"How is she doing?" Bella asked Lucius softly, standing next to the cot her sister lay on.

"Poppy said she could wake up at anytime, but that the more she sleeps the better she will heal," Lucius said tiredly. His hand was gently stroking Narcissa's arm.

"Lucius, perhaps you should get some rest," Bella suggested.

"No, she could wake up soon."

Poppy came over then, running a diagnostic over Narcissa. "She is healing well Lucius. You, however, are in dire need of rest. Actually, all three of you should take a nap."

"A nap," Bella had to grin. Poppy still treated them as if they were children. "I think Severus is already taking one." She looked back to where her husband was snoring softly on the couch.

"Well," Poppy coughed. "I may have given him a little calming draught with his healing potion. He needed it," She said defensively.

Lucius gave a low chuckle. "You're in for it when he wakes up." He yawned.

"Lucius, please. Take a little rest," Poppy encouraged. She transfigured a table into another cot. "Lay down here, next to Narcissa. That way you'll be the first thing she sees when she wakes up."

Lucius gave in and soon was sound asleep, his hand reached over to hold Narcissa's.

"I will. I'll snuggle next to Severus," Bella promised. "I don't want the children seeing us so exhausted. I just...can I have a moment with Narcissa?"

"Of course," Poppy said kindly. She disappeared into the kitchen.

"Oh Cissy," Bella sighed, looking down at her sleeping sister. "I could hate you for the rest of my life. I planned to, honestly. I never wanted to speak to you again. But..." Tears filled her eyes. "When I heard Voldemort had you, I was so scared. And then when I saw you there, so frightened and hurt all I wanted to do was protect you. When I cast the Crucio on you, I didn't feel vindicated or anything. I hated hurting you." She shut her eyes. "I hate what you did, even if I can understand you were doing what you thought was right under the circumstances. I hate what you did," She repeated, tears now dripping down her cheeks. "But I still love you Cissy. I don't know what I would have done if we had lost you." She reached down and squeezed her sister's hand. She gasped slightly as Narcissa weakly squeezed back.

"I love you Bella," Narcissa weakly whispered, her eyes fluttering slightly.

"Shh, I know," Bella said soothingly. "We'll work everything out later. Get more rest okay? Lucius is sleeping on the other side of you and Draco and Kaiden will be here soon. You want to be rested up for that right?"

Narcissa nodded, closing her eyes. "Our boys."

Bella laughed softly. "Yes, our mischievous, wonderful boys." She patted Narcissa's hand and made her way to the couch. She settled herself next to Severus and snuggled into his chest, instantly falling asleep.

Kaiden paced the living room, his mind working furiously. His parents hadn't returned. When he had woken up after he had had his nightmare, Thistle had told him his parents had some business to attend to and would be back soon. But it had been almost a whole day and Thistle wouldn't even let him leave his quarters. He wanted to know where his parents were and he wanted to know what his dream had meant. It had to have been real, his scar had hurt. And the look on his parents faces, there had been genuine worry...and fear. So Voldemort must really be back. Kaiden shivered at the thought.

"Master Kaiden?" Thistle asked worriedly. "Is you okay?"

"Thistle, you have to let me leave. I need to find out what's going on." Kaiden said.

"No, Master Kaiden is not to leave these quarters," Thistle said stubbornly. "Thistle was told so."

Kaiden sighed. "But I think Voldemort is back and he has my Aunt Narcissa. What if my parents went to try and save her? What if they are hurt?" He felt afraid at the thought and more than anything, he wanted to be with his parents.

Thistle twisted her hands together. "We stay here. Your parents will come back." She said finally.

"What if they don't?"

Before Thistle could try to reassure him, the floo flared to life and Dumbledore stepped out looking exhausted. Draco stepped out with him, looking confused.

"Draco! What are you doing here?" Kaiden asked, relieved that at least his cousin was with him.

"I don't know," Draco said, looking at Dumbledore suspiciously. "The Headmaster wouldn't tell me."

"Thistle, if you could pack Kaiden a bag that will last a couple of days, and go to Draco's dorm and pack him one too. We will be joining Bella and Severus as well as the Malfoys," Dumbledore said.

"Are my parents all right?" Kaiden asked anxiously as Thistle popped away.

"Yes, they all are. They are at a safe place recuperating," Dumbledore answered.

Draco's eyes narrowed. "What's going on? If they are all right, then what are they recuperating from?"

"Voldemort has returned," Dumbledore said seriously.

"Merlin," Draco breathed out.

"He held your mother captive, but she is going to be fine," Dumbledore said hastily when Draco's eyes widened in alarm. "I'll take you to them as soon as Thistle returns with your belongings. We all need to go together to the safe house."

Kaiden reached down at picked up Snidget. "Can't we go now? I want to see my parents."

"Me too," Draco said.

"Soon boys," Dumbledore said.

Suddenly Kaiden gasped. "Wait, Voldemort knows the truth, right? About me and Harry Potter? So now that he is back..."

"I'm afraid the fact that you are the boy-who-lived is going to become common knowledge," Dumbledore said sympathetically. "In fact, I have been at the Ministry to let them know before Voldemort could. I had to spin a few things, but they do know that Harry died as a baby and it was you Voldemort attacked. By tomorrow, it will be in the papers."

"Oh no," Kaiden said with a sinking heart, wondering how his fellow peers would react to the news.

"That is part of the reason you are going to the safe house for a couple of days," Dumbledore explained. "It will give the students and professors' a chance to absorb the news."

"Everyone is going to go mental," Draco commented.

"Great," Kaiden muttered.

Thistle popped back with the bags packed. "Is we ready to go?"

Dumbledore gave a tired smile. "Yes, come with me. Hold tight your cat Kaiden. We're going to floo to a secure place and then Apparate from there. Everyone, squeeze into the floo."

Kaiden barely noticed the ocean, he was so anxious to see his parents. As soon as Dumbledore let them into the cottage, he set Snidget down and made a beeline for the couch where is parents were sleeping. "They look okay," He whispered in relief. He turned and saw Draco was staring at his mother with a stricken expression.

"She's so pale," Draco murmured as he approached the cot. "Why does she have bandages on her arms?"

"She was injured but the cuts are healing," Poppy answered as she came into the room.

"Cuts?" Draco whispered.

Poppy winced and send Dumbledore an apologetic look. "I've treated her, I promise she is healing completely. They all just needed to catch up on some rest."

"Have they rested enough that we can wake them up?" Kaiden asked hopefully. As if in agreement with him, Snidget suddenly tore across the room and jumped onto Severus's chest, kneading his claws into it and purring loudly.

Severus practically bolted up, startling Bella into waking up. "Ouch! You need a nail trim," He scolded Snidget before frowning. "Wait, how did -"

"Dad!" Kaiden said in relief, throwing himself into his parents arms. "Mum!"

"Son," Severus held his boy tight as Bella began giving Kaiden little kisses all over his face.

"Mum!" Kaiden complained with a laugh.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Bella said as she pulled from Severus so she could hug him. "You just have no idea how good it is to see you." Especially since there had been a chance that she and Severus wouldn't survive their encounter with Voldemort.

"I was really worried about you guys," Kaiden admitted. "You left me."

"No," Severus said firmly. "We left to help your Aunt and then return to you."

"But...what if you had been killed?" Kaiden said, the fear and even anger settling in now that he knew they were safe. "You left knowing you might not return!"

"Shh," Bella said. "Narcissa and Lucius are still sleeping."

Kaiden turned to where Draco sat next to his parents, looking worried. He sighed. He shouldn't be angry, his parents were safe. At least they hadn't been injured like his Aunt had been. "I'm glad you were able to rescue her." He said. "Voldemort's really back?"

"Yes," Severus said, putting his hand comfortably on Kaiden's shoulder. "We're safe here, and we'll be safe at Hogwarts as long as some new rules are followed."

Uh oh. "Emergency rules?" The rules put into place when they didn't know who was doing the attacking had including having someone with him at all times, an earlier curfew and worst of all no Quidditch.

"But -" He was interrupted by Draco's excited shout as his mum woke up.

"Mum? Are you okay?" Draco asked eagerly, grabbing her hand.

"Draco?" Narcissa slowly sat up, feeling no pain and pulled her son into a hug. "Oh my baby, I was so afraid I wouldn't see you again."

"I didn't even know you were in danger," Draco said in a wobbly voice. His eyes darkened. "Shouldn't I have been told that my mother had been kidnapped?"

"And what would that have accomplished besides you being worried for hours?" Lucius asked as he sat up, yawning. He gave Narcissa a warm smile. "My dear, you look so much better."

"I feel much better," Narcissa smiled back at him, lifting her face as he stood and bent to kiss her.

Draco rolled his eyes. "Ugh."

Dumbledore chuckled.

"Albus, have you been to the Ministry?" Severus asked.

"Yes and the news is out," Dumbledore said, glancing at Kaiden.

Severus hesitated for a moment. "Kaiden, Draco there are two available rooms upstairs down the hall, last two on the right. Why don't you go and unpack?"

"In other words, Draco and Kaiden, we need to talk without you around," Draco said haughtily.

"Draco, go on," Lucius said firmly.

Kaiden stared at the adults incredulously. "Are you serious? You're still going to hide stuff from us? From me? Doesn't this have to do with me? Hello, I'm the one who saw Voldemort come back!"

"Watch the attitude, Kaiden," Severus warned, though his tone stayed gentle.

"We know that," Bella said softly. "And we will talk with you, but this is about the Ministry. Please, go and unpack and then we will all have a nice dinner together."

Kaiden was still irritated but before he could say anything, Draco grabbed his arm and hurried him out of the room, picking up their bags on the way. Snidget trotted after them. "Merlin, are you trying to get into trouble?"

"No," Kaiden said grumpily. "I just want to know what's going on."

"That's what eavesdropping is for," Draco said mischievously.

"How did it go at the Ministry?" Severus asked after the boys had left the room.

"Well," Dumbledore sighed as he dropped into a sofa chair. "They were none too pleased that they had been left in the dark about what really happened to Harry Potter. There was shock, disbelief but they finally believed me. I managed to convince Cornelius that it was my decision to put Kaiden with James and Lily and that I was protecting him by hiding the fact he is the boy-who-lived. Cornelius was furious but he forgot about that after I told him Voldemort was back."

"What does he intend to do about it?" Lucius demanded.

"He doesn't believe me. He said Kaiden's dream was just a dream of a frightened boy or that..." Dumbledore hesitated.

"Or that what?"

"Or that he just wants attention," Dumbledore said quietly.

Kaiden fell through the doorway, landing on his hands and knees on the floor. He shot up, fury on his face. "The Ministry thinks I'm lying? Are they mental, who would lie about something like that? And I hate attention! And I'm not a frightened boy either!" He stopped his yelling to take a breath and realized his parents looked pretty upset.

"Kaiden Phoenix, you have been eavesdropping!" Bella snapped.

"I doubt he has alone," Lucius said darkly. "Draco Lucius, come out here!"

Sheepishly Draco stepped into the room.

"Draco, we have talked about eavesdropping," Narcissa said disapprovingly.

"Sorry Mum."

"Kaiden, we have talked about it also. Recently, in fact." Severus said sternly.

"I didn't have a choice. You sent me out of the room," Kaiden said stubbornly.

Severus crossed his arms. "Young man -"

"Please," Dumbledore sighed and stood up. "It's been a difficult day for all of us and a confusing one for the boys. Perhaps it is better if we all have dinner together and talk everything out."

Severus shut his eyes a moment. It had been a difficult day and clearly they were all stressed out. He could understand his son's anger, though he didn't appreciate the attitude. He could understand it but he didn't appreciate it.

Poppy and Thistle entered the room, glancing wryly around as they sensed the tension. "Dinner is ready. All of you need to eat a good meal and then call it an early night. I'm going back to Hogwarts but I will be back in the morning to check on all of you." She gave them all a sever look. "I better find you all well fed and well rested. And may I say that arguing and yelling will not leave you well rested."

Thistle clapped her hands together happily. "The table is set for everyone, enjoy your meal." She went back into the kitchen.

"I must say I am quite famished," Dumbledore said, a twinkle in his eye as he headed towards the dining room. He let out a happy sigh when he saw the table full of food. "This looks wonderful."

"It really does," Narcissa said as Lucius helped her to her seat. She laughed. "Dear, I'm fine. You don't need to fuss over me."

"Perhaps I enjoy doing so," Lucius countered as he sat next to her, Draco on the other side of him.

Kaiden's stomach rumbled as he looked at the feast on the table. There was a delicious looking roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, carrots and string beans and mashed potatoes. For the boys there was pumpkin juice and tea for the adults.

For several minutes there was only the sound of everyone filling their plates and enjoying the food.

Draco poured a liberal amount of gravy over his mound of mashed potatoes and was about to dig into them when Lucius dumped a good amount of carrots on top.

"Aw," Draco pouted.

"I'm sorry, did you want the string beans as well?" Lucius asked innocently, knowing his son was not fond of string beans.

"Uh, no these carrots look great," Draco said, taking a big bite as if to prove a point.

Kaiden didn't mind either vegetable and as always, enjoyed being able to have a meal. He never wanted to take it for granted, knowing what it was like to be starving.

After everyone had settled into their meal, Dumbledore leaned back in his chair. "So perhaps we should talk. Who wants to start?"
