"I'm glad we decided to wait," Penny said, as she and Leonard trudged up the stairs. "Our friends should be with us when we get married."

"You're right. They should be," Leonard agreed.

"I want Amy to be my maid of honor," Penny said, as they reached the door to the apartment Leonard
shared with Sheldon, "and I suppose you'll have to ask Sheldon to be your best man."

Sheldon was still staring at the ring when Leonard and Penny came into the apartment.

"What's wrong?" Leonard asked.

"Amy broke up with me," Sheldon answered disconsolately. "She did it on the computer."

Penny, with unusual wisdom, didn't ask, "What did you do?" or say, "About time!"

"And tonight," Sheldon went on, "I was going to ask her to marry me. What am I going to do without her? What," he choked out, " am I
going to do without her?"

Sheldon put his head down and sobbed.

Sheldon Cooper, crying?

Neither Leonard nor Penny had ever thought that they would see Sheldon cry.

They looked at each other and nodded. There was only one thing they could do.

"Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur..."
