I'm sorry, but this isn't an update or a notice for a sequel depending on what story you're reading, this isn't the case. I'm posting this on my fics that has high alerts and favs in the hopes to get this to people. Now, if you got this alert through email, then, this isn't for you - although if you are a writer keep reading. But if you saw this on the top of your fav list and thought it was an update or a notice for a sequel, then, this is for you.

You see, for the last few months, I haven't gotten any alerts from fanfiction. At first, I thought it was some sort of problem with fanfiction . net as this has happened before and was sorted over time. But recently, when I was talking about this to some people, I was informed that apparently unless you have a Gmail account, you're unable to get alerts from other email accounts.

But after putting this info on Facebook, I found that there are one who still get alerts on Hotmail, but many have found that they don't get alerts through Hotmail. As for Yahoo and AOL it's 50/50, some get the alerts some don't. So, if you're not getting alerts, I would advise you create a Google Mail account. As I found for myself that this works, as once I created a Google account for my fanfics alerts and activated it on fanfiction . net I started to get my alerts again.

Now to the writers, if you're not getting as many alerts/reviews as you used to a few months ago, this is the reason. So, to help you get alerts again, you should inform your readers about this email problem to them and how they can fix it, like I am doing.
