Chapter 29

Adri meets Kai and Caity

I woke up and realized I was still surrounded. Zara whined as I tried to get up. I shushed her. She took my spot when I got out of bed. I went to the bathroom. Then I went back to my room.

"Where Mistress?" Caity asked.

"Potty." Zara said.

"Shh." Kai mumbled.

"Scoot." I poked Zara.

"Mistress!" She smiled.

"Mistress?" Kai opened his eyes a little.

"It's sleepy time." I crawled back into bed.

"Ok." He went back to sleep.

Ragen rolled over and smooshed me.

We slept until it was breakfast time. Owen woke us up. We went to the dining room. Breakfast was egg sandwiches. I put bacon on mine. Then I had some lessons. I didn't wanna do it, but Owen made me. It was boring. My phone rang. It was Adri.

"Hey, Tai. Can I come over?" Adri asked.

"Uh, I dunno. I'll go ask." I looked at Owen. "Can Adri come over?"

He thought about it. "Finish your work and I will get after lunch."

"But that's forever." I whined.

"Talia." He frowned.

"Dad says you can come after lunch." I told her.

"Ok, I love you." She smiled.

"Bye bye, I'll see you soon." I hung up.

I finished all my work as fast as I could. He sighed. Lunch was chicken cheese soup and tacos. Ragen was telling about his morning when Kai and Caity jumped out their seats. Zara followed them. We watched the door. They came back with Adri and Owen.

"Mistress! Mistress! We found new human." Caity said.

"That's Adri. She's my girlfriend." I told them.

"Rub tummy!" Zara said before turning into a fox and laying in front of her.

"So, who are these two?" Adri asked.

"That's Kai and Caity. They're androids." I gestured.

"Ok, cool." She nodded.

Zara barked. Adri rubbed her tummy. Her tail wagged. Kai and Caity wanted a turn too. Adri petted all of them. We ate. Then we went to go find something to do. Ragen and the others followed us. We settled in the game room. Adri and I were on the couch, Kai was looking for a game for us, and the girls were looking at Alex's displays.

"Hey, Tai?" Adri looked at me.

"Yeah?" I answered.

"What happened during your Timedance?" She frowned.

"I never told you?" I thought.

"Nu huh." She shook her head.

I told them about my Timedance. Jumping around time and meeting my grandparents and future family. How the Weird Sisters used Macbeth and Demona to kill my mom and take me to New York. Kai rumbled, about to bark. The others had gotten upset too. I let them cuddle us. They calmed down once they realized there wasn't a threat around. Adri made them get up before Ragen fell asleep.

We played board games for a bit. Some Candyland and Chutes and Ladders. Ragen, Zara, and Kai got a little competitive. Adri had to remind them that this was fun time. Owen brought some snacks for us, peanut butter and jam sandwiches and chips. We ate then went to go find something else to do. Caity was walking near me when Ragen wanted attention. She barked at him. He barked back. She screamed louder. I tried to calm them, but Caity picked me up.

"Hey." Adri said.

Caity picked her up too.

"No fair." Ragen pouted.

"Is too." Caity nuzzled me.

"It's ok, Ragen." I petted his hair.

"Yes, Mistress." His face lightened up a little bit.

I decided to go outside. Zara brought some sticks. I guess she changed into her fox when I wasn't looking. Caity set us down. I picked one up and threw it. Zara and Kai ran after it. Kai brought it back. We played fetch some more. Caity was laying in the grass with Adri. Ragen ran around. We played until dinner.

"Talia, dinner time." Owen came for us.

"Ok." I nodded.

Kai whined. I looked. He wanted a tummy rub. Adri was busy with Ragen and Zara. Caity was digging a hole. I rubbed his tummy. He licked my face. I pushed him off. We went to the dining room. Dinner was grilled trout with a side of crab salad. Someone yipped excitedly. It was Kai.

"Kai?" Fox asked.

"More dis!" He said, waving his fork around.

"Crab?" I furrowed my brow.

"Gimme." He demanded.

He got another serving of crab salad. The others liked the crab too. After dinner, Adri had to go home. I hugged her goodbye. Then we went to see the gargoyles. Hudson was sitting on the recliner. He noticed me.

"How was your day, lassie?" He asked.

"It was good. Adri came for a bit. Her parents wanted her home before dark." I told him.

"It's a shame we missed her. Next time then." He hummed.

"Hopefully." I agreed.

"Hello, Kai." I heard Goliath say.

"Hi." He smiled.

"I better go say hi to everyone else before they leave." I scratched Bronx's ear. He whined happily.

I went into the next room. Elisa and Goliath were talking. Angela was looking under a table, reaching for something. Nashville and Tachi were watching her. Caity came into view as Angela tugged the toy. Lexington was joking around with Broadway. Brooklyn and Katana were making dinner.

"And then I chased the stick- Hi, Mistress." Kai was sitting at the counter.

"Kai's been telling about your day. So, Adri came over?" Brooklyn asked.

"Yup." I nodded.

"Talia-chan, Kai tol-" Katana started to say.

"Brooklyn, Katana, Elisa thinks Dracon might steal from the national bank tonight." Goliath interrupted.

"Well, duty calls. See you later, Talia." Brooklyn waved.

"It's lesson time, Sweetheart." Puck came in.

"Ok." I followed him to the classroom.

Alex waved. There was a table and bowl of water. I went to touch the water.

"No touchy." He smacked my hand. I sniffed. "That's moon water."

"Why?" I asked.

"You're going to learn how to scry." Puck said.

"Why is Alex here?" I looked at him.

"Dad." He answered.

"We had a little incident before and now someone has to stand guard." Puck shrugged.

The lesson started. I had to focus on the water. An image started to appear. It was blurry then disappeared. Dad said not to look at the image until it was done. I tried again. It was better this time. I saw Goliath flying above the city. We tried a few more times. Adri was watching TV, Matt was doing paperwork. Alex wanted to see Avalon, but when we did, it didn't last very long. We saw a forest. I got really tired too.

"You did good, Sweetheart. Maybe Avalon was little much. Let's go to bed." Puck told me.

"Ok. Night, Alex." I said.

"Night night, Tai." He picked me up and hugged me.

Puck took me to my room and tucked me in. He read me a bedtime story. As I fell asleep, something niggled in the back of my mind. Something that seemed important. I'd figure out later.
