This story is set between Harry's sixth and seventh years in summer break.

The day is overcast and rainy. Two men in dark robes which whip in the wind approach two graves on a hill surrounded by lilies and practically covered with roses. The younger man looks at his parents graves for the first time. A few tears roll down his cheek. He is finally saying goodbye...

iGood bye mom and dad though I never knew you at all... you always loved me; you loved me till the last./i

The older man puts his arms around the boy and they just stand there in the rain, not even bothering to put up and umbrella charm...

iWhile those around you feared, you had the, bravery to stand for what you had always believed in you stood against the tide./i

The Muggle song, 'Candle in the Wind' comes to Harry's mind. He thought about everything that had happened and how far he had come...

/iIt seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind, never knowing who to cling to when the rain set in./i

How much he had lost....

iI'd really like to know you but I was just a kid./i

How much he had gained...

iYour candles burned out long before you legend ever will./i

and how much his parents bravery had inspired him, and would continue to do so, to do his best and fight back against the darkness. If he was to die, he was determined to die as his father did, straight backed and proud...

iGoodbye my best friend/i

Sirius looked for the first time on James, his best friends grave, and Lilly, who he had come to love as a sister. He took a great shuddering breath and closed his eyes as a few tears fell down his cheeks....

ithe emptiness is so hard to bear I lost all that I had./i

He remembered how he had been betrayed, and almost had his soul shattered into a thousand pieces. Then he remembered the good times, past and present. His grip on Harry's shoulder tightened just a little bit and he looked at the boy with a paternal smile...

iNow don't you worry. Your son is doing just fine he is a hero just like you were; I know you would be proud of him. I hope you're watching him now./i

As god-father and god-son walk away with Sirius' arm still around Harry's shoulders two figures, a man with messy black hair, and a woman with long red hair and dazzling green eyes appear. They watch, arm in arm, as the two men walk away from that place of death and prepare to live their lives, and possibly save the world in the bargain...

iIt seems to me you lived your lives like candles in the wind./i

The men look back once more at the two graves standing on the hill. They blink, and rub their eyes. For a moment, just a moment they saw a glimmer of husband and wife then it was gone...

iSomehow knowing what to do when the rain set in you will always be my heroes it's so hard to heal your candles burned out long before you're ledges ever willi/

The two graves are abanonded now, but their are two new memorial cards at the foot of the graves. One, bearing the words:

Dead in body, alive in spirit and memory, I miss you. Harry

The other:

My heroes and my friends I will never forget you. Sirius
