A/N: Hey so it's been pointed out to me that this idea is just a little too dull and overused and I need to do something to spruce it up.

Fair enough, it has been suggested that I make this a Soulmate fic? What do you think? I like this idea and I am willing to make it so but I wanted to gauge reaction first. I am always trying to improve my writing and come up with good ideas so any advice is welcomed.

I like the Soulmate idea but it seems as overdone and Harry Potter having a twin sister, doesn't it?

What do you think? Yay or Nay?

Now on with the chapter :)

Summer started off dull as usual but something had changed at their 'home'. The Dursleys didn't make them do chores until they were exhausted anymore and provided them with food. Not much food and no sweets but still proper meals and no hard work. It was like they didn't exist any more. They weren't looked in the eye, acknowledged or spoken to. Dinner was made and left for them to collect as they couldn't sit at the table. This was still a huge improvement. Poppy had no idea where this had all came from but from the mildly frightened looks they sometimes got, it seemed like they were afraid of bothering them. What were they afraid of happening?

Although strange, it wasn't unwelcome, her major problem now being boredom. For some very sad reason, their friends didn't write like they promised and Poppy was very frustrated and upset by this. Of course, she had Harry to cheer her up but she thought that they were her friends. Even Neville didn't reply to her! It was very hurtful.

Poppy spent her time reading as she usually did. Her Transfiguration textbooks of course and Harry even picked it up when he was bored and her Potion's books obviously. Poppy had bought herself more Potions books and tons of ingredients before they came back to Privet drive. She did this through McGonagall who stopped by every two weeks to drop off her Potions and other stuff she needed to take following her Procedure. It was mostly painkillers and muscle relaxants and it was a major help though she was being weaned off the regimen slowly. Her wand twin would enter, nod politely to the Dursleys who looked nervous and frozen, gave Poppy her Potions, ensured she drank them and give one last lingering look to her relatives.

Poppy spent her time doing what she did best; brewing Potions. This was how she spent to majority of her days and tested them on unsuspecting people in cafe's or on herself and Harry.

She dropped some Babbling Beverage into a coffee of a man who was very rude and mean about a girl he was on a date with when she went to the toilet. To say he made an utter fool of himself would be an understatement. It was hilarious.

Poppy brewed many Potions that summer. Such as; Beautification Potion, Magi-me-more Potion that helped her have more concentration on her other textbooks, Pepper-up Potion, Pompion Potion that turned Harry's head into a Pumpkin and stayed that way for twenty minutes until Poppy calmed down and gave him the antidote, Maximum turbo farts Potion that she gave to the boys that used to bully Harry. A Memory Potion, A Hate Potion that surprisingly shows the takers worst traits and Habits.

Poppy drunk that one herself. It was... very unpleasant on Harry until it wore off. She was rude, loud, obnoxious, arrogant, selfish and wouldn't listen to a word of what Harry said to her even when he tried to explain why she was being this way. The Potter girl was curious about the worst of herself and she was really ashamed afterwards. That was not a good day.

She also brewed a Volibilus Potion that altered her voice. The Potter twins were on the ground in stitches for hours. That was one of the best.

Some Potions took twenty minutes to brew others days and the most complicated ones, weeks. It was lucky she had lots of cauldrons or it would be difficult. It wasn't uncommon for Poppy to be scrubbing her cauldrons when the Durley's were out, the twins window to always be open to air out the room and for several Potions to be brewing at once.

Poppy wanted to try the most complicated ones and for the most part, she did brew some tricky ones but did not always get it right, much to her embarrassment and future determination. Some Potions she brewed she kept on a stasis charm and kept thinking it might be a good idea to keep in store in case she needed them. Such as Pepper-up Potions, Murlap essence, Blood-replenishing Potion, Fire-Protecting Potion, Invigorating draught, Pain killing Potions, Acne clearing Potions – that she needed as she actually got her first spot that summer to her complete horror. Invigorating draughts and, most importantly, Sleek easy hair styling Potion that she started to use on herself and Harry even though he would never use it himself even when his hair stuck up dreadfully.

The summer wasn't as bad as she had expected it to be. That was until Uncle Vernon's dinner party and she was introduced to Dobby the house elf. He was insane and had been hiding their letters! She was irritated and didn't have the patience of her brother. Poppy didn't know what to do, she was tempted to smack the house elf but he did it to himself already and was really hurting himself. How can you punish an elf that already punishes itself?

Uncle Vernon put bars on their window that night and the food stopped coming. McGonagall wasn't coming for another two weeks and the were confined inside until further notice.

It was on the night of their birthday that they escaped thanks to Ron and the Weasley Twins. Fred was driving and George helped her and Harry into the car with their trunks. They weren't ashamed to admit they had already packed everything they didn't need to buy in preparation for leaving.

The flight to the Weasleys was long. Poppy really enjoyed flying in the car and was a little disappointed she had missed flying lessons in first year. They flew over the countryside for what seemed like ages and she worried a time or two that they were getting lost.

When they did land it was surrounded by tree's and grass and an odd, misshapen house came into view that seems to have had bits added to it throughout the years. It was scruffy looking and there was even pigs and chickens. Poppy wondered if they killed and ate the animals. Most likely did. She clutched Aslon to get chest tighter.

They landed and all sneaked into the house, trying to be silent. No one was about and the house was nicer but still as shabby looking on the outside than it was on the inside. It was the complete opposite from the Dursleys. Nothing matched, from the chairs to the cutlery, everything was unique and didn't really go together. Dishes washed themselves and knitting needles clicked together without someone holding them. Petunia loved her house to be all the same and look properly presentable. This house wasn't but definitely had a homey, lived in feeling that Petunia couldn't manage in all her prim and properness.

Poppy liked the Weasley's house better.

Each Weasley snagged a roll and Poppy was pleased that they seemed to sneak in no bother. At that moment thunderous footsteps approached and she knew she'd been wrong.

"Where have you been?" Molly Weasley shrieked to her children.

The Weasley's all hid their rolls and looked sheepishly at their mother. Poppy recognised her as the red headed woman from before she went on the train. She was wearing what looked like hand knitted clothes that were very colourful but pretty. It was unusual and would stick out like a sore thumb but she liked it.

"Hello Mrs Weasley, it's nice to meet you" She piped up, hoping to distract the woman from her rage. Mrs Weasley blinked and looked at her immediately with a soft face and smiled approaching her and gently cuped her face.

"It's wonderful you meet you Poppy" She said kindly with a motherly smile. Poppy smiled back. Ron's mum then turned to Harry and said, "It's lovely to see you again Harry"

"You too Mrs Weasley" Her brother replied kindly.

They were all then shuffled into the kitchen by Mrs Weasley and fed breakfast. Everyone tucked in immediately and started grabbing things. Poppy and Harry looked at each other awkwardly, unsure if they should really touch anything.

Just then a ginger man entered the room with a big smile and the weirdest most embarrassing hat she had ever seen. It was like a cone. Poppy snickered under her breath and Harry nudged her foot under the table to tell her to shut up. Percy arrived downstairs bed head and then they all and started eating.

"Good morning everyone" The older ginger man said jovially and then sat at the head of the table. Mrs Weasley leant down to give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Morning Dad" The Weasley boys mumbled.

Mr Weasley looked up and saw the Potter twins seated their awkwardly, "And who are you two?" He asked, not unkindly.

Harry blinked and stuttered a little so she talked over him, "-I'm Poppy Potter, sir and this is my brother Harry" She said politely.

The man did a double take and looked at Harry closely, "My god, are you really?" He asked, a little in wonder. Poppy raised her eyebrows but replied before her twin could awkwardly spit out a reply.

"No, I am, we decided to dress up like each other for the day" She said with a bright smile. Fred and George laughed but Ron was used to her antics by now.

Mr Weasley smiled at her in amusement, Poppy was glad the man seemed to have a good sense of humour.

Poppy looked around the table and sighed dramatically, "What, no one believes me? That's a shame. Bet you two would get away with it" She glared playfully at the Weasley twins.

"-Right we would" the one of the left said.

"-Do it all the time, used to be loads a fun" The one of the right replied.

Then they heard footsteps running down the stairs again and nobody but her and Harry looked up. A girl around her age, maybe a bit younger ran into the room straight towards Mrs Weasley.

"Mummy have you seen my jumper?" She asked and then looked straight at Harry. Her eyes widened in mortification then she ran from the room.

"Did I do something?" Harry asked a little unsure. Poppy had no idea and shrugged her shoulders. Weird girl.

"Oh no, talking about you all summer she has. Been quite annoying actually" Ron grumbled and kept eating whilst also looking a bit confused.

The Potter twins shared an unsure look. Why would she be talking about Harry? She hadn't even met him yet. Strange girl.

Mr Weasley cleared his throat, "Yes, well, Ron's told us all about you Harry. You too Poppy"

Poppy beamed at Ron, glad he was still friends with her. She was worried after her letters went missing but she was silly to doubt him.

"Poppy, Harry, you know a lot about muggles" Mr Weasley began and then looked at them both curiously, "What exactly is the function of a rubber duck?" He asked quite seriously.

Harry stared at the man, "Oh-I-uh" He stumbled over his words so she piped up, "It doesn't have one really. It is a toy, typically for children used in baths. You see it floats and you can play with it" She explained seriously.

The man's eyes shinned brightly and Ron explained about his job at the Ministry of Magic. Poppy perked up, "Oh really? How does magical politics work? Do ministers get elected?"

Thus began the most boring conversation in the history of the world according to Ron, outside of Binns classroom that is. Mr Weasley and Percy explained the ins and outs of the Ministry of Magic to her. All in all, she was unimpressed. It sounded a bit outdated but there were something's she did approve of and others she was surprised wasn't outlawed hundreds of years ago. In return, she explained about muggle politics and the idea of political parties. Mr Weasley was fascinated but Percy drifted out of the conversation.

An owl screeching interrupted them and they all looked to see it crash in the window. Percy fetched them their Hogwarts letters, including Harry's and Poppy's. There were a lot of Defence Against the Dark Arts textbooks and Poppy hoped they had a better Professor this year and she might actually enjoy the subject.

"Dumbledore must know you two are here" Mr Weasley commented with a sip of tea, "Is there anything that man doesn't know" He said rhetorically and fondly.

"How to shave?" She supplied with a smile. The Weasley twins and Mr Weasley laughed and she smiled happily, giving Harry a look.

"Why can't you enjoy my jokes as much as they do" She pouted and Harry just rolled his eyes playfully,

"They haven't had to listen to it their whole life" He said back with a smile. Poppy clutched her heart in dismay as Mrs Weasley read the required items on the letter.

She hummed and hawed and declared that they needed to go to Diagon ally. Poppy smiled, hoping to get some more Potions ingredients and books.

After plans were made for the day everyone got ready with Poppy and Harry putting their things away. Poppy had to share a room with the strange girl from before – Ginny – and Harry stayed with Ron. She was a little nervous and would have preferred to stay with her friend and brother but she didn't really have a choice.

Poppy was pulled to the side by Mr and Mrs Weasley when everyone was getting ready and Harry was talking to Ron. They were huddled in the corner of the living room and she looked at Ron's parents curiously.

"We just wanted to thank you, Poppy, for your gifts to Ron, Fred, George and Percy. That was really kind of you" Mr Weasley said honestly but with serious eyes and Poppy felt like she was getting into trouble.

She bit her lip and waited. Mrs Weasley spoke, "As grateful as we are, we just wanted to say that although generous, it was really too much. The robes and chess set must have been quite expensive and those quills you get Percy. It was wonderfully thoughtful of you dear but you don't have to buy such big gifts for them" She said almost looking worried. Poppy felt awkward and a little bad, "We were just worried that you were spending all of your money buying gifts. We are so grateful but just wanted you to know that it was unneeded" She explained, trying not to make Poppy upset.

The Potter girl tried not to take it personally, she remembered Ron's reactions to the gifts, "Mr and Mrs Weasley, you know that me and Harry are orphans, right?" She said quietly, looking around to see that no one could listen.

They both nodded with sympathetic eyes so she continued, "Ron was the same and tried to not accept but I didn't let him. Before Hogwarts, me and Harry had never gotten a real present before. In fact, we didn't get any gifts or celebrations or clothes or sweets or anything from our relatives. They really don't like us. The Dursleys have money, lots of it, but hated spending it on us so they gave us old stuff and we never had any toys growing up" She explained honestly. Poppy saw the distress and pain shinning in Rons mother's eyes and the solemn look Mr Weasley had taken on, putting an arm around the woman's shoulders.

Poppy kept going, "So when we found out that our parents left us lots of gold well it was a nice surprise and really the only positive thing to having lost our parents" Poppy looked down sadly with a pained sigh, "The gold doesn't mean much... but it makes things easier for us now and I know you think I don't understand the value of money but I do. Me and Harry used to do the shopping every week so I get it, I do. Don't be wasteful and all that. But, to be honest, with all the gold we have, I can't think of a better way than to spend it on the people I love the most. Ron's been a great friend to us and now I can finally buy the things to show Harry how wonderful he is. With Ron too now. I just wanted to show Ron, Fred and George how much I appreciate them. I can't think of a better way than to spend what was left to us than to people to have made us happy and been friends to us." Poppy paused here and looked up again, "I think that's what Mum and Dad would have wanted" She whispered.

Poppy finished her rather lofty and personal speech and saw tears in Mrs Weasley's eyes. Ron's mum then pulled her into a gigantic hug and began saying things so quickly she wasn't sure what she meant.

Mr Weasley put his arm on her shoulder in comfort and said quietly, "Of course Poppy"

Inwardly she was a little glad they wouldn't say anything about her gift giving because she had big plans for this year.

The trip to Diagon was a waste of time. They met up with Hermione and Ron's dad almost got into a fight with Malfoy senior but the rest of it was a bust. Harry almost got lost via the floo, it was busy, boring and worst of all they met him.

Him being the new Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. Gilderoy Lockheart. Poppy thought that Harry's rivalry with Malfoy was stupid but now she had a whole new understanding of the situation. That being that she now had an archenemy.

This was because Poppy had never much such a pompous, arrogant, irritating, delusional, annoying, disgusting and infuriating man in her entire life! It was not an understatement to say that she hated him.

Poppy returned to the Weasleys and after dinner, she was nervous entering Ginny's room as this is where she'd be staying for the duration of the visit to the Weasleys and didn't really know the girl.

Knocking on the door she hesitantly crept inside, seeing the younger girl seated on her bed. She looked up expectantly,

"Yeah?" Rons little sister asked with one of her new school books in hand.

Poppy smiled hesitantly, "Um yeah, I'm just here to get my pyjamas and stuff. Your dad said he'd be up to transfigure my bed soon" She said a little awkwardly, still hovering in the doorway.

The girl blinked then frowned at her, moving her book from her lap, "Excuse me?" She asked, a little indignant.

Poppy cleared her throat, "uh yeah, didn't... didn't your mum say? I'm supposed to be staying in here with you..." Poppy trailed off seeing the outraged look now on the young girls face. Poppy was expecting a battle but to her relief, Ginny just stormed out the room and crashed down the stairs.

"MUMMY YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS IN LETTING SOMEONE STAY IN MY ROOM" She shouted. Uh oh, Poppy thought uncomfortably. She wondered if she would be sent back to the Dursleys, she hoped not.

Poppy did not like Ginny Weasley. The girl was not pleased that Poppy would be staying in her room. Harry had heard the noise and immediately offered to go back to the Dursleys with her if it was too much trouble. Ginny immediately swivelled round and glared at her, hard, almost in outrage as if it was her fault her brother would leave. Ron kindly offered his room with Harry and Harry even saying he would share a bed. Mrs Weasley would hear nothing of it and put her daughter to rights.

Thus it was most awkward staying in the room and receiving bland, displeased looks from Ron's little sister. Personally, Poppy thought she was a spoiled brat. Dotted on because she's the only girl. Poppy muttered Dudley to Harry behind her back and he would smile in response but tell her that he was Ron's sister.

Poppy Potter thanked the stars that they would be leaving for Hogwarts the next day.
