(OS)
My sweet, sweet boy…
FADE IN:
EXT. SNOWY WOODS – NIGHT
Zane's hummer is driving down snowy highway 6, as fast as it can without losing control on the snowy roads…
You can't tell who is driving, as it speeds up, with less and less snow on the road…
He continues driving, with less snow everywhere, and the road eventually becoming bare, as the hummer begins going full speed, flying down the highway, with darkening conditions, as the whiteness of the snow fades away…
The hummer barely slows down, and comes to a skidding turn, at the Glenwood store, and onto Glenwood lane, speeding over the bridge, and toward the open gates of the camp…
It speeds forward, and inside, coming to a sudden stop…
Someone climbs out, as POV travels up his body, revealing Grover, in a complete zone, before looking around, and simply walking…
Dead convict bodies lay all around, as Grover walks toward the side, and next to a tree, just standing there staring off into nothingness…
It's the exact same area where Zane had walked over to, after the frustration of GW joining the other convicts, who intended to leave with Grover…
He continues to just daze off…
Suddenly, there is the sound of a woman.
FEMALE VOICE
(off-screen)
You did the right thing…
Mary (his dead mother) comes into the POV, right behind him, placing her loving arms around him…
MARY
My sweet, sweet boy…
Grover pushes her away from him, with extreme anger, and shouting.
GROVER
THE RIGHT THING, MY ASS! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY
HEAD! You made me look like a GOD DAMN FOOL, OUT
THERE! I screwed it all up. It's over…
Grover just staring off at nothing, in thought…
GROVER
How did I get here? How did you let me get to
this point?
Grover turns back toward Mary, who is now gone…
DISSOLVE TO: 15 MONTH RECAP
INT. DOWNTOWN PORTLAND BUILDING OFFICE – DAY
POV of a large panoramic window, with a scenery view of downtown and the hills behind it. A phone is ringing and the news is heard playing from a TV…
POV pans back to a man (in a nice suit), standing there looking out the window, at all the cars and people below. He answers the phone and turns facing the POV, as he begins speaking.
ANTHONY
(into phone)
Mom…. Yes, I'm watching now.
Anthony looking at the TV, which is of the news, reporting the day's strange events.
ANTHONY
(into phone)
Is this it? Is this the day we've prepared ourselves for?
He listens to her, while also watching/listening to the news.
ANTHONY
(into phone)
Well, if they've sent out their coded text, I guess we
do the same. Having you there in the compound will
give us every advantage we need. Call me as soon as
you land there. I want to know you are safe, and
remember to get me the rest of my stash. I can't go
into the apocalypse without keeping my sanity…. I
love you, too.
Anthony hangs up, then pulls up text messages between him and Dylan, and typing 666, then sending. He then dials another number, and stares at the TV. POV TV, of a woman reporting of a possible plague, causing people to become aggressively violent, as scene dissolves…
ANTHONY
(into phone)
Leo…
DISSOLVE TO:
Anthony pulling his fancy town car into the driveway of the "Portland Camp", where people are hard at work, arriving and/or carrying/moving things around, and setting up "camp". Solis is there, waiting for Grover, who climbs out of his car, immediately walking toward the mansion, with Solis.
SOLIS
Marshall is five minutes out. Buses are already en
route, and everything here is getting done just as
planned.
ANTHONY
Good to hear. I'm counting on you and Marshall. I
can't be here to do it myself. This all goes so much
deeper than I can tell, for now, but this is how we
all truly survive.
SOLIS
You really think everything goes to shit, from here,
too much shit to get back to normal?
ANTHONY
I actually don't. Something out there is not right,
but if I had to guess, we'll all be back in our homes
soon. If not, at least we'll be prepared for whatever
comes next.
Scene dissolves as all the people there are hard at work, setting things up.
DISSOLVE TO:
Anthony (in regular clothes) in the Portland Camp driveway, climbing into a fully loaded truck, and driving off, with a few other loaded trucks following, as Solis watches him go…
DISSOLVE TO:
Anthony on highway 26, aggressively driving off-road, to get around stopped traffic. The others follow him. Anthony glances over at the brutal accident on the road, in which caused the traffic jam. A vehicle is on fire, and a person walks right into the fire, catching on fire himself, but continuing to walk, as if not even scared or in pain. Anthony looks back, wondering if he saw what he just saw, before pulling back up onto the open highway, and speeding away.
DISSOLVE TO:
Anthony driving the open highway, while on his phone.
ANTHONY
(into phone)
Come on, Mom; answer your damn phone! (clicking
to incoming call) Vance, this is looking more and more
like the real deal. Load up as many people as you can,
and get them to the beach camp. Only the strong, not
the weak…. Of course! The men will need women! If
they have kids, that's fine, we'll eventually move
them to Glenwood, once complete…. Yes, once that –
Grover stopping midsentence and staring out window. His POV of a random person, who is a bloody mess and walking funny. Anthony speeds by, turning to look, as much as he can…
DISSOLVE TO:
Anthony speeding his truck through the beach camp gates, where plenty of other people have already arrived, and are still arriving…
DISSOLVE TO:
Anthony inside the gates with a phone in his hand, as a few trucks are driving inside the camp, with loads of supplies. He walks around the camp, while talking on phone, and looking over the area and his people hard at work, readying the camp for survival.
ANTHONY
(into phone)
So, is Leo coming to get you then, or what?! I'm just
twenty minutes from there. I'm going to come get you
myself…. Fine, call me as soon as you are on your way.
(clicking over to another call) Grandfather…. Yes,
everything is good here, and at the Portland camp.
The prison is still running normal, but I've already
spoken with Swish. Eric is already at Glenwood, and
ready to begin putting up the walls tomorrow, if things
don't improve…. Yes, she's the only one I'm worried
about, right now. That piece of shit, Leo, can't even
secure his own wife, let alone the people and resources
of that compound!... I'm good, but if he doesn't get to
her soon, I'll get her myself…. Yes, sir…. Yes, okay.
(clicking to another call) Johnathon…. Yes! If they already
closed it down, then get in here and load up like you've
never loaded up before. We can make over a hundred
more yurts with those supplies…. No, don't worry about
it. Even if things improve, they'll never know it was you.
The world is in complete chaos right now, and only
getting worse. It's every man for himself, out there. See
you back here. (clicking over to another call) Jarvis, I want
Jacob and his boys to move forward on the supply plan.
It's all falling apart quickly, and looks like the real deal. Get
Rodger's crew to hit their marks. All those locations are on
shutdown. We gather as much as they can gather. We'll go
back for the rest if we can, but for now we have to plan as
if we might be on lockdown, until we know more. You and
JR need to join Clark and Matty. Arm yourselves heavily,
and play taxi to all of our special guests, who can't make it
on their own. We need the doctors and nurses here. The
Portland camp already has enough for both them and
Glenwood. Call me with updates. (clicking to another call)
I want to hear good things, Solis. Are Docs and nurses
arriving, safe and sound?... Great! Your calling for?... By
someone infected?... Isolate him, and see what happens.
We need to know what we're dealing with. I'll call you back
when I can. (clicks to another call) Talk to me, Vance…. Yes,
the more people the better. We have room for as many as
you can load, but do so quickly and get here asap!
Anthony finally hangs up.
Cut to Vance, hanging up, from the back of a large flatbed, being pulled by a big rig, and surrounded by a large crowd of pleading people. There are several big rigs, pulling flatbeds, full of supplies, and people, with more people pleading to be let on board. They also have several large gas tankers. They are driving slowly, near the city and around a spot where traffic is at a dead stop. More and more people are exiting/abandoning their vehicles, with whatever belongings they can carry, and begging for approval to board the flatbeds.
Vance is pointing at different men, the big/strong type, as his men help pull those people up and onto the flatbeds. Some of them have small children, or even babies. Vance also points to the most attractive of the women, and allows them up. He spots a woman dressed as a nurse and points to her. He points to another guy and helps pull him up, himself. The man is Cody (Jo and Peyton's friend), quickly shaking Vance's hand.
CODY
Thank you, so much! I'm Cody.
Cut back to Anthony, at the beach camp. POV of the camp, as the men are hard at work setting up. Scene dissolves as the day progresses, with more and more people arriving, Anthony constantly on the phone, men hard at work, Vance and all those big rigs arriving, Anthony on the phone, Anthony supervising and ordering people around, as they set things up, and more people arriving, with Anthony pointing them where to park. Scene then dissolves to him on his phone again, this time becoming extremely emotional…
He hangs up, and walks off to a private spot. He sheds a tear, and then acts like he is throwing a major fit, but without exploding/making noise, for others to hear. He then takes a deep breath, wipes his tear away, and then takes a bottle of pills from his pocket, and pops one. His phone rings, as he walks away, answering phone.
POV of him coming back out around all the others. You couldn't hear his phone conversation, but now he begins shouting at many of the others, who are quick to begin grabbing guns and loading up into a bunch of trucks. Anthony hops into one, as they begin driving through the gates, and down the private road…
Cut to them arriving at a block in the road, and coming to a stop, pointing their guns at a bunch of people. Mason is seen in the background, by his hummer. It's the same blockade that kept Mason/Leo from getting up the road, in EP 2.1.
Dissolve to moments later, as Anthony comes face to face with Leo…
ANTHONY
Again, Leo, I'm so, so sorry about your family. Anything
I can do, just ask.
Leo staring at Anthony, with theme tune beginning before he can respond.
DISSOLVE TO:
THEME TUNE/CREDITS
POV travels through the Beach compound, over the log cabins, the mess hall, and areas much like Glenwood has, including a DC, and fields of crops, with plenty of trees, and tons of yurts, with piles and piles of more wood, and flowing water on the outside of the camp. Shots of all of this, as opening credits roll…
CUT TO:
EXT. PRISON – NIGHT
POV Grover, with a few of his men behind him, and in background waiting by their trucks, and watching him.
GROVER
CAUSE WE'VE GOT MAN POWER! (More cheering)
WEHAVE LEADERS! (cheering) LEADERS AT BOTH
CAMPS, WITH ARMIES, TO RULE OVER THE DEAD
ANDTHOSE WHO WOULD THREATEN OUR SURVIVAL!
Massive cheering from all the convicts, as Grover delivers the speech, he made in EP 2.6, when he freed the prisoners. He continues his speech, but seen from an entirely different POV than in EP 2.6, as his identity was being withheld, at that time.
GROVER
AND WE HAVE GUNS TO DO THAT WITH! (cheering)
AMMUNITION! (cheering) FOOD! (cheering) AND A
PLAN TO HARVEST PLENTY MORE! (cheering) WATER
TO WASH IT DOWN WITH! (cheering) AND NOT JUST
WATER, BUT HOW ABOUT SOME MOONSHINE! (mass
cheering) AND WOMEN TO SHARE IT WITH! (mass
cheering) WHAT GOOD IS SURVIVING THE APOCALYPSE
WITHOUT WOMEN AND LIQUOR!? (more mass cheering)
AND SURVIVE IT YOU WILL! (cheering) With an entire
team of loggers, we'll soon have walls to keep out the
dead, and to keep your WOMEN AND MOONSHINE
SAFE! (mass cheers) YEEEAH! NOW WHO'S ON BOARD?
(cheering) DO YOU WANNA GO TAKE YOUR CHANCES
OUT THERE, ON YOUR OWN, AGAINST THIS KIND OF AN
ENEMY, IN AN UNCERTAIN NEW WORLD? OR DO YOU
WANNA COMMIT TO GROVER, AND BE A PART OF THOSE
WHO REBUILD THE WORLD?!
Everyone cheering before going into a chant, of "Grover! Grover! Grover!"...
He smiles with encouragement, and nods, shaking some of their hands, while making his way back to his men and the trucks, where they are quick to climb in and drive off. Grover has men with guns in the back of his truck. He looks over at the prisoner group, as Swish takes command…
Dissolve to Grover's truck and one more, leaving the backroad, onto highway 6, and heading east. The rest of the trucks turn west…
POV Grover.
VANCE
(over radio)
You be safe out there, "Grover". Closer you get to
the city, worse those roads will get.
GROVER
(into radio)
For now, but soon we'll own them…
Dissolve to a long jam of traffic, on highway 26. Most cars are abandoned, but there are pockets of people here and there, all taking notice of Grover's trucks. Some of the people are begging for help, but stepping back as the men in the truck aim their guns at them, while slowly driving through the vehicles, sometimes driving off-road, and back on. Grover shakes his head while looking out at it all…
GROVER
Yep…this really is it…and dear old dad always said
it would happen in our lifetime.
Jeb driving the truck, with a look at Grover…
Dissolve to the two trucks still driving the messy highway, but with two more vehicles now following them. They begin driving off-road, around a pileup of cars. They are heading toward a group of men, working hard to get their truck out of a ditch. Grover eyes the men, who all appear to be strong/heathy. He motions for Jeb to slow down. His men in the back, keep their guns aimed at the men working on their stuck truck, who stop what they are doing, and just watch the men with guns aimed at them, as their truck stops.
Grover hops out, motioning his men to help.
GROVER
Let's give these cats a hand, maybe they will decide
to join our cause.
Grover's men jumping down from both trucks, immediately helping the stuck truck, with growing appreciation and intensity from the new men.
NEW MAN #1
Oh my god; thank you so much!
NEW MAN #2
We only got stuck because (pointing at a few dead
bodies) of those things!
There are several dead huffs nearby.
GROVER
Well, you certainly appear to be very capable with
adjusting to this new world of ours.
Grover's men and the new men all pushing the truck out…
Dissolve to them all back on the road, staring out at a random huff who is feasting on a dead body, before rising and stepping toward the vehicles, which drive on, with the expressions of all the men, in shock over what they're seeing…
Dissolve to them all off-road, but entering back onto the highway. Headlights are now shining on the men in the back of the truck, who raise their weapons, but then quickly lower them, even preparing to duck down low. They watch as several military vehicles speed by them, and take a nearby offramp, obviously in a hurry. Grover smiles, as Jeb keeps driving.
GROVER
Even the military can't stop this…
Dissolve to Grover and the others, arriving at the Portland camp, with Solis and Marshall eagerly awaiting them on the other side of the gates, as they drive through. They quickly approach Grover, who is climbing out of his truck.
MARSHALL
Are we ever happy to see you make it back.
Solis shaking his head with a look of doom, as they all walk toward the mansion.
SOLIS
It's bad, man, really, really bad.
GROVER
I'm well aware, but tell me everything.
MARSHALL
A couple of the buses never made it back. We figured
we'd try those locations again, in the morning.
SOLIS
The stories of the one's and the people who did
make it in, are out of this world.
GROVER
Any injuries? Anyone bitten?
Solis and Marshall a surprised look at him.
SOLIS
Yes, how'd you know?
GROVER
It's the key to all of this.
Solis and Marshall looking at him, then each other, as scene dissolves…
Dissolve to morning, as a bus full of people are entering through the gates…
Dissolve to those people now piling off of the parked bus. Most of them look like they've been through hell, but with some relief of their new surroundings. Pepsi is among them, holding Coke closely…
POV of them now coming from Grover, who sits inside a room at a table, with Jeb, Marshall and Solis. He watches Pepsi and the others walking toward another area, where Taylor and other nurses begin greeting them, looking for people with possible injuries. One of the men (Casey) speaks to Taylor for a moment, before turning toward Grover, and heading his direction. He enters inside, speaking to Grover.
CASEY
Most of the random chaos is over, but it's still ugly
as shit, out there.
GROVER
Who's the bigger threat when it comes to reaching
parts of the city, the dead, or the military?
CASEY
Like I said over the radio, they don't hesitate to open
fire on anyone trying to enter or pass through their
safe-zones, but they do seem to have their hands full,
and expressed no concerns with us, or other random
people who were leaving the city. Their safe-zones
appear to be mostly outside of the highly populated
areas, but they do have plenty of troops clearing the
city, and from the looks of it, losing the battle.
GROVER
So, the dead might be the bigger threat, if entering
the city.
CASEY
I'd concur with that.
SOLIS
What about all the people? Where are they?
CASEY
Bunkered down in their homes, stuck on the roads,
or camping up in the hills and mountains.
GROVER
We need to move quickly, before the living become
the dead.
JEB
Agreed.
Grover hesitating, just contemplating, as the others watch him…
GROVER
Actually, It's already too late. Or too early. Fighting
through the dead in a week or two, might make more
sense than the military. Most of my fighters are at
Glenwood.
JEB
We haven't even completed half the plan. We need
those supplies, and weapons.
GROVER
To fight a war, yes, but to survive, we're already set.
We'll play it smart, until the military retreats…and
they will…
Grover again contemplating, as Jeb shakes his head…
Dissolve to Grover and his men piling into their trucks. Grover is about to close his door, before stopping and listening. He can hear what sounds like a small child, weeping…
Grover glances over at the empty school bus, where the sound is coming from. He steps back outside his truck, now approaching the bus, and entering inside. It looks empty, and the sound is gone. He walks down toward the back, eventually coming to find a young child. The kid looks up at him, face full of tears. It's Chance (kid Pepsi eventually takes in). Grover just stares down at him…
DISSOLVE TO: FLASHBACK
INT. HALLWAY – DAY
Close-up of a young boy (6) holding someone's hand, while walking down the long hall…
CHILD
Mom? How come no one knows Victor is your real
father, or my grandfather?
POV pans back to his mother, revealing her as Mary. She's much younger, thinner and more beautiful than she was the day she died.
MARY
It's too much for you to fully understand at your age,
but your grandfather is a very powerful man, a very
dangerous man, and a man with a lot of enemies.
ANTHONY
Is that why you're a police woman? To protect him?
MARY
I'm actually a detective, now, but yes, that is kind of
why it's such a secret…
ANTHONY
What's the difference between a policewoman and
a detective?
MARY
Everyone has to be an officer, first. Then those of us
who prove we are smart enough, go on to bigger and
better things. Those of us even smarter than that, go
through life with inside advantages, which you will
better understand with age.
They come to the end of the hall, and enter into a large room. There are a pair of tough guys, holding down a guy in a chair. Victor, much younger than he was when Grover was hallucinating him, in the season 3 mid-finale, is hugging a little girl (Anthony's age), who then leaves, running through another door. She looks like she was crying. Victor smiles as he looks up at his daughter and grandchild, walking toward him.
VICTOR
Today is a special day in your young life.
He pats Anthony on the head, before pulling out a handgun, making it visual for his grandchild.
VICTOR
I understand you recently began training with a gun,
and are already one hell of a shot.
He grabs Anthony's hand and places the gun in it.
VICTOR
Prove it… This man here has betrayed your grandfather,
and will pay with his life.
The man instantly becomes nervous, and both Victor's men step back while pulling out their own guns, firing a shot each, into the man's legs. Anthony flinches from the gunshots, as the man falls from the chair to the floor, crying out in pain. Victor looks right at Anthony, placing his hand under the boy's chin, raising his head up, making him look into his eyes.
VICTOR
This will be hard for you. The hardest kill you ever make,
but then it will get easier, and become routine. Now
aim that pistol, and blow that son of a bitch's head off.
Anthony turns to look at his mom, as Victor begins laughing.
VICTOR
I'm just kidding! (taking gun away) You're just here
to watch, this time.
Victor immediately turns and blows the guy's head off, then turns back and faces a very startled, confused and shocked Anthony.
VICTOR
Next time though, it will be your turn.
Victor just stares at him, and then looking downward, toward Anthony's pant legs, as he pees himself. Victor then begins rolling his eyes, with a look at Mary.
VICTOR
Jesus Christ, are you raising a boy or a girl!?
Mary glancing at her son's pants, expressing her own disappointment, but defending him.
VICTOR
Thank god no one knows this bastard is my grandson!
MARY
You watch the way you speak of my son!
Victor simply slaps her and heads out of the room, speaking to his men.
VICTOR
Clean this up.
Mary drags Anthony out of the room, back into the long hall.
ANTHONY
Mommy, are you okay?!
She turns and instantly slaps the hell out of his face, taking him completely off guard.
MARY
How dare you humiliate me, like that!
His face is full of shock and a broken heart, and watery eyes, but no tears…
DISSOLVE TO: GROVER'S 15 MONTH RECAP
EXT. PORTLAND CAMP BUS – DAY
Grover staring at Chance's face full of tears. Then he reaches down and grabs the kid, standing him up on the seat, looking him in the eye.
GROVER
Lose the tears, kid. The world was terrible when I
was your age. It's a god damn nightmare, now. But
you're in the right place, and I'll tell you right now,
that I'm going to go out there and find the piece of
shit who left you on this bus! You want to come see
what I'll be doing to that pile of shit?
Chance is fighting the tears, but his lip is trembling, and he's about to lose it.
GROVER
Okay, okay, no problem. You're probably right, anyhow.
You should just wait right here.
Grover heading toward the door, looking back at the kid.
GROVER
First, I'm going to find you a new mommy, you better
believe that. Someone will come in here very shortly,
and take care of you.
Grover about to exit, but sticking head back inside.
GROVER
You know who I'm about to go take care of!
Chance actually looks slightly relieved, even enough to peek outside the window…
Dissolve to him now outside the bus, with nurse Taylor, and Pepsi arriving, with Coke. In the background there are a pair of trucks leaving through the gates. POV Grover in the lead truck, with Jeb driving, and this time twice as many armed men in the back of the trucks…
Grover sits there silently, in deep thought…
JEB
You sure about this?
GROVER
We've done all we can do, for now. The beach camp is
the safest place to be. We need to just ride it out for a
few days. Let things play out.
Grover again silent, in deep thought…
DISSOLVE TO: FLASHBACK
INT. SAME HALLWAY – DAY
Anthony (20, 10 years before apocalypse) walking down the same hallway, with a briefcase and in a nice suit, full of confidence, and walking through those same doors. The room is empty, with new carpeting, as he glances over the spot he had witnessed that man being shot, by his grandfather. He continues through a different set of doors, into a conference room, where Victor and about a dozen others are suited, seated and waiting his arrival.
He glances at his mother, Mary, who is sitting near her father, Victor, at the end of the table…
DISSOLVE TO: GROVER'S 15 MONTH RECAP
EXT. BEACH CAMP – EVENING
Anthony and Dylan at the gates, as Vance drives through them, arriving with a truck full of men. Anthony walks right to the truck, as Vance is climbing out.
ANTHONY
Quiet?
VANCE
(shrugging)
Yes and no. The beaches are fairly quiet and so is the
route to the city, besides random dead. Same with
the military. We did see more and more of them
around Hillsboro and Beaverton, but they look more
rogue than anything.
ANTHONY
They might have lost communications with whoever
gives the orders, which will make them desperate…
but unorganized.
Vance and Dylan awaiting a decision…
ANTHONY
Put a large team together, for me. Sixty men. Keep
yourself an army to defend this place with. Dylan
has command while I'm gone. If Leo arrives, tell him
I'll return once I've made sure the other camps are
secure and running as planned. I'll leave at first light.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. HIGHWAY 26 – DAY
Multiple shots of Grover and a small caravan making their way along the highway. It's more open now, but still tons of abandoned vehicles. They can speed the highway at most times, but at other times they are forced to slow down and make their way around certain vehicles, and sometimes even drive off-road…
Eventually they come closer to the city, and pass a sign for Beaverton, while driving full speed. POV of Grover, with Jeb driving, and men with guns in back of truck…
GROVER
(speaking to himself)
Lot less cars…wonder where all those people decided
to go?
He just stares out at the road for a bit…
GROVER
Okay, this open road is not just people getting themselves
out of all the traffic. (pointing) There was a major accident,
right around this area.
Jeb and Grover looking at each other…
GROVER
Where'd it go?
Grover now pointing near side of road.
GROVER
That's it, there!
Their POV of a bunch of thrashed cars, that appear to have been moved/dragged off to the side of the road.
JEB
Compounders?
Grover shaking head, and looking all around…
GROVER
Their plan covers highway 6, from the compound to
the coast. They shouldn't be concerned with this area.
It's what I based this plan, off of…
Grover continues scanning the area, even pulling out a pair of binoculars...
Dissolve to them now taking an off-ramp, as Grover turns on his radio, speaking into it.
GROVER
(into radio)
Grover here. Portland camp, read?
MARSHALL
(over radio)
Portland camp, here. Marshall speaking.
GROVER
(into radio)
Marshall my man, things doing okay there? And before
you answer, let Solis know to proceed with the Glenwood
transportation plan; we'll be there shortly.
Dissolve to them arriving at the Portland camp, where Solis and Marshall are directing a ton of the people there, who are boarding onto buses. It's mostly women and children. Pepsi is seen boarding a bus, holding hands with Coke and Chance. Moon and Shine are loading their supplies into the back of a U-Haul truck. Grover comes out of his truck, shaking hands with Solis and Marshall.
SOLIS
Good to see you.
GROVER
Great job getting these people ready in such little time.
I forgot to ask, how's that kid, doing? You find him a
loving mommy? You find the sob who left him on that
bus?
MARSHALL
The loving mom part, yes, and the woman who took
him in, had one hell of a story to put the kid to, but
had no idea who brought him on the bus. But she got
the kid to point his ass out.
GROVER
Nice! Introduce us!
MARSHALL
She's on the bus.
GROVER
No; the guy who deserted the kid!
Dissolve to Grover (with a couple of his men) walking into a room where the guy is locked up. He's younger than Grover, maybe 25. Grover just stares at him for a moment…
GROVER
I really wish I had more time to play this out, and
think of all the ways to make you feel the way you
made that poor little boy feel.
Grover pulls out a pistol and shoots both the guy's legs…
GROVER
So, I'll just let you think about it for a while. (speaking
to his men) Tie him up, and make sure he can't off
himself, before I make it back.
Grover turns and exits the room, while his men tie down the wounded guy…
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. GROVER'S TRUCK, HIGHWAY 6 – DAY
Grover's small caravan turning off of highway 6, and onto Glenwood lane, driving over the creek/bridge. The men in the back are nervously raising their weapons, as the lead truck slows down. Grover's POV of the area (before the log wall was built). He takes notice of the barbed wire fencing, and military vehicles inside.
GROVER
What the shit is this?
MAN
(over radio)
What are we doing? Are we fighting?
Grover can see soldiers taking notice of them, and arming themselves.
GROVER
(into radio)
Do not fire unless fired on. (speaking to Jeb) Pull off
over there, and be ready to turn around quick!
Jeb pulls off the road, over to the side, with the others following. The soldiers are scrambling around inside. Grover takes notice of a burnt car, still smoking some, and the damaged fencing.
GROVER
I think my boys have been raining fire on these bastards.
Let's hit em while they're down! (into radio) FIRE!
His men open fire, killing a few soldiers. A few soldiers fire back, but most scramble for their vehicles. Grover's men continue firing, as about a half dozen army vehicles storm through the closed gates, right down the road and past Grover's caravan, who continue firing at them, even though not being fired on themselves.
GROVER
(over radio)
Hold your fire! Hold your fire! Let them go!
The soldiers retreat, turning east on the highway and speeding away. Grover's truck speeds into the camp, along with the others. His men jump out and quickly hold their guns on the remaining soldiers, who hold up their hands, in surrender.
Grover cautiously steps out and looks around, spotting Eric, who comes rushing toward him…
Dissolve to Grover's men helping set the fenced gates back up, with the help of the remaining soldiers. Grover stands with Eric, holding up his radio.
SWISH
(over radio)
Grover?
GROVER
(into radio)
Swish, buddy! I hear you've been proving just how valuable
you and your fine men are. Eric, here has nothing but good
things to say about you, and your developing relationship
with one another. (Eric smiling) I'm glad to hear that, I really
am. Cause listen up, and play this for everyone to hear. I come
with good and bad news. First the bad. I won't be staying, not
even long enough to greet you fine boys down from the hill
top. Things are not going as smooth at the other camp. It's
too close to the city and swamped with the dead. You guys
have no idea how good you have it, out here.
SWISH
(over radio)
That's not the good news is it?
GROVER
(into radio, and laughing)
You're right, Eric, he is funny. No, Swish, it's not. The good
news is, I'm a man of my word. I've not only brought the
supplies, heavy machinery and equipment, to build the
safest possible way of living, in this new world, but I've
brought the WOMEN!
Pepsi and Kaiden helping people with their items, from the buses, and looking toward Grover, who appears excited.
GROVER
(into radio)
I've brought the BOOZE! I've brought the supplies and
personnel to make that moonshine, I promised, once the
booze runs out! I've brought more weapons, more ammo,
and did I mention WOMEN?!
Moon and Shine watching Grover, as they gather their moonshine equipment.
GROVER
(into radio)
So, get on down here! Get started on your new lives, your
new home. Follow the plan I've set in motion...and make
me proud, upon my return!
Grover holds up his radio, as "Grover! Grover! Grover!", comes over it.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. HIGHWAY 26 – DAY
Grover's small caravan heading down the highway, back toward the Portland camp. They curiously/nervously watch the other side of the highway (separated by large grassy/slope median). There are military vehicles hard at work, moving abandoned vehicles off of the highway, with men of their own, looking strangely at the Grover caravan. One of the soldiers can be seen racing for his radio, and contacting someone.
GROVER
Speed it up, right now!
Grover's truck speeds up, followed by all the others…
Dissolve to them speeding down the open highway, taking notice of an army jeep speeding toward an offramp. They continue to speed, as the jeep speeds after them, with more and more army vehicles approaching behind it.
Grover's men begin taking aim, and once within rage, they open fire. They keep the first jeep from catching them, but then the other vehicles catch up, and the military begins firing back!
It's a wild shootout on the long stretch of highway!
One of Grover's men is shot dead, falling over the railing of the truck, onto the ground, and then hit by one of the army vehicles. Gunfire continues, tons of it, as Grover's caravan speeds down the highway. Another Grover man is shot and falls off the truck, as does a soldier, who is shot himself…
Dissolve to Grover leaving the highway, speeding up the offramp and followed by the others, who continue to shoot back at the military. Grover's truck almost loses it, as it skids to a sliding turn off of the offramp.
GROVER
(into radio)
GET THOSE GATES OPEN, AND EVERYONE WHO
KNOWS HOW TO USE A GUN, ON THE OTHER SIDE
OF IT!
The military catches up with the tail end of the caravan, before they can turn off of the offramp. They take heavy fire, and the tail vehicle's tires are shot out, causing them to crash. Now the vehicle in front of it, takes heavy fire, until damaged enough to stop running. Many of those men are wounded or dead, and those alive, are quickly raising their hands, taken as prisoners. Their vehicles create a roadblock for the military vehicles, which now struggle to get around. A few of them go off-road, and make their way back onto the road, speeding after the rest of the caravan…
Dissolve to Grover's truck speeding around a corner, and onto the road that leads to the Portland camp. He's followed by others, who all speed right for the open gates, making their way through them, which quickly close, once all through. Solis leads a small army of people at the walls, ready to defend them. The military comes close, but does not fire. They just look around, before eventually turning and leaving…
DISSOLVE TO: FLASHBACK
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM – DAY
Anthony taking his seat at opposite end of table from Victor. Everyone is dead silent, waiting for Anthony to take charge, who looks them all over, and then begins…
ANTHONY
Since it appears I have your attention, I'll get right to
it. As you all know, the Bakers plan to complete their
family compound, by the end of this year. If Y-2K does
send us into the dark ages, we've made our own plans
for their end of the world sanctuary, but I'm not here
today to talk about Y-2K, or simply taking their family
fortress, for ourselves, if and when the world falls
apart. I'm here to tell you that we need to be more
creative than that… I don't think too many of us are all
that concerned with the computers crashing, over the
stroke of a new century, and most of us probably feel
the same way about the world ending in our lifetime.
Although I agree with the first part, I'm a little more
skeptic about the latter.
VICTOR
That's because you're too much like your father.
MARY
Let him finish.
ANTHONY
Regardless of who's lifetime it happens in, isn't the
goal here to provide security and a future for this
organization, and for this family? Or, am I even
allowed to refer to it as such?
Victor not happy.
VICTOR
Watch your tongue, boy. If you were anyone else,
I'd simply cut it right from your god damned mouth.
MARY
And I'll be cutting yours, if that's what it takes to
allow him to finish.
Everyone silent and in a little shock, looking from Mary to Victor, who stares from her, to Anthony.
VICTOR
Does she fight all your battles?
One of the other men (Cutter, 20ish) smiling with a silent laugh, and a look from Anthony…
ANTHONY
No, but she could take either one of us, any day of
the week.
No laughs, just silence…
VICTOR
And which day of the week might we expect you to
get to the point, to whatever it is you came here to
say?
ANTHONY
Here, I will dumb it down a bit, and get you all on
your way.
Cutter a look at Victor, as Anthony goes on.
ANTHONY
The lights are staying on, and the end of the Mayan
calendar is nothing to worry about, if we get that far,
but what does worry me, besides another Bush in office,
is the ever-evolving amount of terrorism, in the world,
not to mention overpopulation, climate control, and
worldwide rioting. I can see these things getting much,
much worse in our lifetime, and if not ours, then our
children. It doesn't make sense to me that we're not
investing in this, in the survival of what we have here.
As successful as we are in this world, imagine how we'd
dominate the new one, if we began preparing for it now.
I'm proposing a series of camps, all of them surrounding
those beloved Bakers, and the compound they've
practically blown their family fortune on. I've already
purchased the landsite for the first camp. It's the old
Glenwood outdoor school, just outside the city, and on
the verge of the coast range. There's already some
homes there, and I'll build some more, and make a buck
or two out of the place, while the world is still
functioning. I could even place valuable people there,
like perhaps a team of loggers, capable of putting up a
large perimeter, post-apocalypse. There's also a prison
nearby, which could have valuable supplies and men.
The kind of men who we could form an army with, to
go along with the one we already have.
Anthony looking over the men, and their expressions, as he goes on.
ANTHONY
The second location would be in the hills of the coast,
just outside of Rockaway, where the Bakers plan to
build some kind of creative hotel, which is to be
transformed into a part of their apocalyptic plan. The
fishing and hunting here, along with Glenwood, would
be phenomenal. Depending on what causes the world
to go to shit, and/or how quickly it all goes down,
evacuating to these places, might not be the easiest
thing to do, hence our third camp being close to the
city, even right there in it. A place doctors and nurses
call retreat to, and stay safe until they can be transferred
to the safer, more permanent camps. So, the real third
camp, would eventually be the Nike World Headquarters.
That place is designed to become a compound. If we
don't take it, someone else will. That would cover our
Oregon camps, with of course this location serving as
the perfect safe-haven for all of you, and the rest of the
organization. Maybe even the nearby racetracks. It'd be
a good idea to set a plan for taking on a ton of other
fighters, and strong people. Numbers will be the key to
surviving, other than that, of what the camps will provide.
Once the time is right, you can march your army on over
to Oregon, and join my army in overtaking the camp of
all camps.
Anthony staring right at Victor, before going on.
ANTHONY
The best part of all this, is I believe I can put Leo to
work as a major investor in it all, other than of course,
the Washington side of things. He has been a dark
cloud in that family, ever since we helped reveal his
multiple affairs with Mary, and that cloud has only
gotten darker, with his brother Hunter taking the reins
from their father. I am already like the son he never
knew he had, and my influence is all it'll take to get
him eager to be a part of his own plan. I can even
make him believe it is his plan. It takes the plan to an
entire new level. Now, it'd certainly take a reduction
from our own back pockets, to truly begin this
investment, and continue it through the years, but
isn't it worth the sacrifice, to secure the future of
our organization, of our family?
Everyone silent, looking from Anthony to Victor…
VICTOR
The creativity and depth to your plan is quite impressive,
but it's also quite unnecessary. I'm actually quite
humiliated for you, and myself for ever allowing you to
come in here and waste our valuable time, over something
with the reality of a B-rated sci-fi movie.
Cutter holding back a laugh…
ANTHONY
Yet you've gone to the trouble of organizing a plan for
taking over their compound, if ever needed.
Victor begins rising.
VICTOR
If ever needed… The dam thing didn't cost me a
penny, and is right there for the taking (looking right
at Anthony while walking out door). If ever needed.
Victor gone from room, with others following. Cutter is last one to leave, with a smirk at Anthony, as he exits the room…
Mary is walking over and sitting next to her son.
MARY
The fact he complimented you at all, means he
was intrigued.
ANTHONY
Bullshit. The room was full of the only people who
know of my affiliation with this group, and our
relationship to Grandfather. If he can't show better
respect in front of those people, then better respect
is a pipe dream. (looking right at Mary) I say we go
forward and do it with Leo, with everything on the
table. Who I am, Victor, his plans, all of it. Leo's the
reason I'm as wealthy as I already am, and can figure
out how to fund this project, just like his father did for
that compound.
MARY
(shaking head)
He's too loyal to his family. If I can't turn him against
them, no one can.
ANTHONY
Why turn him against them? Maybe we should be
working with them all.
Mary just staring at her boy…
MARY
Exactly what are you suggesting?
Anthony just staring at her…
ANTHONY
You're already a mole, maybe instead of spying for
Grandfather, you should be spying on him.
Mary just staring at him…
MARY
If I wasn't scared of you, I'd knock the shit out of
you right now. (rising) Take your damn meds…
(walking out) You're talking like a crazy man.
Anthony has remained fairly calm this entire time, until his mother mentioned "meds", which brought a look of rage to his face. He almost screams out at her, but decides against it, as she is already gone from the room. He sits there a short moment, before pulling out his phone.
POV text message as he types it.
TEXT
Mention meds again, anywhere even remotely
close to Grandfather, or the people of this
organization, your fear of me will be the last thing
you ever feel, other than the pain of the knife, as
I pull it from your damn throat!
He pushes "send", as phone then reads "Message sent to Leo's Bitch"

His POV of the army vehicles driving toward Nike World, and through a makeshift gate…

EXT. PORTLAND CAMP – DAY
Grover's truck arriving back at the camp (with plenty of armed men), parking as he climbs out, greeted by Solis, Marshall and others. Grover speaks to Solis and Marshall.
GROVER
Put together a team. We need to scout Highway 30
and all possible ways to get to the coast, without
using Highway 26.
SOLIS
Highway 30 is about it.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. HIGHWAY 30 (near Astoria) – DAY
A small caravan of trucks is driving the highway, next to the Columbia River. Their POV of all the abandoned cars. One camper has people peeking out at them. The homes look either abandoned, broken into, or bunkered down. There are men with guns, in the back of the trucks, aiming guns at a huff they pass by. They watch as they approach another group of huffs, chasing after an injured whimpering dog. They stop and go after the truck, until it passes, and they proceed after the dog. One of the men shakes his head, at the dog's situation.
The trucks drive along, as the men continue looking all around, until eventually they slow down, and all look ahead. There is a HUGE pileup on the road, completely blocking it. There is nothing but steep hillside, and the river on each side of the highway. The trucks drive as close as they can, as the men begin jumping out and looking around. They climb up on top of a big rig, looking out over the pileup of vehicles. It's a complete mess, and TONS of vehicles are braced against it all. One man looks out over it all, with binoculars.
BINOCULAR MAN
This might have started as an accident, but someone
put all these other cars here. Someone who doesn't
want anyone making it to the coast.

EXT. PORTLAND CAMP – DAY
Grover, Solis and others rushing toward the gates, with guns. They guard the gates and aim guns along the stoned fencing. Their POV of several army vehicles parked outside the gates, and soldiers with guns. One soldier grabs the mic from his vehicle, speaking over the PA.
PA SOLDIER
We're here in peace, and to offer a better sanctuary
than what you have here, and a much better survival
rate, in what appears to be a new world. Because
folks, help is not coming, or any answers to why this
is happening. You guys are way too close to the city,
here. The dead are in overwhelming numbers, just
miles from here. Come pull your weight with us, and
maybe life will go on longer than a few weeks, which
is best case scenario, I give you here.
Random Portlander rushing a blowhorn to Grover.
GROVER
(over blowhorn)
Cute story. What's to stop you from killing us the
moment we throw ourselves right down on a silver
platter, for you? Keep our Doctors and nurses, and
dismiss the rest of us? We have several more camps,
manpower and a real organization, that has prepared
for this day, and this lifestyle. You are free to join us,
or simply stay out of our way. We are no threat to
you, until the moment you become one to us.
Silence for a moment, as Marshall quietly speaks to Grover.
MARSHALL
Why tell them about our doctors and nurses?
GROVER
I know; it gives them more reason to want us, but
less to open fire on us, or completely blow us away.
PA SOLDIER
(over PA)
Tell me more. How safe are these other camps?
Where are they?
GROVER
(over blowhorn)
One on the coast, and two more even closer than
that, and one more big one in Washington. We could
use a few more fighters like yourself. Before our boys
from the East coast arrive, and we really take charge
of this side of the new United States.
PA SOLDIER
(over PA)
Now who's telling cute stories?
The PA soldier signals his man to begin driving, and the others follow, as they leave the area…
MARSHALL
You sure that was wise?
SOLIS
Grover's right; they were going to either kill us or
treat us like slaves.
GROVER
We're not done with them, though. They'll want our
supplies, and doctors. Prepare for a full evac, and
prepare a team of scouts to watch them twenty-four
seven. We won't move unless they're coming for us.
They don't realize we're aware of their location. My
guess is they'll spend time fully securing it, before they
try to invade us, here.

POV Grover, coming out from behind binoculars.
GROVER
We can actually allow these guys to keep up their

DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. BEACH CAMP – DAY
Anthony shaking hands with Dylan, as he returns to the beach camp.
DYLAN
Well, I hate to add insult to injury, but the military are
an issue in Astoria, as well. I'd imagine they're working
with the same ones you were dealing with. I don't
think I have to tell you how potentially dangerous this
situation will become.
ANTHONY
No, you don't. If both sides become organized, they'll
eventually want this camp, and Glenwood, once it
goes up…
DYLAN
What do you want to do?
ANTHONY
We can't use the convicts, it's too dangerous right now
to travel. Highway 6 belongs to the compounders, and
26 is dominated by the Nike World soldiers. Highway
30 must have been blockaded by the Astoria soldiers,
which leaves us with 101. We have to take out the
Astoria crew, before we can deal with Nike World.
DYLAN
Food supplies are still good, but if we get too invested
in long term "projects", it might be a good idea to take
some time to stock up.
ANTHONY
Longer we allow these guys to set up their own camps,
the more difficult they might become.
DYLAN
Or, maybe the more disorganized they'll become.
Anthony looking right at Dylan.
DYLAN
Their bosses are awol, and their supplies will quickly
run low. They're not as prepared as us, and will be
growing weak, while we're thriving.
Anthony nodding.
ANTHONY
You make a good point. It's risky, but as long as we keep
them from finding this place, I think it'll work. Let's get a
hunting team together, and I want people out of those
tents. Time to get more yurts and cabins up. I want a
scouting team put together, an hour ago, and camping
out as close to our Astoria friends, as they can. Everyone
else is here, and has two weeks to complete the plan we
put on paper, back before most of us ever thought it'd
come to pass.

Leo going to the windows, looking over the view of downtown Portland.
LEO
Yet the most important thing my brain ever shared
with you, was to go to freaking college!
Both guys laughing, as Anthony joins him, looking over the city…
ANTHONY
Hard to work sometimes, with a view like that, yet at
other times, it sparks just the right creativity.
Leo a funny look at him.
LEO
Careful; you're starting to sound like my father.
Anthony smiles…
ANTHONY
Well, then just wait to hear what I plan to say next.
Leo turning away from the windows, looking right at Anthony.
LEO
Please tell me it involves making a shit ton of money.
That damn compound is breaking me.
ANTHONY
Good and bad news… Yes, it includes making a ton of
money, but money that won't be going into your back
pocket… Although something certainly will be…
Leo a very curious look at Anthony…

EXT. BEACH CAMP – DAY
Multiple shots of tons of Beach Camp men at work, building yurts, cabins, lookout stations, among many others. Truckloads of dead animals are being brought into the camp, with shots of men moving them from the trucks, scraping the fur, washing the meat, and storing into large icebox facilities. Shots of women and children working the large gardens, planting and pulling foods.
The entire area really does look like a mini, much cheaper version of the Baker Compound. Windmills are throughout the camp, as well as everything else needed to survive apocalyptic conditions. There is a large facility, where doctors and nurses are setting up shop, and teaching teens or young adults, how to follow in their footsteps…
There is a shaded area with tons of trees, where a large number of children are gathered with a few adults. The adults are demonstrating how to kill the dead. A few guys act like "huffs", while a guy and a woman provide an example of how to move in on them, and make the kill shot. They now select a couple of the kids to come up and try, and continue working with them…
It looks like Leo and Anthony put together a plan much like that of the Bakers, in how to prepare their home, and everyone in it.
A couple trucks full of men and wood are leaving the camp, heading down the road…
Dissolve to those trucks arriving near the bottom of the road, and parking next to a brushy area, with a large creek flowing by. They all begin removing the wood…
Dissolve to them completing a large tree house, hidden inside the brushy trees. It's not much different than the kind the Bakers made. Fully closed in, capable of surviving inside of, and above the dead…
CUT TO:
EXT. ASTORIA – DAY
POV from binoculars, of soldiers using heavy and loud equipment to build a perimeter around their camp, which is next to the Columbia River, and near the Megler bridge. The binoculars move to the bridge, where tons of huffs are gathered, but unable to exit, due to a blockade on the bridge.
Anthony comes out from behind the binoculars, with a look of thought, across his face…
Cut to Anthony and his team, even closer to the bridge and the soldiers. Anthony uses binoculars to see huffs across the entire bridge, as far as the eye can see.
VANCE
(OS)
All that noise they're making, is drawing a crowd.
ANTHONY
I'm guessing they cleared this entire area, which might
be why we saw such a shortage of the dead, on our way
here, as well as the scouting teams have reported. I'm
guessing these boys started from Cannon beach, through
Seaside, and led the dead right across that bridge, before
boating themselves back across, while their buddies
sealed off this side of the river.
JEB
Then why don't we just unseal it?
ANTHONY
(smiling)
My thoughts exactly, but first, we need to trap these
guys in…

A man (Jarvis) speaks to the pleading people.
JARVIS
We'll get you on the way back. Pack your stuff, be

The people hug, with relief…
Dissolve to the caravan stopping, and parking near a sign for Astoria. They all begin hopping out, and reaching for supplies/equipment…
Dissolve to most of the caravan on the east side of a blockade (they just built it) over the road, and just a pair of large U-Haul trucks on the north side, and driving away from the scene…

DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. ASTORIA SOLDIER SITE – DAY
The soldiers are still hard at work, and making plenty of noise as they continue building and securing their camp. They have men at the river, pulling in nets of fish. They also have men nearby, guarding and killing off random huffs…
Suddenly, there is a loud explosion! All the soldiers rush to come look up at the bridge, where a second explosion now occurs.
SOLDIER #1
What the hell is going on?!
SOLDIER #2
It's the blockade! Someone's taking it down!
Cut to an army of huffs, now proceeding through the burning blockade, pouring into the area, and heading down the ramp of the bridge, toward the port of Astoria, and the soldier camp…
The soldiers begin to move, when suddenly gunfire is heard, and they begin to scramble for their weapons, and vehicles…
Cut to Anthony, Vance, Jeb and others, rushing from the bridge, down to the river, where several large boats are porting. They rush for the boats, while Grover stops, aims an RPG at the soldier camp, and fires. He fires a second shot, blowing up a jeep of soldiers, before they could drive away. A bunch more of his men are now racing down the hillside, toward him and the boats, as they all begin boarding, and taking off up the river and toward the sea.
Cut to the soldiers piling into their vehicles and retreating the camp, and the area, which is beginning to flood with the dead…
Dissolve to those same soldiers, reaching the barricade that was just built, and getting out.

They were just waiting for us! We lost John and Terry,
and others! It's going to take an army to get by them!
Dissolve to Anthony speaking, as Dylan writes down his words, with the same motorcycle guy who delivered letters to Glenwood, standing next to Dylan, as he wrote.
ANTHONY
It's quite simply too dangerous for me to travel, at this
time. I will do my best to continue communication. And
on that note, I need to warn you of an enemy.
Somewhere in Beaverton, between us and you, is such
an enemy. They've killed over a dozen of our men, and
are a large part of the reason I won't be traveling for the
time being. There is way too much going on, to be going
to war with anyone, at this time. So, for now, continuing
to build and secure our camps, is the best course of
action. That, and continue to grow. The more people you
bring in, the bigger our army becomes. But be wise in
who you offer this sanctuary too. There will be those
who'd prefer to simply take it, for their greedy selves…
Now… If trouble comes to you, then defend yourselves
and your land, with every damn thing you have. Leave
Beaverton alone, for now, but if Beaverton comes to you,
let them know who Grover is! The sooner we finish our
camps...the sooner we can invade Beaverton, together,
and show these bastards, who runs this part of the new
Oregon...
Anthony now looks at Dylan, then the motorcycle guy.
ANTHONY
That'll do it. We've been avoiding highway 6 and those
Bakers, so slide by them without being seen, if you can.
But regardless, you need to deliver this to our allies at
Glenwood. They'll believe you to be from the Portland
camp. They must not know of this one. We don't want
the whole world knowing we're here.
Anthony now looking over at Dylan.
ANTHONY
You'll have the RPG, and most of the men to
defend this place with. Keep my baby safe.

SOLDIER #1
We were just through here yesterday, and that was
not there.
SOLDIER #2
Isn't that the name of the guy with the camp? Grover?
SOLDIER #1

Yep.
SOLDIER #2
The Major's going to want to hear about this.
SOLDIER #3

Hey, come check this out.
The soldiers all round another corner, where Soldier #3 points up toward the top of a high-rise building, where huffs are roaming…
SOLDIER #3
Wanna have some fun?
He heads over that way, followed by the others.
SOLDIER #3
Watch this.
He begins waving his hands, shouting out to the huffs on the building.
SOLDIER #3
HEY, DOWN HERE. COME AND GET ME; YOU DEAD
BASTARDS!
One huff comes over the top of the building, falling straight down, and splatting its brains all over the pavement, in front of the soldiers, who share some laughter. They look up, as another one comes over the railing, falling fast, with more brains splatting down over the pavement, with more laughter.
Suddenly, a few huffs come around the corner of the building. The soldiers lose their laughter and work quickly to kill off the huffs, but with a half dozen more, now coming around the corner. It becomes intense, but they are working together to kill them off.
Suddenly, another huff splats down in front of them, catching them off-guard and causing them to become disorganized. Now another huff comes crashing down right on top of Soldier #3, killing him, and providing an opportunity for one of the other huffs to get his jaws on one of the other soldiers, as all the others begin dashing away. More huffs are arriving, and feasting on the screaming soldier…
They all pick up their supplies, quickly load them and speed away. It's a small town, which they quickly drive out of, and onto a road with nothing but farmlands on one side, and tall grassy/brushy areas on the other. They pass another Forest Grove sign, with another red R, and then a sign reading "Oregon Beaches" with an arrow. They continue speeding the road, right past a broken-down UPS truck. They drive away, as POV stays near the UPS truck, where eventually a guy on a motorcycle begins driving off, after waiting for the soldiers to disappear…
POV now follows the biker, driving through some backroads, until he comes to a view of highway 26. He goes up a hill, and parks under a tree, with a great view of the highway. He pulls out a pair of binoculars and scans the area…
Dissolve to him still there, with radio in his hand.
MOTORCYCLE GUY
(into radio)
I haven't seen a single one of them, since I've been here.
ANTHONY
(over radio)
Speeding by, now.
Motorcycle guy's view of Anthony in a Porsche, speeding by, and followed by a pair of trucks, full of men…
Dissolve to them further down the highway, with the motorcycle now following them. The highway is much clearer than it was after the apocalypse first hit. They are speeding it quite well, and go right past an offramp, where a Beaverton squad car is parked, out of their sight. The officer quickly grabs his radio.

EXT. PORTLAND CAMP – DAY
An eager Solis and Marshall, greeting Grover.
SOLIS
Thank god, you're alright. It's been weeks!
GROVER
It's been one problem after another, out there.
MARSHALL
We've got our share of them here, too.
GROVER
US army?
SOLIS
Yes, and the dead. More and more have been showing
up here, even a herd of them, that we had to take out,
which only attracted more.
MARSHALL
We've been keeping all sounds and noises at a minimum.
They seem to be highly attracted by sound.
GROVER
Which is something we put to our advantage against
another soldier camp, we took out. Maybe we can use
it against this camp, too.
Grover quickly nodding/shaking hands with a few random people, while on his way inside.
Dissolve to him inside, at a large table, looking over maps of the Beaverton area, with Solis, Marshall, Jeb and others. Jeb is pointing at a part of the map.
JEB
I actually know this area really well.
POV of map, with Nike World close to area Jeb is pointing out.
GROVER
(OS)
Will it work?
JEB
I believe it will. There's nothing around for them to
scavenge, and it'd be ideal for leading a herd.
GROVER
Then let's hit the city, and find us an army…
CUT TO:
EXT. CITY AREA – DAY
Grover's men leading a large herd of huffs, and combining them with another heard, led by more Grover men. They begin leaving the city area, onto a long road with nothing but trees and brush. Grover is in his Porsche, with Jeb.
JEB
This might take a while.
GROVER
Yup, which will take us to nightfall, so they won't see
them coming, or us.
JEB
Us?
GROVER
I'm not counting on the herd to have the same affect
it did in Astoria. More so of a distraction, so we can
get inside.
Jeb staring at Grover…
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. NIKE WORLD – NIGHT
Grover, Jeb and about a dozen other men, all carefully/quickly running toward a quiet part of the Nike World barricade. They reach the wall, undetected. They begin climbing over some broken-down cars (that serve as a part of the barricade), and then begin cutting the barbed-wire fencing. They make their way through, and onto the other side, sneaking down and racing to a secure spot. They then dash toward another secure spot, and begin peeking out and around.
Grover's POV of Nike World, and the people. Not just soldiers, but also cops and civilians. They're all being directed by the soldiers, to remain as quiet as possible. Some soldiers are at a wall, peeking out at the herd of huffs…
GROVER
(OS)
There's a lot more people here than I thought. Cops
and civilians.
POV Grover and Jeb.
GROVER
We don't want these people getting hurt. They'll
eventually be our people.
JEB
What about the herd?
GROVER
They're not getting in here, at least not now they are.
Grover turning to leave.
GROVER
We'll figure out another way.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. PORTLAND CAMP – NIGHT
Solis at the gates, watching out with other guards, as headlights come at them. They watch as just a single motorcycle approaches, arrives, and parks. The rider steps off the bike, with a floodlight on him, as he removes his helmet, revealing himself as Grover.
SOLIS
Everything good?
GROVER
Peaches. Put a ladder over the east side of the wall.
Everyone else is parked down below, and hiking up,
in case those army brats decide to trap us in here.
Dissolve to morning, with Grover, Solis, Marshall, Jeb and others at the gate, looking out at several army vehicles parking out on the road. About a dozen soldiers hop out, and instantly begin setting up a small camp. Grover looks at Jeb.
GROVER
Good thing we planned ahead…
JEB
They must have found the hole we left in their wall.
GROVER
(groaning)
Yeah, I was afraid of that. Well, let's get moving, in case
those brats decide to surround the entire perimeter.
SOLIS
What about the rest of us?
GROVER
If they were going to blow their way through, they would
have already done it. Once they make contact, just
stall and tell them I'm at one of the other camps, and
returning in a day or two. I'll grab my convict army and
together we'll tear ourselves right into Nike World, and
take it for ourselves.
Solis and Marshall look from Grover to each other, as scene dissolves…

INT. BEACH CAMP – NIGHT
Anthony at the front of a large table, with Dylan, Jeb, Vance and many others.
DYLAN
We survived here without the RPG, while you were in
Astoria. Beaverton sounds even more dangerous. You
need it. We can survive without it, again.
ANTHONY
Thank you, Dylan. I know I promised you a lot more
firepower, when I first offered you this job. I thought
we'd have more time. More time to bring in funds to
further prepare this place for its survival, in the new
world.
DYLAN
I believe I speak for everyone, when I say that we are
grateful for what we do have.
Anthony sharing a nod of appreciation, with Dylan.
JEB
If anyone has objections to risking what we have
here, to go help our Portland camp secure
themselves at Nike World, speak now. I for one
(looking at Anthony), am with the man who has
brought us this far.
Silence for only a moment, before everyone begins clapping. Anthony nodding at Jeb, and then all the others…
Dissolve to Anthony outside the complex, talking with Jeb.
ANTHONY
I want to thank you, Jeb. You've had my back since
day one, which really feels like a lifetime ago. Has it
even been a month?
JEB
(shaking head)
It's currently day twenty-seven.
ANTHONY
Holy Fu –
Suddenly interrupted by Vance, over the radio.
VANCE
(over radio)
We've got fireworks exploding down on the beach!
Cut to Anthony rushing out of the beach camp gates, as Dylan catches up to him, and they both race off into the brush/trees. POV follows them through, as they run about 40 yards in, before coming to an opening, with a downward hill, and great view of the coastline, and fireworks exploding way down below, south of their direction.
Dylan looks to Anthony.
DYLAN
Why would someone be lighting fireworks?
Anthony just shaking head.
DYLAN
It can't be Leo's family, can it?
Anthony begins nodding, while staring out toward the fireworks…
ANTHONY
Yeah, it's them. They're probably clearing the beaches,
just like our friends from Astoria. (into radio) Jeb, put me
a team together. Let's go get a closer look.
Dissolve to POV coming from a grassy bluff, of the Bakers down on the beach, in front of their SSH (Sand Series Hotel). They have huge bonfires going, with huffs falling into them, as they light fireworks, drink and party.
POV Anthony looking from them, to Jeb.
ANTHONY
My kind of people…
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. BACK ROAD (in car) – NIGHT
POV Mary, in passenger seat of a vehicle, driving up a bumpy road/hill…
MARY
You're doing the right thing…
POV pans back to Leo (freshly shaved head), driving his hummer, up the road/hill.
MARY
He has been more of a son to you than your own son.
Zane cares more about his obligations to the compound,
than he does his own father.
LEO
Will he understand the decision I've made? The
withdrawals? You? Will he understand that this decision
will lead to seeing the rest of my family, again. My boys…
my little Katie? Will he understand this?
MARY
No one but me, truly understands you. He will certainly
pressure you the same way as your family has, but has no
medication to force down your throat, like they will.
Dissolve to Anthony driving through the gates, with a truck full of men. He parks, climbs out and walks toward Dylan and Leo. He stares at Leo's shaved head.
ANTHONY
A new look, for the new world?
LEO
I hear you've been busy…and can use some help.
Dissolve to the next day, mid-afternoon. Leo walking out of his cabin, onto his porch. He yawns, and stretches…
He looks ahead, as Dylan approaches…
DYLAN
(looking over Leo's face)
I guess I'd sleep twelve hours after a day that left me
looking like that.
LEO
Yeah…coming off the meds is going to be a process.
DYLAN
You sure you can handle it? Or that it's the right call?
Leo just staring at him…
LEO
I made this place, as one where I wouldn't have
to worry about being questioned, like that.
Leo continuing to stare at him, before finally turning toward Anthony, who is now approaching the porch…
ANTHONY
While you slept the day away, we put together a
plan. Nike World will be ours, by this time tomorrow.
LEO
Fill me in…
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. HIGHWAY 26 (Beaverton) – DAY
POV of a small caravan, heading down the highway. Suddenly, the lead car is blown-up, as the others come to a halting stop. Leo climbs out of one of the vehicles, instantly firing his weapon, followed by a bunch of other men.
POV of a group of soldiers, under an offramp. Some of them begin tossing grenades, with one of them nailing another one of Leo's vehicles, as they all climb back inside, and begin driving away, before stopping, and making a stand. They stay there on the road, parked together, and waiting as a bunch of army vehicles are now speeding their direction…
Leo suddenly launches a grenade, followed by several more. One of them hits and blows up one of the army vehicles, and causing the others to come to a halting stop, in the road. Leo and his men are now opening heavy gunfire on them, and making progress, but eventually gunfire is returned, as both sides go at it, for a bit…
Now, more grenades are being tossed, by the soldiers, who begin inching closer to Leo's men, who eventually begin climbing back in their vehicles, retreating without Leo, who is the last one to follow after them.
The army speeds after them, chasing them down the highway a bit, before stopping, and turning back…
Leo turning back, watching the soldiers turn around and leave. He grabs his radio.
LEO
(into radio)
Where are you chicken shit bastards going?!
Dissolve to Leo and the caravan, a little deeper into the coast range, and now greeted with a much larger caravan, coming to a stop in the road, directly in front of them. An angry Anthony comes out of his truck. Leo creeps out of his. Everyone else just watching Anthony, coming to Leo, speaking before he arrives next to him.
ANTHONY
I don't know if I'm more upset by the idiot not taking
his medication, (now looking around at Leo's men) OR
THE IDIOTS FOLLOWING THE IDIOT NOT TAKING HIS
MEDICATION!
Anthony continues looking around at them all, the bullet holes, and the missing two vehicles and men.
ANTHONY
And from the looks of it, you also lost some men,
(looking directly at Leo) didn't you?! I had a plan, a
REAL GAME PLAN! WHAT THE HELL WAS YOURS?! WHY
NOT WAIT FOR THE REST OF YOUR GOD DAMN
ARMY?! You were on board with the convicts! Why not
use them?! What the hell WAS WRONG WITH MY PLAN?!
All of Anthony's men outside their vehicles, just staring at the scene on the road, between Anthony and Leo, who answers him with a hushed tone.
LEO
I…I don't know if I can trust you…
Anthony just shaking his head, in shock over the situation…
DISSOLVE TO: FLASHBACK
EXT. BEACH CAMP – DAY
The beach camp walls are only half complete, with tractors and equipment, everywhere. Eric is there, leading a team of loggers, as they put up the walls…
Leo and Anthony are walking through the camp, looking over the progress, until they both enter inside of a large trailer office. They look close to the same age as they are once the apocalypse begins.
Once inside, they begin pouring themselves some drinks, and toasting each other, with smiles.
ANTHONY
We've done it, Leo.
LEO
No…we're doing it. It might be apocalyptic ready in
the months ahead, but we have to keep this project
going. We need to create more fund making schemes
to further prepare this place.
ANTHONY
More firepower.
LEO
Exactly. The mistakes my father is making will be the
difference between the future of his fortress, and
ours. His has been complete for almost a decade, yet
he's stalled when it comes to fully making it battle
ready, so he could build the SSH, make improvements
to the Baker Boardwalk, and now has this crazy idea of
a theme park, and making the compound more of a
tourist attraction, than a place to survive the end, not
to mention keeping it around long enough to start a
new beginning, which is what his dream was supposed
to be all about.
ANTHONY
The guy sounds pretty amazing to me. That SSH is
amazing, and so is everything I've heard about that
theme park.
LEO
Of course it is, all of it, but at what cost? If the world
knows about the compound, then so will every
powerful organization left in the world, once it "ends".
ANTHONY
(jokingly)
Ahh, you're just an old paranoid man.
LEO
Okay, you'll see how nice it is to have a camp like this,
that is on no one's map, after it all goes down.
ANTHONY
If it even happens in our lifetime.
LEO
Remember how paranoid you were, after 9/11? You
honestly going to tell me we won't see another thing
like that in our lifetime? An even bigger and more
widespread attack? I think this place will be home,
before you know it. Having each other's trust, is what
will get us through it, and make this place work.
Anthony raising his glass to Leo.
ANTHONY
Cheers to that.
Leo sipping from his drink, while in thought…
LEO
We just need to get rich, again. Like Dad, I owe
more money than I now have.
DISSOLVE TO: GROVER'S 15 MONTH RECAP
EXT. COMPOUND – DAY
Leo is driving his hummer away from the magical scene of his family reuniting with young Samantha. Her moms are racing across a field, as Leo watches Brianna arrive and hug her daughter with all her might…
Leo stops a moment, just sitting there, watching in his driver's side mirror. He looks at his father, who is in shocked relief, of the return of his granddaughter. Leo then looks to the person sitting in his passenger seat, which is Fish.
FISH
You don't want to do this…
Leo turns back to the mirror, looking at his father, who now looks back at the hummer, even waving Leo to come back…
Leo turns back to the passenger seat, and now sees Mary.
MARY
You always have been, and always will be, the black
ass sheep of this family…
Leo begins driving away, with a look back at the disappointment of his father, who then begins smiling again, and joining the huge ball shaped hug, that the family is happily forming, as Leo's hummer disappears into the long corridor of Baker lane…
INT. BEACH CAMP COMPLEX – DAY
Anthony is at the head of a large table, with Dylan, Jeb, Vance and others.
VANCE
Not only did Leo's family take over the Portland camp
and beat you to Nike World, but his freaking son has
taken your image. They're the ones taking people in and
creating a fear/respect for the man known as Grover.
The man who rules the coast range of Oregon. How does
this not anger you?
ANTHONY
These people are no threat to us, as long as we don't
become one to them. They know we're here, and they
leave us alone. They even put up their barricades to
work for us, as well as themselves. Leo's son, Zane, is
doing the job I no longer have to worry about, and can
focus on just this camp. I would like to think of them as
allies, if and when a true threat comes our way. Which
is why I called this meeting. (eyeing Vance) Not to
question my decision to let the new Grover do pretty
much exactly what I would have been doing, myself.
Since I do find myself with more time, I'm proposing we
focus our attention on the North side of our world. We
rebuilt the barricade on the Megler bridge, in Astoria, to
help keep a dead free zone along this entire north side
of the Oregon coast. I'm thinking we should go a different
route. There's already a huge herd at the bridge, and
deep into Washington. Let's invite them on over to
Oregon, and flood the coast line from there, to here,
providing a great security system against those who could
be an actual threat. We're good for now, when it comes
to the camp, but we should never stop adding on, and
even following the plan Leo's family is adopting, of living
off the ground, above the dead. Lots to do, and all the
time in the world to do it.
Many of them beginning to nod in agreement.
DYLAN
I'm sold on that.
JEB
Yes, sir.
VANCE
Does sound like fun…

EXT. MEGLER BRIDGE – DAY
POV begins in Washington, with huffs EVERYWHERE. POV travels over them, coming to a long line of them, leading out onto the Megler bridge, and across it, coming to Anthony leading a team of his men, including Jeb and Vance, as they use machinery to remove the barricade, with all the huffs waiting on the other side…
Most men begin leaving the area, including those who drive the heavy machinery…
Cut to the heavy machinery, boarding onto large semis flatbeds. The semis begin driving away, with truckloads of men, also driving away with them…
Cut to Grover at the bank of the Columbia river, holding a radio, as he boards a large boat. POV is from afar, so you can't hear him, as he speaks into the radio…
Cut to a handful of men on the Megler bridge, listening to the radio, before quickly moving to open up the rest of the barricade, and racing away, as the army of huffs begin to pour onto the other side of the barricade…
Cut to those men huffing and puffing, as they race to the boat and up aboard. The boat begins speeding across the river, followed by a tugboat, tugging the same car float that was used by Zane and Mason in EP 3.2, and full of vehicles and men. POV Anthony, on the boat.
ANTHONY
I still can't believe Leo got his family to let us use their
car float. (looking at Vance) I told you, allies…
Cut to them docking on the Washington side, and watching as the army of huffs continue to follow all the rest of them, across the bridge and into Oregon/Astoria. They begin driving the vehicles off the car float…
Cut to them traveling a road, passing a sign reading Seattle and Olympia…
Cut to them now slowly driving (dusk), and returning to the Megler bridge, with another huge herd of huffs…
The bulk of the caravan is already away from the huffs, who are led by one vehicle, which speeds away from them, right as an abandoned vehicle on the bridge is hit with a grenade, causing the herd to travel onto the bridge…
Cut to a brand-new day, with yet another herd of huffs, being led onto the Megler bridge, crossing into Oregon…
Cut to the caravan, leaving a city area, with another herd…
Cut to that herd, now being led onto the Megler bridge, by more grenades…
Cut to Jeb holding a radio, while down by the bank of the river, and next to the tug boat.
VANCE
(over radio)
Yeah, we're about five miles out, and have the mother
load of all herds. We went all the way to Seattle for this
one.
JEB
Was starting to think you went to Canada…
Cut to Anthony (with a smile) watching Vance lead a humongous herd, their way…
Cut to that herd, now entering the bridge, as POV crosses with them, and passing them by…
POV continues over the huge herd, which never seems to end, and it goes into Astoria, and all through the area, and down highway 101…
POV finally comes to the end of it, and continues going through the empty town, with a few random huffs, here and there. As POV keeps going, it begins coming to more and more huffs, until it comes to an area with nothing but huffs, everywhere, and as POV keeps going, there is no end to this herd, which floods almost the entire coastline, along this area, between Astoria and close to Rockway, and the barricade there…
POV tugboat in the ocean, near Rockaway, and the barricade, as it sails between the jetties…

INT. FANCY BEDROOM – NIGHT
Anthony in bed, next to Jordan, who climbs out and begins putting on her clothes, while Anthony watches.
ANTHONY
Leaving already?
JORDAN
I'm on a plane in the morning. New York, remember?
ANTHONY
Cutter going, too? Or does he actually trust his
girlfriend, alone in the Big Apple?
JORDAN
He isn't, he does, and he shouldn't.
ANTHONY
I guess that means you'll be leaving Shepard's bed,
this time tomorrow night.
JORDAN
Nope; his bed I'll leave in the morning…
Jordan dressed and leaving the room.

INT. BEACH CAMP (cabin) – NIGHT
Anthony inside his cabin, with Vance.
ANTHONY
You're sure you're up for this?
VANCE
I'm your man. None of those compounders have ever
seen me. I can pull this off.
ANTHONY
You're just there to be my eyes and ears…but if I ever
make a move, then you'll know what to do. (Vance nodding)
Billy is already there, but go ahead and take one more man,
of your choice.
VANCE
I know exactly who to take.
ANTHONY
Travel outside of the area, meet and make friends with
some others, and then lead them back this way. The
compounders have taken in tons of people from the
coastal towns. If you have to, just start camping out as
close as you can to their hotel, down there.
Anthony rising, as does Vance.
VANCE
I won't let you down…
They shake hands, and Vance goes for the door.
ANTHONY
If I do make a move…the key to everything, will be you.
Vance nodding at him, as he goes out the door. Anthony closes it behind him, and walks to his bedroom, reaching for his meds. He's about to pop one into his mouth, but is suddenly spooked by his mother, sitting in a chair, in the corner of his room.
MARY
You're running dangerously low on those things…
weaning yourself off, doesn't quite look to be working.
He pops the pill and exits the room.
ANTHONY

EXT. BEACH CAMP – DAY
POV travels around the backend of the camp, and over all the yurts, which are now on top of platforms, about six feet off the ground, with little ladders. Many of the trees have tree houses, nice ones. Kids are running around, kicking balls, having fun, living life…
POV comes to Anthony and Leo, on a cabin porch…
ANTHONY
It's been almost a year, since it all started…and since
you stopped taking the meds. You're still seeing her;
I know you are. It won't ever stop, Leo. Go to your
family. They have a lifetime supply. It doesn't make
any sense not to take them. Imagine what you'll be
capable of. You don't need her, anymore.
LEO
It's not her…
Anthony looks at Leo, who looks an emotional mess…
LEO
It's my Katie. My boys, Troy and Jagger.
Leo looks to Anthony, then to Mary, and then all around, at the sight on no one else…
LEO
If I medicate, they'll never arrive, and I'd leave,
and return to Zane, who would only remind me
of my family. That kind of pain would only make
me a kind of crazy, that no one wants to see…
Anthony just staring at Leo, who stares out past a smiling Mary…
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. ANTHONY'S ROOM – DAY
Mary follows Anthony into his room. He looks frustrated. He reaches for his bottle, staring inside, at one single pill. He looks at Mary, who just stares back at him. He reaches for the pill, and pops it. Mary dissolves, and Anthony leaves the room.
Anthony enters front room and stops. He just stands there, closing his eyes. Suddenly, there is the faint sound of a helicopter. He opens his eyes, and listens. It is indeed a helicopter, as it comes closer. He dashes outside, where others, including Dylan, Jeb and Leo are all coming to look…
A helicopter is coming right for them, and once above them, simply lingers, before coming down for a landing, right inside of their camp. Many of the men have weapons, and are aiming fight at it. Both Leo and Anthony eventually raise and lower their hands, for the others to hold their fire…
Eventually the door to the helicopter opens, and both Jordan and Cutter come out, with Mick behind them…
Cutter begins smiling, as he approaches Anthony. He's about to address him, before Leo jumps in.
LEO
I was wondering if you survived it, Cutter.
Both Cutter and Anthony throw a shocked look at Leo, totally surprised at his knowledge of who Cutter is.
CUTTER
Well I certainly know you, but would you mind
explaining just how in the hell you know me?
LEO
Mary told me everything. Your plans for the compound,
all of it. What I don't know, is exactly how you found
this place. Take it, if you want, or Glenwood and Nike
World, where my family is staying.
JORDAN
Bullshit; why wouldn't they be staying at their
fancy compound?
CUTTER
She means our fancy compound.
LEO
You mean the US Army's fancy compound.
Cutter's expression instantly changing.
CUTTER
What the hell are you talking about?
LEO
They took it over, eight days after it all went down.
Tanks, firepower, they have it all. My family wouldn't
fight them, but now that you're here, it's time we take
that place back!
Everyone just staring at Leo, eventually a smile from Jordan
JORDAN
I'm kinda digging this old dude.
CUTTER
He was medicated in the old world. (looking right at
him) You still medicated in this new world, old man?
Because the Leo I've always heard about, is a lot
smarter than the kind who wants to attack the US
Army, behind walls like that of your family compound.
LEO
If I had them to take, I would. They were lost when
they took over the compound.
CUTTER
We have plenty of that kind of stuff, at our camp.
Maybe you should come with us. My grandfather
would love to meet you.
LEO
You promise to leave this camp, and these people
alone, along with Glenwood and Nike World.
CUTTER
Of course; those places mean nothing, as long as the
US army is holding up nearby. We don't seem to have
that problem in Washington, so maybe Oregon's not
looking as good as we'd hoped for. At least not until
Shepard arrives.
Jordan sharing a look with Anthony.
JORDAN
Let's get going, this place is a joke.
CUTTER
Let's go, old man.
Anthony grabs Leo.
ANTHONY
Just a second. I want to talk to my man, first.
Anthony leading Leo away, with looks from Cutter and Jordan…
Dissolve to them entering inside of Leo's cabin, where he begins grabbing just a few items.
ANTHONY
You don't have to do this. We can shoot them dead.
LEO
Yes, we can, but it'll only make it worse, and they'll
certainly come looking for them.
ANTHONY
So, what the hell is your plan?!
LEO
I'm mostly winging it. Come up with my best material,
that way.
ANTHONY
I need you here, Leo. We made this place, together.
Your place is here.
LEO
There is no here, if I don't fix this problem. They will
come for this place, the compound, all of it.
ANTHONY
I know they will. I know it the same way you know it.
Leo staring right at him…
LEO
What are you talking about?
ANTHONY
Mary…I'm talking about Mary. My mother.
Leo's eyes wide, with shock, and staring him over…
ANTHONY

Leo hangs up, without listening to the third message, and instantly begins dialing.
MARY
(over phone)
Leo?
LEO
(into phone)
Mary, is everything alright?
MARY
(over phone)
It's not…I need you. I'm here; at the Surfside Resort.
I'm in room 219. I'm leaving for New York, tomorrow,
and might never be back.
Leo looks devasted, at that information…
LEO
(into phone)
I'll be right there…
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. MOTEL ROOM – DAY
Leo lying in bed with Mary, under blankets, holding each other, in silence…
MARY
What would you name our son?
Leo just smiling…
LEO
I guess something neutral, in case our son is a girl.
Mary giggling and playfully hitting him.
MARY
Stop teasing me. You know what I meant!
Leo laughing…
LEO
I want at least one of each. Katie and Grover are
the names I came up with, when I was too young
to even remember.
MARY
Why those names?
LEO
My dad's mom was named Kate, and an amazing
woman, just like her great granddaughter would be.
Grover, I don't know. It's kind of embarrassing.
MARY
(smiling)
Leo shy? Never!
LEO
It's silly.
MARY
(teasing him)
Come on…
LEO
I loved camping when I was a kid, in Forest Grove.
Just seeing the signs, got me so excited. I drew
pictures of them, and became obsessed with the
area, the beauty, the name. I played around with
Grove some, but then Grover just sounded much
better, and I adopted it.
Mary just smiling at him…
LEO
What?
MARY
I like it. Grover it is.
LEO
Then you better come back from New York, after
school, cause it's where I'll be coming back to. I
could never live elsewhere.
MARY
Nope, after going off to school with your girlfriend,
you'll eventually propose to her, and forget all about
me, (touching her stomach) and our baby boy Grover.
Leo laughing.
LEO
Promise me you won't fall for someone else, and
I will promise not to propose.
MARY
Oh, you are just terrible! And here I thought you
were about to say something sweet! Hope our son
is a better man!
Leo laughing and tickling her, being silly.
LEO
Nope, like father like son, and the two of us will drive
you crazy!
They laugh and tickle each other, as scene dissolves…
DISSOLVE TO: GROVER'S 15 MONTH RECAP
INT. LEO'S CABIN – DAY
Leo looking at Anthony, in complete shock…
ANTHONY
It's true…Dad.
MARY
(OS)
LIKE HELL IT IS!
Leo actually jumps, at the loud terrifying sound of his wife, with a look of extreme curiosity from Anthony. Mary is right behind Leo, now walking up to him.
MARY
This piece of shit is becoming no different than Zane,
and has no respect for who is really in charge, here.
These people are dangerous, just like I've always
warned you. One problem at a time, my sweet Leo.
ANTHONY
What's wrong?
Leo begins to leave.
LEO
I have to go.
Anthony grabs him.
ANTHONY
Just like that? Without saying anything?
LEO
It's not true; I would have known…
Leo walks right out the door. Anthony just watching, in disbelief…
He stands there a moment, before running outside, looking at Leo, already boarding the helicopter.
ANTHONY
LEO!
Anthony runs over, as Jordan awaits him, before hopping onboard, herself.
JORDAN
Don't worry; we'll take good care of him.
Anthony just watches him climb on, and looking back out at him. Leo looks next to him, and can see Mary sitting there smiling at him…
Anthony looks at Jordan.
ANTHONY
Is Shepard really still alive?
Jordan smiling at him as she boards the helicopter.
JORDAN
That actually surprises you…or just worries you?
Closing door, with helicopter taking off.
Anthony just watches, in complete shock at what has just unfolded…
Dissolve to Anthony inside Leo's cabin, destroying it. He's in a complete rage, and knocking everything around…
MARY
(OS)
ANTHONY!
Anthony is startled! And freezes! He turns to look at Mary, walking up to him from behind…
MARY
Forget him…now is the time…that compound is
yours!
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. OCEAN (raining) – DAY
A large yacht is coming through the jetties, that are a part of the beach blockade. It's followed by a full-sized ship, pulling a car float, full of vehicles. They dock and begin piling out, there are at least a half thousand men, from the looks of it…
Jordan and Mick appear to be leading them all…
Dissolve to the beach camp, where snow is mixing with the rain.
Jordan is walking with Anthony, into his cabin…
Once inside, they just stare at one another…
JORDAN
(with a smile)
Merry Christmas.
ANTHONY
Cutter too chicken shit, to make the trip?
JORDAN
His grandfather has trust in me, to find the truth.
ANTHONY
I'll already tell you the truth. Leo was lying his ass off.
I have a spy inside the compound; I actually have
several. Life in there is one giant picnic, and there is no
US Army. They do have camps at Glenwood and Nike,
but many of the men at Glenwood, are loyal to me.
JORDAN
Leo said they're loyal to someone called Grover, who
might be more of a threat to us than the US Army.
ANTHONY
I told you; there is no army. Leo was just trying to scare
you guys away, like he was me. Grover is his son, playing
the role of a character I made up.
Jordan giving him a quizzical expression…
ANTHONY
We have a lot to talk about…
Dissolve to Anthony leading the largest caravan yet, as they head through the gates of the Beach camp. Dylan and the beach camp crew are left behind, and all looking very quizzical, over Anthony's alignment with Jordan and her people…
Dissolve to them stopped at a barricade in the road, with men using machinery, to remove parts of the barricade, just enough to get their vehicles through…
Dissolve to the caravan now going through the coast range, with falling snow, that is not yet sticking…
POV Grover, in his vehicle, with Jeb. Grover looks back, and smiles. His POV of Mary, sitting there smiling back at him…
Dissolve to a group of random people, spying on a few trucks that drive along highway 26. As it goes on, more men come from the side of the road, attacking the trucks. They exchange gunfire, until Anthony and the rest of his huge caravan quickly arrive and swamp the area, chasing away the random fighters, who flee into the woods…
Grover watches them flee, and ponders what to do, before looking to his side, at the sight of Mary…
MARY
Kill them all!
GROVER
Kill them all!
JORDAN
Who are they?
Grover points to a dead man of theirs, in one of the shot-up trucks.
GROVER
They're an enemy who just murdered one of our
men. (getting in her face) Now do as you're TOLD
AND SHOW THEM WHO RULES THIS FOREST!
Jordan giving him a questionable, but fearful look, as the rest of her men are already reacting to his commands, as she and Mick follow after. Grover looks to one of his men, the same one who rode the motorcycle, and speaks to him and Jeb.
GROVER
You guys, Rodger, Clark, Matty and Johnathon are
going with me.
JEB
Where?
GROVER
Onward…to meet my brother…
