A/N: Guess who's alive! Me, it's me. Sorry for stranding you guys for so long. I've had a crazy busy summer, with writers-block and lack of inspiration stacked on top of that! So, anyways, I'm back, prolly not for long bc school started on Tuesday and I already want to die :). I'll try to keep up with the updates, but I'm going to apologize before hand in case I ditch again. I also spend too much time on Wattpad, sorry, not sorry. :).

When I woke, the room was dimmed and everything hurt. Every muscle cramped, every bone ached, and every joint creaked. I tried to sit up, but found that I couldn't. Heavy metal bonds were wrapped around my torso, wrists, ankles, thighs, and my neck. He-" I coughed from the lack of use of my voice- "hello? Bucky? Steve? Peggy, Howard, anyone? Hello?" I called weakly.

Footsteps echoed in the dark room as a shadow loomed over me. I shied away from the sudden light. A relieved sigh escaped someone's mouth. "The lights, please." A familiar voice said.

All of the lights turned on, blinding me in their brilliant glow. "Ow," I muttered. I squinted against the glare at the man hovering over me. "Howard!" I exclaimed. "Oh, Howard, ho-wait, why am I chained up?" I asked, trying to lift my hands.

He looked pained. "I'm sorry, Miss Ellie, but it was a safety precaution." He reached for a chain around his neck, but hesitated, his eyes flashing with fear.

"Howard, what is it?" I asked gently.

"Um, I'll send in Agent Carter. She'll be better at explaining everything." He muttered as he rushed out of the room.

Peggy rushed into the room. "Ellie, thank goodness." She skidded to a stop, her eyes widening. "It is Ellie, right?" She asked cautiously.

I craned my neck as best I could despite the bonds. "Peggy? Of course it's me. Who else would it be?" I asked, wincing when the metal bit into my neck.

"You've been acting strange for a while, Ellie. It's like someone else is in your body," she said.

"What? That's nuts, Peg. Let me out," I said, lifting my arms and struggling in the bonds.

"I don't think I can do that, Ellie." She said slowly, taking a few steps backwards.

"Excuse me? You cannot keep me here, Peggy." I snapped, growing more and more frustrated at how everyone's been treating me lately.

Peggy looked guilty, but made no move to unlock me. "I can't Ellie, I'm sorry." She said again.

I scoffed and relaxed, closing my eyes. I let out a deep breath, calming all of my nerves and anger. I failed. My eyes snapped out and I grunted as I struggled against the bonds, pulling my arms up. The metal groaned under the strain before finally snapping off.

With both my my arms free, I ripped the metal from my neck and torso before sitting up to rip the rest off. Peggy was backing away, her eyes wide with fear. I swung my feet over the side of the table and rolled my eyes. "Relax, I'm not going to hurt you," I said dully as I stalked past her and out of the room.

Peggy followed. "Wait, Ellie, you can't leave!" She shouted, grabbing my arm.

I spun around and hissed at her. "Try and stop me, Peggy." She made no move. "You're supposed to be my friend." I snapped.

She leaned back. "I am your friend, Ellie." She said softly.

"Friends don't chain each other up and refuse to set them free." I spat, looking at her in disgust.

She stiffened, ready to defend herself. "I did what I had to, Elena." She said briskly. "You are a danger to us all."

I laughed loudly. "A danger? When have I ever hurt any of you!" I cried.

"Well, for one, you nearly stabbed Howard yesterday, and almost choked him to death. Then, you went into some sort of sleep and someone else took over. We had to use elephant tranquilizer to sedate you, Ellie. You nearly killed us! If it weren't for Steve, we'd all be in the hospital, Bucky included." She explained.

After she finished, we stared at each other. "You're lying," I accused softly.

"She's not," a familiar voice said. I whirled around and saw Steve. "You really did nearly kill them, Ellie. As much as I hate to admit it, you're a danger. Until we find out what's wrong, I don't want you leaving this building," he commanded. He used his Captain America voice instead of his Steve Rogers voice.

"I-I don't understand," I step closer, but freeze when he tenses. His eyes flash with weary.

"Ellie, it was as if someone was in your body, replacing you. I mean, different voice, different speech, everything!" Steve scratches his elbow, keeping steady eye contact with Peggy.

"Where's Bucky?" I peek around Steve, looking for Bucky, who's usually right by Steve.

His face contorts in pain. "He, uh, he's...resting." He draws the word out and every alarm in my brain goes off. My heart speeds up, panic and adrenaline coursing through my veins.

"Resting?" Steve nods. "What happened?" I ask slowly, trying to mask my panic and worry.

"Uh," Steve looks over my shoulder, and it's only then that I realize I'm missing something.

I spin around and slap my back, trying to feel for my extra appendages, but find them missing. "What! Where are they! Where are my wings!" My fingers rake over an uneven material housing a large bump. I claw at the mystery material, not stopping until I cut my own skin. The bandage falls away and my wings fall out, dropping pathetically.

The muscles in my back scream in protest. I groan and tuck my wings against my back, rubbing the left one gently. "Why were they wrapped?" I demand, turning to face Peggy.

"They kept smacking us, which hurts." She smiles coldly, pointing to a large oblong bruise along her forearm.

"Oh, sorry." I mumble and turn away, suddenly smelling sharp metallic scent. "Is that blood I'm smelling?" I perk up and swivel around until I'm facing the direction the scent is coming from.

"You can smell it?" Steve moves into my field of vision, his eyebrows raised.

"So it is, and, yes, I can. I've always been able to smell it." I start walking towards the scent, my panic rising as I detect a more masculine scent. My nostrils flare as I pick up my pace, taking in every change in the mixture of smells.

I break out into a run, skidding to a stop outside of a door with a 'Do Not Disturb' sign posted on it. "Ellie, wait!"

But it's too late. I'm already inside the room.

A/N: I apologize for the sudden tense change midway through the chapter. That's a result of me being lazy and my PMs being full of people demanding for the next chapter. I promise I'll fix it, but I've still got homework do, so it'll take a bit. Sorry!
