Author's Note:

I hope everyone's healthy and fine. Also sorry for the long wait. Some of you might think that with the pandemic the chapter would come out sooner, right? Well, it's the opposite as we are mentally feeling like a caged animal. As a writer, one can't help but feel boxed in, thus writing is more stressful. Anyway, enough about me. Here is the final chapter, hope you like it.

The Fire Lord and Daimyos

As to Naruto, where was he during the war? With the Akatsuki looking for him and the alliance trying to protect him, he was somehow excluded in the equation. The truth is, Konoha did found him. More specifically, Jiraiya found him but couldn't report it early enough to include him in the planning. Instead, he went along with the Daimyos.

It was more of the Fire Lord's suggestion that was backed by all other Daimyos. Having read Jiraiya's report, Tsunade tentatively agreed that it's probably better this way. She knew if she forces this issue, she will not only alien the teen, it would also insult all the Daimyos so the Hokage had to accept. Any further excuses would be an insult as it's like saying they lacking confidence in the protection details they arranged themselves. It's a contradiction and an insult to the Mizukage.

In a sense, the Fire Lord's not wrong claiming Naruto being safer with them. Aside from herself and Jiraiya, Naruto's virtually a nobody in the ninja world. Hence, going with them is only a precaution. However, although ex-Akatsuki members like Sasori, Deidara, Nagato, and Konan knew his identity, for some reason the Fire Lord believe these individuals wouldn't say anything. Tsunade was left with a lot of questions when he said he just knew.

True enough, Naruto's existence was mostly ignored during the trip. Mei and the Kiri ninjas may have noticed him but she wouldn't randomly connect him to their war. She knew he's an important guest of the Daimyos, so she assigned him one of her guards. Despite that, she didn't deem him important enough to guard him personally.

Obviously, she wouldn't think he's their missing Jinchuriki. Hence, she also had no reason to think he's someone important or connect him to the Yondaime. She may later learn that he's the famous UZU painter but that's another topic. Thus, in her eyes, he's just another baggage attached to the group of nobles. Since the Daimyo ordered additional protections for him, she dutifully agreed thus assigned one of her personal guards to accompany him.

Mei also noticed the odd reverence surrounding the teen by the nobles but she didn't think too much into it. It was never her job to ask questions as her main duty was to protect the Lords and by extension this individual. Thus, to the very end, she never did found who he was. Maybe after the war and by chance the Water Daimyo might mention it but that's another story.

As for Naruto, he was not informed of the true purpose of the trip until when it was over.

"Ah, Naruto-kun. How is the trip so far?"

"It is great, Daimyo-sama. I had always wanted to travel."

"Not only to see the world but to see everything for real instead from references and pictures."

"I hope the real thing didn't disappoint?"

"Quite the contrary, it's more magnificent and majestic. I still have a long way to go if I want to visualize them in my paintings."

It makes the Daimyo wonder what height he will take his next work if he thinks they aren't up to standards. Nevertheless, Naruto will no doubt exceed his and everyone's expectation. Then the blond realizes something.

"I suppose that's not really why you are here?"

"You are right, Naruto-kun. You are getting better at reading the mood."

"I thank you for that, Daimyo-sama."

"Anyway, you aren't wrong. There were two reasons why we were on this trip."

"One is as you know, expand your knowledge on travel basics as we Daimyos discuss our future arrangements."

"However, they were mostly about you."

"?" the Fire Daimyo elaborated.

"As I have done for you, the others too were keen to offer you the same deal when you visit their country."

Seeing his look, the Fire Lord knew what he's going to say.

"Naruto-kun, don't be modest. Take pride in what you do. And believe me, your works are worth at least that much."

"Just do what you do best and let your heart guide you."

Seeing him nod, the Fire Leader smiled. Now comes the hard part.

"Now, remember I said there are 2 reasons?" our hero nodded in response.

While he didn't think too much into it, Naruto understood that the Fire Lord must have his reasons.

"The truth is this is also partially pertaining to your condition."

By now, he knew immediately what this is about.

Sasori, Deidara, Nagato and even to his distaste even Jiraiya warned him.

"You mean the fox in me?"

"Yes, the war had broken out between the Akatsuki and the ninjas. They have been fighting for a while now."

"We, as representatives of the ninja villages were giving protection as a precaution."

"While I doubt Akatsuki knew about your whereabouts but you can never be too careful, hence why I proposed this trip which I knew you wouldn't refuse."

Well, the truth's out and the Fire Daimyo waited to see his reaction.

"I see." he can see the Fire Lord's a little worry in his response so he carefully considers his words.

"Don't worry, Daimyo-sama. I don't think this is such a bad thing but thanks for telling me."

"Had it not been you, the ninjas would have taken me by force. They would claim it for my own good but in the end, I will be dragged into their war."

"At least in your option, I was given a choice. I guess even if I somehow refused you would tell me anyway."

The Fire Lord was delighted that he understands.

"You are probably right, I would have told you the truth and get you to come along. At least this way, you didn't have to worry about the troubling news."

"Yes, my lord I can see you try to bribe me, entrance me with offers or nudge me but not forcing me."

"My, my, my, Naruto-kun. It seems you knew me more than I do. Ha, ha, ha, ha."

"You know me, ha, ha, ha, ha."

That's how things are with Naruto, he had ways with people thus turning any conversation into a comfortable, friendly, and casual talk.

It's another reason why he valued their friendship. Aside from his incredible talent, he's easy to talk to and someone that can turn any unfavorable into something manageable. For some reason, he found whenever he's around the blond all his problems can somehow become solvable. He's sure his fellow Daimyos and nobles alike realized that after spending time with him. Some might argue it's the calm atmosphere that did the trick thus making the decision easier. Others thought it because of his paintings as they had mysterious powers. Nevertheless, whatever the real reason is they all want him around.

This trip was for that purpose as the Daimyo each tries to entrance him with offers, including a place and free citizenship in their country. The Fire Daimyo knew his friend very well, he never had the heart to hold him back. So the most he could do is support him as much as he can. Besides he had a feeling Naruto will always return because the orphanage is there. Naruto held strong ties to family, while they aren't blood-relatives he would never leave them. The same can be said for those living in his orphanage as they too have a strong attachment to him.

Enough on sentimentality, the Fire Lord askes.

"Anyway, now that the war is over. Where do you want to go next?"

"How about the 'Valley of Ends'?!"

The Fire Country leader grinned.

"Good choice, I always wanted to see that."

It was true because it's located in a remote area, he never got the chance to see it for himself.

The other lords were equally enthusiastic as they too are treating this as some kind of vacation. They knew what the Fire Daimyo was doing, thus they too were equally worried in the teen's response. Seeing their state they knew everything was fine, at the same time their respect for Naruto grew. Depending on the character, the news could sway a person either way. Some of them might see it as a form of betrayal, even a plot for keeping it a secret. It could even be considered as some form of manipulation but that's depending on the character. Thankfully, Naruto is none of those thus earning himself their respect.

The trip itself is also another strategy as they let Naruto pick the destination. Prior departure, the Daimyos would each suggest a site and our hero would choose one that piques his interest. Hence, there was no planning as they move randomly and by spur of the moment decision. However, they do generally avoid conflict zones and away from the main battlefield.

Once there, Naruto would scout out the location for his painting. A ninja will accompany him to serve as both protector and support. While the blond isn't fond of ninjas, his only consolation is that he's not a Konoha ninja. Once the Daimyos explains to him their usefulness in getting from places to places, Naruto quickly accepted the deal. He had to admit their 'Shunshin' skill is pretty useful for getting to high places.

It was during one of those sessions that 'Black Zetsu' attacked. Thankfully, his target wasn't Naruto as he was trying to get to the Daimyos. Since the Mizukage already left to fight Madara, Chojuro was left behind to guard them.

"It's good that Chojuro is capable as he managed to splendidly drive him away."

"Yeah, you should commend him for that."

"You are right, when the war's over I will do just that. In fact, we should praise all the ninjas taking part for their war efforts."

"Not a bad idea."

"..."

Then one noble thought about something else.

"Come to think of it, wasn't Naruto away during the attack?"

"You are right, now that you mentioned it. He did miss all the action!"

Everyone had a laugh about it but the conversation wasn't over.

"Seriously, you think it's something to do with that luck thing?" one Damiyo asks.

"Man, I wouldn't know. It's not like it's something you can quantify." then he added.

"Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if it is."

"Just so that you know, never bet against the kid. He nearly bankrupted the guards while learning how to play poker." warned the Fire Lord.

"Really, that's hilarious." everyone couldn't help laughing again.

"I thought only his paintings have that effect?"

"Well, he did paint them and it's a hell of a coincidence." everyone is quite mystified as they try to recall the circumstances connecting to his paintings.

That's when the Wind Daimyo added his two cents that brought a lot of oohs and aahs. Clearly, when the topics are about Naruto there's always something interesting to talk about.

"Is it true that he's the son of the late Yondaime?" quietly whispers the Earth Daimyo.

"Yeah, he is and the village sent his kid to prison." the Fire Lord answered solemnly.

The Earth Daimyo thought he recognizes him thus wanted this chance to clarify it. He's no friend nor enemy of the Yondaime but he had to ask because of Iwa. It's something he should consider if he ever invites him to his country.

Anyway, the news surprised also other nobles as they frown at their idol's past history. While their influence does not extend into the ninja village but it was just unbelievable that the higher ups would allow such thing to happen. Consider how the Yondaime was hailed as a hero for his deeds and character, they thought his son would be treated with reverence. Too bad, this is a 'ninja village' so they can really touch them. Even they want to, the said village falls under the Fire Lord's jurisdiction. So it's not their place to argue over politics.

Anyway, village politics aside, to these nobles regular threats are normal so they are used to it. It was one of the main reasons how they can still make light of the situation. Or perhaps, it's one of Naruto's painting that gave them that confidence. Of course, they wouldn't be stupid enough to put their life on a painting. Like most nobles, they see them as some kind of mascot or a lucky charm.

Nevertheless, as previously mentioned, the 'sight-seeing' trip continued even after the war. The Daimyos were informed of the new status when they sent lesser ninjas to replace Chojuro. They will get their own report when they return back to their countries but in the meantime, they can continue and enjoy their overdue 'vacation'. It's not very often that they get to be together like this, it's one reason why it's so successful as they talk about issues between their countries. This was especially true for the Earth Daimyo as he thought about smoothing things out with his Iwa ninjas over the issue of the Yondaime.

It had been established that Naruto will one day travel the world, thus one of his destinations in Earth Country. While it isn't happening anytime too soon, the Earth Daimyo had already reserved a place for him. Despite the short amount of time he knew him, he knew when the young man promised him something he would keep his word. It's no wonder why the nobles are so eager for an answer. All they need are his word.

As for the Fire Lord, he knew that Naruto will one day leave so he didn't tried to stop him. Creativity is a kind of freedom therefore he rather encourage it. Only this way can his art evolve and he's more eager to see it flourish. All he's asking for return is keep him updated on places he's been. In another words, keep sending him paintings.

The two had a laugh over it and the Fire Daimyo didn't going the extra mile by funding his journey.

"Don't worry, Naruto my boy. I insist on paying for your trip."

"Come on Daimyo-sama, you know I don't need any money."

"It wasn't just me, this was a joint investment by us nobles. When you are on their lands, they will be paying for your expenses."

Seeing his speechless look, the Fire Lord continued.

"Remember my trip?" he didn't let him answer.

"Aside from sending out invitations, it's true purpose was to unite the elemental nation."

"Ninjas may control the outcome of the war but we nobles are equally responsible for maintaining that peace."

"Naruto, you may not believe it but your painting is the 'key'."

"A key to open that door to peace, so keep up your good work."

To our hero, it obviously doesn't make any sense.

"But.. but, all I did was paint?! How is that bringing peace to the world?"

"I may be hard to understand, but your paintings have special powers and one of them is uniting the world together."

"Like I said, Naruto-kun. You just focus on what you do. I will handle the aftermath."

"As a matter of fact, all the Daimyos are in agreement to share your paintings with the world."

"So, travel the world as you like and follow your heart."

"We have no doubt you will leave behind some form of legacy in your path."

He's obviously talking about the 'Fire Capital Cathedral' and the 'Museum'.

"Knowing you, it's inevitable therefore we were willing to invest in your travels."

That's when he took out a passport and handed it to him. However, it's not just any normal passport because it's golden.

"Here, take it. That's your travel pass. With it, you and your companions will not have any trouble crossing borders and entering cities."

He was referring to Sasori and Deidara, as he had an inkling that the two will be watching over him.

"Remember, it's not safe out there. Hire a ninja escort even you don't want to."

Yes, Naruto had to be drilled constantly on the danger by the Fire Daimyo, Sasori, and Deidara. In the end, he gave in and promised to have someone guard him whenever he's on the road.

The Immortal

From the very beginning, Sasori had never strayed from puppetry. The ninja figures were just a means to improve his craftsmanship. Instead of functionality, he geared toward details. Once he's satisfied, he went back to making puppets. What result from that change is what you see before you, a crowd of stunned audiences.

Originally, he had used human corpses to bridge that gap but as Naruto pointed it out, he would never breakthrough the true meaning of art this way. Art is about life, hence using dead people he would never understand what true liveliness is. Seeing how true it was, he took his advice literally by actually going back to the very beginning. Thus, the ninja figures.

It's through them that he learned in-depth about his targets and what people see in general. Not in a ninja way but more on the public's responses to his figures. It was followed by much research and experiment before he's confident in what he thinks will appeal to the public. Ultimately, like every other artist, he wants to create something never been seen before. He wants to breathe life into that creation.

In the end, he created something he called 'The Immortal'. In truth, it's just a dancing puppet. When it was first revealed, his audiences were stunned by its beauty. It's human size so some can be forgiven to think it's actually a real person. Especially her eyes for they were filled with life and emotion.

After a while, seeing that it's not breathing or any motion. They assumed that it's really just a puppet. Despite that, they still kept a wary distance. Puppet or not, there's an eerie feeling they are being watched and they all have a feeling it's coming from the puppet. They can circle around but that same feeling didn't disappear.

Even from the back they have a feeling that she knew exactly where they are. Genjutsu? Perhaps, it was the only thing they could think of. It was so mysterious, some linked it to Fire Capital Cathedral's wondrous paintings. Did Sasori somehow achieve the same incredulous and godly skill? They couldn't help turning to the creator himself. Although a puppet, they can imagine the smirk on his face so they assumed it's quite possible.

It wasn't untrue, the cathedral paintings had been one of his ultimate goals. He wouldn't say he can surpass Naruto because the kid is unpredictable and can make anything on the fly. Hence, matching one of his masterpieces became his goal and he wants to get there with puppetry. The result is as you see. Instead of the holy element, he made it more oriental. It's just a different style, more serene and attuned to nature.

In Asian lore, an 'immortal' is like a god or a goddess. By Taoist belief, humans can ascend immortality by means of 'cultivation' (a form of meditation and training). It's a technique to help them transcend beyond humanity thus gaining special powers and long lasting life. Hence, why they are called immortal and viewed as gods. Like western gods and goddesses, they are pictured as handsome and beautiful with divinity powers.

It's no wonder they are stunned upon seeing the 'The Immortal'. Just when they got used to admiring the stunning figure, they were shocked to see it come alive. They almost got a heart attack when the 'puppet' suddenly blinks and look them in the eye. The moment she smiled, the crowd immediately fell in love.

However, what's unsettling about that is that smile not meeting those piercing eyes. They were cold and disturbingly sharp, one glance was enough to give you shivers. It's like they can see through your soul. Despite all that, the crowd couldn't help but still fall in love.

Then, before they knew it, she starts to move. It was breathtaking, the figure alone was already a work of art and now her motions blew their minds. Unlike your usual puppets, her movements were seamless, smooth, and fluid-like flowing water. Also unlike Suna's usual combat models, she uses all of her limbs. It's more troublesome for a puppeteer because there's more to control. Considering how accurate she is to a human, one can see how much effort is needed. Nevertheless, the result is as you see it, a genuine masterpiece.

As if that's not amazing enough, her performance took to the air. More incredibly she didn't just fly or float, it's like she ascended on invisible stairs. Even knowing it a puppet, the way it defy the laws of gravity is still breathtaking. Especially when her performance involving leaping horizontally from pillar to pillar. That's something not even ninjas can do.

While ninjas can walk up and down trees, stand vertically on the ceiling but her performance literally defies the laws of physics. Thus making it more amazing. While this can be explained through puppetry but the way she looks at the crowd and smile, many couldn't believe she's just a puppet. Calling her a human would also be wrong as she can do many inhuman feats. The reason they are confused is that her behavior is no different from humans. Had the creator not told them otherwise, she's no different to a human with special abilities. Which some may see as rare bloodline.

As if that's not enough, on rare moments she would show glimpses of her vulnerability. They could see moments of loneliness, longingness, sadness, and vulnerability through those sappy eyes. It was enough to break their hearts as it reminds them of their own past, first love, rejection etc. Puppet or not, humans can't help but be sentimental.

By the end of her performance, she's back to her initial position. Back to staring at the moon with her sad and longing look. Leaving only the moonlight touching her beautiful face. At that moment, the audience knew immediately that the performance had ended and a wide round of applause was given.

Sasori was right to call it a masterpiece because it's something 'out of this world'. The 'Immortal' may look just like any other human but its beauty is a dimension on its own. Then there's her captivating and mesmerizing dance. Despite it being just a puppet, it mimics a human perfectly, down to every detail. Yet at the same time, it was also unnatural as it literally glides through the transitions fluidly.

Not to forget its expressions as the puppet master somehow managed to incorporate human facial movements into the puppet. Her striking eyes alone was enough to entrance anyone, where she looks people can't help but feel the pull. It's hard not to fall in love but at the same time you can't help but keep your distance. In a sense, Sasori finally made it to the level where people do acknowledge his art. What made it more worth awhile is that these people are renowned for their sharp artistic senses.

Gaara too was there as a guest when he reveals his latest surprise. Despite his stoic appearance, Gaara's surprisingly honest and adept when it comes to 'art'. Due to his frequent appearance in the gallery, many came to see him as a 'gifted' individual with incredible talent. He may not be an expert on assessing anything but his insight sometimes surprise even experts. It was another reason why Sasori chose Suna as his stage.

By then, a lot of the higher-ups are aware of his activities. This include his grandmother Chiyo. When she found out he's part of the very organization that took Gaara, she was ready to carry out her duty and kill him. She was equally confused when she later heard he and Deidara was also responsible for bringing him back.

It was only through Wind-Daimyo's intervention that they didn't pursuit him. Officially, Sasori is still their missing-nin but in order to keep the headaches to a minimum, very few knew about his frequent activities in the village. Even elder Chiyo wasn't told, she's his grandmother and a senior elder of the village. She found out on her own by chance when she mistakenly took a passerby as him, only she wasn't wrong.

Since then, she kept tabs on his visits. Only now she chose to reveal herself as she casually made conversation. She maybe old, but she's still a ninja.

"When I heard you joined the Akatsuki, I was shocked."

"I was prepared to kill you for the village."

"That was before you brought back Gaara."

"However, if I wasn't surprised then, I was shocked when I actually saw what you look like."

She was referring to the past to how she first recognize him.

"It didn't take me long to figure out what you did to yourself."

"What were you thinking? Turning yourself into an actual puppet?"

Then again, that was the past as she continued.

"If that's not enough, I then found out that you have been coming and going to the village that put you on 'kill-on-sight' bingo book."

The elder may be complaining but Sasori can tell she's mostly ranting to herself, so he didn't bother responding.

"You know, the boy may be tight-lipped but he's still like an infant compare to a crafty old woman like me."

Clearly, that boy's Gaara. Sasori knew no matter how good he tries to hide it his grandmother will get what she want. So he didn't really mind, it's probably part of his plan anyway.

"So, what's with the new merchandises?" that's her real intention.

She could somewhat understand why he converts himself into a puppet. As much as she doesn't want to admit it, with her age she can somehow relate. However, 'Ninja Figures'? That's something she could never figure out. Why did he suddenly start making dolls?

"I must admit, before this. I would never guess it."

Somehow she figured it out. Again, it did not surprise him. It wasn't difficult as the ninja figures were just practice for the next level.

Making figures were just a stepping stone to the real thing. He had to admit, the business side also serve another purpose and that was for him to assess its popularity. It lead him to chose a female with specific attribute for his 'Immortal' model. As to elder Chiyo, "What? You aren't going to say anything?"

"What's the point, you already known everything." was his response.

Elder Chiyo smirked, her showing up was just formality. In a sense, it's just her way of saying - 'you did it, congratulations.'. They are still enemies so she can't appear too friendly.

Nevertheless, he's still her grandson so she still cares. So in their own strange and odd way, they greeted each other like strangers. As much as he changed his ways, his crime was too severe. Hence, grandmother and grandson didn't bring up touchy subjects like 'the 3rd Kazekage'.

The village didn't know because the evidences were only circumstantial as Sasori became missing-nin at the same time the 3rd Kazekage disappeared. Elder Chiyo probably knew and Sasori equally knew as long as he doesn't give her a reason to attack him she wouldn't pry too deep into it. This means not showing her his 3rd Kazekage puppet.

Another thing that Elder Chiyo noticed is his puppet. While others thought it's a masterpiece, but she can see her grandson didn't incorporate just art to his masterpiece. The materials alone is more advanced than Suna's combat puppets. Therefore she had no doubt his puppet couldn't just dance and a pretty face. Despite knowing, she had no plans to relay that information to the ninja corps.

The Big Bang

Over the years, with exceptions of individual research, he spends most of his time with Sasori. In the past, the two would bicker whenever they meet. However, thanks to their own advancements, they were at the point where they had to admit what the other did is also art. It's deep found respect they can't dismiss. To the two, their journey was worth it and the person whom they are most grateful to is Naruto.

Point to note, like Sasori Deidara too created a piece called 'Way to Heaven'. It's a firework that create a roll of clouds before opening a hole in the middle. To which golden light emits from within. It's like heaven opening up for you, total majestic and unreal. The event would last for an hour as the city people admire his creation.

As a matter of fact, most of his creation is about an hour long. Despite his success, 'Way to Heaven' does not have much of an impact on the creator himself as he claimed it's lacking substance. 'The Big Bang' had always been his dream, so even he managed to create 'heaven' he couldn't take pride in it. That's how 'The Big Bang' was created.

That's probably no true because 'Big Bang' had always been his project since meeting Naruto. So he just went back to his drawing board. Through years of research and experiment, he figured it out. It's as its name suggests, the very beginning of the universe. According to him, it's the theoretical display of the universe's birth.

What it does is after shooting his firework into the sky, dark clouds spill out and blankets the sky. It's an amazing phenomenon. However, after a while instead of murky color, the clouds would fade into pitch black. Thus, turning day into the night but people are used to it as they would simply treat it as night thus lighting up the city. Despite the inconvenience, few complained as they too are fascinated at what's to come. Usually, his work would last an hour, the longest 3 hours so people are prepared for the extraordinary event.

True enough, his latest creation starts off with a flash and silent explosion. Then everyone were treated to the amazing birth of the universe. It's slow but mesmerizing as viewers were treated to the unbelievable sight of stars emerging from the flash center. It was godly, like watching god shaping the universe itself. Stars appearing, galaxies expanding, spiraling galaxies, the milky way, the cosmos. The 'Big Bang' continued as the audiences see the universe expand, stretch and drift away.

It was both beautiful and mesmerizing as the entire city stop whatever they were doing just to witness such an event. Words quickly spread as people talk about what's happening. They learned about its name, what it is and obviously who was responsible. Everyone knew but its always nice to be sure.

There's no doubt when it's over, it will be the talk of the day. Of course, they wouldn't be talking about it for a day as it will be weeks, months, even years. Some of his older works were legends even to this day. However, what he produced this time once again blew their mind as words on the street says it's called the 'Birth of an Universe'.

While most would not know what it is but there are some more knowledgeable in astronomy that can explain the basics. It also helps that he's been calling his creations 'Big Bang' therefore some people had been speculating it for a while. They had no idea what it is any more because fireworks don't do that. Most importantly of all, a single firecracker doesn't last for nearly an hour.

Hence, it was an impossible event to both novices and experts alike. Impossible in terms of both technique and knowledge, yet its resultant effect are happening right in-front of them. Since Deidara's rise in this profession, many technicians and researchers had tried to replicate his work. They were mostly unsuccessful as they complained about the impossible compounds and mixtures.

In the end, he achieved his life-long goal. Although nobody knows what true Big Bang looks like, what he did is beyond their imagination. His creation not only moved his audiences, but even professional researchers in both fireworks and astrophysicist also want to reach out to him. They marvel in his creation, both in technique and mechanics behind them.

In a sense, he wanted as an artist, researcher (astrophysics + chemistry), maker (explosives) and lastly missing-nin. There will be more but that's more or less mixtures of the above. Anyway, thanks to his magnificent display, people can now feel the weight of what they have seen. That means through this one event another legend is born.

Unfortunately, there will always be those that wanted to use his art or some other purpose.

"What do you want?"

A small group of ninjas appear in his path and one responded.

"Deidara, I see that the rumors that you have lost your edge is false."

As he speak, Deidara can sense there are other ninjas around and behind him. There are even ninjas above with nets in case he tries to escape using his clay bird.

"As you can see, we are thoroughly prepared."

"What do you want?"

"We want the 'Big Bang'!"

While he only uses it for artistic reasons, ninjas find the concept turning day into night useful so they want to exploit it. Then again, Deidara is still a missing-nin so even if they kidnapped him it's still justified. Either way, once they secure him they can get his secret or use him as a cash cow.

However, Deidara did not seem nervous.

"So, you think you can capture me with this few hunter-nins?"

"We are an elite unit specifically prepared for you. You will find everyone here knew enough lightning jutsus to stand their grounds."

"So, why don't you do us a favor and surrender."

Earth jutsus are weak against lightning, it explains how he's so confident.

"What if I say no."

"Then I guess negotiation is out."

As he said that, those hunter-nins in hiding too show themselves and there are at least 30 ninjas surrounding him. Yet, the ex-Iwa ninja did not care.

His enemies are confident because they think they can anticipate everything he could do. All they had to be careful of are his explosives, thus the moment he start using his hands those in the front will attack and give everyone else time to close in. It was a good plan, that is as long as Deidara didn't have his clay. Unfortunately, the moment they are close enough their leader notice something off.

"R-U-...!" but it was too late as Deidara exploded.

The blast was powerful enough to knock out every hunter-nin but no-one was killed. After a moment, the real Deidara came out of the ground. It seems it was the clone talking to them the entire time.

Somehow he knew he was being hunted thus replaced himself with a clay clone and hid underground.

"Amateurs." he says as he didn't bother checking his enemies and left the scene.

He could have evaded them but he chooses to find out what they after.

"Still, it's kinda fun."

Killing them is probably easier but he had to admit watching their horrified faces were entertaining. So, he looks forward to another encounter as he thinks of new ways to torment or surprise them.

Sunagakure

As for Suna, no surprises to the world, they are actually thriving because of the national treasures. It's not one but actually 'two' national treasures. That's right, there are now two known treasures. However, they aren't the 'Night Lotus' and 'Karura and Baby Gaara' paintings. While 'Night Lotus' or 'Desert Lotus' took one spot, it's the actual 'Desert Lotus' itself that became the 2nd treasure.

After months and maybe years of searching, Suna finally found it. Depending who you ask, the legendary 'Desert Lotus' had always been on the researchers' list. Only because of the painting that there's been an increasing interest in the actual legend thus triggered a mass funding to archaeologists on that field. As a result, there had been many expeditions, historians, researchers alike joining forces to locate the real thing. Thanks to that, one team was successful thus became heroes of the nation. Ironically, they are now more famous than the ninjas that won they the war.

Funny enough, to the public's surprise during a live interview they claim they own their success to the 'Night Lotus' (painting).

"Dr. Fujimura-san, congratulations. Can you say something about what contributed most to your success?"

"Ah,.. there were many factors. The historians for locating the right spot, the researchers, and most of all my team."

"However, if I have to say it. It was the 'Night Lotus'!"

"!"

"The 'Night Lotus'?! The painting?!"

"Yeah, that's right. ... Finding the real thing was never easy."

"Through hundreds of years, many archaeologists had tried but none were successful."

"The difference between them and us is that we have a much stronger connection."

"And that connection is the 'Night Lotus'!"

"Dr. Fujimura-san? I am not sure I understand, can you elaborate?"

"Well, long story short, believe it or not, we were guided by the painting."

"..."

It's hard to argue without insulting the professor. So the interview switches to his assistant.

"Assistant Sakara-san, what can you tell us about your success?"

"As the good doctor says, it was a team effort. We couldn't have done it without each other."

"Can you tell us a little about that?"

"We all did our roles. It wasn't like we start the expedition and finds the 'Desert Lotus'."

"It was more of months and months of research, locating the source of rumors and sightings."

"Our historians and researchers did very well as they had to separate reliable sources from rumors and false claims."

"Even our investigation team had to go over 500 cases just to narrow down to a few manageable sources."

"Can you give examples?"

"Well, there were rumors that it was located off a cliff. We had to dismiss it because there's no cliff in Sand Country."

"There were many other sightings but after tracing it to the source, a lot were just rumors or someone trying to draw attention to themselves."

"We had 3 piles of information, creditable, pending, and dismissal. We focus on the creditable but in case of failure we will look into the 'pending' pile."

"Thanks to the people's interest and funding, that we could get to where we were."

"So our success is partially due to the general public's support, so a big thank you to everyone."

Their lively attitude, not to mention charisma and their humbleness only made them more popular. It wasn't just the professor and his assistant, their ninja guard, fellow researchers, and those involved were equally interviewed and praised for their contribution no matter how small they are.

"Mr Part-timer, what about you? What's your role in this?"

"Me? As you say I am just a part-timer. I take care of the supplies and equipment."

"Don't worry, Mr. Part-timer. You are part of the squad that found the 2nd national treasure. In the public's view, you are no less of a hero than the rest of the team."

"That's right!" assistant Sakara-san interjected as the camera turn towards her.

"You are part of the team, we wouldn't have made the discovery without both help and support."

"Besides, it was because of your allergy that the whole team had to stop thus leading to the discovery."

"Arrghhh. You promised you wouldn't bring it up."

"Hey, it was true. Had it not been you we would have passed over the location. So aside from the actual research, we need a little luck."

"It was the reason that most of us think it's the 'Desert Lotus's' blessing." assistent Sakara-san added.

"I see, I thought it was strange that you all one way or another brought up the painting. I assumed it was because of this?"

"Yeah, Mr. Part-timer doesn't have much of luck."

"It's Yosuke, Sakara-san. Why are you still calling me Part-timer?"

"Don't sweat it Mr. Part-timer." turning to the interviewer.

"Keep it between us, he failed his doctorate 4 times. The first time because he missed his deadline, 2nd time because of some freaky accident he couldn't submit it. 3rd time his research was stolen by some bandits and the last time the institute was burnt down thus along with his papers."

Despite she told them to keep it between them, it was nevertheless aired on national television. So Sakara-san had to make it up to him later.

Then again, her hyper-activeness is what made everyone like her, so Yosuke couldn't be too mad. Smiling back to the camera, the anchor then addresses the audience.

"There you have it, the secret to the team's success."

"Unbelievable, despite all their research sometimes a little nudge is needed."

The view suddenly switches to the 'Desert Lotus' painting as the female anchor continues.

"Those living in Suna probably recognize it, it's the mysterious 'Desert Lotus' or 'Night Lotus'."

"There had been experts claiming its loneliness, perhaps this was what drove the team to success. What do you think?"

She was probably referring to Gaara as by now he's more well known for that remark than his role as a ninja.

Now that the team gets to think about it, it was like they were blessed for the journey. They firmly believed it's the mysterious powers of the 'Night Lotus' because this was not the same as their other expeditions. Unfortunately, words alone could not describe what wasn't the same. Somehow, there's some mystery force guiding them and watching over them which some dub as the 'will' of the painting. In the end, they were rewarded for their effort and Wind Country as a whole reap from their discovery.

Little did they know at the time, their discovery would result in a new settlement being built around the site. Oddly enough, the settlement was built with a huge distance surrounding the 'Lotus' thus forming a large ring. Apparently, experts were concerned about human interference thus making it a restricted area. The flower was legendary for its independence. Thus, they think it's better to preserve than to intervene and everyone agreed. As a result, the actual 'Desert Lotus' became the people's symbolic existence, it became their treasure.

It wasn't just for the people, Kunoichis too were heavily inspired as they all stood proud and pretty like the legendary flower itself. In other countries, by associating Kunoichis to a delicate flower would be an insult but not in Suna. Because like the 'Desert Lotus', Kunoichis can be both tough and beautiful. Another reason is that their training is also part of that relationship.

That's where the perimeter came in. Aside from a few veterans, the rest of the security are aspiring recruits. Instead of guardhouses, they use training camps. Like the 'Desert Lotus' itself, trainees were forced to endure the unforgiving desert climate to complete their training. Aside from each other, all they have is their Jonin Kunoichi leader as she show them tricks so they too can survive the harsh and extreme climate conditions.

During the day, it's extremely hot as the trainees had to train in an open desert. Whereas over the night, it's freezing as icy layers of frost envelopes the land. Despite the challenges, none of the aspiring trainees gave up. That's because they can't, especially not in front of the 'Desert Lotus' that withstood that same environment over the years.

Their Jonin sensei made sure they understood that. And according to scientists, they believed that it's at least hundreds of years old. Although human biology is different but the 'kanji' to the word 'ninja' means 'one who endure'. In a sense, it's part of their training which some of the higher-ups' names 'Way of the Lotus' or 'Lotus Trial'.

Over the years, it was those that endured that trial became well-known and outstanding ninjas. When they tell that story, it would only made them more famous and prominence. That's how the 'Desert Lotus' became such an important icon. To both ninja village and the desert people.

These trainees will serve as both security and initiates to the ninja corps. It's good training and learning experience, it was also perfect for the budget as the village do not have to hire additional resources. In total, there are 8 camps, so 8 groups of initiates along with their Jonin senseis. When they first got started, there were 4 camps and only 2 were used. However, thanks to its popularity and success more signed up, thus new camps were built to accommodate that need.

Thanks to the increasing numbers, they need all the manpower they can get. They were mostly tourists, therefore to accommodate them both security and population too had to grow. Like any city, having more people mean more chaos. But on the plus side, this means more money and income for the villagers and village.

By using trainees, the ninja village can reduce cost while at the same time train their new recruits. It's a win-win situation and on the plus side, graduates came out of that program usually outshine other Genins. They were all mentally and physically stronger, probably due to harsh environment conditioning. Not surprisingly, it's a day and night program as the initiates learned to work with one another like real missions.

They were also sorted into teams and rotated frequently so individuals had to learn to adapt to their new teammates. The importance of teamwork was drilled into them early, especially if they want to survive in such a harsh environment. Individually, they had to be prepared because in the desert it's everybody for themselves. You lose your water, your teammate can't give you theirs. Hence, they learned to be self-reliant before contributing to the team, it's their version of teamwork. It's no wonder how they came out higher standard than your average Genins.

Similarly, the senseis too rotates between camps, but less frequent. It's like school semesters, they teach their specialties like swordsmanship, genjutsu, elemental jutsu etc. Nothing too advanced, just the basics so they can observe which students have the aptitude. Clearly, its purpose isn't just about teaching as it can be used by teachers to monitor and scout future team members or apprenticeship. Nevertheless, the program turns out to be more successful than they had anticipated. New Genins came out more versatile and much more prepared than usual.

While their goal is to teach and train recruits, their priority however is to protect their national treasure. Hence, they were all seasoned ninjas. To be more specific, they are mostly highly experienced Kunoichis. It's nothing about sexes, it's just most volunteers are females. Of course, there are a few male Jonins, that's because they don't want to send a wrong message saying that it's a female-dominated program. Still, it's a fact that there are a lot more girls than boys in the 'Lotus' program. That's mostly due to discrimination, as teens at that age worry more about their reputation

It's not surprising as boys at their age get discriminated by their peers when they join what they considered a feminine program. Like boys joining the flower arrangement course, many in their age would no doubt criticize. Despite that, it's the very same program that later brought fame to Suna's ninja program. Unlike Suna's uniform, these graduates were distinguished by having 'Dark Red Lotus' symbol sew on their uniform. Obviously they didn't get there by chance or luck. As a matter of fact, it was their outstanding performance that garners that attention. Their connection to the famous painting only boosts their reputation.

The other factor is that most of the ninja from the 'Dark Red Lotus' are female. That alone would be impressive, when they learned about their training they would be further impressed as some had actually visited the site to see the real lotus. It was through those reasons that Suna's Kunoichis left a lasting impression. The news would spread and the ninja village flourish.

Sand Sculpturing

Speaking of ninjas, Gaara on the other hand became less and less frequently active on missions. Instead, he spends most of his time building what he called 'Sand Sculptures'? It was something that infuriates his father but at the same time couldn't do anything about it. Why? That's because the nobles, lords and Daimyos were attracted to his creations. While he may have mellowed out due to 'Karura' painting, his son placing his ninja status 2nd is something he found difficult to swallow. As being said, he couldn't do anything about that since the people sponsoring his village are praising his son more than him. 'How does 'Sand Sculpturing' make good Kazekage?'

This all started with Sasori and Deidara.

"You know, Gaara. Why don't you start producing your own art?"

"Sasori-san, You already knew that I can't paint. The same can be said for puppets and explosive fireworks."

It's true, Gaara did try but painting requires skill and a lot of eye to hand coordination. Even imitating famous artist's work isn't easy, let alone copying the UZU work.

"You know art isn't only about painting?"

"Art isn't about only making puppets."

"Neither is it about only making explosive fireworks!"

"..." the youngest son of a Kage didn't say anything in response before responding.

"But what can I do?"

Clearly, he's at a loss.

"You know Gaara, this time I came prepared. I brought along a message from our friend."

'Gaara, only you can answer that. However, I believe you've already known that answer.'

The note is a bit vague but Gaara understood it very well. Apparently, Sasori and Deidara had been telling Naruto a lot about him and their interactions. For this reason, Naruto can easily see what type of person he is. He doesn't know whether this has anything to do with the fact that they are Jinchurikis but he felt a brotherly kindship with him.

As an artist and someone that went through a similar transition, Naruto knows very well the phase he's going through. Thus, he had Sasori and Deidara delivered a message. Gaara doesn't need advice, all he needed is a little push and direction. From what he hears, Gaara has both talent and imagination. All he needed is the passion that connects him to who he is.

True enough, Gaara understood. If he wants to produce something, it will have to be something he have passion for doing. After some time, he connects it to his pastime when he was building sandcastles. Although not recognized by the elemental nation as art, he didn't give up. Thanks to his skills in 'Sand Manipulation', he came up with something he called 'Sand Sculpturing'.

His father did not find it amusing but the Daimyos and nobles thought otherwise.

"Gaara, why are you continuing this non-sense."

"Father, it's something I want to do."

"You should focus more on training, so you can be more useful in protecting the village. Instead of this 'Sand Sculpture' stuff."

Unfortunately, that's where the Daimyo barged in.

"WHAT? Gaara is doing 'Sand Sculpture'?!"

"WHA.. Oh, Daimyo-sama? Good day to you."

"Yeah, yeah. What is this about Gaara and 'Sand Sculpturing'?"

"Eh, well. My son recently started some foolish notions in building sandcastles. I was about to reprimand him."

However, the Daimyo ignore his last sentence.

"Gaara, you got to show me what you are doing. I am sure the other nobles are interested."

"If I like it, I will even give you an S rank mission to commission it. Is that acceptable, Raza?"

The Kazekage did not have a come back for that as he stood there like a fool. Deep in his mind, he wondered if all the nobles are crazy.

In the meantime, the Daimyo urged Gaara to show him his project. Seeing the nod of dismissal from his father, Gaara proceeds to guide their benefactor to his workshop.

"Please come this way, Daimyo-sama."

"Oh, please Gaara. You have to be so formal. We have known each other for a while now."

Again, the Kazekage is dumbfounded. Just how much influence his son has compared to him. Anyway, deep down the nobles had been keeping an eye on young Gaara. Not only is he more capable than his father, he has also distinctive insight. Hence, the moment the Daimyo hears he has a secret project they immediately flock to his place.

True to their expectations, Gaara's project is remarkable. Although still in an infant stage, the Daimyo can see it shaping up nicely. However, to the surprise of the Kazekage news traveled fast and he had several nobles appear before him commissioning missions. The troublesome part are they all asking for his son and they weren't your conventional missions. They all want to invest in his 'Sand Building' project. He thought the Daimyo was joking but it turns out he wasn't and now there's a line of crazy nobles wanting the same thing. It's not that the village didn't want the money, it's just that he had no idea how to evaluate the mission's completion status.

Nevertheless, the nobles' investment wasn't wrong as Gaara's creation went beyond their expectations. He's already impressive with his 'Sand Manipulation' jutsu, but the outcome was mind-blowing. It's like a miniature version of the real deal. One of his finest creations is the 'Bamboo Forest'. He said he could add color but chose to keep it sandy which somehow make it look more mysterious and natural. It's serene and its textures were remarkably detailed.

That's something completely different from what these nobles had experienced. What's even more remarkable is how he solidify his creations. It's something that baffled researchers. Forming objects with Chakra isn't that difficult as a lot of advanced users can do it. It's the aftermath that baffled them. However, after testing some samples, they discovered that Gaara's been changing his sand at the molecular level. Thus, as a result even after cutting off from his Chakra, they won't fall apart and exceptionally durable.

Over time, his work was well known across the elemental nation. Like Sasori and Deidara, he too produces his own masterpiece and it's called 'The Eternal Sand'. It's basically some kind of contraption that let his sand to flow continuously. The whole thing is like a mini-waterfall in three stages, where sand would flow up the carriageway to the top before falling in three places. It was mesmerizing and mysterious as the audiences were fascinated by how he can make sand flow upwards.

(See "Waterfall (M. C. Escher)" in Wikipedia for reference)

(As for the slow-moving sand, think 'sand pictures' you can buy from Amazon, it's a similar phenomenon.)

Apparently, the trick was 'Magnetism'. By using polar opposite effects, he's able to repel magnetized sand upwards against gravity. It's secret is invisible to the outside because it's hidden under layers and layers of sand, so all you can see is sand flowing mysteriously up the carriageway. The truth is there are tiny ridges that are acting as stairs and one side of the panel triggering the repelling effect thus pushing the sand upwards. The hard part is the strength of the repelling force, it had to be just enough to keep the serene and mesmerizing effect.

Once the sand reaches the top, it descends like a waterfall in 3 stages. Although it looked like sand but its clear they are different. It's finer, smoother, and fluider than sands you see from an hourglass. Surprisingly, there are also mysterious glimmers during the waterfall. All-in-all, it was both beautiful and spectacular.

At the end of the final waterfall, sand will gather in the pool thus raising its level. That in turn would force the excessive sand through the exit then the carriageway and repeat the cycle. It was ingenious and marvelous contraption to both researchers and his admirers. There's little doubt Gaara will be another artist on the same level as the UZU painter, Sasori, and Deidara. It's both pride and shame for the ninja village. That is to have the village's most powerful ninja turning into an artist.

The success leads to multiple nations commissioning different designs of the same fetching around 5 million. For example, the Water Daimyo want a water version to symbolize his nation. However, Gaara can only sand but he suggested an alternative and used crystallized sand which is blue. From a distance, it looked like water. In the end, the Water Daimyo was very pleased and happily paid for the finished product with bonuses.

Konoha and 'Konohagakure' (Ninja village and Wall Painting)

True enough, once the Konoha prisoners are released and revealed the demon-made 'Wall Painting' in the image of their village. The civilian council acted and called an emergency council meeting. Tsunade knew the painting would cause trouble but she didn't anticipate such extreme negativity from the villagers. She may have read the report, but to experience it is another story.

It's like they were possessed, the moment Kyubi's mentioned these people want action. No, that's probably incorrect. They didn't just 'want', they demanded it.

"Just what exactly do you want me to do?"

"We send our ninjas, we destroy it. The demon had used the image of our village for unspeakable things."

"It's just a painting. It's not doing anything."

"No, our sources tells us it can hypnotize people."

That's something Jiraiya told her, not quite hypnotizing people but more like captivating them.

"Are you listening to yourselves. Do you even know what you are asking?"

"Whatever the painting is doing is now in the Daimyo's hands."

"If we sent our ninjas without proper cause, this will be an act of treason."

Of course, none of them really cared because the one doing the deed isn't any of them. In their minds, they think as long as the ninjas do their job they wouldn't be caught. They can always task another member of the community to commission it. If it's made anonymously, no-one could trace it back to them.

Sadly, Konoha ninjas were warned so they aren't stupid enough to take the mission. No matter how much they hate the Kyubi, they had all been warned of the consequences. Especially not after Yondaime admitted Naruto being his son. Only the die-hard civilian rejected that notion claiming his last battle against it must have scrambled his memories.

Anyway, aside from that the ninjas understood very well what treason means. While betraying the village they would be made into missing-nins but treason against the Daimyo, you will be wanted all over the elemental nation. Rumors have it that the Daimyos had somehow collaborated to form some kind of alliance. Some say it was because of the 4th Shinobi war, that the Daimyos urge to promote peace. Others say that it was due to some union that only the nobles can be members.

For some reason the latter was more creditable as it was the nobles that is on the committee spearheading the evolution. One such notable change was the infamous city of the slumps where the rich and the poor were divided. Today, you can almost not recognize it. There were also rumors that it was one of the 'UZU' paintings that forced them to change but that was too far-fetched. Only those that had seen it can truly understand the reason so it's no wonder people don't believe it.

Anyway, to most of the ninjas the unity of the top 5 Daimyos is a huge risk. If you go against one, it's no different going against the whole elemental nation. You would think after the war, the ninja villages would lead an alliance. While they do have a cooperation pact, it was overshadowed by the Daimyo's union.

There were those that tried to go against that power but that's like trying to stop the world from turning. With 5 major Daimyos working as one, the union has the backing of 5 great ninja villages. It wasn't just the 5 great countries as numbers of smaller countries' nobles are also on board. This worried many criminal organizations as they could sense the threat.

One organization got disbanded as a result. Rumor says that they were trying to get the rumored 'Gold Pass'. Even though no-one had ever seen it but nearly every higher-up in every country knew about it. That's because Naruto never used it.

The reason the higher-ups knew is that they were the ones that issued it. It was merely an identification to denote he's the Daimyo's special guest so the guard knows what to do with him. Therefore stealing would be meaningless as the nobles all recognize the holder. Hence, in order to discourage any strange rumors, the organization was arrested.

This leads to people mistakenly think they were destroyed because of the pass. In reality, they were only locked up for their crimes. The 'Gold Pass' was only a stepping stone leading to their arrest. Since then, rumors fly and the mystery 'Gold Pass' got turn into another legend.

Some say it was in the hands of some inspector. They somehow even link it to the Sannin's travel pass. Thus given some the wrong impression that 'Gold Pass' holder is someone stronger than the Sannin.

Anyway, since they can't rely on their ninjas. Some took extreme measures to destroy it themselves. They posed themselves as visitors and tries to burn the paintings. After lighting up the fire bottle bomb, they toss it on the painting.

"BURN, KYUBI TRASH!"

While securities are in place, they couldn't exactly watch every single visitor and every single painting. In that space, everyone can only watch with horror as the bottle hit and smash into the painting and start burning. However, before the fanatic arsonist can celebrate he saw something. He realized that the 'Kyubi abomination' is not being damaged. Apparently, there's an extra layer of protection over the painting. All his firebomb did was burning a thin layer of protective glass, the fire never did reach its intended target. Before he knew it, he was tackled by at least 4 security guards.

High above the gallery, Dojima watched the proceedings below.

"Another one?" it was more of a statement.

"Looks like we will have to think of additional measures. Something outside the box perhaps?"

He and the Fire Lord had been anticipating this thus took security measures.

This is especially true for Dojima as he went the extra mile because he had seen how persistent they were. He wasn't shy about expenses with extra staff and protection. He had no doubt those Konoha prisoners will be troubled and they will bring whole Konoha with them if they can. Thus not only did he kept tabs on them, but he also took extra security countermeasures. The paintings aren't only protected by extra layers of invisible glass they were double protected with additional seals. Even the guards were retired Anbu level shinobis and none of them came from Konoha.

As for the arsonist, unlike inside Konoha he couldn't get away scot free. Not only was he charged, he's shipped off to the shinobi prison with 20 years sentence. Simultaneously, the civilian council too were also fined as an example. When they want to argue against that, the Fire Lord state that had it been a Konoha shinobi it will be the ninja council receiving the fine.

Clearly, the Daimyo is making sure they are taking their responsibility seriously. He wouldn't let them to try to shift or pass over the blame. Just as the Hokage being responsible for her ninjas, they on the council will be held responsible for the civilians. Once more, the Daimyo added that should any of them succeeded in destroying one of those priceless art, the village will be paying for it. He also drops hints that the market price for the cheapest artwork is at least 7 million Ryo. So he urges them to take their responsibility seriously.

Unfortunately, even after years, 'Konohagakure' is still the center of debate with Konoha (ninja village). This was mostly due to the persistence of the civilian council as they made countless efforts to lay claims simply because its in the image of their home. In short, they want ownership rights. Even if they can't legally get it, they want at least some percentage. They think the demon spawn is stealing off them, so they should have every right to claim compensation.

It's of their village, so if someone is making money off it then it should only make sense they too to get a piece of the profit. It was a petition signed by the entire civilian side of the council thus even the Hokage couldn't stop them. Anyway, in their own greed, they didn't involve the Hokage nor the ninja side of the council. This means if they somehow won the argument, they will be the ones to reap everything. Yet, the way they speak, they say they are doing it for the whole village.

Thankfully, the Fire Lord had anticipated this, so he had an expert negotiator in place.

"It's an image of Konohaga, so naturally it belongs to the village, to the people."

They would use words for the people, fairness, and twisted commonsense to establish their grounds. Unfortunately for them, their efforts are wasted as the negotiator was prepared. "The village is a public sector, no-one can hold a claim to it. If someone does painting on the Daimyo's Palace, the Fire Daimyo can't force the painter to give up ownership."

"The same can be said on your Hokage mountain. It has the faces of the Hokages, does that mean it belongs to the Hokages?"

Despite common sense, these people continued their persistence.

"It's a security risk, we can't risk our enemies use it against us."

"Konoha is a ninja village, other villages can use it to exploit our weakness."

They even use a potential security issue as an excuse to have the painting removed. However, the negotiator didn't back down.

"You are a ninja village, are you telling me that you can't use that to your advantage?"

"Besides, your so-called security risk is issue no different to the pamphlets you gave to your visitors."

"I should also let you know that every self-respected ninja village has already its own surveillance photographs of Konoha."

"..."

By now the negotiator had enough understanding of these people. They are so ignorant of their ninja system, all they are doing are successfully making fools of themselves. Just by revealing a little, these idiots will no doubt run back to their Hokage to clarify that pamphlets claims and maybe to try abolishing it.

Even so, the negotiator knew they will return. This was foreseen by the Fire Lord as he had seen how unreasonable these people are when it comes to Naruto. Since the prison closure announcement, he had secretly started an investigation into the village. Thus, over the years, he had accumulated enough information on how they operate and who he will be dealing with.

Unlike the position of a Hokage, a Daimyo's position is inherited by birth. Therefore, they were prepared since young over many civilian matters. Against ninjas, he may not be qualified but civilians on the other hand, he's more than enough to handle them. If not, there's always his 'Fire Court' as they help him administrate and anticipate everything. They consists of elites of every division essential to the country's economy. It's a position some of the civilians try to get into countless times but couldn't.

Anyway, regardless what these people say, from the way he see it, 'Konohagakure' doesn't belong to anybody so its open to the public. If anyone has a right, it would be the creator himself. Hence, the civilian council can complain all they want, the 'Fire Court's' finest will be ready for them.

Sai

Of all those sent from Konoha, only Sai managed to get close to Naruto. Ironically, it wasn't intentional. For years, Tsunade and Jiraiya had tried numbers of times and opportunities to mend their ties. Naruto was so fixated on his stance, he rejected all their proposals. Like he told Jiraiya the first time, he doesn't want anything to do with Konoha.

As for Sai this was all started after Danzo was killed. Without their leader, 'ROOT' was officially disbanded. However, unlike his other comrades that are Anbus, Sai is a Genin on the official record. Since he has no more secret agendas he's left with a lot of free time. Thus, when Naruto's art reached his ears it perked his interest.

One day, his curiosity got better of him thus he took it upon himself to see him. Naturally, he did it in his creepy and professional way.

"What you doing here?"

That's how our hero found him in his own private gallery, sketching on his notepad.

"I am sketching." he responded like it's an obvious thing.

"I can see that, how did you even get in?"

"Through the window."

The only reason Naruto didn't blow up is the stranger answering all his question. Nevertheless, the stranger's nonchalant and emotionless attitude is irking him.

Sighing in defeat, he felt he's overreacting over nothing.

"Anyway, why are you here?"

"No reason, I just want to see you in person."

"You're weird."

"Thanks."

"That's not a compliment!"

"What are you and who are you anyway?" asks the curious Naruto.

"I am Sai, a ninja."

Despite their rocky start, Naruto seem to tolerate him. That's when he took notice in his ink painting.

"You're good."

Seeing what he's looking at, Sai responded.

"Nothing compares to you."

"Don't sell yourself short, I can see that you have been painting this way for a long time."

"From an ink art point of view, you are better and more experienced than me."

then he added.

"And that's a compliment."

Still expressionless as he has been, Sai responded. "Thanks."

By now Naruto's fascinated, he noticed that he new guest's emotion hasn't changed the entire time. Still, he didn't pry.

That's how Sai first met Naruto thus establishing a connection. Of course, this was never known to anyone in Konoha, including the Hokage and Jiraiya. That was until Sai learning about the argument between Tsunade and Jiraiya.

"Come on Hime, we still got to try."

"What can we do, he's rejected every offer we proposed. Besides according to the Fire Lord, Sasori and Deidara will be accompanying him."

They are talking about Naruto coming trip on touring the elemental nation. Unfortunately, due to his personal insistence, he did not want anyone following him especially those from Konoha. That's because despite the 4th's declaration, there are still ninjas that wouldn't recognize him as the legitimate Namikaze heir and the Daimyo knew this. Therefore, over the matter concerning Naruto, Konoha is hardly trustworthy.

"I think Naruto-dono wouldn't mind if I tag along!"

"WHAT?!" "..."

Sai remain expressionless as the two powerful ninjas turn their attention to him.

"How and when did you know him?"

They were seriously surprised by his admission as he's the only ninja out of the whole village that earned Naruto's approval. After hearing his story, they were shocked by his past detours and eventual friendship with the Namikaze heir. He's maybe an ex-Root agent but he's the only one that in the village of thousands that managed to established a connection with him. So Sai's given the long term mission to protect him. Tsunade and Jiraiya couldn't help but sweat-dropped, of all ninjas Naruto could have befriended this emotionless ex-Root agent is the only one he could accept.

Little did they knew at the time, Sai would become somewhat an apprentice to him. He's 'somewhat' an apprentice is because he wouldn't give up his shinobi life. Despite that, he has shown a lot of improvement in his drawings in both shinobi and art way. In an art community, they love it for obvious reasons but as ninjutsus go his drawings are more powerful. For example, the tigers he summoned via ink are more intimidating, it could scare enemies with just its appearance.

There were theories claiming his improvements is because of his heart because that's where true art came from. Of course, there were also many rejecting that theory. Especially those two councilors supporting Danzo, because admitting its true would mean they were wrong in the past. Unfortunately for them, their advice was seldomly taken.

Whether it's true or not, it did not matter because to Sai, Naruto is a friend. Which is odd as it's something he's not familiar with. Anyway, in his own weird way, he built his friendship with him with his persistence. Even Naruto had to give up in correcting him from labeling everything as a mission.

Nevertheless, as he continues to travel with Naruto, nobles and Daimyos came to recognize him and his ink art. They were thoroughly impressed, although he insists he's only a bodyguard the others still want his drawings. In the end, he too was roped into painting his own piece. Along with Naruto's supervision, he too made and sold his own creation.

Since then, Sai became known as his part-time apprentice. He couldn't be his full apprentice because he's brainwashed to be loyal and faithful to his village thus he could never give up on his true profession. However, he didn't dislike people appreciating his drawings. It's just a shame as 'art' is now more profitable than missions.

Thanks to Naruto, there's now a new trend and demand for 'art'. While village missions are ongoing, they pale in comparison to how much these artists would bring to their village. The Kazekage's youngest son was a fine example as he brought prestige and new businesses to their home. It was for this reason that ninja villages are now actively searching for talents.

Unfortunately, like many ninja villages, shinobis aren't trained on such notion. Ino Yamanaka came close but flower arrangement isn't exactly on high demand. Ironically, the only one with 'art' potential is the ex-ROOT agent Sai and he's with Naruto. Sadly, Danzo trained him just a little too well as he had no intention of dropping his shinobi career to be a full-time artist.

Kurama

So, what about the Kyubi. Well, the fox never did bother him. It wasn't until late in his older age did he get to meet him. As a matter of fact, he was pulled into his own mindscape without himself knowing about it. He thought it was all a dream.

"Where the hell am I?" he askes as if he'd expected an answer.

Seeing he's nowhere he recognizes he thought he's dreaming.

"I have got to stop eating that many Ramen before sleeping."

(As if eating Ramen would lead to this.)

Surprisingly, unlike the original he isn't in a sewer. It's more plain as he navigates through the long concrete corridors.

"If this is that Orochimaru again, I will be really pissed."

Somehow ,only that weird snake Sannin came to mind as he remembers his last kidnapping.

Only low life bandit would kidnap him as ninja villages would face fines if the Daimyos knew they were involved. Hence, only low time thieves and bandits and small organizations would dared to touch him. However, none of them could get pass his protective details. That's right, Naruto now has a lot of personal guards in forms of maids and butlers, and they were usually retired ninjas or special bloodlined users. They joined him through his travels thus were eventually offered a job and a home to stay.

Aside from his bodyguards, he also have an indirect underground connection through his godfather Ryoma. He may not have direct influence but Ryoma took the extra steps to ensure no-one from the underground world would try anything against his godson. It wasn't just his godfather as his fellow inmates too kept an eye out on any activities. Therefore only fools and idiots would try anything and they are usually caught before they got anywhere near him.

Coming back to the Kyubi, the reason he never had any problem with it is that he never used its Chakra. Since he was never trained as a ninja, he didn't provoke it by taking its Chakra. As a result, the fox ended up slumbering the whole time. However, no matter how good the sleep was, you will wake up eventually. Considering the seal was never built for it to sleep forever, therefore it's inevitable it would wake up. That's what concerns Jiraiya, but to his surprise, Naruto never once had a problem.

That's because unknown to him, Naruto managed to unknowingly suppress it with his paintings. In the past, Mito told Kushina to surround herself with happiness so she can counter Kyubi's hate. Although this information was not passed down to the 3rd generation Kyubi Jinchuriki, Naruto somehow realized it in an odd way. It was through painting that he found peace thus in effect changed his mindscape. As a result, the fox's slumber was more peaceful and comfortable.

Still as being said, no matter how good the bed is, you will eventually have to wake-up. It was around his mid-30s that Kyubi reached out to him by dragging him into his mindscape. The reason it didn't do it earlier was aside from its sleep, the fox was too overwhelmed by the sudden appearances of those strange paintings. Yes, it's his mind so it would make sense his paintings would be there too.

Hence, when the fox woke up, it was surprising to see thousands and thousands of paintings in his mindscape. Instead of a cage, it found itself in a huge gallery. Had Yondaime been there, he would probably be confused too. But the Kyubi is nevertheless sealed.

So due to its strange surroundings, the fox is sentiment enough to take time to process what happened. It may be sealed but there are ways to find out what happened on the outside. The Biju's inner connection is one where they can communicate with their siblings. However, due to his pride the fox didn't.

Besides, it has already meant to see what's happening through its container's memories. Hence, why to its initial shock it was now sealed inside a civilian?! It explained why it hadn't detected any usage of its Chakra because that would definitely wake it up. As the fox continues to go through its host's memories, it soon understand about the portraits but it's still way too many.

From as far as it can see, it's endless and it had to sweatdrop because of this. There could be literally thousands.

'Just how long has it been?'

Still, this probably explains the massive space. Even this is a bit weird, as the past two generations it was living in a cage.

Nevertheless, the fox continued with the memories, focusing only on the key elements. It watches how its host was mistreated from the beginning, it's nothing new. Humans are like that, they are mostly cowards, trash, and a mistake in god's creation. The extreme length they went to send a child to prison was something that's not morally accepted. Yet, the notion was approved by the majority of the ninja village. Considering whose child it is, it's something not comprehensible. Anyway, that at least explain how the kid wasn't a ninja, let alone a Konoha ninja.

The fox could only shake its head as it watches its host's life unfold inside the prison. It was uneventful, aside from the mishaps with the Konoha group his life was norm as civilians can be. Kyubi did notice him taking up hobbies but they aren't as interesting as finding out what happened to the outside world. Think of memories as some kind of video playback, the fox just fast forward to the key events. While Naruto may not be directly involved, but Kyubi can pick up bits and pieces from the Daimyo's conversation to see what had transpired.

That's how it found out about the ninja war involving its siblings. Funny enough, it slept through the whole thing. The fox was genuinely surprised on how its Jinchuriki managed to elude being captured. How did the enemies not known? Even the appearance of the 'Rinnegan' was a huge shock and Kyubi suspected somehow Madara too was involved. It knew the moment a masked Uchiha came and made it attack Konoha, it smelled too much like one of his schemes.

Kyubi didn't know what to think, everything had gone to pass without even its intervention. It had expected it to be some grand plan for it to get involved, like a massive fight or something. Somehow, all its siblings took part in the war but not Kyubi, thus it had mixed feelings. Mixed feelings because due to its pride and personal issues with humans, it wouldn't fight with them. Then there's also its relationship against Madara, the fox wants its revenge.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your view, it's all over. Sighing to itself, Kyubi didn't know what to think. Now that it thought about it, it should feel rightfully annoyed and frustrated but to its surprise there was nothing. Under normal circumstances, it should have lost its temper. This leads it to think that its primal urges were somehow being suppressed.

Just when it starts to ponder about that, it wonders if there were special seals in place. But there were none, all there are those paintings.

'Paintings?!'

Then one particular painting caught its eyes.

'A Waterfall?!'

It wasn't art perked its curiosity but the odd phenomenon it's sensing. The picture is eluding peace and harmony? To the fox, the painting seems to have some kind of extraordinary power. Something even it can't understand, from its point of view it's like looking into a piece of mini-mother-nature. That's when it took notice on other existing paintings.

'How did I missed all this?'

Truth is, it did see them but were ignored until now. With nothing better to do, the fox starts to explore the paintings. Despite its fascination and curiosity, Kyubi still couldn't figure out why it's attracted to them.

'Why would I care for some human picture?' it had to ask itself.

Aside from the art, there's also a strange power that calms it. Like the 'Waterfall' painting, it was so refreshing that it thought it can bask in the painting.

While some are meaningless to a Biju but some that are simply 'out-of-this-world'. This is especially true when it comes to the holy portraits. Even the great Kyubi felt its divinity powers, which is both foreign and incomprehensible. As far as divinities go, the 'Rikudo Sennin' is more of a god. Despite that, the fox had to admit that the holy portraits are no less divined. Perhaps a different kind of divinity?

Incidentally, the holy portrait is located in a church. A building that even a Biju such as it can fit in. Kyubi assumed it's the trick of the mind, just as its cage being the museum. Nevertheless, this is something it had never experienced before. What was once a corridor full of art, it is now buildings, locations and even countries?

As being said, the holy paintings were located in a church. The 'Sky Waterfall' is on a cliff overlooking to a small town. It was fascinating and it's hard to get bored because of this. On top of that, it's also difficult to distinguish which is better, the painting or the view. Kyubi assumed that the view is some kind of scenery manifestation from his host's mind based on the said painting.

Skipping the details, the fox spent years going through them. With nothing better to do, it took its time. That means taking a nap when it feels like it. Base on his art style and personality, there's no short of relaxing and peaceful spots among his paintings. Hence, to Kyubi its host's mindscape is like the perfect vacation spot. Sometimes, it even revisits the same scene more often than it realizes.

Before Mito died, she had told her successor Kushina to surround herself with love. Only then can she fight the amount of hate the fox has. Mito was unsuccessful thus she pass over the baton to her successor. The task was eventually passed down to her son Naruto but sadly she passed away without passing down that same advice.

However, little did they know Naruto had somehow managed to fulfill that task without himself knowing. It was simply through his painting that the mission was successful. Unknown to him, every time he paints a portrait, the very thing he created would appear inside his mindscape. From another point of view it made sense.

In order to put something on paper, he must first have it on his mind. Hence, as he continue down that career, the inside his mind too change. Although still sleeping, Kurama too was affected. So by the time it's awake, the cage he was sealed in became what Naruto modeled his paintings to be.

His artwork near the beginning were kept in a museum thus they appear in a museum in his mind. As his art and style progress, his view changed thus his mind was remodeled to accompany them. It was for this reason that Kyubi's seeing such confusing scenes. Just by going from one painting to another is like jumping from one world to another.

Thus, by the time Naruto's in his middle 30s he's taken to his deep consciousness where he gets to meet not just Kurama but the other Bijus.

"What's this Kurama? What's with the sudden meeting?"

"I thought I should bring you all here for this because I think he's what the old man said we all had been waiting for!"

The other Bijus too look at him with interest. Kurama rarely give out such praises but even they can see the middle-aged Uzumaki is very different to other Jinchurikis.

"He doesn't look like a ninja?!"

"I know."

"?!"

By then even Naruto is mad.

"Will you quit talking like I am not here."

"Why the hell am I here? I am not even a ninja!"

Even the Bijus are speechless. What was their brother (Kurama) thinking?

Goku, one of the Bijus curiously asks.

"THEN WHAT ARE YOU?"

"I am an artist."

Now they are even more confused as they turn to Kurama for answers. The fox had its hands (paws?!) in its face.

'Leaving it to him to make the matter complicated.'

While the Bijus are speechless, the Jinchurikis accompanying the Bijus were equally stunned. They were seriously surprised by the fact there's a Jinchuriki that is actually a civilian. Well, all of them except Gaara as he knew Naruto personally, so he let them talk among themselves. None of them can understand which village is stupid enough to do that. That's no different from having a mansion and choosing to live in a dog house. Had someone told them he's from Konoha the greatest ninja village, they wouldn't believe it.

"WILL YOU ALL SHUT THE HELL UP SO I CAN EXPLAIN."

It's difficult to do that when everyone's talking at once. The Bijus demanded an explanation, whereas the Jinchurikis want clarification. Then there's Naruto that want his share on why he's here even when he's not a ninja. Thankfully, Kyubi managed to wrestle the chaos from its siblings so he can start. The first thing he did is to get its host up to speed, so it tells him about the story of 'Rikudo Sennin' and how the Bijus came to be.

Thankfully, the other Bijus cooperated and introduce themselves. Despite their different backgrounds, they were surprised how easy they could mingle with a civilian. Gaara's obvious since he knew him in the real world. Killer Bee too found himself enjoying the conversation and praises to his rap-art? It's something completely new to Naruto, it's no wonder how he can tolerate them. Yugito too joins the conversation since she knew Killer Bee.

On the other hand, like the manga Naruto thought Yagura was a child thus started another debate conversation. The other Jinchurikis found the odd civilian Jinchuriki refreshing as they watched the exchange. While that's going on, Gaara tells the others what he knew of his friend. They had met on the outside therefore he knew more or less of Naruto's circumstances. In the end, he quoted that winning the 4th ninja war was mostly due to him thwarting Akatsuki's plans by unknowingly converting the enemies to the other side. They had seen the abnormalities during the war so they too can see how much of an impact it did.

In the meantime, while the Bijus too were listening they on the other hand have their own conversation with their fox sibling.

"SERIOUSLY?! PAINTINGS?!"

Clearly they were flabbergasted. Had it been seals, they can somehow understand but paintings?! Even if it's coming from their so-called strongest sibling, it's something not easy to swallow.

"I AM TELLING YOU, YOU HAVE TO SEE IT TO UNDERSTAND."

"ARE YOU ALRIGHT IN YOUR HEAD, YOU STUPID FOX."

"NOT ONLY DID YOU SLEPT THROUGH THE FIGHT (WAR), YOU'RE NOW TALKING NONSENSE!"

In the midst of all this and without anyone knowing Naruto starts to do his thing. The other only aware of it when Kokuo (five tail) brought it up.

"WHEN DID YOU START PAINTING?!"

"I started when I get inspiration."

"WHICH IS WHEN?!"

"Somewhen when you guys talk among yourselves."

"!"

"WHERE DID YOU EVEN GET YOUR TOOLS?!"

"Don't know, it appears when I want to paint. Cool, eh?"

"..."

Everyone was baffled, it should be impossible because this is a special connection between the Bijus. Therefore, you can't just bring anything here, or can you? Some of the Jinchurikis tries to do by mentally manifesting something. Killer Bee wanted a Mic and music for his rap, Yugito want sushi but of course, nothing came out. There were those that wanted to ask Naruto but even he couldn't explain it.

"HEY, WE ARE STRAYING OFF-TOPIC!" Kurama loudly suggests.

The fox's right, they were inquiring about his painting which is what Kyubi wanted to show them.

"ANYWAY, WHAT WERE YOU PAINTING?"

Flipping the portrait over, he shows them what he did. As he did that, the whole 'mindscape' changed to reflect on what he painted.

It was the key moment the Bijus had with their father figure. Naruto painted them in their cute baby form along with the aged 'Rikudo Sannin'. While their father figure isn't painted to accuracy but can be forgiven given that he hadn't met him. Nevertheless, he still managed to capture his core essence as sage perfectly. Meanwhile, while everyone's busy gawking, the blond already finished another thus changing or expanding the mindscape further.

The effect is like 'Konohagakure' as the Bijus can feel the love of their father figure and his presence. Whether its an illusion or fake none of them cared, as it's nice to see the sage again. Normally, Naruto wouldn't care but the Jinchurikis and Bijus' stories moved him thus he chose to give them something they wanted. What's more amazing is that he's able to bring his gallery into that central connection. Hence, through Kyubi and him, the others too were able to see his creation.

It was through this that the elemental nation suddenly felt the loss of the Bijus. For some reason, ninjas could no longer sense them. At first, they thought it was the revival of the Akatsuki but since the ninja villages couldn't find any evidence of their resurrection, something must have happened. After consulting with Gaara and Killer Bee, it was confirmed that they had left. Sadly, all they got was the Bijus leaving on some dimensional portal where they wouldn't be disturbed by humans.

Which is kinda true in a sense. Gaara and Killer-Bee doesn't know where their physical bodies are. Their conscious however are as they say are in another dimension. Since meeting with Naruto, the Bijus choose to relocate themselves to that connection that connects them. However, before they do that they hid their real bodies where humans couldn't find them.

Goku for example, seclude itself in some remote mountain that's impossible to reach even by ninjas. Isobu too relocated to some lake where it never resurfaced. On top of that, the reason that the ninjas couldn't sense them is that they turn their bodies to stone. So over time, their bodies became part of the environment. Unless you disturb them by trying to break their stone body they probably remain like that for eternity.

It is as Kyubi puts it, his paintings are special. Especially inside the mindscape or this connection space, they are in. For some reason, they have the ability to house all of them. Since they are gigantic Bijus, normal establishments could not accommodate them. However, through his paintings, they can resize to adapt their needs.

Every painting is like a different reality, the Bijus were fascinated as some they didn't know even existed. Thanks to Naruto, they can also have a place of their own through his art. Kyubi can have a fox den, Isobu liked lakes and Naruto can paint it with a waterfall. So every Biju gets their own den, this includes Ichibi and Hachibi. The two had to remain in the outside world because of their Jinchurikis, they certainly don't want their host to die and their physical body is taken without them knowing.

On the other hand, they can always visit from time to time. It was for this reason that the Bijus are living in peace and harmony. They couldn't be bored, especially when there are endless paintings or realities to explore. Then there're always new creations. Every time Naruto creates a new piece, they will appear into that connected world they are in.

Even upon his death, these paintings wouldn't disappear. Because like true art, they will remain through that connected space. As long as one of the Bijus are alive, that world will exist for eternity. The same can be said for his physical paintings as they too were carefully preserved. That's because, for hundreds or even thousands of years, no artist had ever come close to his level. Hence, why they were revered by the nation.

Author's Note:

That's another story completed. I hope you like the epilogue. Some of you might want to know about the other Genins but since they didn't play much of a role in this story I didn't bother mentioning them. It would be a tall order if I have to explain every character in detail. That's because in order to talk about them, we will have to revisit all the timelines and what they did etc. Unfortunately it's also a huge hassle when scenes not matching.
