Chapter one

Halliwell Manor

Phoebe's room

"Evil…" Phoebe muttered, as she stared at a photo of Cole. She still had some photos of him, of them together. It was hard to throw them away.

Because she still loved him.

It wasn't a secret.

We're not meant to be.

"Phoebe…" she heard Piper's voice behind the door's room.

She quickly threw the photos in a box under her bed. "Hi," she said, opening the door.

"Miles on the phone," Piper said and Phoebe sighed.

At least she was trying to forget Cole.

For good.

It was the hardest decision she took in her entire life, but it was something she had to do. Evil would always be after Cole and she wasn't strong enough to help him.

"He wants to talk to you," Piper added, as she noticed her sister looking at nowhere.

"Sorry," Phoebe said softly. "I'll go, just give me one minute."

She closed the door behind her and started to walk to the living room. Miles was human, he was safe. He would never hurt her because of magic.

"Hi," Phoebe took the phone.

She cared about him. He seemed to be a good man. Oh, if she could fall in love with him…

"Phoebe, are you listening to me?" he asked.

"I'm sorry," she apologized. "I have a headache. Can we talk later?"

"Ok," he said, a little frustrated.

The witch sighed and placed the phone back in its place.

Damn Cole…

"Phoebe!" Piper screamed her name.

The middle witch ran as fast she could toward her sister. "Piper," she muttered under her breath, as she saw her sister lying on the ground.

"Hello, little witch," a creepy voice said behind her.

Phoebe felt her heart stopping for a moment. Then she finally turned her head to face the creature. She had red eyes and a scar on her face. Her white hair flowed down her back. "Who the hell are you?" she asked terrified.

The woman raised her head. "Alana," she said, as grey wings emerged from her shoulder.

"What'd you do to my sister?" Phoebe asked in concern.

"She's only sleeping, my dear. Don't worry about her," she said caressing Phoebe's face.

The Charmed One took a step back, but Alana held her hand tightly. "I can smell…"

Phoebe cleared her throat. "What…"

"Love, pain, betrayal…" the woman smiled.

Cole's penthouse

Cole was sitting on his couch, looking at the ceiling.

It's who you are.

He closed his eyes and buried his face in his hands. He didn't know what to do anymore. He couldn't forget the look in Phoebe's eyes after he took his powers back from Barbas.

She was afraid of him.

That was what hurt him the most. Phoebe would never trust him again. "Phoebe…" he murmured her name, as tears fell down his eyes.

"Cole…" Paige suddenly orbed in.

"Paige," Cole looked up at her.

"Are you crying?" she asked in concern, as she saw the tears in his eyes.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, wiping the tears from his face.

"I was worried about you," she said. "I really tried to help you, but…"

"It's okay," he said, shaking his head. "I… I think it wasn't meant to be…"

Paige breathed. Cole was talking about his relationship with Phoebe. "Cole…"

"I tried so hard," he said, fighting the tears back. "But it wasn't enough, she'll never trust me again… She's afraid of me… You know, there's no reason left to live."

"What are you talking about?" Paige winced.

"You're a Charmed One, you can help me, really help me," Cole said, his voice almost a whisper. "You can find a way to vanquish me…"

"What? No! I won't kill you," she said.

"You don't understand," he said. "I don't wanna to be evil…"

"You don't need to be," Paige said softly.

"You're wrong, it's not my choice," he said. "Phoebe's right. Evil is inside of me. It's who I am… no amount of good deeds will ever change that."

Paige lowered her head. "Did Phoebe say it to you?"

Cole nodded. "I thought she was wrong… But she's right. That's why you should vanquish me…"

"Phoebe's wrong and I am really sorry she said such a thing to you," Paige said and let out a breath. "She's afraid, that's all…"

"Afraid of me…"

"No, she's afraid of turning evil again," Paige explained. "She didn't want to hurt us and I am pretty sure that she didn't want to hurt you…"

"She wants me dead," Cole said, full of pain in his voice.

"She wants to forget the past, Cole. It was hard for her to vanquish you… She loves you, but…"

"It's over… She will never come back to me," Cole closed her eyes.

Paige nodded. "I know it's hard, but you need to accept it and move on with your life… Cole, you have great powers, you don't need to use them to hurt people, you can use them to help people…"

"Do you really believe that?" Cole asked.

"You already did it before as Belthazor. I confess that I was afraid of you taking your powers back from Barbas," she said. "Things are quickly getting out of control and I'm really worried about you. Look, if you want, really want, we can try the power stripping potion again… There's no Barbas this time to steal your powers."

"And your sisters, Paige? They won't agree with it." Cole remarked.

Paige lowered her head. Cole was right. "We could talk to them and do right thing this time…"

Cole cleared his throat. "I don't think Phoebe is interested in help me…"

Paige rested her hand over his. "Give her a chance… C'mon, let's go to the manor."

Cole nodded and they disappeared in a swarm of blue and white orbs.

Halliwell Manor

Phoebe looked at Alana terrified, trying to free herself from her grip. "Let me go!"

Alana let out a nasty smile and suddenly a white smoke left her mouth and drifted towards Phoebe's body, circling it.

Phoebe gasped for air, as she fell on her knees. She pinched her eyes closed, as memories from the past flooded over her. Cole as the Source, the Seer, The damn tonic…

"You have love in your heart," Alana said. "I can see what you see, I can see him… His beautiful blue eyes. You love him, but he betrayed you. He almost destroyed your soul…"

"Stop…" Phoebe pleaded, covering her face in her hands.

"No… It won't stop until you kill him!" Alana said, a smile on her face. "His death will free you from the pain. He'll never ever betray you again…"

Suddenly, Cole and Paige orbed in. They quickly looked around them and saw Piper on the ground and Phoebe in front of Alana.

"Phoebe!" Cole yelled and waved his hand, trying to send Alana away. "What the hell," he said, looking at his hands.

It didn't work.

Alana turned her back. "Look who's here… The traitor…"

"Who the hell are you?" Paige asked.

"Alana, your worst nightmare," she flicked her hand and Phoebe fell to the ground.

"Phoebe…" Paige muttered. "What've you done to her?"

Alana started to laugh. "I'm only teaching her that love only causes pain, love need to be destroyed."

"Shut up!" Cole tried to form a fireball, but it failed as well. He looked at Paige completely dumbfounded. "My powers aren't working, she's blocking me!"

"Alana," suddenly a woman flamed in. "What are you doing here?"

Alana raised her head. "Circe…"

"In the flash… I'm here to warn you, they're witches and therefore my protégées…" Circe said.

Alana laughed. "You can't protect them," she scoffed.

Circe's face hardened, as she formed an energy ball in her hand. "Get out of here! I don't want to hurt you!"

Alana bit her lips. "Okay," she looked at Cole. "Hum… Interesting… You really love her," she said and shimmered out.

Cole knelt before Phoebe, as Paige walked to Piper, who was slightly opening her eyes. "Who are you?" he asked.

"Well, you heard what Alana said. My name is Circe," she said. "Don't worry, I'm not the enemy…"

Phoebe opened her eyes and looked up at Cole, who held her in his arms. "Cole…"

"Phoebe," he let out a slight smile. "Are you okay?"

She cleared her throat. His death will free you from the pain. He'll never ever betray you again. "What are you doing here?" she asked, getting up off the floor

Cole lowered his head. "Phoebe…"

"You helped us," Paige said to Circe.

Circe nodded. "Alana is very dangerous," she warned them.

"I couldn't use my powers against her," Cole said.

"Neither do I," Piper said, still in the ground. "I tried to blow her up, but nothing happened," she said, rubbing the back of her neck.

"But you use your powers," Paige said to Circe.

Circe smiled. She had deep green eyes and wore a green hat over her long, curled red hair. Her emerald green dress fell to the floor. "She is very powerful, but she can't block me…"

"Why?" Cole asked in curiosity.

"Because I am Circe," she said, playing with her fingers. "The first enchantress."

"The first enchantress," Phoebe repeated. "You're a witch…"

Circe nodded. "The most powerful witch to ever walk the Earth. I'm pretty sure I'm in your magical book," she said, pointing to the Book of Shadows. "But… I think you should learn more about Alana… She's the only one you have to stop."
