ESCAPEE

"You know, I'd ask you what you were doing but..." Catherine watched with amusement from the doorway of Grissom's office as he crawled on
all fours inside the room.

Grissom stopped crawling for a second to look up at his visitor, "I'd have to kill you if I told you." He said sarcastically before going
back to crawling around on the floor.

"So really, what *are* you doing?"

"I don't think you wanna know."

"Try me."

Grissom stopped again and looked at Catherine as if deciding whether or not she was worthy of what he was about to tell her. At her
impatient sigh, he got up, clapping his hands together to get the dust off his palms, "It's Lindsey."

"What?"

"My new tarantula." Grissom quickly explained at Catherine's bewildered look, "I promised Lindsey I would name my next one after
her."

Rolling her eyes, Catherine shook her head exasperatedly, "You named a tarantula after my daughter?"

Grissom shrugged with a sheepish grin, "Every child needs a crazy uncle." Catherine laughed but Grissom quickly became serious
again, "Now that you've been acquainted with the situation at hand, we have to find her."

Catherine's eyes widened when she realized what Grissom was doing on all fours before, "She escaped? How could let her escape? Wasn't she
in a cage? How did she get out?"

Grissom waited patiently until Catherine got all her questions out. When she finally stopped talking, he explained calmly, "She was in
her cage and then...she wasn't."

"What?!"

"Don't worry, she has to be around here somewhere."

"Ok...this is not funny." Catherine's eyes darted around trying to spot the tarantula. Slowly, she made her way to the couch and got up
on it.

"What are you doing?" Grissom looked at her oddly.

"I'm staying right here until you find that thing."

"Her name's Lindsey."

"Whatever. Just find her."

Grissom chuckled, shaking his head at Catherine's fear. He began looking around when finally he spotted the tarantula on the corner of
his desk, near the cage it had escaped from earlier, "There you are!"

"Hurry up and get it!" Catherine hissed, still standing on the couch.

"Alright...there you go." Grissom grinned and watched his new pet, which was back in its cage by now. After placing the cage back on
the shelf, he turned to Catherine, "Are *you* ready to come back down?"

"They're dangerous." Catherine waved her hand exaggeratedly in the direction of his shelf of exotic creatures. "How could just let one
of them escape? What if it had left your office?" Her eyes widened as the possible scenario ran through her head.

Grissom laughed and extended his hand out to her, "Catherine, Lindsey's harmless. Now come back down, she's back in her cage."

"Are you sure? Cuz she escaped once..." Catherine sounded unsure but still she placed her hand in his.

"Catherine, why are you so afraid of spiders?" Grissom asked as he helped her step down from the couch.

"Gil, why are you so afraid of talking?" Catherine shot back with a smirk.

Grissom nodded with a defeated smile, "Right. Truce?"

"Always." Catherine winked at him and quickly exited the office before another one of his pets could escape again.
