MOVIES

"Silent movies, huh?"

Grissom stopped and turned to look at his movie partner for the night.  Looking at Catherine for a moment while considering her question, he nodded with a little smile, "Yeah."

"Why's that?" She followed him as he continued walking out of the arthouse theatre.

He shrugged, unlocking the car doors with his remote key, "There are no sounds to distract the audience from the point of the movie.  Watching a silent movie means you can concentrate solely on the message being conveyed without being distracted by special effects or cheesy music."

"That's it?"

Opening the door for her, he gave her a curious look, "Should there be more?"

"I don't know. You tell me."  She stood in front of him, showing no intention of entering the car.

"See, this is exactly why I enjoy silent movies."  He paused, "No dialogue involved."

"Gee, Grissom, what a nice way to tell me to shut up." She hopped into the car and watched as he closed the door for her and walked all the way around to the driver's side with a smirk on his face.

The silence continued until they reached the third traffic light at which after stopping the car, Grissom glanced over at Catherine, "Catherine?"

She tilted her head to look at him, "Hmm?"

"We should do this more often."

"What? Having road trips in complete silence?"

He pursed his lips together and shook his head, focusing his eyes back on the road again as the light turned green, "No, I meant watching movies together."  When she didn't respond, he gave her another glance, "I enjoyed it."

Not wanting him to mistake her silence for disagreement, she offered him a smile, "Me too."  He smiled.  "But we get to alternate picking the movie cuz there's no way I'm letting you drag me to silent movie after silent movie without making you sit through a chick flick."

Grissom groaned, prompting laughter from the both of them.  The truth was, he didn't care what movie they watched.  He didn't even care if they watched a movie at all.  He had missed spending time with Catherine away from work.  So if it meant having to sit through chick flicks to spend time with her, he was willing to do it.  Tears, tissues, and cheesy music – he was ready for it all.
