Author's note: I don't own Severus Snape or Lucius Malfoy, although I really wish I did. The writing and slashy goodness comes from me, but the characters? They belong to the wondrous, idol-worthy JK Rowling (all rights reserved). Rated R for SLASH and being overly cute - surprising little angst, yay! R&R please!

Sweet Seventeen

"Happy birthday baby." I leaned over as I kissed his forehead. "Time to wake up."

"Mmm..." he smiles, "It's not my birthday."

"True - but we didn't exactly celebrate it, so..."

"Baby?"

I shrug. "I'm testing it out. Does it sound silly?"

"No, just... different. I like it."

"Well that's hardly the surprise gift. Get up!"

I laugh, as Severus struggles to get up, rubbing his eyes. Sometimes I forget he was only seventeen last week - he seems so innocent. I know better, of course.

"I have presents?" His eyes light up.

"A couple. Anyway, it's to make up for not getting you anything before..."

"Lu... you've given me plenty already." He gazes up at me. I can't help smiling.

"I love you." I squeeze his hand. "Come on, presents. Then cake if you like, since I promised you a party. I haven't invited anyone, but still..."

"Beloved, you really didn't have to..."

I lean in close to him, and kiss his lips softly.

"If you don't shut up, you won't get your *proper* present..."

His eyes darken very slightly, but I notice. He shakes his head, and grins.

"Evil bastard."

"Your point?"

"Presents?"

"Of course."

I pass him the three parcels. A book, some potions ingredients, and a small black pouch that jangled when Severus shook it.

"What's this?"

"I got it in London, in some muggle shop. Open it."

Severus reached in, and took out a silver chain, with an amethyst crystal hanging from it.

"It's for... peace and stability, or something." I smile ruefully. "They didn't have rose quartz."

"I love it." He leans up and kisses me, wrapping his arms round my neck. "You went shopping in.... *muggle* shops? When was that?"

"Ah..." I grin at him. "That would be telling. I think the crystal thing is superstition, but... well, I thought you might like it. You don't have to wear it or anything."

He lets me go for a moment, and looks me in the eye, then puts it on. "I'm going to anyway..."

"Happy Birthday, cariad."

He wraps his arms round me again, and pulls me down. "I love you so much."

"I love you too. So... are we forgetting the party?"

He kisses me firmly. "The party can wait. Why have cake when I have you?"

I laugh, unable to help myself. "I suppose so. Want your real present now?"

He bites his lip. "Mmm hmm."

I lean down to kiss him gently. "This could take a while..."
