Welcome Home
Weiss tapped her foot impatiently, browsing the news on her scroll as she waited for Yang to arrive. She was ten minutes late at this point and Weiss was getting fed up. She was contemplating leaving her and going off to see Naruto on her own, but there was one reason why she wouldn't. A reason that was far too compelling to ignore.
A small hand tugged on her dress. Weiss snapped from her thoughts and looked down. Blue met blue. The sparkling and ever wonderous eyes of her son were before her.
"Mother?" he asked.
"Yes, Minato?"
"When is Mama Yang going to get here? And Tai?" Minato asked. Weiss knelt down so she could be at eye level with her child. He looked so much like his father. His face was round, if just a tad more narrow thanks to her own influence. White, spiky hair adorned his head and fell into his face where two whisker like marks sat on either side of his cheeks. Really, Weiss could hardly stop herself from marveling over the child she and her husband had created and he was already four years old now.
"I'm sure Yang and your brother won't be too much longer. They're just running a bit late," Weiss replied with a smile. The people around them looked on with fond smiles. Weiss ignored them. As did Minato. The two of them were used to such attentions by now. As if being a Schnee wasn't enough attention, being married to the leader of not just a foreign nation, but a foreign nation in a different dimension would put quite the spotlight on someone. It didn't help that it was now common knowledge that her husband had been instrumental in putting an end to Salem.
"You would think Yang would be on time for things like this…" came Emerald's bored drawl from Weiss's right. She looked over to see Cinder, Emerald, and Cinder's son approaching. Minato ran over to the older boy with a smile on his face as Weiss stood to her feet and greeted his mother and her friend.
"Cinder, Emerald. I didn't know you two had plans to head to the EN today too."
"Sakura wanted to meet for tea," Cinder replied.
"Yes, I do believe Hinata mentioned something about that…"
"Besides, Emerald and I have some work to take care of that will see us away from our homes for the next week. It's best I leave Itachi with Sakura and his sister until we return," Cinder sighed. Weiss narrowed her eyes.
"What sort of disturbance are you looking into now?" Weiss asked.
"There have been some disappearances near Vacuo," Emerald replied.
"You are not planning to go alone, are you?" Weiss inquired. "Not that I think you cannot take care of yourselves…"
"We understand, Weiss. If we see a portal of some sort, we'll be calling Sasuke and Naruto right away. Besides, we're bringing Kakashi and Raven with us, just in case," Cinder said. Weiss seemed to let a breath go that she didn't realize she was holding.
"Good…"
"Hey, Weiss! Sorry I'm late!" Yang greeted as she jogged up to them. Her son, Taiyang, was held securely in her arms as she approached. The Young boy 's eyes lit up when he saw his half-brother and Itachi, and Yang soon found herself having to let the squirming child down. He had his mother's hair and eyes, though his whisker-like birthmarks were the same as Minato's.
She watched as Itachi rolled his eyes as Taiyang started to speak rapidly at the two other boys. Itachi was the spitting image of Sasuke when he was a boy, and Weiss could already foresee the two of them having a relationship similar to their fathers.
"What kept you?" Weiss inquired, a single brow raised.
"Well… you know Ruby's been stressing about her impending wedding. Though I'm not sure why. Blake adores her," Yang shrugged. Weiss rolled her eyes. Yang had been no less stressed when she'd married Naruto. Moreso, all things considered.
"Naruto adoring you didn't change how annoying you were when you were getting married. Why would your sister be any different?" Emerald commented, not really looking for an answer. Yang looked at her indignantly and opened her mouth, only to work her jaw with no sound accompanying it, and then shut it with a click. She looked away with a huff amongst giggles and chuckles from Weiss and Cinder respectively.
"A-anyway! Ruby kept asking about dresses and wouldn't let me go. Then she accidently spilled coffee on my blouse, so I had to change. Only then did she let me leave, and that was probably only because she was sorry for making me have to change," Yang explained.
"Well… sounds like her," Weiss grinned, "boys, let's go," she called. The three children quickly nodded and followed after their mothers as the group approached the large arch ahead of them. All around them, people were going in and out of the arch. They appeared and disappeared through the mirrorlike surface as it rippled like water due to their passage.
This was the fruit of the combined labor of Remnant and the Elemental Nations: the dimensional gateway. After years of work and learning to combine the technology of Remnant with the chakra of the EN, the two dimensions were finally able to make a stable passage between the worlds. Sasuke, Naruto, Kakashi, and Raven had been instrumental in this achievement. Their combined knowledge about dimensional travel pushed the research further, faster than anyone would have expected.
Each nation of Remnant had five gates, and each gate led to one of the five villages of the Elemental Nations. Similarly, the Villages in the EN had five gates as well. The fifth gate there led to the rapidly developing nation of Gehenna. Where Salem once called her territory, Gehenna now stood. The entirety of the land there had been terraformed with Naruto and Sasuke's help. The once barren wasteland now brimmed with flora and fauna, devoid of all grimm. It was now its own unique, yet inhabitable place on Remnant.
"This will never not be creepy," grumbled Emerald as she stepped up to the arch. She was a reflection of herself in the arch before taking a deep breath and stepping in. The others followed her example, even as Cinder snickered over how Emerald called anything that involved Sasuke creepy.
Sasuke stood in front of the Dimensional Gate with Sakura and Sarada. His wife and daughter were making idle chatter with Hinata, Boruto, and Himawari. Usually he would be participating but his mind was elsewhere today. It had been a month since the last disappearance case in the EN. When he and Naruto had managed to find one of the portals the few lucky witnesses had told them about all they'd found on the other side was an alarmingly hostile whale of massive proportions.
There had been no captives, not even corpses. Just an endless expanse of some sort of space. It was almost like a pocket dimension. At least, it had felt that way to them. After they'd killed the thing and returned, the two of them had at least hoped that would have put an end to the disappearances but now it was clear it hadn't. Cinder had informed him as much.
"Sasuke?" Sasuke turned to see Sakura looking at him. She tilted her head just a little, as if waiting for him to share his thoughts and Sasuke immediately put his worries from his mind. He had time to think on the issue later, now was meant for family. He smiled just a tiny bit as he marveled at such a thought. Family. His own.
There were days he never thought he'd have that. Even after settling things with Naruto. It had taken the better part of three years for him to mend his relationship with Sakura. For some time, he didn't even think that would be possible. Cinder had been little more than an on-and-off fling during those years. He had been prepared to burn that bridge if Sakura ever gave him a chance and he would have too, if not for Sakura herself.
She'd told him that Cinder helped make Sasuke the man capable of winning back her trust. Sakura didn't think he'd be able to let her go as easily as Sasuke seemed to think he would. As much as he wanted to deny it, Sasuke couldn't truly. Sakura could read him well. And so, he somehow ended up in a situation similar to Naruto's. Just with one less woman.
Sakura and Cinder managed to fulfill a dream he never thought could be true. No, even that wasn't right. Less a dream and more of a fanciful fantasy. He could never thank them enough.
"Sasuke?" Sakura repeated.
"Just thinking about how much I love you and our family, Sakura," Sasuke replied, his smirk widening as he watched Sakura's cheeks pinken before she looked away only for Sarada and Hinata to be giggling at her.
"Oh? Is it make Sakura blush time? Please, do include me in that game as well," Cinder purred. Sakura rolled her eyes with a huff before their little group strode forward and met up with Cinder's just a few feet ahead. Sakura and Cinder greeted one another with kisses on the cheek as Sarada gave her brother a hug while Boruto and Himawari did much the same with their siblings. Hinata, Weiss, and Yang exchanged their usual pleasantries which Sasuke ignored. He wasn't much the type for PDA, even with wives like Cinder and Sakura.
"Stop spacing out, you," said Cinder as she pressed herself against him, leaned up, and kissed him full on the lips. Sasuke kissed her back of course and cloud only roll his closed eyes as he felt her smile into the kiss before she broke it off. Sasuke wasn't one for PDA, not at all. But he also knew that denying Cinder her public displays typically just led to more outlandish ones later.
"I wasn't… how are things?" he asked. Cinder waved his concerns away with a casual flick of her wrist.
"We saw one another just two days ago, my husband. I assure you I'm fine," Cinder replied. Sasuke gave his usual hum, seeing no reason to press her further.
"Where is Naruto?" Yang asked. She looked to and fro, wondering if her man was just chatting with his citizens or something.
"He's still a tad busy with Shikamaru and the other Kage. He'll meet us later this evening," said Hinata.
"Dad's always busy," whined Boruto.
"Now now, your father's work is important. You know he loves you," said all three of Naruto's wives as if it was scripted. They looked up at each other, blinking. In that moment, Sasuke decided he should probably have a chat with Naruto about his time management. If only to nip any potential future problems in the bud. Not that he was the poster-boy of a father who was always around. He had too many responsibilities outside of the village for that.
"You'll see him soon, Boruto," Hinata said before the adults decided they best get their other errands taken care of while they still had time.
Naruto sighed as he walked along the street to his home. His day had been long. Longer than he'd expected, in fact. The meeting with the Kage had taken all day. Trying to get to the bottom of the recent disappearances was proving to be taxing for all of them. And once Winter, Raven, Ironwood, Glynda, and the other ruling parties of Remnant had joined them to compare notes and discuss their actions going forward, the meeting had only gotten more frustrating.
They had very little information at their disposal and that stupid whale from a month ago had only added to their confusion. Especially when Raven mentioned that the last Portal she'd ventured into had not lead to any such creature. It was just a long corridor of darkness that she'd quickly used her semblance to escape when she felt whatever energies inside trying to trap her there.
These portals led to vastly different places. And Naruto was sure that was intentional. He hoped all of this would unravel itself soon. He needed to ensure the safety of his citizens and recover all of those already missing. He needed a clue of some sort, but what? Naruto wondered if they'd just overlooked something, but he couldn't accept that. Between Sasuke, Weiss, Winter, Kakashi and all of the other brilliant minds they had combing the scenes for the faintest trace of anything, there's no way they could have missed a thing.
It wasn't until he was standing before the door to his home that his thoughts finally settled. Naruto didn't want this weighing on him once he stepped inside. He was often away from home with work both here and on Remnant, the least he could do was give his family his undivided attention when he was with them. He took a deep breath, sequestered his work thoughts to a corner of his mind, put a smile on his face, and opened the door.
"Daddy!" Himawari called as she rushed him. She taclked his leg and looked up at him, a sunny smile on her cute little face. With a grin, Naruto knelt down and hoisted her up as he walked toward the living room. He could still hear the chatter of his friends and family, even as Himawari talked about her day right into his ear. And Naruto didn't mind one bit.
As he stepped into the living room, his wives turned to greet him with smiles as the rest of his children ran up to him, all wanting some of his attention.
"I'm home, ttebayo!"
"Welcome home, Naruto," his wives responded. Naruto felt his heart warm as the weight of the world seemed to be lifted off his shoulders. All his worries could wait until tomorrow. They would get to the bottom of their troubles. But right now? He just wanted to enjoy the small slice of paradise he had right here in front of him.

Ages of Sasuke's and Naruto's kids:
Minato (Naruto's son with Weiss) – four
Taiyang ( Naruto's son with Yang) – four
Boruto – five
Himawari – three
Sarada – five
Itachi – five
And that's that. Epilogue complete. There is, as you can see, some wiggle room for potential continuation, but it could aslo remain just like this too. We'll see if I ever want to come back to this verse.
With far from home finally complete, I'd like to make some announcements. First and foremost, my discord has gone through an overhaul. Any of you that are already in it but have stopped checking in, I'd just like to say that I think you'll enjoy the new direction. For those who are interested in it and have never joined before, I think you'll like it and what I have in store for it now. In other news, as I now have kids and much less free time than before, I can no longer afford to spend copious amounts of time typing for no real reason.
Which is why I'm giving P a t reon a proper try. I'd made one once before, but hadn't given it a real go. My life had been quite different back then and I think I'd been in a funk as far as writing was concerned. I also wasn't really willing to go the express content route with it. That, of course, has changed now. Moving forward, all chapters of every fic I release will be on there a week ahead of their release on this site. There will be other perks to joining too, but that's the one I imagine most people really care about.
The discord can still be joined whether you are a Patron or not (which I would recommend if you'd like to keep up with what's coming next), and what with the recent overhaul the invite link has changed. The new link is as you see it below. And right beneath that will be the link to my P a t reon.
Anyway, that's all from me. Until the next story, bye bye.
