1000 years ago.

After a long time of trying and failing to find a new, powerful empire, he had chosen instead to search for the site he had come from, in search of what was locked away there. It was his sole purpose now to search for the sealed Bomas and deal with that problem. He had found his way to the land with the aid of a Scandinavian expansionist by the name of Leif Erikson. While the natives of this land had made swift recourse in driving out the invading force, he had not been among them. Rather, he had left the group the minute he had set foot on the land and was now making his way back to where his journey had began, and where it would end.

Now.

He had ran through the woods for what felt like days. He was out of breath. But Larry Handler was trying to put the fear of what had happened to his friends, his neighbours, even his 5-year-old daughter, and push it to one side as he sent his message, on a closed circuit to the news station one town over. "If anyone finds this, then I'm begging you. Stay away from Spring Falls. Something's happened there. The people there - something's happened to them. They've become monsters of some kind. I can't even touch them. I need to…" He was interrupted as something approached him. "No, please stay away. No, NOOOO!"

At Highway Base, Beck and Kalia were discussing recent events. "Just how did Ricky destroy that Boma so easily?", Beck pondered. "I didn't program that much power into the Ranger suits."

"I have a theory.", Kalia said in response. "The Rangers gained more power in order to defeat Damos the first time. Therefore, it makes sense that their power may be increasing beyond that."

"That would make some sense.", Beck nodded. "The question is, where is this power coming from? And how long can the suits adapt to the power increase?"

As the two pondered these questions, the nearby amulet glowed, as if responding.

Near the town of Spring Falls, reporter Stacey Field and her cameraman Mike were about to enter the town, having parked their van 5 miles out from town. "Are you sure about this, Stace?", the cameraman asked. "That recording was dismissed as a crank call by… everyone."

"I never give up on a good story, Mike.", Stacey answered him. "After that embarrassing incident where we went around running in medieval clothes. - seriously, I don't know why we did that - we need a chance to prove we're serious reporters."

With that speech given, Stacey and her cameraman snuck into the town, taking a good luck around. While there were plenty of people, they were incredibly pale and dressed in white, with chains wrapped around their bodies. "My god.", the cameraman gasped as he saw all this. "Who could've done this to all these people?"

"That would be me.", an ethereal voice rung out. Both turned around to see a white-shrouded figure with no legs, four spikes sticking out of his back and an unruly mop of blue hair covering his face. "And what do we have here. Two fools where they shouldn't be." He reached out his hand and unleashed chains at the two reporters, wrapping them up and causing their appearances to change. Stacey's hair, previously worn in a ponytail, was now not only loose, but was now strung over her hair. She and her cameraman now had blank stares on their faces, while their clothes had turned into white robes, as they began wandering the streets with the others. "Two more victims, soon the world will be ours.", the creature laughed.

At the Boma airship, Bugroth was laughing at the progress of his latest scheme. "Anyone hit with Spiriterror's beam will have the life removed from their bodies, rendering them living ghosts with no will of their own.", he explained. "While this is just the start of our conquest, soon we can conquer the whole world this way."

Damos, however, was less sure. "Boring.", he commented. "Our efforts should be focused on acquiring the Lost Princess, not on these meagre schemes."

"Well we don't have anything to go on with that search.", Hellivore pointed out. "Especially since you conveniently don't know what she looks like, despite that information being in your head."

"The information is fuzzy, yes.", Damos conceded. "But I know that if I could just see her in real life…"

"Well right now, you can't.", Reptillia pointed out. "So for now, we're going to go with Bugroth's ghost operation. It can't fail."

"When somebody says their plan can't fail, that's when it begins to fall apart.", Hellivore said under his breath as he walked out.

"Where're you going?", Malchemist asked.

"To make some preparations."

At a train station near to Spring Falls, the 5 Rangers, who had lost their company-provided car a few towns back, disembarked. "Well, the good news is that Crosslands is only a half hour walk from here.", Drew pointed out. "So we don't have far to go."

"Well that's a shame.", Raquel noted. "Because I called someone to come and give us a lift back to town."

"Really?", Roland asked. "Who?"

The question was soon answered with a call. "Hey guys." Everyone turned to see Chloe running towards them. "Welcome back.", she said.

As they headed out of the station, Chloe explained why she had volunteered to collect them. "There've been rumours of strange things happening in the neighbouring town of Spring Falls. People losing contact with relatives, vehicles going in, but never coming out…"

"Do they have any idea of what's happening?", Ricky asked.

"None whatsoever.", Chloe shook her head. "That's why when Raquel told her mother she was taking a train back, she asked me to pick you guys up." Then a limousine pulled up. "Ah, that'll be my driver."

As one of her bodyguards exited and opened the door for everyone, Artie whispered to everyone else. "I'm guessing you guys are thinking what I'm thinking on who's responsible."

"A Boma.", Raquel nodded. "We need to get to Spring Falls and investigate this personally."

"But how do we get the driver to take us there?", Drew asked. "If he knows about the rumours surrounding that place…"

"He doesn't.", Chloe assured them. "My household doesn't concern themselves with matters outside the house unless it affects one of them."

Roland was confused by this. "Do any of your household staff go outside?"

"Outside of me, my driver and Miss Beryl, no.", Chloe shook her head. When everyone had sat down in the backseat, she spoke up to the driver. "I just remembered. We need to go to Spring Falls to pick up some books for the next semester. Can you drop us off there?" The driver didn't look completely enthusiastic. "Don't worry, it's not far from the house. I can walk back once we pick them up." The man sighed and put his foot on the accelerator, taking the car to Spring Falls. But unknown to the Rangers, they were being observed from afar.

"What?", the Rangers are on their way to Spring Falls?", Malchemist said in shock.

"Indeed.", Reptillia nodded from the other end of the communication. "I saw them discuss it while returning to town as part of my alibi."

Bugroth wasn't worried by this. Instead, he chose to laugh out loud. "This is perfect. I can make the Rangers more of my ghost servants soon enough."

"Reptillia and Hellivore tried similar schemes before.", Damos pointed out. "What makes you so sure that you'll succeed?"

"One simple reason.", Bugroth answered, as he rubbed his hands together. "Because I am a genius. Spiriterror!" The newest Boma appeared. "The Power Rangers will be arriving soon. I want you to greet them."

"As you wish.", Spiriterror bowed as he floated away. As he did that, Damos looked on.

"Let's just see how successful you can be, Bugroth."

In Spring Falls, the party of 6 had been dropped off in the town centre as the limo drove off. "So, now we look around for… what exactly?", Artie asked.

"Ideally, something that could explain what's happening in this town.", Raquel told him. "Hopefully, that could help Beck and Kalia figure something out to help resolve things here."

"We should ask around.", Ricky suggested as he went up to a man he saw facing away from them. "Excuse me sir. Do you think you could…?" He put his hand on the man's shoulder, only for it to go through. "…help us?"

Chloe was shocked at this. "What's wrong with him?", she asked as the man turned around to face them, an aggressive look on his face. Now everyone could see him dressed in white and clad in chains. Others like him soon appeared.

"Somehow, he's a ghost.", Drew realised. "They all are."

The ghosts all approached the group of outsiders. "Capture the humans.", they all said in unison. "Capture the humans."

"I'm guessing none of them are going to be friendly.", Roland suggested.

"Spread out.", Ricky called out, with everyone splitting up into groups of true. Ricky went off with Artie, Drew went off with Roland and Raquel and Chloe made up the last pair.

Spiriterror appeared in front of the ghosts. "Spread out and find them, my puppets. I won't let you rest in peace until you bring me those humans."

In an alleyway, Ricky and Artie came to a stop. "Okay, I think it's safe to say that a Boma was behind this.", Artie said.

"Oh, definitely.", Ricky nodded. "Let's see if Kalia can help us." He pulled up his communicator. "Ricky calling Highway Base. Come in, Highway Base. Can you hear us?"

"We hear you, quit yelling.", Beck's voice came through. "Welcome home boys. Where are you right now? We've got a party prepared for you."

"Call it a detour.", Artie told him. "Anyway, we've come across a town where we think a Boma's active. Kalia, do you know any that can create ghosts?"

"'Create ghosts'?", Kalia's voice came from the other side. "From what I can recall, that sounds like Spiriterror. He doesn't so much kill people to make his ghosts, as he does drain their energy and render them intangible, while also placing them under his control with those chains."

"Is there a way we can reverse the process on his victims?", Ricky asked. "Because if Spiriterror has the whole town under his sway, then I don't want to live knowing that they become full on ghosts with Spiriterror's destruction."

"There is one way.", Kalia informed them. "The wings of a silverfish genus found in this area of your world. They have the ability to nullify his spell upon contact. In fact, there's a nest of them about 3 miles west of your position."

It was then that a group of ghosts appeared before the two, arms outstretched. "We'd better find those silverfish.", Ricky suggested as he darted to what he knew was the west.

"Good idea.", Artie nodded as he ran after his friend.

In another part of town, Raquel and Chloe came to a stop. "So this is what your battles are like, huh?", Chloe asked. "You guys really have it tough."

"Believe me, this is just the calm before the storm.", Raquel told her. "Though I will admit, it is more extreme than the parts of our battles you've seen so far. The only way it could get anymore extreme is if you were threatened by the main man of this operation himself. That's one of two things you're missing from the checklist of our lives."

Chloe smiled at this, feeling accepted by Raquel. "What's the other?"

"Getting turned into something against your will." The conversation was then interrupted by the arrival of the ghosts, one of whom Raquel recognised. "Jen Forest from Spring Falls High? Don't tell me they got you too?" Ghost-Jen then lashed out, reaching her arm out, as if to claw Raquel's face off. "Looks like your personality hasn't changed much. Chloe, get behind me. I'll hold them off."

But this advice came too late to have an impact. The ghosts picked up Raquel, carrying her off. But Chloe was left completely untouched. "They left me alone and took Raquel.", she noted. "But why? Their orders were to get the humans."

From nearby, Damos got a good look at Chloe. "That girl…", he noted. "I'm sure I've seen her before." The images in his head of the Princess Hana became clearer. She was now wearing an orange and black outfit with white tights, consisting of a miniskirt, white tights, boots, armour on her shoulders, gloves and a headdress. She had long, brown hair sticking out the back of said headdress, which sat on the head of a teenage girl with a pretty face. Damos then returned to reality. "Soon, I will have the Princess in my hands."

Elsewhere, Drew and Roland had hidden in the woods. "In all honesty, this is not how I expected to spend the last few days of my vacation.", Roland huffed. "Most kids don't have to worry about monster attacks seemingly everywhere they go."

"Most kids don't stumble upon a 3000 year-old truth.", Drew pointed out. "But I'm with you there. I was expecting the Bomas to give us time off as much as school did. But, I was being a little too optimistic."

"Hopefully, we'll be able to graduate on schedule at the end of the next semester.", Roland said optimistically. "Then, we can focus all of our time and energy to wiping out the Bomas."

"Or, even more hopefully, we wipe them out before we graduate in peace.", Drew suggested. He then saw Ricky and Artie running towards them. "Boy, are we glad to see you two."

"Same here, pal.", Artie nodded. "We're here because we've learned of something that could free those people."

"It's the wings from a group of silverfish that live nearby.", Ricky added. "We've just got to go another few feet to get them."

The conversation was interrupted by a cry of terror. Ricky, Drew and Artie turned around to see Roland carried off by ghosts. Among the ghosts was Bugroth. "Well, well. Two Rangers captured in one hour. Once I capture you three, this'll truly be my lucky day."

"'Two Rangers'?", Drew asked, before realising. "He must've caught Raquel earlier."

"Well we're not letting him get us.", Ricky assured his friend. "Not until we get those wings. Guys, let's go."

"Start Up! Ready, Go!" The three morphed into their Ranger suits and began a battle with Bugroth.

Elsewhere, Roland was dragged into a courthouse. "Hey, let me go.", he called out. They threw him to the side, where he saw Raquel waiting for him. "They got you too?"

"Unfortunately, yes.", was the response from his teammate. "Luckily, Chloe seems to have gotten away alright."

"Silence!" Both turned to see Spiriterror standing in the judge's dock, banging a gavel, while a group of ghosts sat in the jury box. "This court will now be called to order. The defendants stand accused of wiping out several Bomas who were my comrades. How do you plead?"

"Are you seriously asking that?", Raquel asked. "You know we're guilty, and we're not going to get off with your jury, so why don't you just skip to the sentencing?"

"I'm going to allow this.", Spiriterror decided. "Jury, what is your verdict?"

"Guilty.", the ghosts of the jury all moaned in a sequence.

"Very well.", Spiriterror banged his gavel. "I sentence the two of you to wander the streets of this town forever, as ghosts." He unleashed a pair of chains at the two, causing their clothes to change into white shrouds as they stood up and joined with the rest of the crowd outside. "First these two, then the rest of the Rangers, and finally the whole world will become my ghosts."

Elsewhere, Drew and Artie were sent flying back by Bugroth's attack. "It's no good.", the Boma general cackled. "You can't hope to defeat me."

"They can't, but I can.", Ricky stated, drawing his two swords. "I'm sure you know what I did to your buddy Hellivore's soldiers with these."

Bugroth immediately panicked. "On second thoughts, I'll just withdraw for now. Strategically, of course." He then teleported out.

"Thanks for that save, man.", Artie said as he approached the nest. "We're in luck. There're a few wings loose in here."

Drew also checked. "Yeah, but not enough for a whole town. How can we hope to free everyone with these?"

"We free our friends from his captivity first.", Ricky suggested. "Then they can help us defeat Spiriterror. Hitting him with one of these should work just as well." He picked up three of the wings. "Now then, since we're close to Highway Base again, we can summon these. Accel Runners."

The bikes the three rode regularly came to them. "Let's go.", Drew said as the three rode back into town.

And in Spring Falls, Chloe was calling out. "Ricky! Drew! Artie! Roland! Anyone!", she looked around. "Somebody please find me."

As if on cue, the three remaining Rangers appeared on their Accel Runners. "Chloe. Thank heaven you're alright.", Ricky said as he got off the bike. "Where's Raquel?"

Chloe closed her eyes and shook her head. "I'm sorry, guys. She got taken by those ghosts. They didn't touch me for some reason."

"Why not?", Artie asked. "Surely, their mission to capture the humans would include you."

"Regardless, it helps us.", Drew realised. He gave two silverfish wings to Chloe. "Try and find Raquel and Roland. They've both been captured and likely become ghosts. These can turn them back to normal."

Chloe took them and nodded. "What about you?"

"Spiriterror wants us.", Ricky said. "So we're going to have him come and get us."

As they turned their bikes around and sped off, Chloe looked at the two wings and set off running into the town.

"So, the Rangers want me to get them.", Spiriterror noted, as he began floating out of town, to the woods. "Challenge accepted."

Chloe quickly saw Raquel and Roland, now two of the ghosts wandering the town. "Let's see if these work.", she thought as she presented the silverfish wings to the ghosts.

"Go away!", the ghost of Roland hissed, as the wings' worked their magic, turning the two back into humans. "What happened?"

"You were turned into ghosts.", Chloe answered him. "These wings can counteract the effect. And I think Spiriterror is about to corner the other Rangers in the woods."

Raquel took one of the wings and nodded. "Thanks for your help, Chloe. We'll take care of the rest. You get back home." The two turned and ran off, morphing mid run.

In the woods, Spiriterror looked around. "Where are you, Rangers?", he hissed. His question soon answered itself when Ricky and Roland kicked him together, followed by Drew, Raquel and Artie doing likewise. Both knocked him back.

"Let's just see what this silverfish wing does when used directly on you.", Roland announced as he pulled out his Dune Bow, with the wing attached to an arrow.

"No, I beg you. Don't.", Spiriterror pleaded as he launched a fireball at the Rangers. But Roland still dodged and jumped into the air, firing the special arrow at the Boma, causing him to explode.

"Another job well done.", Roland said as he landed on the ground.

In the city, the rest of the ghosts turned back into humans, all of whom were confused by the change in scenery, in particular one reporter. "They'll never take us seriously if we report on this, Mike.", Stacey Field said to her cameraman. "Let's keep this story to ourselves."

Back in the woods, Bugroth appeared. "Don't worry, Spiriterror. I'll help you revive. Winds of Resurrection, blow!" He played his flute, generating the tornado to revive Spiriterror as a giant.

"Beck, send the Megazord.", Ricky radioed.

"Way ahead of you.", was Beck's response as the Racer Megazord zoomed into view. It drew its sword and began fencing with Spiriterror, who wielded a wooden plank as if it were a sword. He eventually teleported behind the Megazord to attack from behind. "Didn't see that coming, did you?", he asked.

In the cockpit, the Rangers were shaken.

"Time to send you to the grave.", Spiriterror declared as he swung his sword down, only for it to be blocked by the Racer Megazord's own weapon, before being kicked back. "That's not fair.", he cried as he launched a fireball, which was dispersed by the sword.

"Racing Strash!" The Megazord fired a beam from its sword, which buffeted Spiriterror, before finishing him with a cross slashing manoeuvre.

"That was a ghost of an experience.", Spiriterror moaned as he collapsed and exploded.

At the Boma Palace, Malgramon greeted 3 of his generals. "So, you have a new addition do you?", he asked Bugroth, Malchemist and Reptillia. "Well I certainly don't see one."

"Come to think of it, Hellivore's not here, either.", Bugroth pointed out. "I wonder why."

In Crosslands, the Rangers, still morphed, walked through the streets back to their homes. "Hopefully our parents won't mind us being slightly late.", Raquel said. "As long as nothing else happens."

As if on cue, they were blown backwards by the appearance of Hellivore. "Red Ranger. Your break may be over, but I will not go any easier on you now that you have less time on your hands." He Drew his two swords and posed with them, before making a cross formation. "Let's go." He leapt up and locked swords with Ricky, before Artie down, and quickly disposing of Roland and Drew in a short skirmish. "Here's a technique I've been saving just for you." He summoned up flames with his swords, launching them seemingly behind the Rangers, before they rebounded and knocked the 5 down.

"You're getting tougher.", Ricky noted as he recovered. "But I'm not about to give up."

"How bold.", Hellivore hissed as he charged at his enemy.

But before anything else could happen, a beam of light fell from the sky and knocked both sides back. It turned out to be Damos. "Don't forget, Hellivore. We're both on the same team now. And I have just as much of a score to settle with Ricky here."

"Don't interfere.", Hellivore growled as he prepared his sword. "Or I won't hesitate to destroy you too."

"Who said anything about interfering?", Damos asked as he ran forward and began slashing at the Rangers with his sword, with only Drew being able to put up a fight before falling, albeit very briefly. "In this state, he's two weak to provide either of us with a decent fight. Plus these others could interfere."

Hellivore was annoyed by having this pointed out to him. "Very well, I'll give you today, Red Ranger. No, Ricky. But tomorrow, you will be mine." The two Boma Commanders then turned and teleported out.

All of the Rangers demorphed and stood up. "Looks like things are only going to get tougher.", Ricky pointed out to the others.
