Classes had resumed at Crosslands High School, as the final semester of the year began. "I hope you all realise that exams are coming up.", Raquel reminded Ricky, Roland and Artie as they walked in. "I don't know about any of you, but I want to try and get into a good university."
"Eh, I don't really need to worry much about that.", Artie said, assured of himself. "I already did good on my last set of exams and I'm set for life. At least that's what my mom says."
Raquel sighed. "Hopefully you two can take this more seriously."
"Oh, certainly.", Ricky nodded. "Though I am confused when it comes to English Lit. Why is the book called 'Of Mice and Men', when there's only one mouse in it and it's not that major? They should've just called it 'Of Men'."
"Oh, don't even get me started on "To Kill a Mockingbird'.", Roland added. "I thought it would feature some birds being murdered, but it was about racism and stuff."
As Raquel sighed at this discussion happening in front of her, not far away, Drew went over to his friend Daniel. "Hey, Danny. It's been a while since I've spoken to you. How was the break?" Daniel didn't answer him, instead pushing past him to continue walking.
"Well, that was rude.", Chloe commented as she walked up to Drew.
"Yes.", Drew nodded. "And not like Danny at all."
At the Boma Palace, Damos was speaking with Malgramon, sharing what he knew. "So my Lord Malgramon, once I gained the knowledge of the Princess's appearance, knowing she was your enemy's daughter, I had to pass this information on to you. And it just so happens that I have discovered that the Princess is a girl living in this local area, so finding her should be no trouble whatsoever."
"You have done well.", Malgramon nodded. "Better than any of my other warriors have done. Perhaps you should take charge of them."
The 4 Boma Commanders were shocked to hear this. "Lord Malgramon, you can't be serious.", Malchemist gasped.
"Oh, I've never been more serious.", Malgramon hissed. "All of you, full-blooded Boma warriors, have brought back nothing but failure from countless battles. Whereas Damos, one who still hasn't fully become one of us, has managed almost constant success ever since his rebirth."
"Yes. A rebirth that I was responsible for.", Hellivore insisted. "I should receive the glory you're hoisting upon him."
"You can't even defeat the one Ranger you focus all your energies on beating.", Damos pointed out. "What good is a single-minded soldier who can't even accomplish a simple task?"
Reptillia stepped forward. "Lord Malgramon, I have made a plan to capture the Power Rangers and take the power of the gryphon for your benefit. Allow me to carry it out."
"I'll help her do it.", Bugroth chimed in.
"Fine.", Malgramon sighed. "But Reptillia, if this plan fails, then don't bother coming back alive. This is your last chance."
Reptillia nervously nodded at this. "Understood." She then signalled for Bugroth to turn into his quad bike form, mounting him to set off out of the Palace.
"I won't let her have all the glory.", Hellivore hissed, before walking up to Malgramon. "I will defeat the Red Ranger. All I need is additional power from you to match the new power he has attained from the gryphon."
"A bold suggestion.", Malgramon noted. "Very well, I will give you but a fragment of my very being." He generated a ball of purple energy and pushed it into Heelivore's chest, causing him to crackle with energy. "But bear in mind what I said to Reptillia will also apply to you, Hellivore. If you don't succeed, then don't bother coming back alive."
"Right.", Hellivore nodded, teleporting out.
Malgramon then turned to Damos as a nervous Malchemist made his exit. "You have your mission of finding the Princess. See to it."
"Jawohl.", Damos commented as he left the chamber.
Back at the school, as Reptillia slipped into her disguise as Ms. Seen, the school secretary, our 5 heroes sat down in class as the role was taken by Mrs. Collins. "Chloe Ambo?"
"Present.", was Chloe's response.
"Artie Baldwin?", was the next name on the register.
"Present.", Artie said back.
"Dylan Beckett?"
A brunette girl nodded at this. "Present."
"Kate Bexter?", Mrs. Collins continued. To her surprise and confusion, she could see that the girl who was next on the list, an Asian girl, who was fairly tall and had blue eyes with a few strands of hair dyed blonde. "Kate Bexter?", she repeated, hoping that this would provoke a response. But it didn't. "Miss Bexter, if this is a joke, then…"
Kate Bexter then stood up, as did Daniel Rashton, Tom Summers, Amelia Longman, Adam Whitehead, Kylie Fisher and Rupert Halliday. They then dissolved into Savants, which caused the rest of the class to react in terror, except for the 5 Rangers. "Savants!", Ricky called out in surprise. "They're getting bold."
"'Savants'? What're you talking about, Ricky?", Mrs. Collins asked.
"No time to explain, Mom.", Raquel interjected. "They're here for some specific targets. Namely, our little group."
Before Mrs. Collins could question this, the intercom blared into life as a female voice blared over it. "Attention all staff and students, your school is now under the control of me and my army. If you want to ensure that nothing happens to anyone, will Richard Jackson, Andrew Williams, Arthur Baldwin, Roland McCormick and Raquel Collins please vacate your classroom and make your way to the Principal's office? Thank you." The intercom then shut off.
"Reptillia.", Drew whispered to Chloe, who was the closest person in the know relative to him in the seating plan.
"You'll have to go and face her.", Chloe whispered back. "We'll hopefully be fine in here."
"Wait, I'm confused.", Evan Borgh, the school's star athlete spoke up. "Why those five in particular? What's so special about them?"
"I don't know.", Artie lied. "But if this lady wants us, then who are we to say no?"
"Exactly.", Roland added, as he walked up to the Savant at the door. "Hey, ugly. Your boss on the intercom called for me and my four friends. Are you gonna let us out or what?"
The Savant grunted and moved aside. "Wait!", Samantha Hawkins called out. "I don't like this. What's going to happen to you five?"
"I don't know.", Ricky confessed. "But this woman wants us in particular and she will step over whoever she needs to to get at us."
"Don't worry.", Raquel said to assure everyone, in particular her mother. "We'll be back soon."
As the 5 left the room, Mrs. Collins looked on, thinking to herself. "The 5 of you are hiding something. I wish you'd tell me what it is."
In a field on the outskirts of town, the Crosslands Soccer team were preparing to practice in an open field. "You sure we should be practicing off school grounds?", one of the players asked the coach. "Especially with all these strange incidents and monster attacks recently?"
"Eh, you're worrying too much, kiddo.", the coach assured him. "There's no monsters going to attack us."
It was at that point they were leapt upon by a portly blue-skinned Boma, with black hair styled in a topknot, a large mouth on its belly and a mawashi covering its lower body. "You will face me, Slamco, in an honourable battle to the end!", he howled as he began charging into the team.
Inside Highway Base, Beck was contacted by the Rangers. "Beck, Kalia, I assume you're aware of the situation up here.", Ricky's voice came through.
"You mean where Reptillia's taken over the school with a bunch of Savants?", was Beck's reply. "Don't worry. I moved the base slightly out of its original position. That tunnel won't lead anywhere but a bottomless cavern."
"That's good to hear.", Raquel responded. "But how are we supposed to get to you? For that matter, how are you going to get out?"
"Don't worry about that.", Kalia assured her. "Beck's been working on giving the base a little upgrade."
"An upgrade I'd like to save use of until it's absolutely necessary.", Beck added. "Don't worry about me for now, just go and meet Reptillia." He ended the call and went over to the amulet passed down through his family, the one with the link to Pallagos. It was glowing with energy. "This thing has never given off this level of power before.", he commented.
"Power. Power. Power. Power.", a voice emanating from seemingly nowhere echoed. "Danger. Danger. Danger. Danger."
"Master?", Kalia recognised the voice as that of Pallagos. "Is he tying to reestablish contact with Earth, or something? If so, then what for?"
In the corridors of the school, the 5 Rangers punched their way through the Savants on the way to the Principal's office. "If she was making an announcement to the whole school, she'll have to been in there.", Raquel pointed out. "We haven't had a morning announcer since my mom started here."
"Dare I ask why?", Ricky commented.
"Well, you see…", Drew began before Ms. Seen appeared, clapping her hands slowly.
"Bravo, you came when I asked you to.", "Ms. Seen" said sarcastically, as she took off her glasses. "But then again, I shouldn't have expected less from you heroes."
"Wait a minute.", Artie realised. "Is the school secretary really saying that she's…?"
"Exactly.", Reptillia said as she threw off her business suit, returning to her normal appearance. "I've been infiltrating this place for months, to try and discover your identities. And I did, thanks to you and your friend Damos stating the names of Red and Blue, or rather Richard Jackson, born April 5th, 1975 and Arthur Baldwin, born August 11th, 1975. From there, I had to find two people with those names and three more people who spent a lot of time with you two. That led me to Andrew Williams, born 4th February 1975, Roland McCormick, born November 20th 1974 and Raquel Collins, born September 8th 1974. From there, I was able to execute the plan I'm carrying out now."
"What've you done with our classmates?", Drew demanded to know.
Reptillia held out a few pearls in her hand. "Don't worry, I didn't harm any of them. Though how long that holds true depends on how you cooperate with me."
Before she could do anything, a figure leapt through the window and grabbed the jewels from Reptillia's hands, dropping them and turning them back into their original forms before departing. Then a call came in from Beck. "Rangers, there's another incident occurring at the training fields. Get over there."
"Gotcha.", Everyone nodded, before all of them leapt out of the window, with Ricky holding behind to say something to Reptillia. "Don't think we're done here. We'll be back to free all of your hostages." He then joined the others in leaping out the window.
Reptillia was left fuming at this, turning to one of her subordinate Savants. "Well, what're you waiting for? Take these kids to their classroom. Now!" She cracked her whip, terrifying the Savant into compliance. "Meanwhile, I have a bone to pick."
The Rangers, now morphed, zoomed towards the field on their Accel Runners. Once there, they saw Slamco continuing to push the team apart, when everyone noticed them. "Get to safety.", Raquel called out. "We'll handle this." The team all nodded and set off.
"Ah, so you're the Power Rangers.", Slamco declared. "You should provide me with a challenge." He stopped Ricky's Accel Runner with his bare hands, before pushing it backwards. But this gave Drew and Raquel the opportunity to launch simultaneous kicks to his forehead, followed by Artie and Roland doing the same. The combined force of this knocked him back, but he landed on his feet. "That won't be enough to stop me.", he declared as he ran forward and threw Drew over his shoulder. "I'll show you my true power." He removed his loincloth, exposing a set of sharp teeth and causing red tattoos to appear on his face as he grew to a giant size.
"Alright, let's call the Megazord.", Ricky declared. But he was shot back by a fireball before he could summon it.
The attacker then revealed himself. It was Hellivore. "Red Ranger, you and I will have our final showdown here and now. Your friends can deal with Slamco without you." He fired another ball of flame at Ricky. "Defend yourself, or else."
"I guess I've got no choice.", Ricky nodded, before turning to Drew. "Can I trust you to handle the big guy?"
"Definitely.", Drew nodded. "Go and beat Hellivore. We'll handle his lackey." As Ricky nodded and ran off, Drew spoke into his communicator. "Racer Megazord." As the Megazord came running to the scene, Drew sat in the centre seat, thinking to himself. "We need to lure that thing away from the city so it can't do much harm."
In the Rangers' class, the restored students were thrown in by the Savants. "Oh, thank god they're not skeleton cavemen.", one of the boys, Sean Reeves, commented.
"The question is, what do we do now?", another girl, Jacqueline Keaton, asked. "They're guarding our main viable exit."
"We just need a distraction.", Samantha suggested. "And I know just the one." As she said this, Chloe was beginning to feel uneasy, as if something inside of her was struggling to get out.
Elsewhere, Slamco had been lured to a field, with both of them taking a stance. "Let's do this, ugly.", Drew declared.
"Oh, definitely.", Slamco replied. The Megazord then charged at Slamco, with the two thrusting their palms at each other. The Megazord was the first to be knocked back. "Taste my Sumo Crush!", Slamco announced as he put his hand around the Megazord's neck, almost forcing him to crash into a nearby mountain, which would almost certainly damage the Convoy Zord. But the Megazord was able to hold on and push back its opponent. "You are an exceptional fighter, Mr. Megazord."
"As are you.", Drew nodded as he kicked Slamco down by targeting his knee. Slamco then unleashed a second pair of hands from his ear nostrils, pushing his foe backwards. "That's not going to stop us, no matter how gross it is."
"And it is pretty gross.", Artie added.
As Slamco continued to push the Megazord back, he found himself struggling. "What's happening?", he asked.
"Sorry, but I turned on our magnetic boots.", Raquel answered him. "We aren't going anywhere."
The Megazord pushed Slamco several feet back and then tripped him up when he came nearer, injuring his leg. It then picked up the Boma and flung him over its shoulder and down to the ground. Slamco's tattoos disappeared. "Congratulations, you have proven yourself to be the stronger fighter. I salute your strength." He then collapsed and exploded, the force of the last blow having been enough to finish him off.
"So do I.", Drew added solemnly.
"Now come on.", Roland urged. "We need to send the Megazord back so we can help Ricky."
Speaking or Ricky, he and Hellivore were locked in a vicious sword fight. When it seemed that Ricky had managed to lock blades with his foe, he forgot his opponent had another, which he used to slash at his opponent, before knocking him down. "Clearly you have learned nothing from our various previous battles, Red Ranger."
"I've learned this.", Ricky declared defiantly as he charged up his two swords. "I don't give up until you Bomas are defeated." He then swung them around in a circle. "Red Auto Crash!"
The attack collided with Hellivore, seemingly finishing him. "Once more, you show how truly naive you are." Hellivore reappeared behind and punched him forward. "The pact that I made to become a Boma warrior stipulated that I serve Malgramon forever. As such, ever since you destroyed me during the Loveater battle, my spirit has been unable to pass on, essentially rendering me immortal."
"This… is the first I'm hearing of that explanation.", Ricky commented as he pulled himself up. "But it's nice to know there's a reason I keep seeing you after I know I took you out."
"And this will be the time I repay the favour.", Hellivore declared. Then, he felt a brief spasm in his chest, which he quickly recovered from. "Prepare yourself, Ricky Jackson!", he yelled as he drew his two sword and ran forwards.
"Bring it on, Janos!", Ricky called back, responding to his opponent's taunt using real names with his own, while drawing his Gearshift Saber so he could face his rival on even terms.
Back in the classroom, the hostages had all discussed their plan. "I'm not sure about this.", Mrs. Collins said. "I'd hate to be leaving you kids alone with these… things."
"You're the only one anyone will believe about the situation, teach.", Samantha pointed out. "That places you in the best position to get help from whoever you can think of. We'll try and handle the situation here."
"Okay then.", Chloe took a deep breath, before beginning to make moaning noises, while thrashing violently enough that her glasses fell off. While somewhat over the top, they had the desired effect of luring in the Savants. "Feeling… faint. Need… water.", she wheezed, pretending to be sick.
As the Savant got up and headed to get water, he saw Mrs. Collins making her way to the door. He immediately threw his sickle at her to stop her, as more Savants appeared from the ground and began to encroach her. "The plan's not working.", she called out.
"No, it has to work. It just has to.", Chloe thought as she concentrated, her eyes glowing orange. "Leave her alone!", she called out, pointing her arm. This sent a burst of energy that knocked the Savant closest to her backwards, causing him to disintegrate. The other Savants, terrified, backed off from Mrs. Collins in obedience. Chloe was confused by this, but still managed to call out to her teacher. "Go, now, before they regroup." Mrs. Collins nervously nodded and headed out the door, leaving the students alone, while Chloe was left thinking about what just happened. "How did I do that? I'm just a normal girl, aren't I?"
In the mountains, Damos once more sensed the Princess. "No, it can't be." He laughed at the notion. "She was right under everyone's noses the entire time and no-one ever realised… until now." He then leapt down off the ledge he was on.
In the mountains, Drew, Raquel, Artie and Roland found Ricky and Hellivore, who were still in the midst of their fight. "All of you, stay back!", Hellivore hissed as he launched a blast from his sword that knocked everyone back. "No-one will interfere with this fight. Not you Rangers, not Malgramon, not even you, Reptillia."
Reptillia emerged from the shadows, clapping her hands. "Bravo, Hellivore. Tell me, how did you figure out I was here."
Hellivore grunted at this. "It was only logical that you'd figure out I was responsible for giving the Power Rangers a chance to escape and come after me to air your grievances."
Raquel was shocked by this. "You helped us out back there? Why?"
"So he could get Ricky where he wanted him.", Artie answered her. "After all, they can't fight if one of them is trapped."
Drew nodded in agreement. "Hellivore would do anything to ensure they get a fair fight."
"The question is, why?", Roland asked. "Why is Hellivore so obsessed with Ricky?"
"Why? You have the gall to ask me that?", Hellivore snarled, stopping the fight momentarily. "It's because he's a lot like me."
Ricky stopped too, putting his sword in the ground. "I'm afraid I don't really follow. Aside from us both being red and using two swords, I don't see a lot of overlap."
"Once I was like you.", Hellivore explained. "I too was a young warrior chosen by the Gryphon Pallagos to fight the Boma onslaught. But as the fight went on, I lost more and more allies, with victories becoming increasingly hollow. And then, as you know, the woman I loved was taken from me, at which point I joined with Malgramon. When I saw your friend for the first time, I sensed a similar warrior's spirit to my own. Which is why several of my plans have targeted your friends, purely to demonstrate that we two are not so different."
"Is that it?", a Ricky asked as he pulled his swords out and prepared himself. "Well I'm going to show you that we're nothing alike. Because I actually have something to fight for. This ends here."
Hellivore laughed at this. "Nice to see you're full of spirit. But it won't matter." His body began to glow with a dark energy. "You should've defeated me long ago. Before the power of Malgramon was flowing through my body." He then charged forwards with his own two swords.
"It'll make no difference.", Ricky declared. "I'll still come out on top." As he said this, a beam of energy fired out of Highway Base, finding its way to Ricky. "What is this? Could it be… Pallagos? Are you helping me?", he thought.
"What's that power?", Raquel asked as she saw the events unfolding. "Where did it come from?"
"Who cares?", Artie said in response. "Ricky and Hellivore are evenly matched."
The two rivals charged at each other delivering their signature attacks to their enemies upon contact. There was an explosion covering them, which soon dispersed to show both were still standing, though Ricky had been knocked out of his Ranger suit. After a few tense seconds, Ricky felt a pain on his shoulder… but Hellivore was the first to fall, due to a fairly deep wound that Ricky had managed to inflict to him. The other Rangers were happy at this. "Ricky did it.", Drew called out. "He won."
But Ricky was in no mood to celebrate. Instead, he ran over to his downed opponent. "Hellivore, are you okay?", he asked. "Hellivore? Janos? Can you hear me?"
Hellivore breathed out and stood up. "When you slashed me just now, I saw my entire life, everyone I've ever known and lost." He stood up and looked at Reptillia, as the image of his wife Marina filled his mind's eye. The two were the same. "Reptillia, why do you look like my lost love? TELL ME!"
Reptillia laughed at this turn of events. "So, you've recovered the memories I blocked out, have you? I supposed it would only be a matter of time."
The Rangers were confused. "Wait, what're you talking about?", Drew asked. "Why do you look like his wife?"
"Do you really think bandits would break into a woman's home to kill her and steal her face?", was Reptillia's response. "Malgramon took a good look at Janos' performance in battle and decided he'd make a powerful ally if he could be turned. I myself had taken a liking to Princess Marina's face and wanted to distance myself from my past as a lower ranked Boma warrior to blend in with the elite. So I eliminated Marina from the equation take what I wanted, in turn giving Malgramon what he wanted: one of Pallagos' greatest fighters under his control. And I took the liberty of having the Horror Hag not only fuse Marina's face into my body, but also to blur the memory of it in Hellivore's mind."
"You witch!", Hellivore declared as he drew his sword. "When I'm done with you, you'll-"
He was then interrupted by spasms overtaking his body, as it was enveloped in dark energy. Reptillia laughed again. "You fool, you should know that Malgramon would never allow another being to wield his energies for as long as you have. Now that your body has bonded to the energies, Malgramon will be recreated in your mind, to carry on his goal of destruction."
"What?", Ricky called out as he went over to Hellivore. "Hellivore, you can fight this. Speak to me, Hellivore."
But then the body stood upright, as a new, raspier voice spoke up. "There is no more Hellivore, there is only Malgramon now." The new Malgramon then slashed Ricky back, before roaring.
"We need to stop him before he can do any major damage.", Ricky stated. "Guys, let's go."
"Start Up! Ready, Go!"
In a flash, everyone was morphed into their Ranger suits, with a fight commencing soon after. Ricky swung his Auto Saber down, only for the blade to snap off. Malgramon then knocked the Red Ranger aside, before deflecting blows from Drew's Convoy Hammer and Raquel's Motor Staff back at them. He then walked through shots from Artie's Trek Blaster and Roland's Dune Bow, before pushing both down effortlessly. "Destroy, destroy, destroy!"
From the Boma Palace, Malgramon and Bugroth, the latter having returned from helping Reptillia secure the school, watched this play out. "Whoever would've thought that Hellivore would prove to be so destructive once your power took him over, sire?", Bugroth asked.
"Indeed.", Malgramon nodded. "I may just have to take direct control of Hellivore's body for myself to escape this prison."
Back at the battle scene, Ricky looked on as the new Malgramon continued to overpower his friends. "I need to get back in there. They need me.", he thought. "But what if I can't defeat him any easier than they can."
"Don't fret, young Ricky.", a voice echoed. "That power will be yours soon."
Before Ricky could ask who said that, he saw the surrounding area, and everyone in it, frozen as he came face to face with someone he had seen before, though not in person. "Pallagos.", Ricky recognised him. "Then it was you that I heard before."
"Indeed.", Pallagos nodded. "Ricky, the power of you and your comrades is ever increasing. You have reached the stage where I see fit to lend you a portion of my power." He generated an image of a chest plate, seemingly made of gold with scale patterns similar to Pallagos' own. "This Body of the Gryphon Armour will grant you the ability to remove any advantage your opponent has over you, ensuring a fair fight. It will also allow you to harness an additional power from your Auto Saber and Vroom Blaster."
"Then what am I waiting around for?", Ricky asked. "I'll take it." He clenched his hand with Pallagos' paw. "Awaken, Armour of the Gryphon: Body!"
Time resumed and everyone saw Ricky glowing with a blinding light, which cleared to show his suit had turned to a darker shade of red, with yellow lines down his arms and legs. He also now had the armour plate he had seen in his vision surrounding his chest. "What's that?", Raquel asked.
"The Armour of the Gryphon.", Ricky said in response, his voice monotone. "A gift from Pallagos."
"He can give you whatever.", the new Malgramon hissed. "I'll destroy it all the same." He charged forward.
As he did so, Ricky took note of the scar he had left in his previous battle with Hellivore. "His weak spot.", he thought as he ran over and hit the new Malgramon at that point, his hand phasing inwards, before pulling out a green ball, that dispersed into nothing. "I've removed your ability to reincarnate. Or rather, Hellivore's curse of reincarnation. Regardless, this next battle will be your final dance."
"What?", the new Malgramon roared. "This can't be. I'm indestructible."
"No, just insufferable.", Ricky replied as he inserted his broken Auto Saber into the back of his Vroom Blaster. "Hyper Halberd!" He pulled the trigger, causing a blade of energy to emerge from the barrel, which Ricky used to slash at the new Malgramon, before launching it as a projectile at his enemy, causing him to collapse and explode. Ricky then reverted back to his basic mode. "I guess I can't handle that power for too long."
"Ricky!" The other Rangers all ran towards him. "That Armour was awesome man.", Artie practically squeed. "Where do I get one?"
From the side, Damos saw all of this unfold. "Poor Hellivore, reduced to a carbon copy of Malgramon's thoughts and destroyed.", he pondered. "Still, I do owe you one for making me who I am." He whistled for his spider, who generated a tornado. "Winds of Reconstruction, let's give Hellivore a new lease on life!"
The Rangers watched as the new Malgramon reappeared as a giant. "I will destroy you all.", he declared as he began to March towards the heroes. "All are now pebbles beneath my feet."
"This is bad.", Ricky stated, before speaking into his communicator. "We need the Megazord."
The Racer Megazord set out for the second time that day, wheeling towards the new Malgramon, who fired balls of flame at it. "Megazord, die!", He declared as he pulled out his sword and ran towards his opponent, engaging in a sword fight with it. While the Megazord seemed to have the upper hand, knocking the new Malgramon back and delivering a mild strash to his chest, the enemy recovered quickly and evened things up once more with the next pair of hits. Then the Megazord managed to knock him over with its sword, before firing its Exhaust Cannon. But the new Malgramon charged through the blast and delivered a slash that damaged the Megazord greatly. "Darkness Break!" He generated an arc of energy that he launched at the Racer Megazord, making it throw its sword backwards. He then fired an energy web from his mouth which damaged the Megazord to the extent the cockpit exploded.
"Energy levels are decreasing.", Roland reported. "The power room's been totally destroyed." An alarm sounded inside, as the robot began to crackle with energy.
"We need to separate.", Ricky realised. "It's the only way we can survive this."
Everyone got up and returned to their individual Zord cockpits, as the transformation undid itself from all the explosions. The Convoy Zord was hardest hit, exploding upon impact with the ground. "Drew!", Ricky cried out.
"I've lost control.", Drew yelled as the Convoy Zord spun uncontrollably into a sudden stop from the damage it had sustained. Inside, the circuitry began to explode as Drew tried to repair it. "It's too hot in here. I need to get out."
Before he could, the new Malgramon approached the damaged Convoy Zord. "Goodbye, rodent.", he said calmly.
"Eject!", Drew called out as the Convoy Zord was blasted by balls of fire, damaging it further. Drew landed on the ground nearby, where everyone else soon met up with him. "I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything.", he told them.
"You did your best.", Raquel assured him. "I just wish it was worth something."
In Highway Base, Beck and Kalia had observed the entire battle. "The Megazord has been taken out of the fight.", the latter cried.
"There's no choice then.", Beck stated. "Time to take Highway Base to the surface."
As the new Malgramon continued to pursue the now de-morphed Rangers, they were interrupted by the Earth shaking. "What's this?", the new Malgramon hissed as smoke appeared, and he was forced down. Then, the ground gave way to a large structure, with a landing pad, a control tower and several cannons. Cannons which fired at the new Malgramon, buffeting him significantly.
"What is that thing?", Artie asked.
"Whatever it is, it's on our side.", Roland answered him.
As the Cannon barrage stopped, the new Malgramon launched a beam at the structure, which tanked the hit. Hydraulic hinges then pushed the upper half of the structure up by 90 degrees, causing it to resemble a robot with a red head, a yellow chest with the Ranger logo on it and more cannons on the upper and lower arms. The main cannons, now on the shoulders, rotated 45 degrees and joined the helmet and other cannons in launching blasts at the new Malgramon, causing him to collapse and perish in a ball of fire.
"Poor Hellivore.", Drew noted. "It didn't have to end like that for him. Reptillia's going to pay for this."
"We'll get round to that later.", Ricky assured him. "For now, we need to find out what that thing is."
"I see you've seen my modifications to Highway Base.", Dr. Beck's voice came over everyone's communicators. "I've been working on it since the Medievaliser incident, in case the base ever got compromised or made unable to immediately access. So,I purchased parts from the military and worked on extensive modifications while you were battling Bomas and touring the state."
"Nice to hear Doc, but what about the people?", Raquel asked. "That thing is huge. Won't somebody notice?"
"Don't worry.", Kalia assured them. "The base is covered with a shield that prevents anyone who hasn't been exposed to magical energy directly from seeing it. You can approach without any worries."
As the 5 proceeded to do exactly this, Mrs. Collins, who was passing by on the way to the police and had seen the 5 beneath her, decided to follow them. "What're you kids up to?", she thought to herself. "I'm going to find out what it is."
In the woods near the school, a ball of purple energy flew down to Reptillia's hands. "Poor Hellivore, in the end you never really were one of us. The power of Malgramon was wasted on you." She then devoured the energy as if drinking it, causing her eyes to glow and her skin to crack. "But I will put it to greater use in continuing your efforts."
