Johnny Blaze stopped his motorcycle at the gates of a black castle.
"This must be the place," he said to himself as he removed himself from his bike. He had the chain wrapped around his chest, with the shotgun on his waist. "The home of the most evil entity of this world."
He strolled up to the front gate. He raised his fist and pounded on it as hard as he could. The doors opened and he entered. He got in the middle of the first room, about as big as a great hall with a staircase at the end, when he heard a voice all around him.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" The voice was deep, but feminine.
"My name is Johnny Blaze, and I am here to put you down for good." He said this as if it was already done. The voice laughed.
"You think you will have any better luck than the millions that have come before you!? You are a truly arrogant human being."
"That's exactly why I'm here. To seek vengeance for those that have fallen to you. You may be unkillable, but like most living creatures, you have a soul I can burn."
"And how do you propose to do that?"
"Face me and find out. I will not demonstrate while I cannot see you. So if you want to meet your eternal torment, come down here and fight."
"Very well. You will not survive this." A figure appeared at the top of the stairs. Salem.
Johnny Blaze: "There you are, evil witch. Your soul is stained by the blood of the innocent," he said as he walked towards her.
Ghost Rider: "Feel their pain." He reached her. He took hold of her shoulders with his skeletal grip. He drew her in closer.
"You cannot possibly understand how futile your efforts are." The Ghost Rider was sent flying backwards. He struck the gates and continued through the air and hit the ground. He stood up and started in Salem's direction again.
"You do not understand the power of the Ghost Rider. We will send you to Hell." He struck her in the face and sent her back into her castle. She stood and put a hand to her face where the stranger had hit her. It was burned and it wasn't healing.
She hadn't felt any true pain since before the gods wiped out humanity. The Ghost Rider hit her again, and forced her back even more. She was about to stand when a red-hot flaming chain wrapped around her upper body. It burned her to the core and didn't stop.
The Ghost Rider was in front of her with the other end of the chain in hand. He laid his left palm on her forehead.
"Salem, your sins are immeasurable. Your soul is stained by the blood of countless innocents. Look into my eyes, and feel their pain." She made the mistake of listening, but the pain was unimaginable. In her delirious state, she had no choice but to obey.
When she looked into the eyes of the Ghost Rider, she saw swirling fire filled with all the pain and torment she had affiliated with her. Every single last person she had ever caused harm to. All their misery and suffering, it came to her in a split second, all at once.
A fire ripped through her soul as it burned ever so slowly. It would take millions of years for that much darkness to be purged from someone who had lived as long as her.
The Ghost Rider got on his motorcycle as he transformed back into Johnny Blaze. He rode off into the night, his job was done. Even many miles away, he could hear the tortured screams as the ultimate dark force of this world's soul was burned away into nothing.
Immortality meant nothing to the Ghost Rider, the penance stare could destroy any soul, immortal or not.
