Anything in italics indicates it is in another language like Sindarin. This is a lotr/potc crossover story. Some language will be used and there are some slightly suggestive scenes.
I try to make the dialogue fit the characters. I want you to be able to imagine the characters saying or doing things that they would do. So, for some things I may be glossing over details. For example, the chapters that have to do with Thranduil may be missing some details because he isn't featured in the books and has small appearances in the movies. Besides that I try to put details where needed, because I want these chapters to be long and I want my writing to be good. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1
Will
17th century
After the battle between man and pirate, Will and Elizabeth had had a child. When their son Henry grew, he failed to break his father's curse. William Turner, as a result, watched his son and wife die of old age. He lived through wars, he saw empires rise and fall, and he watched as each of his descendants died of age; while he stayed forever young.
After Elizabeth had died, he had had to find a new place to hide his heart. He put it in a chest and dropped it to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, where it would lay for thousands of years. Throughout the years his curse had weakened, he no longer had to stay at sea for 10 years, and no longer had to ferry the dead. He lived alone on his ship, all of his crew had died or been released decades ago.
21st century
For centuries he had tracked every one of his descendants. He had found many of them shared a likeness to Elizabeth, and strangely, some of them even looked a little like Jack. For the first time, he had interacted with one of them. Her name was Scarlet, she had brown hair and green eyes, and was an orphan. He had taken care of her since she was a teenager. When she was older she had a daughter whom she named Elizabeth. Ten years later, both she and Elizabeth were in a shooting and died. She had been the last of Will's descendants, and that had been the last time he set foot on land. That is, until he sailed straight into a whirlpool and ended up in the distant past.
Elizabeth
17th century
Elizabeth was on the Flying Dutchman in the middle of a storm. She had just witnessed Bootstrap kill Norrington, and was currently clinging to a piece of rope attached to the Pearl.
In the midst of a battle on the ship, Elizabeth and Will were married by Barbossa. William was then thrust into a battle with Davy Jones, and Elizabeth and Sparrow had to fend off the crew of the Dutchman. Suddenly, the two ships crashed into each other, Elizabeth slipped off the side of the ship, and she and Jack fell into the whirlpool. When they woke, they were in a field of poppies in a strange land.
Legolas & Aragorn
Middle Earth, 3rd age
Legolas and Aragorn were traveling through the countryside of Gondor. It was the first time they had been able to hang out since Aragorn had been crowned king and married Arwen.
"Has this day off eased your worries?" Asked Legolas
Aragorn arched an eyebrow at his friend, "And what worries would these be?"
"Perhaps the ones about ruling a kingdom, or that Arwen has chosen a mortal life."
Aragorn sighed. "I do not worry about being a good king or husband, I worry about being a good father."
Legolas didn't give away his emotions at this, he had known that Aragorn and Arwen had wanted kids. He had also been told Elrond had had a vision of their son, but he did not think it would be so soon. Still, he wanted to be able to comfort his friend. "I do not believe you have the power to be a bad father, Aragorn."
"How can you be so sure?" Asked Aragorn.
"I have seen you kill orcs, fend off the Nazgûl, fight whole armies, and inspire the hearts of men doomed to die. Fatherhood is a small feat compared to that, and besides, your son will be proud that his father had a part in defeating the dark lord."
Aragorn laughed. "Thank you for those encouraging words my friend."
Suddenly, a whirlpool opened in the middle of the Gondor Poppy fields. Legolas and Aragorn were thrown off their horses, when they recovered they went running to where the pool had appeared.
Legolas, Will, Elizabeth, Jack, Aragorn
Gondor, 3rd age
Lying on the ground were two men and a woman, dressed in strange clothing. The woman has blond hair and looked a lot like Eowyn. One of the men had tanned skin, dark brown hair, and pirate garb on. He had many tattoos on his arms, one of which was a sparrow. The other man was laying on his side so they couldn't see his face. He had long brown hair and wore the strangest clothes they had ever seen. They all carried strange weapons, the first man and woman had thin swords and others which they couldn't identify(guns). The other man had the same sort of weapons, though they seemed much older.
Elizabeth woke up with a pounding headache. She was no longer wet, strange considering she had just fallen into the sea and was already soaked from the storm. There were two men standing near her, they were blocked by the sun so she couldn't get a good look at them. Jack was asleep to her right, she shook him awake. When he asked for five more minutes, she rolled her eyes and turned to her left, where she was surprised to see Will. She went over to him and started to coax him awake.
Legolas was intrigued by the woman before him. After one of the men didn't wake she moved onto the other one. While they were unconscious Legolas and Aragorn had been sure to take all of their weapons. The first man suddenly jumped up startled. He squinted at Legolas and said, "What in hell did you do to your hair? And why do you look so much like a girl?"
Elizabeth hearing this said to him, "Jack that was very rude. Have you been drinking?" "Well maybe but that's not the point." He said. "I cannot understand why you would let William become a blonde of all things. And how did he change his hair and clothes so fast?"
"What are you talking about?" Said Elizabeth. "Will is right here, and he certainly isn't blond!" She then looked to where Jack was and stood up. She could now see the men more clearly. One of them had long brown hair like Will, though he wore royal looking clothes. It was the other one that had immediately caught her eye, as he had Will's face, but his hair was blonde, his eyes blue, and he had pointed ears. She gasped in shock.
"Who are you?" Asked the blonde. His right hand went instinctively to the sword at his hip.
Elizabeth spotted this, she knew their weapons had been taken, and these two looked like they could take them, even outnumbered. She had to be careful about what she told them until she could assess whether they were a threat. "My name is Elizabeth, that is Will, and he is Jack." She said gesturing to each of them.
Just then, Will woke up. He was very dazed and had no idea what had happened to him. When he stood up, the first people he saw were Elizabeth and Jack. He immediately ran to hug his wife, who had been dead for centuries, at least to him. Next he embraced Jack, for even though he had tried to steal Elizabeth from him(many times), he still thought of him as his best friend.
"We must be dead if William Turner is hugging me." Said Jack. "Do you think it would take death for me to hug you, my friend?" Asked Will. Jack responded, "why yes, yes I do believe it would take death. And who is this friend you speak of?" He said confused, Will chuckled. He then turned to the two men he had seen from the corner of his eye.
When Will had finished talking with Jack, he turned to Legolas and Aragorn. He immediately froze, as did Leoglas. Aragorn looked shocked, but the blonde just stared. Slowly Elizabeth walked to Will's side and said, "we have given our names, and now we ask for yours'."
"I am Leoglas Greenleaf and this is Aragorn, king of these lands. Where do you come from?" Said Legolas. He chose to ignore the lookalike across from him. He was more concerned as to why strangers with strange clothing and an excess of weaponry had come to Gondor and whether they were a threat.
"Before we tell you that, could you, perhaps inform us as to what you are?" Chimed in Jack. He was interested as to why this man looked like Will and why he had those ears.
Legolas regained his composure before answering, "I am an elf from Mirkwood. I am not an it. And I would like to know why this man shares my face." Will tensed at this, he did not want to even think of what could have possibly done this.
Aragorn spoke up, "perhaps if you come to my castle, we could contact some friends who could help us understand why this has happened. We might also be able to get you back to wherever you came from." After a long while the others agreed as long as they had their weapons returned. They all headed back to Gondor.
Will stayed close to Elizabeth, he feared if he got too far away she would disappear and he would never see her again. Jack was stumbling along, he had somehow gotten himself drunk during the battle and seemed even more drunk now. Legolas was trying to understand how someone, especially a human, could have the same face as his. He also noticed that Will shared some similar features with his mother, but he quickly turned his thoughts to other things. Aragorn was wondering how they would get three strangers through the city without being spotted. It would not help that one of them looked like Legolas, for the prince was very well known in Gondor. He was considering who they could call about it; Gandalf had last been seen near the shire, which was too far away, and it wasn't like they could just ask Galadriel for help when it could be nothing. He decided they should take them to Rivendell, Elrond could help them sort through this mess.
They arrived after sunset, which was convenient because Aragorn had no idea how he would explain this to his court. Will, Elizabeth, and Jack were given rooms with guards outside. Aragorn thought to tell Arwen about their situation, as she might know something or could at least tell him whether they should bother her father with it. When he entered their room, she was already asleep and he didn't want to wake her.
Minas Tirith, early morning
The next day they brought the pirates into a room towards the back of the castle, so as to avoid prying eyes. Even though Elizabeth was the daughter of a governor, and therefore had seen her fair share of grand properties, she still marveled at the palace. It was beautiful, it had tall ceilings with paintings depicting battles against dark forces, tall columns, and beautiful tapestries that adorned the walls. When they entered the chamber, there was a woman standing with Aragorn. He gestured to Will when he entered, she looked at him with slight awe. She said something to him in a strange language and then walked over to greet Legolas.
"It is good to see you." She said. "Though it is very strange to see a man with your face." "It is no less strange to me, I assure you." He said
She then went to greet the rest of their guests. "I am Arwen, Aragorn's wife. It is very nice to meet you all, I hope I will be able to offer you help." They were all staring at her. She emitted a faint glow from her body, she had on a long blue-silver gown, and a silver crown that sat on her long, curly brown hair. She was utterly beautiful, Will hated to admit it, but she was almost more beautiful than Elizabeth. She, too, had pointed ears like Legolas, so they assumed she was an elf as well.
The pirates explained how they had gotten to middle earth, they deduced that Will was taken from a different time than Jack and Elizabeth. He had told Elizabeth that he was the captain of the Dutchman and Jones had been killed, but he didn't tell her how long he had been captain or that he had seen her die. He thought it was better not to convey that information. After they had explained everything, they realized they were thousands of years in the past. Arwen didn't know much about their situation and recommended seeing her father in Rivendell. They gave the pirates new clothes and horses and prepared to leave immediately.
Fields of Gondor, afternoon
They were approaching Mirkwood, once they passed through the greenwood, they would pass the misty mountains and be in Rivendell. Once at the border Legolas warned the party to be vigilant, he warned them of the orcs and spiders that occupied the woods, though they didn't know what and orc was or why they should be afraid of spiders.
Mirkwood
When they entered the forest, it immediately became darker. They could feel eyes watching them, as if the shadows could sense their unwanted presence in the forest. At night it became almost impossible to see. Legolas led them to a small clearing and they started a fire. "Everyone should rest, it will be impossible for any of you to see in this darkness. I will take the first watch, we will start as soon as the sun rises tomorrow. We should be in Rivendell by the end of the week." Said Legolas.
"Are you sure the people there can help us?" Asked Elizabeth
"Lord Elrond is one of the oldest and most powerful elves in Middle Earth, if anyone would have an answer, it'd be him." Said Aragorn. They all settled down, ate a quick meal, and went to sleep.
That night Will couldn't sleep, he had the strangest feeling, almost like Déjà vu. He felt as if he had seen the forest before. He could hear a rushing river of water, children's laughter, and a woman's voice. It sounded like his mother, but lighter. He also felt something dark, he could feel the shadows moving around them, it gave him a bad feeling. When he finally thought he could get to sleep, he saw the sun rising. He wasn't tired, after all, he was immortal. He didn't need sleep, but it did help him focus, and tended to fill time.
Legolas woke everyone from their sleep, they had to use what little light they could. By mid-day, they were only a mile from the outer edges of the forest. Aragorn moved to Legolas' side. "I have had a bad feeling ever since we entered these woods, worse than the normal darkness." Legolas had had the same feeling, "I have felt it too, I feel as though we are being watched. We should be on our guard." He said.
Just as he was about to tell the others, Legolas felt someone sneaking up on him from behind. He turned and shot an arrow directly into an orc's eye. It screeched in pain and fell backwards. "Run!" Cried Aragorn. They all started running, drawing their weapons. An orc came at Aragorn from behind a tree, he drew his sword and stabbed it straight in the heart.
Will and Elizabeth had run ahead when Legolas had been attacked, they were shocked by these hideous creatures called orcs. They had large clusters of skin clumped on their face, burns, and deformities. They smelled of rot and death, absolutely repulsive. Elizabeth and Will managed to fight them off, after all, they seemed to be much the same as the ghost pirates they fought. Jack was sitting under a tree, going seemingly unnoticed by the enemy. Elizabeth had no idea how he could sleep through this, the screeching alone would have roused her.
Suddenly a horde of spiders joined the fight, surprising the party. They quickly huddled together and woke Jack. "We cannot continue to hold them all back, we are too outnumbered." Said Will. Legolas looked at his twin in agreement, he knew not even he and Aragorn could hope to defeat both orcs and spiders, and the pirates hadn't faced either before.
They stood together, surrounded by orcs and spiders, when suddenly there was a brilliant light coming from the north. The spiders screeched, "burning light, burning. Flee, flee." They abandoned the orcs and sped off into the darkest parts of the forest. The orcs yelled after them, then turned to kill the source of the light, but it was gone.
When they turned back to the party they meant to kill, a figure came down from the trees, landing directly on one of the orcs. It was a woman, dressed in brown and forest green apparel. She drew two daggers from seemingly nowhere and cut the neck of an orc running to her. She used precise movements to kill the rest with little effort. At that point the spiders had come back with more orcs at their tails. "Follow me if you wish to come out of this alive." Yelled the stranger. Legolas could tell from her voice she was an elf, probably one of his father's soldiers. She sounded strangely familiar to him, but he couldn't quite place her voice.
She led them through the trees, killing both orcs and spiders with ease. It was strange to them how experienced she was, nobody they knew, not even an elf, had the ability to fight off whole hordes without help. The pirates had just noticed that she emitted a faint glow, leading them through the darkened forest. Her glow was brighter than Legolas' and sounded as though it was singing. She led them to the edge of the forest that came to a small village on the outskirts of a kingdom. Legolas recognized the village, "why have you taken us to the mountains and not out of the forest?" He asked. They needed to get out of the forest to Rivendell. "Once you leave the forest, more orcs will be waiting to kill you, or worse. You will be safer in your father's kingdom little prince."
Legolas looked at this stranger. Nobody had ever called him 'little prince', at least, not in a long time. He made her face him and asked, "who are you?" She gave him a warm smile and pulled down her hood, looking into his blue eyes. He looked at her hesitantly. "Who are you?" He asked again. "Someone who loves you." She said, looking him straight in the eyes.
Legolas' eyes watered at the sight of his beloved aunt. "I thought you were dead, we all did." He said, a tear nearly rolling down his perfect skin. "To think I would ever leave you and your father alone in this world is foolish, nin mel." They both stared at each other a little longer before she gave Legolas a big hug. He laughed, "Aragorn, Will, Jack, Elizabeth, this is my aunt, Tara." She greeted each of them, when she turned to Will he was staring at her. Although he tried to hide it, she could tell he was shocked to see her face, maybe even a little saddened by it.
As they made their way to the woodland palace, the pirates asked Aragorn questions about the elves. He explained to them the elven culture and mused at how in awe they were. They reminded him of children seeing elves for the first time in his kingdom. Meanwhile Legolas was talking with his aunt. He was telling her of the battle against Sauron, she started laughing when he told her about his competition with Gimli. "Do elves normally laugh so much?" Asked Elizabeth. "No." Said Aragorn, "elves are normally calm and show little emotion. If you can believe it, Legolas shows the most emotion out of all the elves I've ever seen. "
"You call that emotion." Said Jack, "I've seen more emotion in rum. Ooh! Do we have any rum?" Elizabeth rolled her eyes at him. He had been sober for almost two days and she had hoped it would stick.
Just then, they came upon the huge oak doors of the elven palace. They entered the halls, they were lit with bright balls of light hanging on the walls and tall ceilings. The whole place was carved from a huge oak, under a mountain. They passed over many bridges and through many halls before coming to the guest quarters. "You will rest here tonight. I will talk to my brother and see if he can help you with your predicament. Until then, please get some sleep, I will have dinner sent to your rooms." Said Tara. She then turned to her nephew, "Legolas, come, we should inform your father he has guests." With that, she and Legolas left them in their rooms. "My room will be down that hall to the left." Said Aragorn, "If you need anything, ask me. And Will, I would advise you not to speak to the guards, I don't think it should get out that a human has the prince's face." He then went to his room. Jack went into his room to see if there was anything valuable, and to drink a bottle of rum he had magically pulled from his jacket. Elizabeth and Will went to bed, Will still felt a slight unease at being in the elven palace. He blocked out those feelings and focused on the fact that he was sharing a bed with his wife for the first time in hundreds of years.
