Mia Fey's eyes were filled with terror. She stepped back towards the windowsill and gripped it firmly, her palms turning white. Her gaze was fixated on something in front of her.

Then, a purple-haired man with a gaudy suit approached Mia. His body was illuminated by the moonlight coming from the window. The man wore a menacing grin on his face, and he was holding "The Thinker". His eyes gleamed in delight as he took in the sight in front of him.

"I'm afraid I must ask for one last thing, Ms. Fey." He spoke ominously, his voice dripping with venom. He leaned towards the lawyer, which caused her to lean against the glass.

"Your eternal silence! Farewell, Ms. Fey." He lifted the statue above his head and prepared to strike. Mia crossed her arms over her face in an attempt to defend herself.

But then…

Mia cautiously lowered her arms to see that her would-be-killer was drenched in some sort of liquid. Whatever it was, it caused his face to contort in pain as he cursed under his breath. She glanced to her right and saw that in his shock, he dropped "The Thinker" on the ground. The lawyer picked it up with great haste and held it in her hands as she carefully watched the purple-haired man.

After a few moments, Redd's facial expression turned blank. Mia held the Thinker statue close to her body, afraid that he might try to attack again. She didn't want to have to resort to drastic measures unless it were to defend her life. Much to her surprise however, Redd's teeth gritted together in anger before he whipped around.

"Who goes there?!" He barked. The only response was a low chuckle and the sound of liquid pouring. Redd squinted in an attempt to detect where the noise was coming from, but it was to no avail.

"Who are you? What is the meaning of this?" He barked again. There was a sipping noise followed by a satisfied sigh.

"The 'meaning' of this is simple: you don't mess with my Kitten." The disembodied voice retorted. Mia's eyes widened in recognition. There was only one man who referred to her by that nickname.

Shouldn't he still be asleep? While Redd was distracted, she took the opportunity to kick him in the groin. The purple-haired man keeled over as he held the area and groaned in pain, cursing the lawyer loudly and glowering at her.

"Not bad, Kitten." The figure stepped out of the darkness and was revealed to be a man with tan skin and snow-white hair. Mia's mouth fell agape in shock. It really was him!

"Diego…" She mouthed, though no sound came out. There was so much that the lawyer wanted to say to him, so much that she wanted to ask. However, there were more pressing matters at the moment. Diego shot her one of his trademark smirks before nodding towards the fallen man.

"I'll hold him down, Kitten. You go call the police. We can have our little reunion later." She nodded in affirmation before cautiously making her way to the reception area of her office.

Once she was gone, Redd got up and started stumbling after her, but he was blocked by Diego. The coffee lover's nose was scrunched up in disgust as he glowered at the purple haired man. Silently, he pulled out another cup of coffee and sipped it. Redd looked at him frustratedly.

"Get out of my way!" He demanded. Redd tried to get around him, but Diego swerved to the right, blocking him again.

"What's the rush? You're not going anywhere." Diego said in a calm voice that was bubbling with anger. Redd was taken aback by the man's words and upon regarding his expression, stumbled back in shock

"Y-you're not going to kill me, are you?" He asked, his voice quavering. Diego snorted in response and finished his coffee before responding.

"Scum like you aren't worth the effort." The coffee aficionado scoffed. Redd's eyes went wide; it was as if he were speaking a completely different language. Frightened, he balled his hand into a fist and attempted to punch him. His blow was parried however, as his fist was caught by Diego's free hand. The coffee drinker said nothing and tightened his grip on the man's fist. The two men were locked in the same position until police sirens were heard from below. Redd was panicked but Diego only stood there calmly as he polished off yet another mug of coffee.

Suddenly, the door busted open and three men stepped in. There was a scruffy man with slightly spiked up hair and a green trench coat, followed by two men in police uniforms that were wielding handcuffs. The coffee lover stood back and watched as the cops handcuffed the purple haired man. As he was being dragged out of the office, Redd protested his arrest.

"Unhand me now! Do you have any awareledge of who I am?!" His voice was filled with rage. However, his protests fell on deaf ears as the police officers lead him out of the building.

Soon after, Mia rushed back into the office. On the surface, the lawyer seemed as calm and collected as ever. But Diego could tell from the look in her eyes that she was incredibly grateful, as well as relieved. The lawyer cleared her throat before speaking

"I'm glad to see that you're alright, Diego." Mia noted, trying to sound professional. Her words were stiff, but her voice carried an underlying warmth. She proceeded to spread her arms open and smiled warmly as if inviting him in for a hug. Diego chugged down yet another mug of coffee before accepting it and the two embraced each other for what felt like hours. Mia's arms were warm and comforting, Diego had forgotten how much he missed this. Then, Diego heard the noise of sniffling.

He loosened his hold a little and looked to see that Mia was crying. Diego thought about reminding Mia of the words he imparted to her after her first trial but decided against it. Instead, he glared at nothing in particular as he thought of that awful purple haired man. That bastard, how dare he try to take her away! Internally, he seethed in anger but externally, he stroked Mia's back comfortingly.

Eventually, the sniffles stopped, and Mia gazed up at him tearfully. She was smiling and wiped a tear from her eye

"I'm grateful for what you did back there." Her voice was cracked. He smirked cockily and released one of his arms in order to polish off another cup of coffee.

"The pleasure's mine, Kitten. I only needed the help of my loyal friend, Blend No. 42, to tame that hyena." He said coolly, though his eyes were filled with warmth. The two stood there in comfortable silence before Mia adopted a look of curiosity.

"By the way, how did you know I was here?" She inquired. Diego gazed upward with a thoughtful expression.

"As soon as I got out of the hospital, I went back to my roots and asked my teacher for help. It was through their guidance that I was led here." Diego divulged. Her eyebrow quirked upwards.

"What does that mean?" Diego sipped on his coffee.

"I asked Grossberg where you were."

Suddenly, the door to the reception area creaked open. Diego's body tensed. He was prepared to defend his Kitten from any other unwanted intruders.

"Sis?" Another disembodied voice called. Though Diego didn't recognize the owner, Mia's facial features softened noticeably, and she released her embrace.

"Maya!" She exclaimed, "We're in here!" Directly after she said this, the door swung open with great ferocity and a black and purple blur sped through the office. The next thing Diego knew, the blur leapt onto Mia and wrapped their arms around her tightly. The lawyer chuckled lightly before returning the embrace. Upon closer inspection, the "blur" was a young woman with raven hair tied up into a topknot. She was also wearing a strange outfit with the same necklace Mia wore.

"Sis! I'm so happy to see you!" The young woman cried, her eyes shining with happiness and her mouth drawn into a wide grin. Mia returned the smile, though it was more subtle.

"I'm happy to see you too." She responded. Mia gently set the young woman down on her feet and turned her head to face Diego.

"This is my sister, Maya." Mia introduced. Maya released her tight hold on her sister before holding out her hand. Diego took it and they shook hands.

"It's a pleasure to meet you!" Maya said, cheerfully. Diego smiled warmly.

"It's nice to meet you too." He said. Afterwards, Maya walked over to her sister and stood next to her. Mia proceeded to drape an arm around her sister's shoulder and pull her close. Diego noticed that Mia looked much more relaxed upon Maya's arrival. In fact, it was the most relaxed he had seen her all night.

The trio stood there in peaceful silence for a few minutes. Then, the door swung open once again.

"Who is it this time?" Diego snapped.

"Hello, Chief? Are you in here?" An unknown voice replied. The figure stepped cautiously through the office. As they approached the trio, their body was illuminated by the moonlight streaming in from the window. It was a young man with oddly styled hair and a navy blue suit.

"Phoenix, you're just in time!" Mia said. Phoenix's eyes lit up as he regarded Mia and he walked up to her with a relieved smile. Phoenix caught a glimpse of Diego's form and his eyebrow quirked in confusion.

"Chief, who is this?" He inquired.

"This is Diego. He was…gone for a while, but he finally came back." Mia said with a thoughtful expression. Phoenix looked suspicious but before he could pry, her was cut off by the clapping of Maya's hands.

"Now that everyone's here, we can go out to eat right?!" Maya chirped. Mia let out an amused chuckle and shook her head.

"Not quite," She said before turning to Diego, "We're going out for dinner. Would you like to join us?" Diego slurped down another mug of coffee before responding.

"So long as they serve coffee." He stated. The four of them walked out of the office building and towards the burger joint.

Mia and Diego let the other two go ahead of them so they could have some privacy. The lawyer watched as her sister started talking to Phoenix, with a proud smile on her face. Though her protégé looked surprised by Maya's forwardness, he didn't show any sign of discomfort.

"I was hoping they'd get along." She remarked. Diego chugged down another mug of coffee.

"That sister of yours, she's certainly an energetic one." He commented. Mia chuckled in amusement.

"Yeah, she can certainly be a handful."

The two walked in silence for a few moments before Mia stopped suddenly. She turned towards him and outstretched her hand towards him. He took it, and as they got closer to the burger joint, they were still holding hands.
