Skull was flying around Xeovell on Ragnar's orders in order to search for Gustav, but so far the only thing he found were Demons and the brainwashed citizens. The citizens just stood there with dazed looks, some just wandered around aimlessly without showing even the slightest bit of emotion.
"The city is even worse than we imagined," said Skull. "So far, the only magic unable to sense is that associated with Demons or the presence of brainwashed humans."
"Keep searching, we need to find him," said Ragnar.
"I'll try, but it's like finding a new in a haystack."
Ragnar just looked in his crystal ball starting to get concerned, he wasn't even certain whether Gustav was alive.
'Where? Where are you?'
Astrid, Heather and Rudy visited Shanna, who had woken from her coma.
"So you feeling any better, Shanna?" Heather asked.
"Yes, but since my soul is held together by the forbidden spell, I don't feel anywhere near the way I felt before," she said regretfully.
"You should be grateful that you at least have your actual body," said Astrid folding her arms.
"Sorry, Astrid, I suppose in some ways I should be counting my blessings," she said and then looked at Heather. "So heavier time the Fairy King's Forest, how was it?"
"Oh, a lot of stuff happened, but it all worked out okay," Heather smiled. "Both Fishlegs and I time travelled, we went all the way back to 3,000 years ago. You won't believe it, but guess who we ran into?" She then looked directly at Astrid and Ruby. "Not only Hiccup but Ragnar as well as you Astrid."
"Somehow that doesn't really surprise me, though not sure why," said Astrid.
Heather then looked directly at Ruby. "We also ran into another Ruby who looked just like you."
Fishlegs, Eret and the twins were currently drinking in a tavern, but Fishlegs was having a tough time holding his liquor.
"You know you drink too much about me there for the party later," Eret pointed out. "Besides never known you to drink to your drop."
"It's just above or situation is just over my head," said Fishlegs. "Hiccup has been alive for 3,000 years, we met another Ruby 3,000 years ago and then there's the whole situation with Astrid."
"When you put it like that, it does sound strange," Eret admitted. "There's one good thing, experience at least Heather was able to regain her memories."
"Yeah, though she and Ragnar seem to be a thing, and one of our meet someone special," said Fishlegs.
"Hey, Astrid and Heather are not the only beautiful women around here," said Ruffnut.
Tuffnut looked around. "I don't see any beautiful women."
"I'm talking about me, dummy!" Ruffnut snapped.
"Settle down, you two," said Eret.
"By the way, how are you able to hold back the magic power during the day?" Fishlegs asked, looking at Eret curiously. "I thought that it's not something you can control."
"True, it wasn't for this brooch around my neck which Ragnar made me I would be the musclebound brute you know," said Eret and to demonstrate he removed his brooch.
Almost instantly, his muscles began to expand, tearing through his shirt and everyone in the tab and immediately backed away from him. Then after about 30 seconds, he placed the brooch back on and reverted back to normal.
"As you can imagine, I can't constantly wander around town while my magic power level increases," said Eret.
Everyone in the tavern was still somewhat shaken, it was clear to everyone that the Seven Deadly Sins were not your average Dragon Knights.
Skull was still flying around Xeovell searching for Gustav, but currently, he was having no luck.
"Ragnar, I still haven't been able to find him," said Skull. Then suddenly everything around him went dark. "It's gone dark all of a sudden."
Then suddenly standing right in front of him was Zeldris.
"Just who in the hell are you?" he asked.
Skull quickly flew away from him and then suddenly there was a bright light and seconds later he found himself outside Xeovell's walls.
"What happened?" said Skull.
At his laboratory, Ragnar's crystal ball immediately cracked, and Ragnar himself collapsed. Zeldris' certain attacker done massive damage to him and he still had no knowledge of Gustav's whereabouts.
"Damnit, Gustav, where are you?" he said.
Later that night, the Seven Deadly Sins, except Ragnar, Toothless, Ruby, Shanna and the twins the Black Dragon celebrating the reunion of their reunion.
"I wonder where Ragnar is?" said Eret noticing the absent mage.
"He's probably busy with one of his experiments," said Hiccup.
"I hope that's the case," said Heather. "But anything that one of us should check on—"
Ragnar then suddenly appeared out of thin air. "Sorry, I'm late. I'm going to make a wild guess that all of you assume that I was busy experimenting. If so, you were right."
"I'm just glad that you made it," said Ruby holding a bottle of wine. "Would you like a drink? I can pour you one."
"Yes, thank you, Princess Ruby," said Ragnar as Hiccup handed him a goblet.
"So all seven of us here at last, huh?" said Snotlout.
"And with that in mind, you think we should have another toast Sir Hiccup?" Eret asked.
"Good idea," said Hiccup as he rose to his feet and raised his tankard. "Everybody listen up, toast to another new start for the Seven Deadly Sins!"
"Cheers to that," said Heather as she lifted up a barrel of mead.
"Cheers!" everyone yelled and then began to scoff down their dreams.
"Hell yeah, time to drink like there's no tomorrow!" Snotlout cheered.
"Ragnar there's still something that's been bugging me," said Heather. "How did Gowther, the one that created Astrid's body, and the Holy War anyway?"
Astrid looked surprised. "You're saying that he was the one that ended the Holy War?"
"I can't say for certain we parted ways and he never divulges the intel," said Ragnar folding his arms.
"I was always under the impression that the Angel Race sacrifice themselves to seal away the Demon Race isn't that right?" said Eret.
"Maybe he was the one that built the Coffin of Eternal Darkness," Astrid offered.
"No, I was the one who created, though admittedly reluctantly," said Hiccup.
"I guess we'll never know," said Fishlegs.
Ruby just stood there in silence, whatever had told this morning still troubled her.
'I wonder, why can't I get what Heather said out of my mind? 3,000 years ago, a Ruby that looked exactly like me was with Hiccup? Wait, didn't Lady Astrid mentioned her? Could it really be a coincidence, a woman other than the Ruby I was told about who was with Hiccup and looks just like me?'
"You seem to be thinking rather deeply, something on your mind?" Hiccup asked, napping her out of her thoughts.
Ruby looked at him seriously. "There's something I want to talk about later when we're alone."
"Okay," said Hiccup looking deeply troubled.
Ruby then ran off. "I'll bring some more wine."
Toothless looked at Hiccup. "What was that about?"
Ragnar then rose to his feet. "I'm a little tipsy, I think I'm gonna call it a night."
"Oh, come on, both you and Hiccup can drink anyone under the table and your toast after a few sips?" said Snotlout looking little drunk himself. "What a big load of crap."
Ragnar chuckled. "Always the annoying drunk, aren't you?"
"Yeah, maybe you should drink less," Ruffnut agreed.
"Instead of failing to drink everyone under the table," said Tuffnut.
Ragnar then looked at them seriously. "I do hope that you haven't forgotten, we're not done. We still have defeated all the Ten Commandments. There is still Zeldris' of Piety, provoke him and he will bring you down that's for certain."
"The one who wields the magic power led to him by the Demon King," said Heather remembering her own experience with them. "He's the Demon King's Representative, so he says."
"That can't be good," said Eret.
"For real?" said Snotlout. "Then that would make him the ultimate Demon, huh?"
Hiccup then clapped his hands together, getting everyone's attention. "We have to focus on our goals for now. We've got to say the people of Berk because they are under a demonic spell and all those Dragon Knights too. Then we have to liberate Xeovell, the fighting can wait until later."
"He's absolutely right about this," said Ragnar. "First, we need to come up with a plan and then meticulously carry out that strategy as a team. That's all I have to say about it."
Ragnar then left.
"Of course," said Eret. "Good night, Sir Ragnar."
"Good night," he said.
Hiccup, however, was looking at him suspiciously and had a feeling that something was wrong with Ragnar.
"Come on, the night is still young. Let's do this!" Snotlout cheered.
While everyone was, partying Ragnar made his way to his room, and he practically collapsed the moment he opened the door. He would have hit the floor if Hiccup and appears and grabbed his waist.
"Zeldris did a number on you, huh?" said Hiccup as he helped him to the bed. "While you are focusing on your search, he caught you off guard didn't? That's not like you."
"What are you talking about?" said Ragnar as he laid down on the bed.
"You and I go back longer than anyone else, except maybe Astrid, I can see right through you," said Hiccup. "And everything you're doing now, it's not to rescue the people of this kingdom or to liberate Xeovell, it's not even to help defeat Zeldris. It's all to protect Gustav, there's no doubt about it."
Ragnar looked at him. "Please try to understand, I can't afford to lose him. As far as I'm concerned young Gustav is hope itself."
The next morning, Hiccup met up with Ruby on a mountain range that overlooks the city.
"We used to come here, you remember that?" Hiccup asked.
"Yes," Ruby nodded. "Listen, Hiccup… when Sir Zaratras cast their spell on me I told you that I saw both of us from 16 years ago, right? That's the same time that other Ruby Astrid mentioned passed away, such a strange coincidence."
"I wouldn't be too concerned she didn't exactly act like—"
"Astrid said that our looks and voices were identical," Ruby continued.
"Uh, just another coincidence."
"I heard that Heather and Fishlegs had the same kind of experience during their training. They saw you a girl named Ruby, who was also the spitting image of me. Is that a coincidence too? I know what you're thinking that the whole situation is too strange to be true, but even still there is one part of it that is true then maybe—"
"Come on, I think it is a little tired that's all," said Hiccup Ruby noticed that his face was darkening.
"Wait, just hear me out. The Demon Race sealed 3000 years ago, the very first time they saw me they mistook me for someone in their past. Hiccup, if you know something I want you to tell me, I am ready to accept everything I here all right. I promise."
Hiccup looked into her eyes and saw that she was sincere, but he merely waved it off.
"What do you think I know, because nothing you said rings a bell at all?" he said casually.
Ruby could tell he was lying, but she wasn't sure why. "I'm sorry I asked, and you're right, it's a ridiculous story. I'll be heading back to the inn now." She began to walk off but stopped to look at him one last time. "Just so you know, I trust you more than anyone else in the whole world okay."
Hiccup just watched as she walked away knowing that she was ready to accept the truth. "But I'm not."
Ruby return to the Black Dragon and found Alvin waiting for her there.
"Princess Ruby! It's Sir Ragnar!" he yelled.
Alvin escorted Ruby to Ragnar's bed where Eret was watching over him, and he appeared to be in some kind of pain. Ruby placed a hand on his forehead and could feel his territory was relatively high.
"He's burning up," she said.
"Whatever it is, beyond my capabilities," said Alvin.
"Then I'll do my best."
Ruby's hand and immediately began to glow, and she began to heal Ragnar, and it appeared to be having some kind of effect.
"The Princess is this kind of power?" said Eret.
"Yes, and it's quite remarkable," Alvin nodded. "It's close to that of the power of the Druids, but not the same. Like something out of a fairytale."
Ruby found herself in nothingness, there was no light, no nothing.
"It's so dark, like a pitch-black sea," she said. "This power…"
She then heard a faint laugh in the darkness. "Now there's an unexpected guest."
Ruby's eyes widened as standing before her was Zeldris. "You're one of the Ten Commandments!"
"I was wondering which one of you would dead interfere with my magic power, it has been awhile Ruby."
"How do you know me?"
"You're so pathetic," Zeldris sneered.
"What you mean?"
Zeldris glared at her. "Meliodas is still shackled to the cursed angel, you're tormenting my older brother. And of course, Hiccup is the warden."
"I don't understand, who's Meliodas? And how do you know Hiccup? And I may angel?"
"It's been going on for 3000 years, you lose the memories of your previous life each time you die, and with each resurrection, you meet Hiccup repeatedly more times than I care to count. My brother can do nothing more than just watch from Hiccup's perspective."
Ruby's eyes widened. "Did you say resurrected? Then the woman who was with Hiccup 3000 years ago…"
"Yes, it was you," Zeldris nodded.
However, instead of being shocked, Ruby actually looked happy.
"Wait, are you actually happy about this?" Zeldris asked.
"It's like a dream, and it turns out the very thing that I've been hoping for is actually true. All this time I was there, have always been with Hiccup. I'm so happy to—"
"What do you keep making him suffer?" said Zeldris giving her a dark look.
"Would never do such a thing," said Ruby, confused. "What do you mean?" Suddenly her body began to glow, though she appeared not to have noticed. "Hiccup is always near me right by my side every step. I want to remember it, all the moments that I've spent with him. All his thoughts and secrets, everything that he told me."
"I see… well then remember everything!" Ruby then suddenly felt herself being pushed back. "And when you do, you know your horrific sins you've committed!"
At the tavern, there was a bright light that shone through every single window, and then Ragnar's eyes opened.
"What happened?" said Hiccup as he and the others rushed inside.
Ragnar then began to explain everything that happened.
"Somehow I was careless enough to be held captive by Zeldris' magic power," Ragnar explained. "It Princess Ruby hadn't intervened and broke the spell I'd be lost. Thank you for saving me."
"She did all that?" said Hiccup looking up at her. "Ruby, are you all right?"
"I'm fine, I guess I'm just a little tired," she said and left.
"You sure?" Hiccup asked.
"I want to be alone and get some air," she said and closed the door behind her.
"That's not like," said Fishlegs looking at Hiccup. "What did you do Hiccup?"
Hiccup wasn't certain, but he had a bad feeling in his gut.
Ruby was on the balcony when Toothless landed.
"I heard a commotion and went to check it out," he said and noticed that Ruby was crying. "What's wrong, Ruby? Do you have a headache?"
"No, no, it's nothing like that," she said with tears in her eyes. "It's just… that I'm happy."
Everyone was now prepared, and they started to make their way down south towards Xeovell, every Dragon Knight was waving them goodbye and wishing them good luck. They weren't the only ones that were leaving as Princess Sapphire set out on her own journey with Alvin and Calder.
Ruby began to tell the conversation she had with Hiccup to the girls in Shanna's bedroom.
"I'm the reincarnation of the Ruby from 3000 years ago," said Ruby.
"You've already talked about this with Hiccup, right?" Heather asked.
"Yes, but he tried to laugh it off."
"Then maybe there's a reason that he doesn't want you to remember," Shanna suggested and then she looked at Astrid. "Surely you must know Astrid."
Astrid looked at them. "It's not my place to say."
"Well, I say that she needs to remember," said Heather and smiled at Ruby. "You have to remember no matter what, I'll be behind you all the way for this all right?"
Hiccup and Snotlout were outside both wearing the armour.
"So Hiccup… I've got a question," said Snotlout. "Do you think it will be all right if I sit this next mission out?"
"Yeah, no problem," said Hiccup.
Snotlout was taken aback and stared at him blankly. "More than likely it's Melascula who's creating a distortion in the dimension. But if we take her out…"
"Shanna won't be able to survive that," Snotlout finished clenching his fist. "Even if we aren't able to take Melascula out… there's no more time, and I want to be there in her final moments."
Hiccup sighed. "Look I know how you're feeling."
"Oh yeah, do you really?" Snotlout snapped. "Do you know how it feels to watch someone you care about died twice?"
Hiccup just remained in silence.
Toothless then popped his head out of the hatch. "Hiccup, there's trouble!"
Hiccup and Snotlout rushed downstairs and found Heather trying to restrain a frantic Ruby.
"Let go of me, Heather!" Ruby yelled.
"What's gotten into you?" said Heather.
"I have to tell them right away!"
"What's going on?" Eret asked, looking at Astrid and Ragnar confused.
Astrid and Ragnar just stood in silence.
"What's happening?" Hiccup asked.
"Oh, Hiccup," said Ruby looking up at him. "I was told by the Order Barzard is in critical condition!"
Hiccup's eyes widened. "No way did you…?"
"Let me take a look at you," said Ragnar as he stepped forward. "Princess Ruby, you know who I am right now?"
"It's been a long time Ragnar," he said, smiling. "My have you grown, I almost didn't recognise you."
"What the?" Heather frowned releasing Ruby.
"Ruby, look at me," said Hiccup.
Toothless stared at her. "What's with your eyes?"
Everyone noticed that Ruby's eyes were now gold, and then she collapsed.
Without hesitation, the Sins and the twins took Ruby to her bed where she appeared to be in some kind of coma.
"Is she okay?" Heather asked.
"Do you to know what's going on?" Snotlout asked, looking at Astrid and Ragnar.
"This has to be Zeldris' doing," Ragnar concluded. "A side-effect of her breaking the spell, he had me under."
"Wait, are you saying Ruby is under that spell now?" Heather asked.
"No," said Hiccup with a grim look. "It's not a spell, Ruby is starting to regain her memories."
"What do you mean?" Heather frowned. "Do you mean of the life that she used to have? That's wonderful."
"Wait, what?" Fishlegs frowned. "I don't get it."
"I'm about to blow your mind, Ruby here has been reincarnated over and over for 3000 years."
"What? No way!"
"She was just telling me how much he wanted to regain those memories, I'm so happy for her."
"You need to watch what you say, Heather!" Astrid snapped furiously.
Heather looked confused. "What's the matter? Isn't it a good thing that her memories are coming back?"
Hiccup sighed. "That's because you don't know the full story. It won't take long for the rest of those memories to come back to her when she regains them all, in three days she will die."
