Chapter 2 Thrill of the Hunt

It had been a few weeks since David Xanatos was taken to jail and Elisa and Elizabeth had been going to every court hearing and Elizabeth testified against her brother. She ignorned the pain on his face when she testified. He made his lawyer not question her. It would make her reveal about the Gargoyles and she swore that she would protect the Gargoyles with her life. It was even harder explaining to their father why he was going to jail, but she was always a daddies little girl so he listened.

With the Gargoyles, she had finally started earning all their trust. The Trio had always took a liking to her. Her and Brooklyn were getting close more closer then the others, but Elizabeth thought it was just friends.

"Hi Elisa." Elizabeth said, greeting her friend at the elevator.

"Hi Elizabeth. I'm surprised your brother is letting me come and you stay at the castle." Elisa said as they head toward the tower where the Gargoyles were.

"I don't think he wants to loose me as a sister and he knows I will let you come either way." Elizabeth said.

"So wants to stay on good terms." Elisa said as they climbed the steps to the tower.

"Pretty much." Elizabeth said with a grin. Elisa smiled. The girls were back to being good friends now they reconnected with knowing of the Gargoyles. They come out to the top of the tower where the Gargoyles stood, frozen in stone. Elizabeth grinned as the sun set over the horizon and the stone started to crack. The Gargoyles burst from their stone slumber, roaring. Goliath jumped off his perch as Elizabeth walked up to Brooklyn.

"Elisa, Elizabeth. What a pleasant sight to greet us as we awaken." Goliath said. Elizabeth shoots Goliath a smile.

"Well, it's a slow night and I was in the neighborhood." Elisa said.

"Let's go get dinner." Elizabeth said to the trio.

"Good to see you again, lass." Hudson said, as he heads for the stairs.

"Catch you later." Brooklyn said as he picked up Elizabeth and jumped off the ledge. The trio flew down to the courtyard and they head into the castle to get dinner.

"I wonder if the Pack is gonna be on TV again." Lexington said as they ate the food that the cooks made them.

"Probably." Elizabeth said.

"Didn't you say you know one of the Pack members?" Broadway asked.

"Yes. I know Fox. She and my brother had a fling and we always got along." Elizabeth said. The gargoyles sat in silence as they ate.

"So how did your brothers trial go?" Lexington asked.

"Well he was sentenced to six months in jail." Elizabeth said.

"Six months that's not long." Brooklyn said.

"No and I worry with you being here. You guys need to find a new home." Elizabeth said.

"We don't go unless Goliath says. This is our home." Broadway said. Elizabeth knew there will take time to convince them.

"Will you come with us if we do move?" Brooklyn asked.

"I think I will. I don't want to loose my friendship with you guys." Elizabeth said, earning a smile from the trio.

"Let's go see if the Pack is on." Lexington said, jumping up as they finish their food. The four head towards the room that the tv was in. They opened the door to find Hudson flipping through the channels, but the Pack was on every channel. "Hey! It's the pack!"

"Cool!" Brooklyn said with a grin. The trio jump in front of the TV. Elizabeth laughed as Hudson dropped the remote.

"Something's wrong. It's on all the channels again." Hudson grumbled.

"It is a popular show." Elizabeth said, sitting on the arm of the chair since the trio and Bronx filled up the floor.

"I thought you liked this, show Hudson." Brooklyn said.

"Aye, I do, but not every night." Hudson said. They watched as the Pack fought off the evil ninjas. The trio sat glued to the tv as Hudson sighed and watched with the four. Bronx came over and laid his head in Elizabeth's lap. She smiled and scratched behind his ear.

"See the pack in person, tonight." Elizabeth looked up as the announcer made an announcement. "At Madison Square Garden. Fox, Wolf, Dingo, Hyena, and Jackal." The Tv flashed to the people as they were called.

"Wow. These guys are great. They're warriors just like us." Lexington said.

"Don't believe everything you see on TV, Lexington." Elizabeth said.

"Your favorite heroes in a rare public appearance in Madison Square Gardens." The anoucer said.

"Liz, where is Madison Square Gardens." Brooklyn said.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me Liz." Elizabeth said, with a roll of her eyes.

"Please can you show us where to go?" Broadway asked.

"Please." Lexington said.

"Oh alright." Elizabeth said, earning cheers from the Trio making Elizabeth smile. "Let's go now so we can make it." The trio run out of the room. She turns to Hudson and sees the tv is back to normal. "Looks like you can have your shows back."

"Thanks lass. Go have fun with the boys and stay out of trouble." Hudson said.

"Come on Liz." Brooklyn called, making Elizabeth groan and turn to go after the Trio. Brooklyn scooped her up and took off with the other two following. It was a warm night and Elizabeth smiled as she kept her arms wrapped around Brooklyn's neck. She knew where to go as she told Brooklyn where to go. They flew over people that were outside. It was packed inside as the trio flew through the rafters. They land on one that was in good view of the stage and Brooklyn set Elizabeth down on the rafter. Elizabeth sat down in between Brooklyn and Lexington. Talks filled the auditorium as the gargoyles and Elizabeth sat.

"Isn't it time for the show to start?" Lexington said, impatiently.

"Relax it'll happen." Brooklyn said.

"Patience Lexington. They are waiting for people to show up then they will start." Elizabeth said.

"I want to see them now." Lexington said, crossing his arms. Elizabeth and Brooklyn shook their heads at their friend.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Please welcome the Pack!" The announcer said. The pack came onto the stage and the crowd erupted into cheers and whistles. The tiro joined in and Elizabeth sat back and watched. The crowd chanted the pack as the five member posed for the crowd. Elizabeth saw that Fox hadn't changed since she last saw her a few years ago. Ninjas jumped down and landed behind the pack."Oh no! Its the the evil ninjas." The pack starts fighting them taking them out one by one.

"Hmm. Not bad in person." Elizabeth said, grinning as she watched. Fox had called her to have her join the Pack, but she refused because she was in college and was protecting the gargoyles.

"The Ninjas don't fight with honor, like the Pack does." The announcer said. Dingo, Wolf, and Jackal fought together to take down a few of the ninjas. "Teamwork is the key!"

"These guys are alright." Brooklyn said.

"Yeah. Wouldn't it be great to meet 'em?" Lexington asked. Elizabeth shook her head at the two. Audience continued to chant Pack as the ninjas were defeated. Brooklyn stands and stretches letting out a yawn.

"Well shows over and I'm starved. Let's go." Broadway said. Elizabeth stood up with Brooklyn's help.

"You coming, Lex?" Brooklyn asked.

"Uh. Later. You guys go ahead." Lexington said. Brooklyn picked Elizabeth off and they flew off, leaving Lexington. Brooklyn and Broadway flew towards their favorite Chinease Restraunt. Elizabeth went in and got all their food. She paid for her food and went out to find Brooklyn waiting for her. She got on his back and he climbed the wall till they reached the roof and sat down and Elizabeth handed out the food.

"I wonder why Lexington stayed back." Elizabeth said.

"Probably to meet with the pack." Broadway said.

"I hope he doesn't get hurt. The Pack are known missionaries. I did some reserch on them. Fox wanted me to join." Elizabeth said.

"Why didn't you?" Brooklyn asked.

"Busy with college and making sure you guys stay out of trouble. Plus I didn't want to be famous on some TV show." Elizabeth said. The two nodded.

"Looks like he won't be joining us for dinner tonight." Brooklyn grumbled.

"Well I'll put his food in the fridge so he can eat later." Elizabeth said. They stood and Brooklyn scooped her up and they flew off towards the castle. Goliath and Hudson were waiting for them. It was almost done. They landed and Brooklyn set Elizabeth down. The friends talked as they waited for Lexington.

"Almost dawn and he's still not back." Goliath said.

"He always cuts it too close." Hudson said.

"I'm sure he's fine." Elizabeth said. Lexington was flying towards them. "See." The Gargoyles turn as Lexington lands in front of them.

"There you are." Broadway said.

"Where were you?" Goliath asked.

"I made us some new allies." Lexington said.

"Wait what?" Elizabeth asked.

"You don't mean the Pack." Brooklyn said.

"I sure do. They're just like us. They defend the innocent and they do it on television." Lexington said. Elizabeth felt like her heart stop at his words. She had a bad feeling.

"You let them see you?" Goliath growled.

"Uh, yes. I did and why not? You made friends with Elisa and Elizabeth here is our friend as well." Lexington said.

"That was different." Goliath said.

"This arguement will have to wait for nightfall, lads." Hudson said as him, Brooklyn, Broadway, and Bronx jump on their spots. Goliath pointed at Lexinton as the sun rose.

"This isn't over." Goliath said and the sun froze them to stone facing each other.

"That's one way to end a conversation." Elizabeth said as she headed to the kitchen to put Lexington's food away. Owen had been avoiding her ever since she helped Elisa put her brother in jail. Elizabeth headed to her room and went on her laptop. She wondered if the Pack had some ajenda. She worried for Lexington showing himself to them. Elizabeth yawned and laid down and fell asleep. The next night. She walked out as soon as the gargoyles burst from their stone.

"You bet it isn't." Lexington yelled.

"Looks like its not over." Elizabeth said, rubbing her temple. "Why are Elisa and Elizabeth different? These guys are defenders of the realm, just like Elisa and Elizabeth can hold herself in a fight."

"He may be right, Goliath. I've seen them on the picture box. They are constantly attacked by these evil ninjas. Maybe they could use our help." Hudson said.

"Look, its not like I revealed all our secrets. I'm not that stupid. Elizabeth knows their leader." Lexington.

"She use to date my brother and we were friends, but we haven't spoken in a few years." Elizabeth said. Goliath let out a sigh.

"They don't know we turn to stone by day, they don't even know where we live." Lexington said. Brooklyn and Elizabeth share looks as Elizabeth stood with her arms crossed. "Look, will you please meet them before you judge them?" Lexington said.

"I think if anyone would understand us, they would." Brooklyn said.

"We can't hide from the whole world up here! They are kindred spirits out there for us, but we've gotta look for them. And we've gotta give them a chance or else we'll always be alone." Lexington said. Goliath sighed as he thought it over.

"Alright. Take me to meet them." Goliath said. Lexington jumped with excitement. "If it's safe. We'll arrange introductions for the rest of you." Goliath and Lexington jumped off the tower. Elizabeth sighed.

"I got a bad feeling about this." Elizabeth said.

"Why? The Pack are just like us." Brooklyn said.

"They were missionaries in the past, plus the show is pretend and they are only actors. They don't actually fight bad guys." Elizabeth said.

"So they arne't real?" Broadway asked.

"No and I got a feeling that something about this meeting isn't right." Elizabeth said.

"If they aren't back shortly. You and I will go find them." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth nodded, but she wondered if that was enough time. Elizabeth nodded in agreement.

The hour seemed to drag as the Gargoyles and Elizabeth waited. Elizabeth couldn't sit still as she got up from her seat as the Gargoyles watch tv and stepped outside. They weren't back yet.

"Liz." Brooklyn said coming out.

"I'm ready to go now." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn nodded.

"Let's go. I already told Hudson we were going." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth smiled as he picked her up. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he jumped on the edge and took off to the sky. She told Brooklyn where to go. Explosions, tearing metal, and roars came from the Pack Media Studios.

"I knew it. They were lead into a trap." Elizabeth said.

"There." Brooklyn said seeing Goliath and Lexington get on the roof of the Pack Studio and take off. Brooklyn follows them and sees them land on another roof.

"Goliath. Lexington." Elizabeth called. The two turned and Brooklyn quickly lands in front of them, setting Elizabeth down.

"What are you doing here?" Goliath asked.

"Seeing if you two are alright and confirm my suspisions." Elizabeth said. Brooklyn looked around.

"No sign of them." Brooklyn said.

"I can't believe it! They attacked us." Lexington said.

"They aren't heroes. They are actors." Elizabeth said.

"I think they planned to attack us from the moment they met you." Goliath said.

"But why? We're not their enemies." Lexington siad.

"They're no more than animals." Elizabeth said.

"Worse than that. An animal hunts because its hungry. These hunters do it for sport." Goliath said.

"I'm never trusting anyone again!" Lexington said. A sound like something through the air was heading their way. Elizabeth sees a boomerang flying their way and lands in front of them. Brooklyn grabs Elizabeth and shields her with his wings. Lexington is sent flying.

"Lexington!" Goliath calls. Brooklyn scoops up Elizabeth as Dingo sends a lasso at Goliath and it wraps around him. Goliath easily breaks from it as he grabs Lexington and they run to the edge of the building.

"I'm alright." Lexington said, breaking out of Goliath's grasp. The three jump off the roof with Brooklyn holding Elizabeth as they flew off. Elizabeth gasped as they neared electrical and see Jackal send knives flying and cuts the wires. The wires hit the gargoyles and shock them. Elizabeth gritted her teeth as Brooklyn kept a good hold on her as he reached out and grabbed a building. Goliath did the same as he grabbed Lexington and tossed him on the wall.

"Hold onto me." Brooklyn said. Elizabeth kept her arms around his neck as Brooklyn climbed the building with Goliath and Lexington and got up on the edge. Elizabeth let go of Brooklyn as they started walking foward, but keeping on guard. Hyena's laugh came and an explosion came sending them flying off the building. Elizabeth hit the ground and groaned as the gargoyles land next to her. She sat up and saw the Pack slowly aproaching.

"Guys. Get up!" Elizabeth said, going to shake them as the Pack approached. Elizabeth looked as Fox came close.

"Fox. Please." Elizabeth said.

"Isn't she the Xanatos girl you were telling us of?" Jackal asked.

"Yes I think it is." Wolf said.

"Leave her. She's none of our concern." Fox said.

"I won't let you touch them." Elizabeth said, putting her hand on her gun but small voices stopped her.

"Hey look it's the pack!" A child's voice came, making the Pack turn to see a girl and a boy come running over to them. Elizabeth took her hand off her gun and turned to Brooklyn as the kids asked for autographs, photos, and tickets.

"Come on. Wake up." Elizabeth whispered.

"Wonderful. Our adoring public." Fox said, in annoyance.

"Perfect timing." Hyena said. Lexington and Goliath groaned and Brooklyn's eyes opened and groaned.

"Brooklyn." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyles stood up and Elizabeth followed.

"What are those things?" The boy asked.

"Susan, Billy. Come away from there." The mom said.

"They're shooting a movie or something. You'll get in their way." The father said. Wolf goes running towards the kids.

"Get back. These are dangerous monsters sent by the evil ninjas." Wolf said. He grabbed the kids and brought them over to their paren'ts.

"For heaven's sake." Elizabeth said, rubbing her temple.

"We'll protect you." Wolf said, turning towards the Gargoyles. Wolf ran and attacked Goliath. Jackal and Dingo took on Brooklyn and Lexington and Elizabeth was circling with Fox and Hyena.

"Should of joined us Elizabeth." Fox said with a smirk.

"Well glad I didn't. I didn't want to be freaks like you." Elizabeth said. Hyena ran at her and Elizabeth tripped her sending her flying into the ground. Elizabeth and Fox fought fist to fist.

"Remember whose the better fighter, Elizabeth." Fox said.

"I could always hold my ground with you." Elizabeth said, punching Fox in the stomach, making her grunt. The kids started throwing cans at the gargoyles trying to help the Pack.

"Stop it." Lexington yelled turning and growling at the kids.

"Ahh." The kids ran.

"Its just a publicity stunt or something. Come on." The dad said. Elizabeth saw the parents lead the kids away.

"It looks awfully real." The mother said. Fox saw the street clear.

"Now while the streets deserted. Finish them off!" Fox said. Wolf punched Goliath sending him flying. Brooklyn was sent flying into a wall.

"Brooklyn!" Elizabeth ran to help him as Jackal and Hyena ran to Goliath and he breaks a hydrant sending water flying at them and they were hit. Lexington, Brooklyn and Elizabeth run to Goliath and Elizabeth notice the fire escape.

"This way." Elizabeth said, pointing. They ran and Elizabeth started climbing first with the Gargoyles behind her.

"Take them down!" Fox said. Elizabeth heard another Boomerang flying their way. Brooklyn tossed her up to the next level of the fireescpae as another explosion came and Elizabeth turned to see the Gargoyles were alright.

"Keep going!" Goliath called. Elizabeth climbed till she got to the roof and the others joined her. Gargoyles were on the roof.

"Split up." Goliath said. Elizabeth ran down one way and hid behind a gargoyle as the gargoyles pretend to be statues. Elizabeth heard Dingo yell and she peaks out and gasps as a statue explodes. The Pack runs down the way looking for them. Hyena came near ELizabeth. Elizabeth jumps and tackles her.

"What?" Hyena asked as Elizabeth pulls back and punches Hyena hard, knocking her out. She grabs one of Hyena's metal gloves.

"Wait where's Hyena?" Jackal asked. Elizabeth sent the metal hand rowing out and slips back behind a statue, smirking as she saw the Pack get into fighting stances back to back. Dingo went to investigate some movement and Lexington swooped in and grabbed Dingo tossing him over the wall. Brooklyn landed in front of Elizabeth and he grinned at her. She smiled.

"I'm out of here." Jackal said, making a run for it.

"No. We can take them." Jackal said.

"Forget it. This wasn't in my contract." Jackal said.

"Looks like he's not that brave." Elizabeth said, earning a nod from Brooklyn.

"Jackal, No!" Fox yelled. Jackal rounds a corner and Goliath grabs him and knocks him out.

"Two more to go." Brooklyn said. Fox and Wolf go running. Brooklyn and Elizabeth landed in front of them.

"Going somewhere." Elizabeth said as Goliath crashed through the wall. He grabbed Fox and Wolf and shoved them into an adjacent wall. The wall crumbled and caused the Pack members and Goliath go crashing into the building and into a middle of a model shoot. Elizabeth jumps through followed by Brooklyn. Elizabeth runs to help the models up as they screamed at the sight of the Gargoyles and Pack. The Models go running for the door. Elizabeth goes to help one last one up and Fox grabs Elizabeth and presses a gun to her friends head.

"Really?!" Elizabeth said, anger in her voice.

"Relax and I might let you live through this." Fox said. Brooklyn was helping Goliath to his feet when he turned. His eyes turned white.

"Elizabeth!" Brooklyn said. Elizabeth saw that the guy taking photos was getting pictures of what was happening as Fox held the gun to Elizabeth's head. Fox and Wolf started heading to the door as Fox held Elizabeth's arm pulling her with as she pointed a gun at Goliath and Brooklyn. Brooklyn growled as they approached the three with caution trying not to get Elizabeth hurt as they stepped out on the street. Elizabeth stomped hard on Fox's foot and elbowed her hard in the stomach. Lexington roared as he approached and tackled Fox to the ground. Wolf pulls Lexington off Fox, who was now knocked out and turned to Goliath. Goliath got in a fighting stance and Wolf tossed Lexington aside.

"Finally. Some real action." Wolf said. Wolf runs and nearly knocks Goliath off his feet. Goliath throws Wolf off and Wolf comes back and tries to punch, but Goliath grabs his hand and squeezes it. Wolf looks shocked. Goliath throws Wolf into a wall. Wolf hits his head and is knocked out. Elizabeth sighs in relief.

"You alright?" Brooklyn asked.

"I'm fine. Fox didn't hurt me." Elizabeth said as Police sirens were heard.

"The Police are coming." Lexington said.

"Go. I am a witness. They are gonna want answers." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyles nod and start climbing the wall. Elizabeth turned as the Police show up. Elizabeth explained what happened and the Photographer was able to give the evidence to back her up. Elizabeth smirked as she watched the whole pack got arrested and took a taxi to head home. Elizabeth went up to the tower where the Gargoyles were standing talking.

"The Pack has been arrested. With my account of what happened and the photographers photos. They had enough evidence to put them behind bars." Elizabeth said. The Gargoyles smile.

"I thought they were the good guys. Maybe we shouldn't believe everything we see on television." Hudson said.

"There are good people out there. You just need to know where to look." Elizabeth said.

"Yes." Goliath said. The Gargoyles jumped on their perches as the sun rose and they turned to stone. Elizabeth turned and headed down the steps to go to bed.

At the jail. Owen sat talking to David Xanatos.

"Everything was done as you stipulated, sir. The cable TV was adjusted so that the only program the Gargoyles could see was the Packs. Elizabeth has no idea that the Pack was your creation though I wasn't surprised she turned them down on the offer to join. The Pack received the mysterious envelope of photographs and reacted just as you predicted. A pity nothing else happened according to plan." Owen said.

"Oh, I wouldn't say that, Owen. Though they didn't know it was me and my sister is out of the loop about it, I created the Pack to be more than just a TV show. I had to see how good they were and having underestimated Goliath once before. I needed to know what he was capable of as well. All in all, I'd say the test was most informative." David said. Owen nodded and left.

AN: Happy Holidays. New chapter up. I'm liking how things are turning out so far. Till next time.
