"Get her home, I'm going to go help out over at Harry's place." I heard Sam tell Jacob as I laid in his arms, frozen from the freezing cold water I'd just jumped into.
"What happened over at Harry's?" I asked him, worried, because I knew Charlie had been out with Harry hunting the wolves.
"Harry Clearwater had a heart attack. Charlie and my dad are over at his place with his family." Jake told me with a sad look in his eyes. I knew it wasn't good.
"Is he okay?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"He's gone." Jake muttered. "Come on, I'll give you something dry and drive you home." I looked at him for a moment as he helped me to my feet. I couldn't just leave Charlie to deal with the loss of his best friend like that.
"No." I told Jake. "I want to go help, too. You said Charlie was there, I need to be there for him and for Harry's family, as well. I can't do much, but I can at least cook them a hot meal so that Sue doesn't have to try and feed all of them."
He looked at me oddly for a moment then nodded. "You still need dry clothes first, you're going to freeze to death if you stay like this."
I didn't say anything else as we walked to Jake's, which wasn't very far away. He gave me some old sweats that he said were maybe from when he was twelve and then drove me in my own truck to the Clearwater's house.
"Bella, before you go in there, I have to tell you that we have two new pack members. Seth and Leah both phased when they found out about Harry." I looked at him with wide eyes. "Trust me, it was a huge shock for all of us. We had figured on Seth, but Leah was another story… and Seth is only 15."
"You're only 16, what does that matter?" I asked him. "You're all too young to be put in this position, as protectors of the tribe. And just after losing their dad… they must be a mess." I worried about how the two would be coping. I knew Leah was about my age if not a little older, but she was the only female wolf. And poor Seth would now be the youngest in the pack.
"Leave it up to Bells to always worry about everyone else." Jake muttered as he opened up the door to my truck to let me out. "Don't get too close to the new pups, they aren't house trained yet." He told me and I knew what he meant. I nodded and we both walked inside.
I immediately saw Charlie, talking to Billy about something in the kitchen. When he looked up at me, my heart broke for my dad, seeing him with tears in his eyes at the loss of one of his best friends.
"Hey, Bells. What are you doing here?" He asked as I walked up to him and Billy.
"Jake told me what happened, and I wanted to come help. I figured I could cook something…" I said, scratching my arm absentmindedly as I looked down.
"That's good of ya, Bells. What happened to you? You look like you're wearing someone else's clothes and your hair is soaking wet." I looked at Jake with a panic. I couldn't tell Charlie about the cliff.
"I- uh…. Well—"
"She tripped and fell into some mud out my back yard, so I let her shower off and borrow some of my old clothes before we came over, Charlie." Jacob told him, effectively saving me from my fumbling mouth. I looked at him and mouthed a 'thank you' and nodded at Charlie, confirming what he had said.
"Sounds like you. Didn't break anything this time, did you?" He asked and I held up my hands in defeat, showing him no injuries to report. "Not this time, Dad."
"Good, well, let me introduce you to Sue and the kids." He said, motioning for me to follow him into the kitchen. Sue sat at the table, tear tracks visible on her face as she sat with a piece of paper and a pen in front of her. She looked up as we approached and smiled slightly. "Sue, this is my daughter Bella. Bella, this is Sue Clearwater. I know the two of you have met before but it was a long time ago. Bella here came to cook us all up something good to eat."
"Lovely to meet you again, dear. You really don't have to cook for us, I'm sure I can whip something up." She told me with kind, dark eyes.
"Nice to meet you as well, though I wish it had been under better circumstances. I'm so sorry for your loss. I was very fond of Harry, myself. He was always such a good friend to my dad." I told her and she held my hand and patted the top of it with her other hand. "And I insist on cooking at least one dinner. You have a lot of people here and I wouldn't want to put all of that on you while you have other things on your mind. It's the least I can do."
"I wouldn't try to say no to her, Sue, she'll just take over your kitchen anyways." Charlie told her and I nodded in agreement.
"Alright then, help yourself to anything in the kitchen. If you need my help at all, please let me know." She told me and I smiled kindly at her. Just then, I saw a tall and lean teenage girl walk in with an even taller boy trailing behind her.
"Perfect timing. Bells, I'd like you to meet Leah and Seth." Charlie said, motioning to the two who now stood in front of us. Leah looked like she was angry, a scowl etched on her face.
"Hi, I'm Bella." I said. Leah said nothing, just walked away.
Seth stayed though, so I held out my hand to shake his and he took it eagerly. I looked up to see his face and found myself gazing into his eyes as the whole world seemed to have faded away.
All I could see was Seth. I could feel the electricity pulsating through our hands where they touched and I could have stayed there, staring into his deep chocolate eyes forever if I hadn't been interrupted.
A/N- I've given you Bella/Embry, and Bella/Sam, now is the time for a Bella/Seth imprint story. I absolutely adore Seth, he's truly my favorite character of the Twilight series. I will say one thing, in my story Seth is 15 (getting ready to turn 16) so that differs a bit from the books/movies. I'm not really a fan of 'robbing the cradle' so to speak, even though I met my husband when I was only 14 and he was 16. I figured a 2 1/2 year age difference wasn't nearly as bad as 3 or 4. (Although my parents have an 11 year age gap and my husbands parents have a 16 year age gap) I do hope you all enjoy the story and be sure to review.
