"Seriously?" Kyoko asked, skepticism clear in her voice. "Mami wants me to come back?"
Kyubey swished his tail as he stared at her. "She stressed that it was quite important."
Kyoko huffed. "I knew she'd crack eventually. It was only a matter of time before she was begging me to come back." Kyoko looked out into the distance as the sun began to peek over the horizon. "It's a dog eat dog world out there, you know?"
"As you have mentioned before," Kyubey said. "So will you refuse her?"
"Yeah. Like hell I'm going back to her; waste of both our times. She'll try to preach to me, I'll get pissed off, we'll argue, then we just hate each other more." Kyoko shook her head. "No thanks."
"Very well. She only requested that I ask you to meet with her, too. If you don't want to, that's your choice."
Kyoko looked back at Kyubey in confusion. "'Too?'"
"Both you and I. She has come across information I find to be quite interesting, but she would not tell me unless I spoke with you first."
"What could she know about that's so 'interesting'?"
"She recently became acquainted with two individuals who were hunting witches."
Kyoko gave a smug grin. "Oh, so she wants help clearing the competition? Sounds like she finally came around to some sense," Kyoko chuckled. "So, a territory dispute. Okay. Still doesn't explain what's interesting about that to you."
"From what Mami says, one of these individuals isn't a magical girl."
"Not a magical girl? Then what the hell is she?"
"I don't know anymore than that. But if they are successfully hunting witches, it would be beneficial for me to ascertain how."
"Damn, now I'm all curious," Kyoko said. She looked back over the horizon. "Prey's thinning around here, so I need to move anyway." Why not take a visit back to Mitakihara? Should at least be a few witches to hunt while she's there.
"Whether you go or not is your prerogative," Kyubey said with a swish of his tail.
"Someone hunting witches that isn't a magical girl is a pretty big deal."
"Indeed."
Kyoko hummed. "Yeah, I'll show up. Just to teach this new girl about not touching things that don't belong to her."
Things were just as she expected when she arrived in Mitakihara. A quick scan with her soul gem revealed a fair number of presences. Plenty of food to make coming back worth it. And she wasn't gonna waste it.
It wasn't long before Kyoko found herself in a labyrinth. Bright blue sky and a bunch of… clothesline? Whatever. Being able to see was always a plus. She could see the witch and its familiars dancing about in the distance, unaware of her presence so far.
She smirked. This was gonna be cake.
Just as she started running for the witch, a closer look revealed another person, standing some ways away from the witch. A grown man by the looks of it. Must have been affected by a witch's kiss.
Guess it wasn't his lucky day. Usually she wouldn't care, but having a normal person in a labyrinth with you just made things annoying. But she was feeling generous. She'd just knock him out and be done with it. If he lived, then maybe his luck wasn't so bad after all.
She took a leap toward him, readied a kick to his head and-
Her shin made contact with his arm.
She leapt away, her spear pointed toward him. He blocked her? "The hell?"
He turned his head to look at her. He flashed a grin. "Trying to kill me after just seeing me? Guess I do have that effect on people."
She looked at him in confusion.
"Aren't there bigger fish to fry?" He asked, turning back to the witch.
Kyoko continued to stare at him.
"You're one of them magical girls, right, Red? Figured you'd be after Lady Frankenstein over there rather than me."
"...You're not affected by the witch's kiss."
"She's not my type."
"Then how'd you get in here?"
He shot a glance at her, quirking his eyebrow like he thought she was stupid. "Same way you did?"
Kyoko grit her teeth. "What the hell do you want?"
He nodded back to the witch. "I'm still trying to figure out what their deal is; why do they do the things they do. I've got a couple ideas, but…" He clicked his tongue. "I'm not liking the answers I'm getting."
Kyoko eased slightly, but still kept her weapon ready. "What's that supposed to mean?"
He sighed. "Are we really just gonna play '20 Questions' with each other? I'm kinda running on a schedule. Tell you what, you take care of that little tightrope act, I'll tell you whatever you want." Kyoko opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted. "Look, you're here because of Goldilocks, right? That means we're on the same side. So go on and do what you came here to do. Hell, I'll even give you a boost."
He held out his hand, and in a flash of flame, a large sword appeared. He held the flat part out and gave a few practice swings as if he were batting.
Kyoko looked at him like he was stupid. "You cannot be serious."
"I gotta find some way to make this fun."
Kyoko stared at him blankly. He mentioned a 'Goldilocks'; could he be the one Kyubey talked about? If true, then definitely not what she expected. His attitude was kinda irritating, but he didn't seem naive or useless, at least from this brief interaction. She ended up giving a slight smirk of her own. If this is the kind of company Mami was keeping now, then at least she won't be bored while she's here. As long as he could actually pull his weight."You know what? Why the hell not?" she shrugged.
Kyoko stepped back before pushing her body with her magic and jumping toward the man. On cue, he swung the blade, sending Kyoko flying to the witch at an outrageous speed. She segmented her lance, the sharp edges easily tearing through the familiars before they even knew what was coming. She added a slight spin to herself, piercing through the witch like a drill through paper.
Kyoko felt a rush of adrenaline as she magically pushed herself downward, grinning with delight as she skid to a stop, the anguished screams of the witch fading as the labyrinth closed around them.
She rolled her neck as she moved to collect the grief seed. "Alright, that was pretty fun," she said to the man.
Crazy!
Kyoko tensed at the voice, but the man appeared not to react, seeming to only stare off into the distance. Kyoko shook her head with a scoff. "You looking for something?"
"More like I found something I'm not happy about." he gave a terse grunt as he shook his head. "More work to do. But, I'll burn that bridge when I get there. Anyways, I promised I'd tell you stuff, yeah?"
"That you did. You gotta name, Grandpa?"
He looked affronted. "It's Dante."
Kyoko shrugged. "Okay." She flicked her wrist, reforming her spear and pointed it at Dante. "So you're the one Mami talked about?"
"If we're talking about the same blondie with the spiral hair, then I guess."
Kyoko laughed. "That's her. Alright. I wanna kill a few more witches. Follow me, don't slow me down, and fill me in as we go. Got it?"
He shook his head with an amused grin. "Capiche."
Dante followed Kyoko along as she went about her business, and uncharacteristic pensiveness consumed his thoughts. Now that he'd seen a witch die from a complete third person perspective, he had confirmed a lot of what he was thinking.
Witches weren't corporeal the same way human flesh and blood were. Should have been obvious with how they disappear, but it made him question where the bodies were. Born from the warped soul of a human, they exist in a kind of in-between state. A manifestation of the spirit without fully existing in the human world. Sin scissors worked kind of the same way- at least as far as he understood it. And if that's the case, then something had to make them that way. Long story short, whatever process extracted their soul and turned them into witches had to have some kind of trick to it. There had to be a way to get them back to normal, only question is how.
And after his little squabble, he could definitely corroborate Homura's claim: the girls' souls were outside of their physical bodies too, stuck in those pieces of jewelry they wore. He shook his head. That seemed inefficient, but they were otherwise okay.
So he had two things to do: fix the witches and put the girls' souls back where they belong.
Just another day for the Legendary Devil Hunter.
Ideas were coming together in his head; he couldn't help but feel antsy. If he couldn't get Kyubey to spill the process, he'd need to see a witch being formed himself to know for certain. It's taking longer than he wanted, but this mission is as good as cleared. Just as long as he can get these last things together.
At the very least, now he knows Vergil and the Yamato would be a last ditch answer. But he'd be damned and die a thousand deaths before he gave his brother the satisfaction of fixing a problem he couldn't that actual, literal infants were handling.
Which reminded him: how was he gonna kill Kyubey this time? He definitely needed to make it cathartic for the Little Lady. Least he could do.
It took a lot of mental energy to keep herself still. Homura wasn't paying attention to the lesson of course, but her mental faculties were hard at work stopping herself from going up to Madoka and apologizing for being a worthless friend who couldn't save her. She wouldn't do that obviously. Such an act would be for her own self gratification, and to do so at this specific moment would no doubt make Madoka uncomfortable. She would not allow that. She wanted Madoka to know and understand how much she meant to her, but such feelings could not be conveyed effectively in such a short span of time, and not in so public a place that would detract from her earnestness.
But she would endure.
Madoka would be saved, and feelings of relief, gratitude, and affection will be shared then.
However, that was for the future. Currently, she has a different kind of challenge to endure.
"Akemi-san, your hair is so pretty!"
"Thank you."
"Akemi-san, do you think you could help me study? You're so smart!"
"Perhaps."
"Akemi-san, do you have a boyfriend!?"
"No."
Her person, beleaguered by various classmates. Irksome questions she didn't care to answer from people she didn't care to remember the names or faces of.
She had chosen this. All to keep a close eye on Madoka. Any pain can be endured if it's for her.
Sayaka winced at the gaggle of girls crowding around the transfer student. "Jeez, you guys think you can lay off? Give the girl some space! She just got out of the hospital, you know!
Several of the girls looked sheepish and apologized, but not before trying to get Homura into their various social networks.
"Sorry, about them," Sayaka said to her. "We don't get a lot of transfer students, so you're kinda the hot, new topic right now."
"It is fine," Homura said. "...Thank you."
"Oh, no worries! I get it, it can be kind of a shock with how they all are. They just don't know how to reel it in, you know?"
"You speak as though you are not a boisterous loudmouth yourself."
"Hitomi-chan's right, you're pretty much the same way, Sayaka-chan."
"Hey, can the first things you two say to the transfer student not be insults towards me?"
Homura watched as Madoka and her other friend came up to them. Madoka was smiling, seeming to be in good spirits. Once again, unaware of her repeated failures and in good health in front of her. Seeing Madoka still managed to put her heart at ease.
"Please excuse Sayaka-chan," Madoka said. "She is clinically incapable of minding her own business."
"Hey!"
"I am Hitomi Shizuki," the other friend introduced with a bow. "A pleasure, Akemi-san."
"I'm Madoka Kaname," she introduced herself. "I hope we can get along."
"Nice to meet you," Homura politely returned, keeping her gaze on Madoka. "Kaname-san… you are the nurse's aid for the class, correct?"
"Yeah?"
"Would you mind showing me the way there?" Homura asked.
Madoka blushed slightly. "O-oh, of course! I'm so sorry, I should have offered you to begin with!"
"It is quite alright. I simply would like to know in case of emergencies."
"I can show you now if you'd like?"
"Yes. Thank you."
Homura followed Madoka out of the classroom, the latter refusing to purchase Sayaka a melon soda on her way back, despite Sayaka's repeated insistence and begging.
They walked in step down the hall. Homura could faintly smell Madoka's shampoo, the one with the hint of strawberries. She barely held herself back from sighing. She wished moments like these could last forever. Just her and Madoka, walking hand-in-hand, peacefully in each other's presence with no cares or worries-
"Oh, Akemi-san!"
The two were interrupted by Mami approaching them.
Homura grit her teeth. "Tomoe-senpai."
"I wanted to stop by to see how you were coming along, but it seems I needn't have worried," she said with a giggle. "Thank you for caring for Akemi-san," she said with a bow towards Madoka.
"Um, it's no trouble at all," Madoka smiled back
Homura bit down her annoyance as the two introduced themselves. It didn't matter how fleeting it was, being with Madoka for even a moment was precious, and she did not take kindly to Mami Tomoe interrupting it. She longed for Madoka to smile at her like that, like she used to.
"Glad to see you've made a friend, Akemi-san," Mami said. "I will see you after class ends? I have heard my… associate has finally arrived."
"Very well."
"Excellent. Ta-ta for now!" She gave a peppy wave as she turned and walked on.
"I didn't know you were friends with an upperclassman, Akemi-san. That's nice that you could come here and not feel all alone…"
"I suppose."
"Hey… Akemi-san? Um, can I call you 'Homura-chan?' It's just, your name is really cool! And… I can't help but feel like I've met you before…"
Homura's fist clenched as she listened to Madoka being so very close to remembering her. It happened every time, without fail. She wanted so desperately for her to recall everything early on, but she gave up hoping for that long ago. It only served to remind her of what was at stake. If Madoka could remember, it would be so much easier for her.
Well, excluding extenuating circumstances.
The feeling of being nearly disemboweled was still very fresh.
Still.
Madoka deserved happiness. Maybe this time she could actually give that to her.
Dante watched as Kyoko paced back and forth, angrily working through a box of snacks she picked up from somewhere.
"So let me get this straight," she said, turning to face him. "You fight demons. Demon demons? Like, from Hell, demons?"
"Yup."
"Not witches. Demons."
"I fight witches now too, apparently."
"They're different?"
"Not even remotely close to each other."
"How? Are you a priest or something?"
Dante laughed. "Calling me a priest has to be blasphemy." Kyoko glared at him. "Anyone can hunt demons if they're strong enough."
Kyoko's face morphed into a pensive look. "You know a lot about them."
"Comes with the territory."
"Why fight them if you're not with the church?"
"It's a job like any other. And hey, someone's gotta do it, else the world's gonna end. And I kinda like living in the world."
"Why are they so bent on destroying humanity?"
Dante raised an eyebrow at her.
"My father… he was a priest himself. He took a trip to the west once. He encountered demons there."
Dante looked intrigued, allowing her to continue.
"He was always kind of an outcast in the faith, but that experience changed him a lot, from what I remember. Said that demons were real, walking among us. Realized it after he saw something called Temen-ni-Gru."
"Well, shit," Dante grumbled.
Kyoko jumped, the pocky she was eating almost falling out of her mouth. "You know about it?"
"Know about it?" Dante let out a sharp sigh. "Yeah, I do. Killed the guy that raised the damn thing."
"My father said he barely made it out alive. Came back and started preaching about it." She looked downcast, her hands clenched into fists. "Nobody listened to him."
"The less people know about that, the better."
"How can you say that?" Kyoko yelled. "If demons are real, how else are we gonna protect people if they don't do anything about it?"
"People learning about demons never goes right," Dante said. "This job ain't for everyone, and the less people getting in the way, the easier it is in the long run." Kyoko narrowed her eyes. Dante shook his head at her. "You really want some deadweight throttling you down in the middle of a hunt?"
Kyoko paused, thinking it over before crossing her arms with a huff.
"Tell me what happened with Temen-ni-Gru. Who raised it? Why?"
Dante was silent for a moment, his countenance darkening for a brief moment. "Usually I'd say 'don't worry about it', but..."
"But?"
"Long story short, the guy wanted power and sacrificed a lot to get it, making it everyone else's problem." He shook his head. "Tower was raised, demons were unleashed, lots of people died. I climbed it and put a stop to everything."
Kyoko paused. She sat down and started idly kicking her legs off the side of the roof. "...Okay."
"'Okay?'"
"Yeah. I believe you. It doesn't really change anything but… I feel better knowing there's people actually fighting demons."
"You make it sound like it's some noble goal. It really isn't."
"We're both doing what we can to look out for ourselves," Kyoko said, leaning back. "I only fight witches now because I can get their grief seeds out of it. If I'm gonna do this work, I don't wanna do it for free." Kyoko shook her head. "But ultimately, I guess it doesn't matter. The result's gonna be the same, in the end." She huffed. "God, I sound like Mami," she muttered under her breath.
Dante looked at the girl, a somberness had set about her as she looked off into the distance. She wasn't crying, but she had a weariness to her that did not belong on someone her age.
"It's because that's their nature."
She looked at him quizzically. "What?"
"Why demons are 'bent on destroying humanity.' It's what they do, but it's not for survival. Killing humans is something that makes them stronger, and if it didn't, they love maiming anything they see as weaker than themselves. They have a single drive and do everything they can to pursue it. It just happens that what they want is achieved by killing people."
Kyoko hummed. "I guess that makes sense. Witches are kinda similar. They have natures specific to them- I mean, it changes from witch to witch of course, but that probably has to do with why they act how they do."
Dante gave a dry chuckle. "Thanks for clearing that up. Demons are easy- human blood is a delicacy so they engorge themselves on it when they can. I don't know what the hell witches want. I'm still trying to figure that one out."
Kyoko looked back into the distance. "He called me a demon," she said softly.
"Who, your pops?" Kyoko nodded. "As a… term of endearment?"
"Then he tried to kill me."
Dante clicked his tongue. "...Damn."
"And sometimes I think he's right. When I became a magical girl, I thought I was helping him. Slaying demons in the dark while he tried to move people to the light." She gave a hollow chuckle. "Turned out great huh? I get that witches aren't demons, but I thought it meant something. Now I realize I'm just fighting to survive from day to day. Doesn't make me much different from one, huh?"
Dante sighed, taking a seat next to her. "My old man disappeared when I was a kid. My mother got killed by demons soon after that."
Kyoko turned her head to look at him. "So you started killing them for revenge?"
"Heh… kind of. Mostly it just sorta turned out that way."
"How?"
Dante took a deep breath. "My old man was a demon himself. He had enemies that wanted to kill him. They couldn't find him, so they figured I was the next best thing."
Kyoko's jaw dropped. "Y-you're a demon?"
"Heh, don't get so worked up. But because of that, I can tell ya, Red: you're as human as they come."
Kyoko blinked twice as she processed what he said. "You're really a demon."
Dante shrugged. "Depends on who's asking, honestly."
"And you fight to save people in spite of that." Kyoko took a deep breath. "Is it better to be born good or to overcome one's evil nature through great effort?"
"Is that from the Buddha or Confucius or something?"
Beside herself, Kyoko began to laugh.
Mami, true to her word, promptly sought Homura out the moment school ended. Madoka and Sayaka bid her farewell as she left. Homura was not pleased about leaving Madoka alone, but Dante should have killed the witch that they typically encounter. And if not, she would be there with Mami regardless. Additionally, the Incubator was supposed to be meeting with them specifically, which means his attention should be on other matters.
Madoka should be safe for now, but Homura couldn't shake the worry she felt.
"Was school okay for you, Akemi-san? I admit, I am surprised you decided to attend."
Of course she would. She needed to watch out for Madoka. "It would only cause more problems if I did not."
"Well I am glad nonetheless," she giggled. "You seem to be quite popular."
"Bothersome," she replied. The others only get in the way.
"Yes, I suppose trying to acclimate so suddenly could prove tiring. But you did well, considering." Mami gave a light hum as she turned to look out at the distance. "But back to business."
Homura, too, felt the Incubator approaching them.
"Do you think we will be enough to stop Walpurgisnacht?" Mami continued.
If Dante can pull off a repeat performance, Walpurgisnacht will be the least of her worries.
"One can never be certain," she said.
"It is important to not be overly confident."
"Walpurgisnacht is a very powerful witch. Certainly more magical girls will be of assistance if you plan on defeating it."
And thus he appeared. Homura just barely stopped herself from clenching her fists. It would not do to show off her animosity so early. She had a plan, after all.
"Kyubey!" Mami cheerfully greeted, gathering him into her arms.
Kyubey, impassive as always, turned his head to look at her. "You must be Homura Akemi," he said. "I do not know you." He paused for a moment. "Curious."
Homura did her best to pretend she was confused. "Is that so? I cannot imagine why. I, of course, remember you."
"Are there others besides you who make magical girls?" Mami asked.
Kyubey flicked his tail. "I discovered a few girls with potential," he continued. "I will contact them once I have concluded with you, Homura."
"If you do not remember me, I assume you do not know Dante, either."
"I would assume as much."
"Um, Kyubey," Mami interjected. "You didn't answer my question."
"Whether I contracted her specifically or not does not matter. I should be aware of every magical girl." Kyubey blinked. "I am quite interested in what you have to say, Homura."
Homura bit the inside of her cheek. Having to work so closely with Kyubey grated severely on her nerves. But she would just have to endure. Stick to the plan for now.
"I am simply trying to kill a specific witch. There is nothing other than that."
"But you are partnered with someone who is not a magical girl," Kyubey said. "That is what I find interesting."
"Mr. Dante is quite the character," Mami said. "It is good to know there are people other than magical girls out there fighting witches."
"Yes," Kyubey said. "Good to know."
Homura knew the Incubator could not feel emotions, but for some reason that statement seemed overly smug.
"Ah, well it seems you won't have to wait long," Mami said. "It appears Sakura-san has already become acquainted with Mr. Dante."
As they approached Mami's apartment, Homura could see Kyoko on the roof, animatedly talking to Dante.
She also eyed that they were eating a pizza.
Homura found herself feeling nauseous.
The man noticed their approach and gave a lazy wave. Kyoko turned and jumped off the roof, landing before them.
Homura noticed that Mami tensed slightly.
"Mami," Kyoko said, looking at the girl. Kyoko had a large smirk on her face as she eyed her. "About time you showed up."
"Sakura-san."
Mami's eyes were trained on Kyoko, her stare unwavering.
Kyoko, however, wasn't paying either of them much attention as she was licking grease off her fingers.
Homura couldn't suppress her scoff.
Kyoko's smirk remained as she looked over Homura. "So you're the sidekick. Little Lady, right?"
Homura didn't dignify that with a response.
Kyoko chuckled. "Yeah, you're just like he said."
"That's just how she is." When they weren't looking, Dante had apparently managed to get down himself, and was now leaning on the wall, a slice of pizza in one hand and the box in the other. "Want some?"
"No thank you," Mami declined.
Dante shrugged and continued to indulge in his food.
Homura glanced at Kyubey, who was staring at Dante.
"So what's all this about?" Kyoko asked. "Some super powerful witch or something?"
"You have decided you are comfortable enough to eat pizza without discussing the reason you are here in the first place," Homura commented.
"I went over the important stuff," Dante said.
Kyoko gave an amused nod of her head. "Yeah. Important stuff."
Mami let out a terse hum. "You seem to be getting along."
"Turns out we had a little bit in common," Dante said.
"What could you both possibly have in common?" Homura asked.
Dante and Kyoko eyed each other.
"Same favorite color," they said in unison.
Homura brought a hand to her temple and sighed.
"...What?" Mami paled.
"If you are finished, I believe we have a purpose for all of this," Homura said, leveling a glare at Dante.
"Yeah yeah," Dante said.
"Looking forward to it," Kyoko said.
Homura narrowed her eyes at Kyoko. The girl seemed to be in rather high spirits. She wasn't being overly antagonistic, and seemed downright amicable. Why? What could Dante have said that caused her to so easily agree to this? Was she trying to play them? Doubtful: Kyoko cares only about her personal survival and gratification. If she were not directly benefiting, she would not agree to this. Dante certainly could not have played to her sense of altruism. How did he manage to turn her to his cause?
Homura was beginning to believe he truly did have some form of mental manipulation if he was able to garner both Mami's and Kyoko's cooperation so effortlessly.
Mami politely cleared her throat, attempting to refocus their attention. "Then we should discuss our plans," Mami said. "We may talk inside over tea if you would like."
"Whatever floats your boat, kid," Dante said.
Homura nodded.
Kyoko shrugged. "Sure."
"Of course. Then, if you would-"
"What are you?"
The four paused as Kyubey's comment interrupted Mami.
Homura tensed immediately. Had she aroused the Incubator's suspicion? Already? This shouldn't happen so quickly! How had it unraveled so soon-
"Huh?" Kyoko loudly questioned.
"What do you mean Kyubey?" Mami asked.
Dante looked at Kyubey in surprise. "That's what you sound like?"
"What are you?" Kyubey repeated, jumping from Mami's grasp. "I don't know what you are. You aren't human."
"The albino chinchilla is really gonna get on my case?" Dante replied. "The hell are you even supposed to be?"
"I do not know what you are," Kyubey said. "I do not understand."
Homura's eyes widened as Kyubey began to step backwards away from Dante.
"Kyubey, are… are you okay?" Mami asked, genuine concern on her face.
"I do not understand why," Kyubey said, still keeping the same tone through his mental communication. "You are causing my self-preservation instinct to activate. Very interesting."
"Can't say that's a reaction I'm used to," he said.
"So…" Kyoko spoke up. "That's something you can tell, huh, Kyubey?" She scoffed. "I guess if anyone could tell, it would be you."
"Tell what?" Mami asked. "What are you talking about?"
Homura schooled her features as best she could. Somehow Kyubey was remembering whatever Dante did to him in the last loop, when he tried to grant his wish. It certifiably killed him, as far as she could confirm. Could it be that the Incubator… was afraid?
If she were alone, the thought would bring a smile to her face.
"This is so very curious," Kyubey said, still keeping a respectable distance from Dante. "I hypothesized what you would show me, Homura, but this vastly exceeds my expectations. I will be keeping a much closer eye on you both."
"W-wait, Kyubey!" Mami called, but she was ignored as Kyubey ran off. "What has gotten into him!?"
"...I've never seen him freak out like that," Kyoko said.
"Indeed," Homura said. "...He was acting rather oddly, earlier," she added after a pause. She looked at Dante. He looked back, giving a very subtle nod.
Mami gave a light gasp. "Now that you mention it-"
"Odd how?" Kyoko asked. "What did he do?"
"He mentioned that he didn't remember Akemi-san, despite acknowledging her status as a magical girl."
"Isn't he supposed to, like, know every magical girl?"
Dante made a show of looking inquisitive. "I take it that's not supposed to happen?"
"But you know him, yeah?" Kyoko asked. "You guys do fight witches."
"I admit, I have not had much interaction with Kyubey recently," Homura said.
"Been getting a little sidetracked," Dante said.
Homura saw Kyoko wince. "Ah."
"But still, he should know who you are," Dante said to Homura. "That he doesn't is-" He cut himself off, looking up as if he just realized something. "Huh." He shook his head. "Well, he said he'd keep an eye on me, so it's not like he's going away. You girls make sure you look after him too, alright?"
"Yes, of course!" Mami affirmed.
"Alright," Kyoko said.
"Regardless, we did have a purpose for meeting you today," Homura said, turning to Kyoko. "Since Dante, unfortunately, wasted your time, I will have to explain the situation to you."
Kyoko grinned. "I'm all ears."
A Madoka Magica gacha game and a Devil May Cry anime? Idk, I feel like some wires must have gotten crossed there. I haven't watched the show yet, but I'm looking forward to giving it a try. If the opening is unironically Limp Bizkit, I think I have to like it solely on principle. I've played a little bit of Exedra so far too. I got Oriko 3 times and I am not happy about it.
Uh, yeah. Don't really have anything else to say over here. Have a good day I guess?
