Life was odd, and completely unpredictable to an extent. Had Taylor ever planned to snap High Priest's control from one of its Siege Engines and cause it to have a full system crash? No, not really, she had not.
Did she have the power to do so at any given point in time had she wished it? Well, yes, she was...different from the Others, and had powers that she purposely sandbagged because life would be incredibly boring without limitations after all.
Sure the Siege Engines were destroying the world around them but what did it really matter in the end? Entropy was the end result of all things so she hadn't really acted until something that entertained her was threatened.
Plus no one had asked her to get rid of them while her parents had told her she was not allowed to fight Endbringers until she was older, and so that was on their plate not hers.
She had sidelined most of her power in favor of Necromancy for a reason, if she really...honest to Grandmother and Grandfather, and all the power she had stol- legitimately acquired from the demonic planes, had accepted her place in the pantheons...
No. Just no.
She didn't want the groveling, the worship, the responsibility involved with any of it.
Taylor liked her life.
Being a Necromancer was easy. She was the somewhat vapid, hopefully approachable shotgun toting supernatural problem solving girl from the Bay and she liked it that way.
Being a Goddess...was work she wanted no part of.
She liked cuddling with Emes and Trip. She liked playing video games, shopping, and hanging out for movie nights with her girlfriends. She liked being indolent and irresponsible and saw no real benefit to end that.
She was willing to watch the world burn because what did it matter in the end? She'd protect her girls, mom, dad, and Nana would protect theirs, so once again, in the end, what did it matter?
Australia though? Nope she wouldn't tolerate it, High Priest could have his fun but Australia was far too amusing to her Fae and Norse heritage to let it fall to a single man's ego and small dick issues.
So she had intervened, and acquired a new friend in the process, win win really.
Thus Taylor was not shocked when after answering the knock on her door, Alexandria was standing there before her.
They stared at each other for well over two minutes, eventually Alexandria shifted a bit, then spoke out, "I-"
Taylor raised a finger to silence her, then breathily whispered out, "A moment if you would please, I am currently fangirling at this time. Seriously this everything I ever wanted."
She stood there for a time, then asked the increasingly uncomfortable Alexandria, "Can I hug you? Please?"
Alexandria froze for a moment, then nodded, Taylor wrapped her arms around her, then muttered, "This was all I ever wanted..."
For her Part, Alexandria, returned the hug, all while patting Taylor's back awkwardly. Breaking the embrace they stared at each other for a time, then Taylor grinned, "Is this about Simmy?"
Alexandria, Taylor's, personal role model and hero, nodded slightly while Taylor did her best to not giggle while replying with, "Well if you want to talk to her she's trimming the back hedges at the moment."
Alexandria stared at Taylor a moment, then muttered, "What?"
It took every iota of Taylor's self control to not break out cackling as she demurely stated, "Well, she is my new housekeeper after all."
Alexandria was quiet for a moment, then muttered, "...What... are you?"
Taylor stared at her a moment, then shrugged, "Terrifying, would you like to come inside for tea while I explain my genealogy?"
Her childhood hero nodded as she followed Taylor Hebert into her home.
Alexandria was not afraid.
To admit she was terrified beyond all comprehension by the young woman serving tea to her at the moment would be tantamount to sacrilege compared to the horrors she had fought over the past thirty years.
She had struck against the Slaughter House Nine, losing her best friend and an eye in the process. She'd dealt with those idiot Dragon Slayers to a standstill more than once much to her annoyance. She had fought Endbringers across the globe and... lost so many collogues and friends against those abominations along the way...
It always felt like she was running and going nowhere, just sinking deeper as she drowned in humanities sorrow...
Then this happened.
The brunette teen who had asked for a hug not two minutes earlier shot her a sunny smile as she offered Rebecca a bottle of honey, which made Rebecca want to fly away as fast as possible in abject horror, but she resisted the urge as she accepted the bottle.
"Thankyou," she muttered as she squirted the honey into her tea, and occupied herself with mixing it with a small silver spoon the girl had supplied.
Trying not to panic she took a sip, then paused as she actually tasted the drink and let out a satisfied sigh.
"Good huh?" The girl asked with a grin, "It's Nana's personal mix, not surprised. So, I'm guessing this visit is more business rather than pleasure, did I do something bad enough to gain my childhood hero's attention?"
She was being completely honest, she really had no idea what kind of anthill she had kicked over...lovely...
Sipping her tea to save time Rebecca eventually placed her cup on its saucer while speaking up, "Well... you did subvert an Endbringer attack and enthrall the creature to do your bidding."
The girl actually looked offended as she sat up and spoke out sounding incredibly indignant, "I did not enthrall Simmy! I simply broke her connection to the Idiot Priest and offered her gainful employment! Simmy! Come here please hon I need you to make my personal hero understand everything here is on the level."
Rebecca felt a part of her soul die as the Simurgh sauntered into the room in a French maid outfit and stiletto's.
[Confused Query]
"Alexandria thinks I enthralled you into being my housekeeper, please tell her otherwise."
Rebecca froze in horror as the End of Hope stared at her, and blushed.
[Embarrassed Clarification] she glanced about a bit then shrugged, [Unit 03 Now Works For the Princess, with benefits and a health package]
With that she walked off, and the girl turned back to her all smiles and rainbows, "See! Everything is great! You don't have to worry about her doing anything bad since she's working for me so no worries!"
Alexandria did her best to not let her tea spill as she ground out, "While that is...great... what about the other Endbringers?"
Taylor paused for a few moments, scrunched her brows, then asked, "Wait, did you want those taken care of? Cause seriously all you had to do was ask if they were a problem."
Rebecca died, a little bit, on the inside.
