Disclaimer: I don't own any of the Paramount characters and I'm making nothing from this.
The one that had spoken, Maria, looked at her mother and could tell that she was troubled. She had seen that look several times to know what it meant. Add to the fact that there were people in the house wearing Starfleet uniforms (all of her classmates had been told about Starfleet and what their uniforms looked like).
"These are my old friends from the Enterprise," her mother told her. "You know, the ship that I use to be on."
"That you left so that we could be near you all the time."
"Correct," she said. "It seems that a man name Bok wants to come and kill your brother because of what happened to his son."
Maria felt her blood run cold. Perseus could be a nightmare but she didn't want him dead and she most certainly didn't want some evil monster kill him.
"Can they protect him?" Joan asked her.
"Yes, they can," she said. "I'm sorry about doing this to all of you."
"It's not your fault," Nancy said. "But why does he think that killing Perseus will make things right in his eyes?"
"Because his son was killed by your father."
"Our father," Madeline said, "The man that has no clue that we even exist."
Their mother nodded. They had all been told about what a great man Jean-Luc Picard was and that he cared about others under his command just like he cares about the ship that he commands. Maria could tell there was a lot more going on between her parents than Beverly was letting on, but she allowed her mother, her adult mother, to have her hidden secrets. She also knew that said Jean-Luc Picard had no clue that they had even been born.
So she didn't hold that against him.
"Did you win?' Maria asked the group, hoping that her father would be among them.
"Yes, I did," one of them said.
"Good," she said. "Anyone that wants to kill my brother doesn't deserve any kind of sympathy from me."
"So we have to leave the house," Perseus said.
"I'm afraid so," her mother said. "But I won't let what's happening keep you from living a normal life or being around other kids. I'm not robbing that from any of you."
"Can we bring Spooky?" Nancy asked her.
"Of course," she said. "But you're going to have to decide what you will take and what you'll leave behind."
"And we'll be up in space," Joan said.
"The Enterprise is a Starship," a golden skinned man told her.
"I'll take that as a yes on the space part," Nancy said.
"We'll be leaving in three hours," their mother told them. "Oh I almost forgot to introduce you all to my friends. Maria, Perseus, Madeline, Nancy, and Joan this is Captain Jean-Luc Picard who is your father, Commander Riker, Deanna Troi, Data, Geordi La Forge, and Wesley Crusher. Wesley is your brother."
At the mention that they had a brother they started to swarm him. They didn't miss the small smile that was on their mother's lips.
"It's an invasion of mini Beverly's," one of them said.
Joan stuck her tongue out.
Three hours later, and two trips later, all five of them; along with their mother, was on the Enterprise. They had packed some clothes, several books, the musical instruments that each of them played, a couple breakable items that Nana had given them, and Spook. Spook made it clear that he didn't like being in a crate.
"Hello, Beverly," a man with short, brown, hair said.
"Miles, it's so good to see you again," she said. "Miles, this is my children. Maria, Nancy, Madeline, Joan, and Perseus."
"It's nice to meet all of you," O'Brian said.
"Well let's find our quarters and get unpacked."
"The Captain has given you permission to take them on a tour of the ship," he told her.
"Thanks, I'll take him up on that offer," their mother said. "Come one, quarter finding time."
"Imagine having five of them," Will said to Geordi. "I don't think I could keep my mind."
"Well Beverly has done a good job with them," he said. "And they do seem to take the threat of Bok seriously."
"I think it's because he's threatening to kill their brother," Will said. "You know; I have a feeling that we'll be seeing the Wesley incident all over again."
"When he touched controls that he knew how to use," Geordi said, grinning. "Now that was a nerve racking time for the Captain."
"And it's going to happen all over again."
"I don't think it will bother the Captain this time around. After all, they are his kids."
Will thought about this and said, "I had no idea that they had a relationship besides being friends."
"I think there's a lot about them that we don't know."
"Their medical files have been transferred," Dr. Pulaski told Beverly.
"Thanks," she said.
"So how do you feel being back?" she asked.
"I'm only here until Bok is found," Beverly told her. "And then I go back home with the children."
"Mrs. Crusher, are you sure that you will want to leave when Bok is found?" Dr. Pulaski asked her. "I mean; they'll get a chance to be with their father."
Beverly sighed and said, "I don't know what I'm going to do once Bok is found and arrested. If it wasn't for Bok, then the Enterprise wouldn't be even here. Still, I'm not about to deny them the chance to be with their father."
"Does the Doctor's know how you ended up pregnant with five children?"
"Bad luck," Beverly joked. "No, they think that the implant that I used stopped working and the end result was that too much chemicals was released into my body. Whatever reason they like to use to try and explain to someone that knows how these things work. I think the damn thing stopped working and it caused too many eggs to be released, which shouldn't even be possible. I was huge, like a giant castle instead of a normal size pregnant woman. Trust me, it was a nightmare for me to get out of bed."
"So you're not using a birth control implant."
"No, I'm not," Beverly answered. "After what happened eleven years ago I don't feel like I can trust them."
"I think that would be a good idea," she said. "Though you better watch out for the Captain. He might walk past you and you end up pregnant again."
"If that happens I'm going to blame his French good looks," Beverly said to her.
"Well I look forward to meeting them," she said. "How about this afternoon."
"I'll bring them in," Beverly promised and she left sickbay.
It had been one strange ride, so far, for her. To find that Bok, that annoying mushroom headed moron, decided that he would threaten her family had filled her with fear and terror. Mainly due to what he had done to Jean-Luc six years ago. To know that he had managed to crawl out of the cesspool that had been a prison on his home world, was enough to make her worry about the safety of everyone that she cared about. They had managed to find their quarters which wasn't too far from Jean-Luc's.
She didn't know if he intended it that way or it was just what Geordi thought would be a good idea. She then enrolled them in school, which had been a difference experience, and then the whole group had gone to bed. Spook was setting on a couch, looking at her as though she had personally offended him.
"Don't give me that look," she told him. "You'll love the Enterprise. I sure did, when I had been here."
Being back was very painful. Why had Bok even decided to come after them? She didn't know, but she was going to keep him from being able to do just that. A chime broke her thoughts and said, "Enter." The door opened and Wesley stood there.
"Mom," he said.
"Wes," Beverly said. "What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to come by and visit," he told her. "So are they asleep?"
"Yeah, the whole day was too much for them," she said. "So how are you doing?"
"I'm doing okay," he said and he sat down. "I'm still getting use the idea that I even have siblings."
Beverly knew that this talk was coming and she said, "What do you think about them?"
"They stare too much."
"Well you did," Beverly reminded him. "You know they're still talking about what you did six years ago."
He groaned and said, "I can't believe that I did that."
She grinned at him and said, "Don't worry, they probably did some embarrassing things themselves."
"Thanks for the advice," he said to her.
"No problem," Beverly said.
A/N: Wesley didn't go with the Traveler. That's the reason that he's in this story.
