The Swap of Loss and Gain
"I'm...so sorry-uhu-All Might." A week. Just a single week and Izuku Midoriya's goal to be the Number 1 Hero may as well be ruined. The poor…'boy' sobbing in his new hands while his mentor and hero sighed in defeat. He didn't blame young Minodriya, and patted him on the back to comfort him.
"Do not blame yourself Young Midoriya." The Number 1 Hero told hi-her(?)-er-him. "This is not your fault at all. Not one bit. This was just...an unfortunate accident." One that cost them One For All, but again, it was neither of their faults. Just the fault of, well, whatever caused it. "And hey, you still have a Quirk young Midoriya. One that if used right, can allow you to train and be strong."
"...Re-huh-really?" The voice of a girl asked.
"Really." The white haired man told him with a dandy smile.
One week.
It had been one week before the entrance exam. The day the U.A. test would start and Izuku would join U.A. High to start his path on being the Number 1 Hero. Izuku had managed to clean-up the entire beach a bit earlier than expected, so All Might decided to give him his Quirk.
One For All.
A unique Quirk that can be passed through the generations, and bestow great power onto the user. Seeing this young man as worthy, Toshinori Yagi decided the boy would be his successor. The new Symbol of Peace. As a celebration the two went to go out and have an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Then it happened, the event.
It would be called the 'Great Swap' by those of the internet and in a hundred years the 'Great Interchange'. An event that happened in Japan, Africa, America, London, Parios, any big city with only lesser known towns and not well-known places unaffected. Man, woman, child, baby, even (specific) animals were hit by it. Nobody had been safe, and once people realized what occurred, panic came all around the world.
Making it so weird that things had just...calmed down after one week.
There hadn't even been any looting, riots, or security problems at all. If anything, it was like some unforeseen force made all potential problems-at least some of them-just vanish. Thus why the two were sitting down like it was a normal day. Granted, there were still problems, no denying that. Plus the world, while eerily calm, are still trying to figure out how this event happened, dealing with people taking advantage of the event, and so on. The two dealing with the fallout of one of them, particularly, the utter loss of One For All.
Basically put, everybody around the world aside from the lucky ones ended up switching bodies and Quirks.
Yeah. That actually happened.
People all over ended up having switched bodies, Quirks, and genders. For one week the local media went crazy up until whatever strangeness caused people to just calm down and not go full anarchy. Still, despite that calmness the people were still freaking out in their subdued way. Adjusting from their changes and junk, with people being unsure how to feel about this. Though there were certainly many who were mad, and those interested in their new bodies or Quirks.
For some, they only swapped bodies but kept their Quirks. Others ended up with swapped bodies, yet also with swapped Quirks. The two sitting down ended up in the latter camp. As such, Midoriya and Yagi were far from pleased. As while both ended up not only getting new bodies...but they also ended up with new Quirks. All Might's theory of why One For All ended up lost was that since this event caused people to swap Quirks, then the unique Quirk itself left Izuku since it wasn't being stolen. Didn't make either any happier though. Still, Yagi tried to ensure Izuku wasn't at fault and cheering him up, as technically, he did gain a Quirk that could greatly help him out.
"Still…" Izuku sighs as the former boy-now girl-scratches her new head. "I feel bad One For All is...gone…"
"I already made a few...calls." Toshinori tells his successor. "We'll find it, one day. But until then, you have an exam to get to, new people to meet, and a new Quirk to master."
"Yes sir!" Izuku tells the older hero. "I'll master this new Quirk, pass U.A. High's exams, and make you proud."
"That's my boy-er...girl!" The girl herself then sighed, also not happy that the gender she had been so used to had been switched to that of a girl. Even worse, it was an attractive one. That and he was also forced to wear his…newfound 'father's' clothes such as a bra. This switch in some ways sucked.
To better explain, both Midoriya and Yagi ended up with utterly new forms. So, best to reveal their description so nobody will get confused.
For Midoriya, he is now a she. A girl of medium height and has a slim build. She has teal eyes and long ginger hair that she typically wears tied into a high ponytail on the left side of her head. Her bangs are split into three clumps around her eyes, and some of her hair sticks up in large tufts at the top of her head. Wearing a white blouse with a belt on her new waist and a blue jacket.
For Yagi, he's now no longer the buff and strong hero he used to be. Instead being a younger-much to his surprise-man with a slicked-back white hairdo with a curl at the front and sports a handlebar mustache along with a well-kept, medium-sized beard. He also has thick black lines around his eyes resembling eyeliner which was applied by a marker and wore a black long-sleeve dress shirt with a brown vest over it and simple black pants.
Many were very surprised that All Might had gained this new look when he presented himself along with the other Top Ten heroes in the media just two days ago. Along with a new Quirk that he later learned in the Quirk Registry is called Elasticity. Thankfully, for reasons unknown to him, he still had the 'vestiges' of One For All in this body somehow, and while unable to 'buff up' is still powerful to the peoples cheers.
Yep. These two were just one of many with different bodies and maybe even Quirks. The future itself was looking very strange for them and the friends and allies for them indeed.
But it wasn't limited to just heroes either.
"It is time we all start this meeting." A week. An entire week since the event people have now called 'The Great Swapping'. A bit plain and an understatement of what actually occurred, with people having different bodies and sometimes Quirks. But hey, if it works it works.
"Fine then." A female voice called out. One that is entirely different from what his (now her) protégé once had. "Let's just get this shit over with." You'd never expect those words to come out from a face like that. The same occurred to all of 'her' allies as well, with some either liking it, hating it, or being utterly indifferent to it.
"Yah! This is great! No it isn't!" One of the members contradicted themselves.
"Yadda, yadda, yadda." The next one deadpanned. "I just wanna move on here. Thankfully I still kept my Quirk."
"Yeah we did!" The only former female cheered. "Let's get this show on the road!"
"I hope we can. Because this is...uncomfortable." One of their members said, the only one who kept both their appearance and Quirk for some reason. Standing behind the counter and cleaning a glass cup.
"You're telling me." A stunning lady wearing a lab coat muttered while adjusting her hair. To think she'd get that old crones body. It was only thanks to 'her' Quirk, that it reverted to a still old-but rather pretty-woman. Not that he liked it, as that got the wrong attention.
"We better fuckin fix this and fast!" Their recent member, now turned wimp roared in anger. Upset at having lost both their body and their muscular Quirk at the same time. "I wanna die by fighting. Not die as a weakling."
"At least you still have a decent Quirk. Mine's pointless." Cleaning their gas mask, the latest member of the team also sighed as like the man from before, he to got both a body swap and Quirk. This one being nearly useless unless he wanted to kill himself. Man this sucked.
"I dunno. I think I came out okay." The biggest fanboy to one of the greatest killers of Japan shrugs, liking the new body.
"Same here!" A woman says with a smile. Now a real woman.
"Flesh! Flesh!" The saddest member of the bunch whined as he could no longer summon his beautiful teeth to render flesh.
"Maybe you guys do, but not everybody. At least you have a decent body." The dramatic member of this group shouted. Upset like the freak nearby who still whined about teeth. "This body doesn't match my tastes at all! Why!?"
"If you're talking about that, then look at him...her?" The second in command of the group then pointed at what was once their most powerful member, next to the actual boss, and now at the much smaller and clearly weaker version of themselves. "Thankfully by a sheer damn miracle 'she' kept all her Quirks compared to Master, but that body doesn't help accommodate that power."
"I...still...serve…" The girl says yet looks down at her new body. Terrified if she could even serve with this useless body at all.
"Let's not even mention Masters new form!" The second in command pointed at the true leader of the group, who's now a damn child. The only good thing about their body was that it had a powerful Quirk and is much healthier compared to the old damaged one. If anything, the Master didn't even mind the body too much.
Problem.
It was short, feeble, and she also lost every. Single. Quirk. She has ever stolen. Having only one Quirk, her current body's original, and nothing more.
"Alright, in which case, let's start re-assigning our identities. But first, lights please." The nearby doctor huffed and had the lights above turn brighter and everybody at last saw one another in their new forms.
The new bodies and sometimes Quirks of the up-and-coming dangerous group known as the League of Villains, who will one day reveal themselves to the world. Who, like everybody else in the world, have been changed because of this damn event with rather uncanny results. Results that caused the leader and her protégé to change their plans a lot differently.
"Now then," Their leader known as All For One says. Being in the body of what appears to be an eight-year old. Having long white hair she cleaned up a bit, red eyes, and wore a mini black suit and red tie. "Let us sit down and talk of our upcoming plans." The newly turned little girl then went to sit down. "..."...only to discover the chair was too high for her to climb.
Let's pretend she was aiming to stand by it.
"Good." All For One's protégé, Tomura Shigaraki says aloud. Sitting on a bean bag chair and scratching her new unblemished neck. Now being a full-figured and attractive pale-skinned young woman of slightly above average height with quite a round face. She has wavy blonde hair which reaches halfway down her back, two shorter pieces she leaves over her shoulders, side-swept bangs that frames her face, aqua-blue eyes with notable upper eyelashes, some slightly longer ones extending on each side and pronounced lower eyelashes.
Having replaced her former clothing which was originally a white short-sleeved dress shirt with plaid cuffs, a large bow of the same design at her neck, and a dark raspberry pink waistcoat. Accompanying them being pale gray capri pants, under which are a pair of plaid pink socks as well as a pair of heeled brown boots with a wristwatch and pink, oval-framed glasses.
Instead, those wonderful clothes were replaced with her usual black long-sleeve shirt which clung to Tomura's new curves and the usual blue pants and sneakers.
"Girl, those clothes just aren't right." The new recruit Magne says with a giggle. She's a fairly well-built young woman with a rather slim build, her skin light blue in color. She has short, ruffled dark blue hair that curves upwards and downwards around her head, parted to her left, and wide yellow eyes with thick eyelashes.
Her new villain costume consists of a skintight dark blue crop top with a white high-collared section, a zipper down the middle, over the higher part of her chest, which reveals her torso from the underside of her breasts. She wears black tights with loose white shorts, two yellow markings down the either side of them, and thick white boots with lines running down their shafts, yellow rings in the center of them. Over her entire face, she wears a transparent visor with an air filter on each side, and on her hands she wears plain dark blue gloves.
Granted, Magne didn't like this body belonged to some sidekick, but eh, whatever. She still has her original Quirk.
"Shut it!" Tomura doesn't want to deal with this. "Not everybody likes their new bodies."
"Agreed!" Yelling out is the infamous villain called Muscular. Having once been strong, feared, having a great body. Because of this stupid swap, he now ended up with this pathetic body.
Which is a very short teenage boy with a large, round head, and rather puffy cheeks. His nose is small, stubby and points slightly upwards, and he has an unusually distinguishable philtrum, oval-shaped eyes with large, black pupils, and notably thin eyebrows. He has four large purple and black balls in something resembling a mohawk where his hair should be. Not to mention having a stupid new Quirk that allows him to only pop-off his stupid round hair! He sincerely hoped this All For One dude can give him a new Quirk.
"I'll say." The formerly dashing villain says in agreement. Who once had the body that was related to a man known to the world as a peerless thief. Instead, his new form is a lean man with large yellow eyes and the head of a ginger tabby cat. He had to have his custom mask become bigger to cover that dastardly stupid face!
"You guys are such whiners." The former girl giggles creepily in 'his' new body. "I like this one. You should be more optimistic." From a cute girl to a somewhat short male with a round face framed by a short mess of fluffy dark-green hair which sticks up at odd angles around his head, casting noticeably dark shadows onto itself. His eyes are large and somewhat circular, their irises the same green color as his hair, which at times are very watery, usually stretched quite wide, giving him an innocent appearance. He has a set of four symmetrical freckles in diamond formations, one on each cheek. Having a very toned body with muscles, and while technically male the villain called Himiko Toga decided to wear her former school's female uniform which oddly suited this body. Go figure.
"Can we just get on with this crap." Shigaraki yelled at them. "We all gathered for one reason or another. To take down the Symbol of Peace!"
"And get new bodies!" Muscular shouted.
"Yeah, that. If the doctor can even do it." Shigaraki looked toward the dashing older lady who gave a so-so hand motion. "Regardless, the new bodies and Quirks can wait."
"Yeah!" A man calling himself Stains successor and named Spinner roars. "We need to fulfill the Hero Killers goal. Sure he's got a new body, but that doesn't stop him."
Shigaraki had to stop herself from disintegrating the fanboy.
To think, things were going so smoothly before. The new semester and school year for U.A. had been about to begin, with Shigaraki just eager to start the plan to ruin them. Having gathered countless no-name villains from the alleys and had them join the League of Villains, and then later kill All Might and those snot-nose brats who wished to be heroes.
Then the swapped happened, derailing everything.
While the world didn't fall under anarchy somehow-a damn shame to-that didn't mean chaos didn't happen. His newly recruited fodder going crazy over their new bodies, sometimes Quirks, and then panicking all over before they just ran off. Well, most anyway, with those who stayed being killed off by the now female Tomura who just needed to vent off her new stress.
Her teacher and Master, also not as pleased, as while the new body she inhabited was decent, it was still a childs while losing all her acquired Quirks over the century and including the one she had been born with. Though thanks to the doctor, she gained it back through an apparent copied version of All For One, which now resided in her body. There were sadly limitations, as the compatibility was so bad, it only allowed All For One to steal up to seven Quirks, so she would have to make them count.
'Though,' Shigaraki then thought. 'Master did mention that body's original Quirk was powerful.' Moving on, after the swap and the villains fleeing, All For One then advised him to just gather elite fighters instead. Those with great power, with a few who joined like Muscular for their own personal reasons. This led to the team that is here and now.
Dabi. Toga. Spinner. Muscular. Mr. Compress. Twice. Magne. Moonfish. Mustard. With lesser Nomu and the big one, who surprisingly, like Kurogiri, also didn't have a body swap for some reason. How very strange. Gigantomachia is also with them as well, though mainly to ensure 'her' safety considering her position.
"So then," Mustard says while putting his hands in his pockets. "What's the plan boss guy?"
"So long as I kill someone, I'm good." Dabi leans on a counter.
"The plan is still the same." All For One explains to them as she adjusts her tie. "Tomura, when the time comes you and the others will give U.A. a visit, and make certain that you will leave a mark on hero society. One that will enable your new beginning." The villain then looks at the recruits and says, "Do well, and you will all be rewarded wonderfully. With the good doctor more than willing to aid in the recovery of bodies or lost powers."
"Such a thing will be very fine for study." The doctor grins.
"So we just beat up a bunch of students?" Twice then makes erratic movement with his head. "Not cool. I'm in!"
"Yay!" Himiko cheers. "A chance to make new friends."
"Show those so-called prestige students that they aren't all that." Mustard grins.
"And show hero society what a farce it is." Spinner roars.
"Excellent." All For One gives a smile that no child should ever have. "Then get started and planning. So what if you have new bodies and Quirks. If this fragile society thinks that will stop you, then they are more foolish that they think. For with this change has brought more than just an oddity and weakness, but has created a fragile calm. One that we will all break."
I read the My Hero Academia SMASH Manga and thought, 'What would happen if they all switched bodies and Quirks in canon?'
So for utter fun and for the heck of it, I bring you this.
A story where those who changed bodies and if they're lucky (unlucky), new Quirks as well. With Miroriya losing One For All right off the get-go. Same happened with All For One, but he has better resources than most. Who else has changed and what else will occur, who knows. All I can say is that this story was given Crack and is now on high. Updates will vary greatly since this idea just came to me.
