~ Song Lyrics ~

~ I went to bed too late

and got up too soon

My poor head still spinnin'

from too much booze ~

Spike groaned when the sound of the door opening and closing woke him. He had done another round of "drink till he forgot the slayer" again last night and was paying for it this morning. He really hated hangovers.

"Why aren't you in school Nibblet?" He groaned when he smelled Dawn.

"It's Saturday." She said sitting on the bed and Spike groaned again, the movement of the bed made his head hurt.

Dawn regarded her vampire friend and secret crush. She wished that he would talk to her about what he was feeling instead of going to Willie's and getting drunk every night. She knew that he wished that he could have saved her sister from the tower, and he was under the misconception that he loved Buffy.

~ I got a foot in the gutter

A foot in the grave

I ain't seen home

In the last three days ~

Today was the first time in a about five or six days that he was actually in his crypt and she was relieved that he hadn't stayed out until sunrise as he had threatened shortly after Buffy's funeral. She doubted that he would tell her where he was, but was glad that he was home in one piece.

It had hurt to lose her sister, and it would hurt more to lose the vampire.

~ Oh my god look what the cat dragged in

Livin' my life sin after sin

Night rolls up and I do it again

Oh my god, look what the cat dragged in ~

He could smell the worry on Dawn and knew she was wondering he had been. He had been in LA for two days annoying his sire and the little humans that worked for Angel. He left when his sire threatened to treat him like Angelus.

~ No tell, motel, hotel bed

If it wasn't for the sunlight I'd swear I was dead ~

The next four days were spent in a LA hotel away from his pissed off sire and getting drunk in a variety of bars. He always barely returned to the hotel before sunrise and he still had a burn patch on his back from the last close call. He didn't heal as fast on pig blood, which really sucked after Glory got hold of him.

The vampire was startled out of his thoughts by warm fingers on his cheek. He looked up and met Dawn's eyes.

Dawn grabbed the knife he always kept in his boot and steeled her resolve. He needed blood to heal, and the pig's blood was not helping. She lightly cut her wrist and placed it against his mouth. Warmth ran through her at the feeling of his cool tongue on her wrist as he lapped the blood. Fangs rested against her skin, but didn't descend.

The power in her blood amazed him. He hadn't expected her key status to come through in her blood. He stopped fairly quickly to keep from draining her.
