That was unexpected
I've never been so into these garden parties that our teacher threw for us at the end of the school year.
Every year one of our teachers invites our self-defense class to a party at their house in their garden.
This year was different for me though.
I was actually looking forward to that end of school year party. And the reason was the teacher that would throw the party.
It was Dimitri Belikov. An extern hired self-defense teacher. He works full time at his own dojo, but because our school did not have enough intern teachers to be able to teach the class this year, they hired him.
The reason for my change of mind was the fact, that Dimitri was my boyfriend.
Although the headmistress knew about our relationship, we weren't allowed to show it to the whole school. Or at least we've got told that it would be in our best interest, for everybody, when the other students won't know about us.
Although it wasn't exactly against school policy, simply because we weren't getting grades in this voluntarily class and he wasn't an actual teacher, the headmistress nonetheless wasn't up to all the students and their parents, complaining about how inappropriate a relationship between a teacher and a student would be. Even though he actually wasn't a real teacher at our school, we tried to keep this away from public knowledge.
So to prevent any troubles that this would cause, we decided not to make our relationship official at the school.
Kirova wanted to talk to us, because she saw me kissing him the day he left her office after he'd just signed the papers needed for him to teach at the school.
Every time I think about the day that the headmistress wanted to talk to us, I remember us telling my parents about our relationship, not that long ago.
My parents reaction and hers have been very similar. The fact that Dimitri was 25 and I just turned 18 was causing a lot of trouble, especially in my family.
Flashback
"Hay, Mom? Dad? Are you home?" I asked as I entered our house.
"Yes, Rose. We're in the living room," my Mom called back.
Dimitri was waiting in the hallway of our house for me to let him inside the living room.
My parents knew that I was dating someone I've met during my self-defense class I took at the local dojo. But they had no clue that this someone was Dimitri, seven years older and my teacher.
Last week Dimitri and I decided that we would be telling my parents today. It was the best opportunity. They both just came back from a week of vacation at our beach house and wouldn't be stressed about work.
So hopefully they wouldn't totally flip out. My father was very protective over me, especially when it came to me dating guys.
"Hay, honey. How was school?" my father asked me.
"Good. How are your holidays? Still relaxing?" I asked, my voice shaking a little bit.
They seemed to notice it. "Why do you sound so nervous? What did you do this time?" my mother asked skeptical.
"Hey!" I exclaimed. "I'm not that bad. It's not that I always do something…"
They looked at me with a skeptical look and waited for me to continue.
"But you're right. There is something I want to tell you, or need to-"
My father rose to his feet and interrupted me. "You're pregnant, aren't you?"
As he said that my mother's face turned equally outraged.
"How could you let that happen, Rose, I thought-"
This time it was me who interrupted them. "I'm NOT pregnant!"
They didn't seem to be completely convinced, but let me continue telling them what I really wanted to say.
"Okay, now that you know that I'm not pregnant, I got to tell you something else." I took one last breath before speaking again.
"You know that I started dating this guy I met at the dojo for a month now…"
This time my mother interrupted. "So you ARE pregnant."
I shot her an angry look and she shrugged and held her hands up. "Okay, okay, I get it. Please go on."
"Anyway. We just want you to know we're officially in a relationship and therefore I want you to meet him." In my parents faces I could read that they were irritated, because I've never made such a fuss over them meeting my boyfriend.
"Ehm, I want you to remember that I'm 18 for three months now and that I'm not asking you for permission for our relationship. I just want to tell you and want you to meet him. He is waiting in the hallway and I'll let him in, in just a moment. There is just one last thing I want you to know before meeting him. Dimitri is very important to me… and he is actually 25 and our teacher at the dojo…"
For a few seconds it was completely silent, but then my parents rent on about how wrong this was. Not just that he is my teacher, but the fact that he is older. A lot older as they point it out.
Just when my father was threatening to kill Dimitri for being a creep and taking advantage of his little girl and wanted to call the police, my mother reached for the phone and took it away from my father and Dimitri walked into the living room.
"I'm sorry about this stress, but I want to introduce myself. I'm Dimitri Belikov and I just want to assure you that I would never take advantage of your daughter or do something she doesn't want to."
At the sight of me taking Dimitri's hand and him putting his arm around my waist caused my mother to launch forward to try to attack Dimitri, but this time my father was there to hold her back.
This whole thing went on about ten minutes, the whole time my parents were just screaming at him and accusing him to be a cradle robber.
When everything had settled down my parents needed another month to nearly accept the fact that I was with Dimitri.
End of flashback
I shook my head, this was a little longer than a year ago and now I'm back at the well-known street that I'm walking down to get to Dimitri's place.
Today was this said garden party.
We decided that I would be coming over for breakfast, because my parents had left this morning into their annual vacation at our beach house, to have a week alone, without me, which was just what I wanted. A week alone at home, with a pool, Dimitri and most importantly, without my parents. So today I drove them to the airport and now walked to Dimitri's.
I almost reached the front door, but heard Dimitri and another well-known voice arguing, so I hid behind the tree in his front yard. The voice belonged to Camille.
She was the schools head mean girl and she had a huge crush on Dimitri. Another fact why I couldn't stand her.
This year we've been over twenty students joining the self-defense class. You can say whatever you want, most of them were just there because of Dimitri and how hot he was, especially combined with his Russian accent. In comparison, we've been eight students the years before when Mr. Alto had been teaching this class. And most of the new students have been girls, most of them just gaping at the sight of my boyfriend.
The front door opened and Dimitri let Camille out. "Thank you for the holiday lights for tonight, but you shouldn't have to bring it here, Mr. Alto was supposed to bring it in the afternoon."
Camille just laughed as if what he had said had been oh-so-funny.
"But really Dimitri, it was a pleasure for me. This way you can set the decoration earlier… and maybe… have some time to relax before the rest arrives… we can talk a little or go have some coffee." As she said that, she bit her lip and played suggestively with her hair.
I couldn't believe it, she was flirting with my man. Sure, it's not that she knows that he's mine, but he had told our class, that he is in a very happy relationship when one girl had asked him during class.
Camille was such a bitch.
"Thank you, but that wouldn't be appropriate. First of all I'm your teacher-"
"Not anymore, not since school ended yesterday."
Continuing and without noticing her comment he said, "-and as I already told you, I am in a relationship and I'm very happy with her. So, let's just forget about your inappropriate offer and we'll see us in the afternoon again. Goodbye."
And with this, he closed the door and Camille turned around furiously. She muttered something under her breath and walked away, without noticing me.
My mood was down because of her trying to steal my man, but on the other hand I should be delighted by his phenomenal answer to her and the way he let her stand in front of his closed door.
I continued walking to his door and used my spare key, I got 5 months ago. We're together for over a year now, but still are acting like it has been only some weeks.
"Hey, Comrade, I'm hungry, so I hope that breakfast is ready," I called for him.
"Good morning, Roza," he said as he wrapped his arms around me and kissed me.
"Everything is set in the garden. So how was your morning? Did you bring your parents to the airport?" he asked as he took my hand and led me into the garden.
"My morning was good, until I just bumped into Camille, flirting with my boyfriend, wearing the sluttiest clothes she could possibly find. Being close to wearing nothing!"
He shook his head. "You know that you don't have to be jealous, Roza. You're the only one who is in my heart." I stood on my tiptoes and pecked his lips softly.
"I know, but I hate when I can't rub in her face that she should better back off or she'll get into some serious trouble, because you're mine."
We smiled and settled down on the bench and started breakfast.
After a while we finished, so we got up and started to set the decoration for the afternoon. We were finished after an hour.
"So, I think we are done. Now we still have some hours before the first people will come here. Do you have any idea what we could do with our time?" he asked suggestively and I grinned.
"We could use your bedroom, especially because we don't have clean up afterwards, because no one is going to be there later."
That makes him laugh. "I think that we would have to tidy it up afterwards anyway. But we have plenty of time now and we can take a shower before they're coming."
As said as done, we loved each other on his bed and cuddled afterwards. Then we headed to the bathroom as it was time to get ready and made love in the shower, again.
I really enjoy spending time with Dimitri, even more when we showed our feelings we shared, expressing how much we loved each other.
He had been my first and I never regretted it. After some more time went by, we weren't exactly in stress, but really needed to start getting ready, if we didn't want to get surprised by the other teachers and students arrival.
None of them knew that Dimitri and I were a couple.
This evening was going to be interesting.
It's not the first time we're spending time around other people who don't know about us, but it was different this time.
The party was in his house… one of the few places where we never had to hide our love. Every time we spend time here, I always felt free to show him my affection towards him. But today I felt like I really needed to remind myself that there would be other guests and that we couldn't let them see how we really felt, how close we really were.
Dimitri was already downstairs waiting for our guests, while I was in his bathroom that was attached to his bedroom, finishing up my makeup. Since we figured that none of the guests would be using this bathroom, only the other one at the other site of the floor, I left all my makeup up in here.
Anyway we could still say it's his girlfriend's, which wouldn't be a lie. I mean as if someone would know by looking at the utensils that this was my makeup anyway.
However, I made my way downstairs and that was when the doorbell rang the first time this afternoon. He gave me a small smile and a quick kiss before he opened the door.
Alberta was standing in front of him. She was one if the other self-defense teachers, but hadn't been able to step in, since she was seven months pregnant.
"Hello, Dimitri. Thank you for the invite. This is my husband John." She said gesturing towards the man standing behind her, having his hand at her at the small of her back.
"Hello, nice to meet you, Dimitri." John greeted him, both shaking hands as they walked inside.
"It's my pleasure meeting you. Please come in and feel yourself at home. Is there anything that I could do for you Alberta?" She shook her head.
"Oh. Hello, Rose. You're already here… and I thought we would be too early." She said with a smile. I shook her hand and greeted John as well.
Then my look fell onto a picture at Dimitri's table in the hallway. It was one of us, kissing at one of his mother's garden parties. We had obviously forgot about this one when we put away all of our photos we had together.
Dimitri met my gaze and then saw the picture as well. He immediately took John and Alberta outside, showing them the garden where we were going to celebrate.
Quickly I took the frame with the picture and went upstairs to hide it where all the others were already hidden.
By the time I got back downstairs, the three of them came back inside and the doorbell rang again.
That's how it went for the next twenty-five minutes. The more guests arrived, the less awkward the situation got.
Another hour later almost everyone was there. When I just let Lissa and Christian in, both of them knowing about my relationship, since Lissa was my best friend and Christian was her boyfriend, I couldn't have kept it a secret.
Just when we reached the living room the doorbell rang again and I sighed and went to open it, as I saw Dimitri being in a deep conversation with one of our teachers about some stupid western novels.
Even after all this time I still couldn't get over his silly obsession over westerns, country music and his stupid duster.
Although I loved the way his duster looked on him and even though I would never admit it, but since listening to his country music for over a year, I kind of really started to like this music. But as I just said, I would never admit it.
Dimitri would never let me forget about it. Ever.
I opened the door and as soon as I saw who was standing there in front of me, I wanted to smash the door close.
Camille and her mean girl clique stood at Dimitri's doorstep and I had no other choice but to let them in. They all ignored me as always and stalked in, directly heading over to where Dimitri was standing. Although he tried his best to hide his annoyance from the other ones, it was clear to see for me.
It was funny how we both were able to read each other's faces, when the majority wasn't able to see the true feelings we tried to hide behind our masks.
Immediately and no matter the fact that all of our other teachers were standing around her, Camille started to flirt with him. This really made me want to vomit on her pretty close-to-nothing dress and punch her in the face. Before I could lose my temper and do something I would be regretting afterwards, Lissa and Christian came to save me.
The only reason that made me keep my anger in check, was the fact that I knew that these girls could do whatever they wanted to do. I knew Dimitri, and I knew that he doesn't have a thing for girls like them. He loved me and they could never change this.
But it still bothered me that he had been the only reason for them to join the self-defense class in the first place. And then all these things they said and how they looked at him. As if he was a piece of meat. I mean, yes, that was exactly how I looked at him, but he was my piece of meat and I love him, because of more than just his looks.
I love him because even after a year he still looked at me like I was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. He was smart and funny and although he seemed to be this perfectly in check Russian God, I knew that underneath all this, he was vulnerable, sweet, loving and caring for the ones he loved and cared about. He had this amazing smile that made me melt away and he saved it just for me and his family. He never let go of making me feel like the most special girl, like I was everything to him. And he knew that I loved him just the same and that I would die for him, just as he would do for me.
Even if we were different people around others, when we were together we could be the person we really were, be ourselves, be vulnerable, without being afraid to get hurt.
That was something I loved about him as well, he always puts his loved ones first. I had rarely seen him putting himself first. You would never guess what he had already been through in his life just from how strong he was, despite his past.
He was the most beautiful, generous and amazing guy I have ever met.
He was the love of my life.
So I think it was reasonable why I got upset at the girls for thinking and actually trying to get a chance from him, to get him and be with him. As if they would stand a chance. Like ever.
However it was part of my fault. Dimitri wanted to make our relationship official. He mentioned it a few weeks ago after I caught Camille trying to hook up with him… again… for the millionths time.
Flashback
I walked out of the changing room, just to see Camille all over my man again. But I wasn't able to hear much of their conversation.
"-don't you want to see this. You have to understand this-" I heard Dimitri's voice, the voice I would always recognize out of a hundred voices.
"No, you have to understand. I know how you feel, I just feel the same way about you. In a few weeks we will be able to live out our love for each other, because you won't be our teacher anymore by then. So we won't have to hide our feelings anymore." she said and took a step closer to him with every word she said. As she tried to stand on her tiptoes to try and kiss him, I was about to be ready to punch her and knock her out. I started to storm towards her, with rage making my vision blur.
It was her luck that I just happened to trip over one of the benches we had to put away when leaving the gym, which she must have let stand in the middle of the floor to hit on my boyfriend.
Before I could seriously hit my head against the bench standing next to where my head would hit, I felt two strong arms catching me.
I looked up to find Dimitri grinning down at me. "Getting taken down by a bench, Roza?" he asked with an amused smile on his lips.
Although none of the other students knew about our relationship, they knew that I was also taking a class at his dojo and therefore no one wondered why he was calling me Roza instead of Rose or Ms. Hathaway.
"Hahaha, very funny Comrade," I muffled under my breath so only he could hear it.
He helped me stand again and let go of me.
Camille shot me a look that told me she wanted to kill me in this moment.
Good. Anyway I succeeded my goal and got her away from my man.
She stormed off, leaving the gym, still furious.
Dimitri let out a breath beside me.
"Thank you for saving me. She doesn't seem to get the message. Are you okay, or did the bench hurt you?" he said bravely, half concerned and half amused. He was brave as I said.
I smacked his shoulder and he laughed.
"I can't believe that she really wanted to hit on you." I said still outraged about her nerve to try to kiss my boyfriend. "I understand that she doesn't know about us, but she does know that you are already taken and happy." Still making a face I looked up to him as he began talking, taking me into his arms.
"Although she had a point." My face went angry again as he said that.
"No. Not the way you think. I don't feel anything like this for her." He tried to assure me, although I hadn't really doubt it for a second. "I mean the fact that I won't be your teacher by the end of the school year, in just a few months." Now I looked at him confused, not sure where this was going.
"We tried and hid our relationship for the last year so your self-defense class would have a teacher and we could spend more time together. But I think that it would be time to open up about us. It hasn't been illegal for us to be together from the beginning and Headmistress Kirova just wanted to prevent stress so she strongly advised us to keep this under the radar."
He kissed me gently on the lips before he continued.
"So, I thought whether we should stop hiding at the garden party… I mean I'm not your teacher, it has never been against the law and we are at my home. Our home. I think it might be nice to not have to hide anymore…"
By now he looked a little bit shy as he finished his rambling. I could never understand how such a handsome and tall man could feel and look so shy.
With my hands I reached up to cup his face and looked at him with all my love. "I know it sucks and I don't want anything more than to take your hand when we are walking or kissing you when I feel like it…" I could already see his mask fall in place and his posture stiff a little, as he tried to hide it from me.
"But I'm not sure we should do this. Especially so soon after this school year stopped. I'm so sorry, Comrade. You have to believe me that I love you and I want to be with you and I want all those bitches to know that you are mine… but…" I sighed. "I don't know… I think, although I know I shouldn't care, I'm afraid of what they are going to say or do when they find out that we have been a thing this whole year. Please don't go and think that I'm ashamed or something, I really love you and I need you to believe me when I say that my heart is with you and that I need yo-" Now it was my turn to ramble. But Dimitri just chuckled slightly and stopped me with a kiss, filled with his adoration for me. "Roza, you really are silly. Do you really doubt that I wouldn't want you and walk away instead of staying by you, just because you're having this irrational fear of how they could react?!" he chuckled again and kissed me with pure love and passion. We stayed like this a little longer and then let go of each other to head to his home. Our home, as he just pointed out.
End of flashback
Even though we had this conversation back then and I had been the one to want to keep this a secret, doesn't mean that I wasn't allowed to be pissed off by other girls hitting on my man. Dimitri could escape his fan club and headed into the kitchen to get the rest of the food outside so we could start having the barbecue.
Soft music was playing in the background and the garden was full of people, standing in little groups, talking and some were even dancing on the improvised dancefloor. The atmosphere was amazing.
We all just enjoyed being here having fun and looking forward to the summer break that had actually started yesterday.
"Hey, Comrade. Need any help?" I asked, coming into the kitchen as well. He smiled as he saw me entering. "Hey. No, thank you. Today you are just another guest here, Roza. So just relax and enjoy the evening." After he quickly looked around to see if someone was able to watch us, he gave me a quick kiss on my cheek.
I smiled and rolled my eyes at his comment.
This moment Camille and her gang decided to come inside and saw me smiling as I watched Dimitri leave.
"Oh look, guys. It's Rose, smiling at Dimitri. Looks like she's got a thing for him." Laughing sarcastically she now turned to me, standing in front of me. "But listen, you'll never stand a chance. He's mine, so you better back off bitch. He's mine and you'll never be able to change that." She turned on her heals and walked away.
I didn't thought it was funny, but I had to smile a weak smile as she said a version of the things I wanted to tell her.
But unlike her I really had Dimitri's heart.
Back outside I heard Camille talk to some of the other girls from our class. "Of course I immediately found the house. I mean I had already had been here before, so…" Camille turned her head and shot me a look as I hadn't been able to hold back my laugh at her pure exaggeration of the events this morning. I very sure knew that she had never been here before today.
Anyway the other girls seemed to be impressed. "Had you already been inside? He has such a beautiful house. The decoration is typical for him and just shows what good sense of taste he has… Unlike others being present."
She again tried to hit me with her statement, but again it also made me start to giggle. If Camille would know that Karolina, Dimitri's sister, and I had been the ones to decorate and renovate his house a few month ago and that if it would be like Dimitri had planned it, there would only be a few book shelters for his stupid westerns and an armchair with a lamp in the corner. That's it, not a single pretty decoration hanging around, except for the pictures of us and his family hanging on the wall.
But this just showed how little she actually knew him.
Camille started talking again and this time Lissa and Christian came to sit by me. "I mean I'm really sorry that this class is over this year and that next year Alberta will continue teaching it, but I mean, Dimitri and I will continue seeing each other very often, you'll see. He is just a man after all and can't resist me, no matter how hard he tries not to give into his desire." Camille's voice was heard, even over the music.
I couldn't help but to roll my eyes and speak up.
"He might be a man, but as you remember, he said that he is in a happy relationship and doesn't want to change that, so what makes you so sure that his love isn't stronger than your slutty, pathetic actions?" I asked.
She just shrugged a little. "How come then that there are no pictures of them where he looks completely happy with her?" she grinned devilishly as she saw my confused face.
"What photos are talking about? There are no pictures of them hanging around…" I said now very nervous.
Did we forgot another photo? But if so, how come she wasn't furious at me and was seeming very happy to know, or at least thinking to know, that he wasn't happy in his relationship.
"Come on in, I'll show you." She said and I shrugged as I followed her back inside.
"Here it is. His girlfriend. If you ask me he deserves better, I mean she's not even beautiful or anything but unappealing."
When I took a look at the photo she pointed at, I busted out laughing. Everyone around us started watching me. "What is wrong with you?" Camille asked.
"You… You are really thinking that this is his… his girlfriend..." I pressed out between all the laughter and tried to sober up.
"You do know, that this is his sister Sonja, right?" I asked a little more serious this time.
"How would you know that you little stalker bitch?" she accused me.
"First of all, I am not the stalker, you are. And second of all, she once came to school, when he forgot his keys for his house at their mother's house. You could know that as well, if you would have paid any attention to the self-defense class itself and not just the teacher himself."
Without a warning she slapped me and I had to pull together the whole strength I had not to slap her back. But I promised my Comrade I wouldn't cause drama.
So I counted to ten, tried to even my breath and I stepped back outside to hear Dimitri thank everyone for coming and opening the barbecue.
"Oh, I just forget the silverware inside. Roza could you please get it." I nodded and turned around just to see Camille sprinting inside before me to get a hold of it first. But she had no clue where the silverware was and searched for it everywhere.
"Why don't you just try this drawer?" I said, pointing at the right drawer.
"Don't act like you know anything here." she hissed, opened it and shot a glare at me.
"Every dog has his day." She put her nose in the air and took out the forks and the knives, but couldn't find the spoons. We had to clean them earlier today so they were already in one of the glasses we wanted to stack the silverware in.
This time I walked around the kitchen counter and stood on my tiptoes and reached on top of the sheave to get down the glass full of spoons and the empty ones for the rest.
"Here, put the rest in those and we'll put them outside."
If looks could kill, I would drop dead immediately thanks to Camille.
My mood started to rise throughout the evening.
The party has been going on for almost three hours now and I had been inside to load the dish washer, although I knew Dimitri didn't liked it, considering the look he gave me as he saw me tidying up.
"You are just a guest here today, Roza. Why don't you behave as such?!" He gave me a look to make me stop, but I just shook my head and continued. "I have done this hundreds of times now, Comrade, it just doesn't feel right to let it stand here. Anyway it's not like I don't have to do it later nonetheless." I winked at him. He sighed in frustration as some teachers came inside.
"Can we book you as well Rose? You're at a party and you are cleaning up, that's what I call manners. But where are these at school?" Hans Croft asked with a small smile on his face.
"I can't always behave well, so I decided since Dimitri had been so generous to invite us into his house, the least I could do is to help him clean up a little."
Everyone laughed and they went back outside.
Some other students came inside, looking for the toilet and I showed them. As well as some teachers looking for some glasses, which I gave them as well. When they asked me how I knew all these things, I just said something like 'I already had to use the bathroom' or 'Dimitri told me, when I asked him earlier'. It was a crazy feeling to know all of this, because this house was my second home, but having to pretend to be just a visitor.
And when I went upstairs to get my keys, so I could open up the little garden house for us to sit in when it would get cold in some hours, I startled as I heard a voice behind me. It was Jill, a younger girl from our class. "We're not allowed to go in there. That is Dimitri's bedroom." She said, but looking very shy when she talked to me. "It's okay Jill, Dimitri actually asked me to go and get his keys from in here."
She still seemed to be unsure whether she should believe me or not. When I was about say something else, I heard Dimitri's voice from behind Jill.
"Roza, did you find the keys?" he stopped as Jill looked up at him as he got up the stairs.
"I almost have them. Jill was just a little concerned about me going into your room after you said no one was allowed in there." We shared a smirk and my minds went back to what we had just done in his, or actually our room and my smile got dirty. Dimitri noticed this and smiled back, but then talked to Jill.
"That's nice of you, but I really told Roza to get my keys for me. You want to go back downstairs with me and have something to eat from the barbecue?" he asked Jill, since she doesn't seem to have been downstairs eating the whole evening. She just nodded and after I gave Dimitri my keys we all went back down. He and Jill went outside, while I finished the dishwasher.
Before getting the tabs out of the shelve under the sink, my phone buzzed with a message sent by my father, letting me know, that they had a good flight and are now going to have dinner at the restaurant near by our summer house. I answered quickly, also informing them that I would spend the night over at Dimitri's and then got back to work.
Then Camille walked inside again, but this time following Dimitri. None of them saw me as I'd still been taking out the tabs for the dishwasher from under the sink.
She was pulling at his arm and tried to kiss him again, but this time she used both of her hands to cup his face and pull him closer. That was my cue to get up. I turned her around by her shoulder and smack her in the face. Her cheek was burning red as she looked at me again.
"You have seen this Dimitri. She just attacked me for no reason! You are such a sick bitch!"
By now she was screaming and some of the other people came in, alarmed by Camille's screaming.
"I'll make you pay for this, you'll see. Just because you're jealous that he wants me not you. Everybody can see how you try so pathetic to get his attention, but it's hopeless. There is nothing you can do about his feelings. They will never change no matter what you do or how hard you try!"
That was it, I slapped her on the other cheek and made a decision.
"You know what? You're right for once, but even a broken clock is right twice a day." Although she was still shocked from my second slap, she seemed delighted because she thought I had just admitted to what she had said.
"You're right about his feelings for me and how they wouldn't change no matter what I try, or for the matter of facts, no matter what someone else tries. But you were wrong as well." Now it was my turn to grin and everyone around us was just starring at us, unsure what this will lead to.
Dimitri seemed to know what I was up to and gave me a supportive look and a small smile.
"But you don't know how he feels about me and you are definitely wrong about his feelings for you and me being jealous. Unlike what you think, he loves me. As a matter of fact, we're together for over a year and you are the pathetic bitch that is just jealous and can't accept the fact that someone doesn't wants her back. So now I would really appreciate if you could leave your hands off of my man!" and with that I walked outside again, but not before giving Dimitri a kiss in front of everyone.
I could see his smile, as he watched me head outside. Everyone else was just too surprised and shocked to say something or was already chatting about what had happened.
Camille walked outside and just screamed 'Liar!' at me, as the garden door opened and there stood Dimitri's family.
Everyone just starred at them, until Paul, Karolina's son and Dimitri's nephew, ran up to me. "Aunt Roza!" he squealed and I pulled him into my arms. "What are you guys doing here?" I asked no one in particular.
"Dimka invited us." Viktoria, Dimitri's younger sister, answered and came to greet and hug me. I then greeted Dimitri's mother Olena, his older sisters Sonja and Karolina and his grandmother Yeva.
"Where is my son anyway?" Olena asked.
"Comrade still has to be inside." I said, feeling everyone's gazes on my back. Without another word to her, I walked beside Camille and just pushed her one last time with my shoulder. The other guests got back to their conversations or dancing as I led the Belikovs into the house. Dimitri was just finishing putting our framed pictures of us back to where they belonged.
He looked up as we entered the living room.
"Hey, Mama, guys." He greeted everyone and then told them to get outside to grab some food.
When I wanted to follow them he stopped me, grabbing my arm and pulling me back to face him.
"You got some explaining to do. What was that with Camille? Why did you have to slap her?"
He asked, not really sounding that upset about me slapping Camille.
"I don't know…" I said truthfully.
"She was bickering me the whole evening and talking about how she'll make you hers. Then she claims to know everything about you when she doesn't even know the slightest about you. She thought that Sonja was your girlfriend and that you looked like you aren't happy in your relationship and then she slapped me as I told her she was wrong and how she's the stalker-ish bitch not me."
Now he looked shocked at me.
"Wait a second… she slapped you? And you apparently walked away? I mean until a few minutes ago."
I nodded. "I'm very proud of you and although I'm not really allowed to tell you this, because I used to be your teacher, she really deserved to be slapped."
He hugged me and kiss the top of my head.
"But you really shouldn't let her get to you like that."
"I know," I sighed. "Normally it's not that bad, but today she could barely take her hands off of you and then she was flirting, like her life would depend on that… and I just had to stand there and act like I don't have any right to be jealous!" I ranted.
"You're jealous? At her?"
I ignored this and continued.
"But after she slapped me and then again tried to kiss you, I just lost my temper. I know that I wasn't supposed to cause a scene, but with her constant bitching, I couldn't help. I even tried to count to ten."
I could slightly feel him chuckle as he started talking again. "You know that you don't have to be jealous and I actually think it turned out to be good that you have caused this scene, so now everyone knows we are happily in love and you can officially tell the girls to back off, but so can I.. Finally I can tell the guys to back off now as well."
We looked into each-other's eyes and smiled.
"I love you, Comrade!"
"I love you, too, Roza!"
Hand in hand we turned back and went outside. Everyone went back to normal as nothing had happened and talked to Dimitri's and my family and had fun all together.
Everyone but Camille.
She walked over to us, still not convinced about our relationship.
"I'm sorry, Dimitri. I never wanted you to witness what this psychotic whore made up and then kissed you, without you wanting her to do that and-" that was when she stopped and held her leg. Paul had run over to her and kicked her against the left leg.
"Aunt Roza is not a psychotic whore!" he screamed at Camille while kicking her.
Although we all laughed, Dimitri tried to be the reasonable, responsible adult and looked at Paul. "That's not nice and you're not allowed to something like this." But his eyes gave it away for everyone to see, that he wasn't upset, but proud and amused.
"But you're also right. Roza is no such person. But honestly when she gets jealous it is dangerous for everyone around her." And after a short pause he added, "Or when she's trying to cook."
His family started to laugh and I hit his side with my elbow.
Camille was furiously now and stomped with her feet, just to storm out of the garden, followed by her mean girls gang.
As she stormed off another woman came in with a baby in her arms. Dimitri looked up and then rose to his feet and stormed towards her. I had no idea who she was.
"Oksana!" Dimitri exclaimed. "What are you doing here? I thought you are living in Scotland now?"
The woman laughed. "And who's this?" Dimitri looked down at the baby in her arm.
"We just wanted to visit you, so you could meet Mark and our newest family member. This is Ivan."
Olena was next to Dimitri in no time and hugged Oksana and then took the baby and showed it to Viktoria, Karolina, Sonja and Yeva. Dimitri and Oksana came over to where I stood.
"Oksana, this is Roza, my girlfriend. Roza, this is Oksana, my cousin."
"It's nice to meet you." She said as she hugged me.
"You too." I answered. We sat down and talked about their life in Scotland and that Mark is just going to bring their luggage to Olena's house. Apparently Olena had been the only one to know that they were coming.
After another hour a man came into the garden. As I looked up, I thought I saw a ghost. The man stopped as his gaze met mine and now I was the one to get up and ran to him.
He pulled me into his strong arms and twirled me around.
"Sparkle?! What are you doing here? I thought you're a teacher in Russia?" I asked.
"Smartie! I lived in Russia, but met the love of my life, got married, moved to Scotland, got a son and now we're here to meet my new family. But I could ask you the same! Why are you here at my in-law's house?"
Now I started to register the others around us again. They all gave us an irritated look.
"Sparkle?" Oksana asked looking from her husband to me.
"Smartie?" Dimitri asked, raising one eyebrow at me and giving Mark an unpleasant look.
"I guess you know each other?" he pointed out.
Mark and I laughed and he said, "You could say so."
"We kind of have a long history." I said, I couldn't resist to play a little bit with my Comrade.
"Ah. Really." Was all he said, but the real message came through his eyes.
Laughing again, Mark said, "Rose is my niece!" Now everyone around us was irritated.
"Mark is my father's brother, but we lost contact when he went to Russia." I explained, giving him an accusatory look.
Now it was Mark's turn to be irritated.
"But anyway, what are doing here?"
I pulled my arms around Dimitri's waist as he stepped closer to stand right next to me.
"I'm Rose's boyfriend and her self-defense teacher. And Oksana's Cousin." Dimitri introduced himself, before I could say anything.
Mark gave him a funny look at the mentioning of him being my teacher.
Olena then broke the awkward silence, "Oh, how small this world is."
We talked for a while, while most teachers and students went back home.
"Hay, Lissa, Christian. I didn't knew you were here, too. Well, greet your families. Maybe we'll see each other in the next few days again." Mark waved at the two of them as they said their goodbyes.
By now everyone was gone but our family. I was heading towards the kitchen as I overheard Mark and Dimitri talking in the kitchen.
"Wow, I never knew you had a niece." Dimitri said.
"Yes, and I never knew she was my older in-law's girlfriend." They were silent for a moment and I wanted to finally get inside, when suddenly Mark started talking again.
"I just want to make sure that you know that if you'll hurt her or break her heart, then I'll hurt you… Even though you're my wife's cousin."
Dimitri wanted to answer him, but then I decided to stop this conversation and came inside.
I cleared my throat and looked Mark into the eyes, "Thank you, but that wasn't necessary. I can take care of myself, Sparkle." I gave him a look that said I-am-not-kidding.
He just shrugged his shoulders. "It's my responsibility to do that. I am your uncle. Not only that, but I am also your Godfather and that means the double responsibility. And I am also representing your father right now and anyway you haven't been supposed to hear this at all. This was a conversation between two men."
"Which men? I can't see them." I said acting sheepishly.
They both attacked me. At first Mark who was standing closer to me.
"Just wait, Smartie! You'll get your share for that comment." He said as he tickled my sides.
I squealed away into my Comrades arms who just continued tickling me. "Please stop, Comrade, you're supposed to save me!" When he didn't stop, I had to use my joker. "Stop, or you won't get happy any time soon." That made him stop, but just to pull me into his arms, kiss my cheek and whisper in my ear, "You'll see just how happy you make me when we're alone…" With this he let go of me and I was getting turned on.
That was until Mark made a snarky comment about how he did not wanted to hear this.
We all went into the living room, the rest came inside as well.
After some time they all decided to go home all together, since it was already late.
"Good night Smartie! Hopefully we'll see us in the next few days."
"Of course, I'll be staying here the next weeks, since my parents are at their annual vacation."
All of us hugged goodbye as Paul tugged on my arm. "Why do you two call each other Smartie and Sparkle?"
Everyone seemed to be interested so I told them that when I was a little girl I was obsessed with Smarties and Mark always brought me some when we were together. And then he told them about how my father always read me a story with a dog named Sparkle and since I loved him so much, just as much as I said I loved my uncle, I called him Sparkle ever since.
Then they all went home and I was left alone with Dimitri.
"Well I guess we've been afraid all for nothing. Everyone knows now and nobody seems to care." I nodded and he nuzzled his head between my shoulder and my neck.
"That was an eventful day and the story you told was very sweet, you Smartie Roza."
I hugged him with all the power I had left.
"I'm so in love with you, I hope you know that. You're my man and your love is worth more than everything I'll ever have. You were always there for me, when I needed you most, whenever I looked over my shoulder, you were always there to be my rock. I love you more than anything!"
We kissed fiercely and put our whole love and passion in it.
"You are my life, Roza. You are so beautiful that it hurts me sometimes. Just the slightest glance of you takes my breath away. I could never life without you. Just say you won't let go and I'll be the happiest man alive."
"I won't let go."
"Neither will I." he simply said.
I then took my shirt off and started to go to the stairs.
He looked me over, his gaze roaming over my body up and down.
"See something you like, Comrade?" I asked him tentatively.
"Lots." He answered, taking me into his arms, brining me upstairs, so we could spend the night proving our love for each other, not that it needed such proofs anymore.
pected
