A knock sounded at her door and Lucy looked up from the stack of papers she had been writing on. She stood up as the person on the other side of the door knocked again this time much louder. "Geeze, I'm coming," she muttered as Lucy made her way to her apartment door.

Lucy pushed the door opened, she stepped back as she viewed a specific pink-haired male on the other side, "Natsu," Lucy said in confusion, "Since when do you knock? Or use the door for that matter." she raised an eyebrow and closed the door behind Natsu as he entered, Happy following shortly in tow.

"Since just now, I decided to try to be courteous, but I don't think like it," Natsu flopped himself onto the couch and closed his eyes.

"Well, if you came just to take a nap, I think I'll go back to what I was working on," Lucy said as she turned away from the boy.

After a moment Natsu bolted upright, "I just remembered what I was here to do, last night a had an important realization!"

Happy snickered.

"And what might that be?" Lucy said, sitting back down at her desk, only half listening.

"Do you remember the other day when we were going to town to buy stuff and this dude was totally hitting on you?"

"Yeah, you almost beat him up," Lucy said, tapping her pencil on her chin.

"Well, anyways that made me decide something."

"Uh hu."

"I didn't like other guys flirting with you."

Lucy was listening closer now, "What are you getting at?"

"I think I wanna marry you."

The room silenced; Lucy's pencil clattered to the floor, she turned around slowly to see Natsu intensely staring at her.

"Geeze Lady," Happy said, covering his ears, "No need to make such a big scene!"

"Really!" Lucy said exasperatedly, "Because if I heard that correctly, Natsu. Natsu just proposed to me."

Natsu scratched the back of his head, "Yeah, it's not that big of a deal, we're practically already married."

"What do you mean," Lucy scrunched her eyebrows.

"We're always together, you haven't dated anyone in like years, so it's not like I've got any competitors. We practically live together," Natsu shrugged, "It wouldn't be all that different than it is now if we were married."

"Then why do you want to get married?" Lucy folded her arms.

"I dunno, I just do."

"It's cuz he looooooves you." Happy said in a sing-song voice overhead.

"Shut up, you stupid cat!" Lucy gave Happy the death glare.

"So, what if I do," Natsu mumbled quietly almost inaudibly.

"What was that?" Lucy said, leaning closer to the boy.

"Nothing, so, wanna get married?"

Natsu was taken aback by her response, "What do you mean."

"Just that," Lucy stood up and took a calming breath, "You're going to have to do a heck of a lot of a better proposal than that if you want me to marry you," she began to walk towards the door, "I'm going to the guild hall, you're welcome to join me."

Natsu gaped as Lucy walked away.

After an hour or so of gaping, Natsu found himself sitting at the bar in the guild, his arms sprawled across the counter and his cheek pressed into the wood, "I can't believe she rejected me."

Happy giggled, "I can, Lucy is a hopeless romantic and that proposal was anything but romantic."

"I know but I mean, I didn't think she'd say no, I mean what's she going to do, it's not like she'd ever marry anyone else. It's me or being single forever."

"Who knows, maybe she likes some of the other guys in the guild," Happy shrugged his small blue shoulders.

"Like who?"

"But he's with Juvia."

"He and Levy are a thing."

"Ew no, she definitely can't like him."

"Well, maybe she just isn't interested in you."

"Natsu?" A voice said from above him finally causing him to look up from his position face planted into the counter, Mirajane stood behind the bar, cleaning the tabletop, "What are you doing?"

"He's moping because Lucy totally turned him down," Happy said, not attempting to hide his snicker.

Mirajane raised her eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

Natsu grumbled Happy laughed, "Turns out Lucy doesn't want to marry him."

Mirajane, surprisingly didn't seem surprised, she scratched her chin, "Ah so that's what she was grumbling about earlier. Something about Natsu weddings, and that stupid cat, and I didn't catch it I think there was also something about a tree."

"Not sure what's up with the tree," Natsu paused, "Where'd she go? I wanna try something again."

"She took a quick mission, she'll be back by the end of the day, said she needed to clear her head," Mirajane continued to clean the table.

Natsu made a little pouty face, "We always go on missions together."

"If I'm not mistaken, she's pretty upset with you, I wouldn't try anything for a bit."

"Fine," Natsu stood up and turned towards the exit, "Common Happy, let's go."

"HE DID WHAT?!" Already having one foot out the door, Natsu abruptly turned around, to see a very angry-looking redheaded girl.

"Natsu?" Happy said, looking at Erza over his shoulder.

"I don't know what we did but I think we should probably run."

The two bolted out the door in a blur of pink and blue.

About two seconds after they left the guild, Natsu was jolted backward, someone's hand grabbing his collar.

Natsu looked up sheepishly to see Erza giving him the death glare, "Explanation, now."
