Wow. Just wow. The amount of follows, favourites and reactions I got from the last chapter were, to put it lightly, massive. Over 5.23k of you read it in one day alone! Like, holy hell! You guys really are glad this story is back, huh? Well, I'm happy this is the case and good for you because there will be more in the future!
But as I always do, it's time for some comments before we begin!
Anthony Galupo: Yeah, it makes sense if Mordred was a caster to act like ruler Skadi in a way. But yeah.
Hipok: What's worse than a cliffhanger? An Omake with a cliffhanger! But yes, it is good to be back to working on this story!
Misaka Phenex: I suppose so. This Mordred is more calm and clear thinking from her years on Remnant. That and being a caster makes her less… reckless. Probably. Maybe…
DERMONIAN: Now, now, why should I spoil the surprise? :3
Zet4: To be fair, this Morgan and Baobhan Sith are from the original Lostbelt and not from that version of Morgan who found her realm connected to Remnant. It is understandable why they don't recognise her since they have never met before. Don't worry. In the future, there will be interactions between Mordred, Morgan and Baobhan eventually.
Dragon Of The Ecplising Moon: Good to be back! And just curious, when will you update Fate of Justice or The Shielder of DxD? I like those two and would appreciate to see them updated.
Nullblaster: Well, I hope you enjoy reading this!
ArguableReader: Yes, I am! And I'm happy you enjoyed it dearly, and more to come!
Pdena23: I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope to see you in the review later!
And we are done. Like with my other stories and this one, I do not own RWBY or any of the Fate series. All of them belong to their respective owners as such.
Beginning of a New Era
Mordred POV
By the time I got home with Fou, it was close to evening since I figured I should take some time to explore Vale further and enjoy my time for a bit before heading home. And I can tell from the looks of everyone that they all were looking forward to the 40th Vytal Festival. How unfortunate that unless I do something, that beacon of hope (Heh.) and unity would be utterly obliterated by Salem and her minions.
When I got home, I gave that little Fou a thirty-minute lecture about not following my orders and how his actions, while understandable about wanting to get out of the house, could cause more attention to be on us. Which is not what I wanted at the moment thank you! The little fluff ball was understandably acting like a child who got scolded by their parents, but it needs to be done!
And to cheer him up, I gave some snacks to him before I found myself staring out into the orange sky to think. But even if I wanted to, I was itching to fight something. No… I can't let that happen yet. I've been acting on reaction when I should be thinking it through…
Speaking of which, I should call Ruler and inform her of Archer's presence in Vale. Perhaps then, we can plan our next move or figure out what to do there. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan… Ah, that makes me wonder. How many servants are there in Remnant at this point?
Speaking of knowing other servants, I should ask Ruler if she met any of them besides me.
Glancing out at the streets below and how people are doing their own thing, I turned and walked back to see Fou back in bed, watching the screen with several nuts right in front of him. You know, it is a wonder how Fou seem to understand the world around him and seeing him so engrossed in what's on the news is funny to me.
Grabbing my scroll, I called Ruler as it rang for a few seconds before she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Yo, Ruler!" I called out with a smile before I imagined her smiling back at me.
"Ah Saber! What can I do for you?" Ruler asked while I leaned against the wall with a cup of water.
"Got some stuff I need to share with ya." I said before taking a sip. "Found another Servant in Vale that I think you might be interested in."
For a moment, I swore I heard the sound of a surprise gasp from her, followed by the scroll bouncing on something. Whatever happened there, Ruler seemed to have it under control. "Really? Another Servant in Vale?"
"Yup," I confirmed with a subtle nod. "I found him working in a cafe, but I still don't know his class yet." I gave a half-lie to Ruler. I shouldn't do that, but I don't need her to know of my unique condition just yet.
"Is that so?" Jeanne hummed as she continued. "Interesting…"
"Yeah, imagine my surprise when I ran into him in a cafe, of all places. But I digress. I need to ask ya something." I asked before leaning my head against the wall with my eyes closed. "Have you met anyone like us here?" And what she said sent shivers up my spine.
"I have. Two of them, I must say." Jeanne took a pause before she continued. "I've met Assassin and Berserker… Both serve under the same master from what I can tell, but Berserker is a familiar face." So, she had met Danzou already? Huh… And who is Berserker, and why did she say she's a familiar face?
I found myself in silence while I searched through my memories. Back in the Great Holy Grail War, Atalanta was the only one that fit the picture. And from what I know, Atalanta has an Alter form, which is classified as a Berserker. And from what Ruler has said, she's here.
Oh boy.
I felt myself letting out a sigh. "Wonderful. Just wonderful, now who do you think is their master?" I asked, yet all I got was uncertainty from Ruler.
"I do not know, Saber. All I know is that something big is happening here eventually."
"Yeah…" Our conversation came to a close right before I changed the topic. "So… Ruler, where ya at right now?" I asked next.
"On an airship to Vale. I will probably be there in a couple of days. Perhaps you could introduce me to this unknown Servant?" Ruler hums.
"Sure, you won't hear any complaints from me, though that fella's a snarky bastard, so watch out for that." I chuckled and swore for a moment. I heard a stifled giggle coming from the other side of the scroll.
"Of course, I- wait a minute." Huh? Ruler? What's going on at her side?
"Ruler?"
"I sense… oh no… I have to go now!" Ruler panickedly said before the phone line cut, and I found myself staring at my scroll dumbly.
"Uhm… What the fuck just happened?" I found myself uttering in confusion as to what had transpired. Little did I know this event would be the wake-up call to everyone on Remnant, and Ruler was in the middle of this, nor did I realise that Ironwood had heard everything Ruler and I had said to each other.
Jeanne found herself scrambling through the tight corridors of this airship in a hurry. While she had hoped and prayed for a safe journey to Vale, it appears that her prayers were unanswered. And while in the middle of running through the narrow hallways. Many thoughts ran through her mind as she ran past and apologised to any passersby she bumped into.
The main one of interest is Saber's apparent encounter with another servant who happens to be working in a cafe. And that caught her interest that this servant appeared to be working in a cafe, to begin with. Perhaps at a later date, she could ask Saber for more details.
But right now, she has another thing to worry about. During her talk with Saber, she had picked up an ever-increasing magical signature that gained her attention. And that bothers her. And that fear reeled its ugly face when she got onto the airship deck among other curious eyewitnesses and saw something glowing purple in the far distance in the mountains.
And she knows that magic.
"Berserker…" Jeanne could only mutter in horror and could not react in time. Ruler would generally have changed into her battle dress and protected the airship from any oncoming attacks or even tried to get everyone to safety. But with so many eyewitnesses nearby, it made her hesitate to reveal herself, and that moment of weakness proved fatal for a handful of lives here.
*BANG!*
A violet projectile rang out from a distance and slammed into the airship, even more so when it punctured a hole right through it before fires broke out as screams of confusion and terror filled the air.
The airship began to creak in response to the sudden damage it took, and the sheer impact shook it violently and made many fall to the floor, including Jeanne, who clung onto the metal railings for dear life. She could only beg God for forgiveness that her hesitation had cost lives before someone shouted about how the airship was beginning to fall to the ground.
"I got you! Hang on!" Jeanne yelled out before she managed to save another passenger about to fall off the ship when she grabbed his foot and used her strength to pull him back into the airship.
"Thank you!" He panicky says before another explosion rocked the ship right before what Jeanne could guess was the captain of the vessel yells out.
"Damn it! Everyone! This going to be a tough landing! Brace for impact!" Everyone on the ship had only a brief moment to brace before the whole airship crash-landed on the ground and sent debris and dirt everywhere. The airship was going fast to make things even rougher for everyone, so when it hit the ground, it began to drag across the land. Leaving nothing but destruction and ruined trees in its path."
Either by sheer luck or by God's intervention, most of the passengers were relatively in stable conditions and with minor injuries. Even so, this crash had shaken everyone to the core and brought questions about what hit the ship.
Except for Jeanne, who now dreaded the moment because she could sense Berserker on the move and on a direct course towards the crashed ship. Even more so, due to her time in the libraries and her ability to read and write the language in this world, she had learned of the Grimm and their attraction to negative feelings.
This will not go well if this fight goes on for too long.
"Are you alright?" Jeanne heard one of the passengers ask her while she was staring at where Berserker would eventually come. "We need to find the survivors and get out of here before the Grimm finds us." He continued before she blinked.
"Yes. I am all right."
Her eyes narrowed when she could sense an insane amount of magical build-up and a sudden increase in speed. Jeanne's eyes widen in horror when she understands what Berserker is going to do. She's going to use her Noble Phantasm on her! "Get everyone behind me." Jeanne urgently said before she was engulfed in a flash of light and now in her battle dress and flagpole in her hand. Much to the man's surprise. "Now!"
"R-Right!" The man stuttered when he spotted a purple ball of energy rapidly bouncing towards them in the distance. "You heard her! Hurry!" He yells out in a panic while Jeanne orders before twirling her flagpole and holding it up while it glows a hue of blue. In an instant, rays of golden energy shimmered around her while everyone ran to her side with fear in their hearts as to what was approaching.
Yet, Jeanne will not yield. She can't, or the innocents who stood behind her and so happened to be caught in the middle would perish. "Oh, flag of mine, protect our comrades!" Jeanne began to chant as her flag glowed ever brighter in blue as it danced in the air, and the same could be said about the golden particles surrounding her.
Yet another voice could be heard by everyone. But this one was more feral and filled with hate. "The burning shadow, the bow of the far side of the moon...take all of my hatred!" Atalanta roars out before she can be seen diving into Jeanne's location.
"Luminosité-"
"Tauropolos Skia-"
"ETERNELEE!"
"THERMOKRASIA!"
With all her might, Jeanne slammed her flagpole onto the ground and projected a blue protective barrier surrounding and protecting everyone inside it. At the same time, Atalanta was quickly engulfed in purple-black flames before she slammed like a meteor headfirst into Jeanne's barrier! The world quaked in fear and awe from the sheer power unleashed by both sides, who were unwilling to back down.
And as the barrier held against an attack that rivalled that of a nuke, Jeanne could see Atalanta glaring with sheer hate and with her fangs bearing like a feral beast that wished to tear every bit of her into shreds. "This will end in one way, murderer! WITH YOU DEAD!" She howled before putting even more pressure on Jeanne's barrier.
Yet, the Maid of Orleans refused and pushed back even harder. "I will not! Your hate has already taken innocent lives, and I will not let you put more into harm!" Her response did earn a cat-like hiss from Atalanta before an explosion erupted and rendered everything in several kilometres surrounding them into nothing but ashes and fire. By the time the fire and smoke cleared, the survivors could only bear terrified looks at what had just happened.
"My gods…" One of the surviving passengers could only mutter in fear at the sheer carnage surrounding everyone. The air was pungent with the smell of ash and fire, and nothing alive was visible as far as the eyes could see. "What are you?" She could only ask Jeanne, who looked slightly breathless while purple-black fire danced in the ruined forest. Many others could only slightly agree as they stared at the Maid of Orleans with fear and gratitude for saving them from… whatever had just happened.
"I'm someone who didn't want this to happen." Jeanne softly mutters before offering a silent prayer so everyone can leave this mess alive. "But please remain in cover and call for help. My fight with her is not over yet." Ruler quickly explained before everyone heard a snarl as Atalanta made her appearance through the smoke and stalked towards them.
"Tch, of course you survived that. You're too stubborn to die that easily." She growled ever louder with a hint of admirability before drawing her bow before an arrow appeared. "But I will not rest until you are DEAD, murderer!" With that, Atalanta lets it loose before Jeanne deflects it, and the two begin their duel with an audience.
Elsewhere, not too far away, in a forest, a woman jumped through it as if flying at inhuman speeds, looking for her target to arrest. Or at least that was until she detected a magical explosion that shook the ground and sent every animal into a panic. She paused momentarily to see a purple-black mushroom cloud in the distance and blinked.
"Target identified. High chance in combat with Servant designated Ruler. Interception required. Activating battle mode." Danzou said in a robotic tone before hisses of steam erupted from her body for a moment. However, before she could begin moving to intercept Atalanta's fight with Ruler, the howls of Grimm caught her sensors, and it wasn't long till hundreds of them poured out of the forests and ran past her straight for the explosion.
Danzou blinked with her head slightly tilted before it clicked. "Alert. The explosion and Berserker's rage have attracted the attention of the local Grimm fauna. Interception is required ASAP to reduce detection of locals." And with that, she sped towards the explosion's epicentre as fast as the blazing wind in a storm while an elegantly designed bracelet shimmered in teal.
Atalanta and Jeanne were still in their duel at the explosion's epicentre. A loud bang could be heard, and the sight of red smoke with a brightly red projectile could be seen in the skies for everyone to see. A distress signal has been sent, assuming the enormous explosion in the middle of the forest wasn't enough. Atalanta could only hiss angrily before she continued her relentless assault on the Maiden of Orleans.
Many of the crash survivors were rightly taking cover after the ship's captain fired his flare gun, and a couple of them secretly recorded this fight while both Atalanta and Jeanne continued to duke it out.
*CLANG!*
*SMASH!*
"Stay still!" Another crater was created when Atalanta's foot slammed onto the ground as she screeched out, to which Jeanne responded with a counterattack and rammed her flagpole into the Chaste Huntress's back. And the sheer force sends her flying into the air with only a bruise and a cat-like hiss.
While still flying in the air, Atalanta drew her bow again and fired more arrows at Jeanne, who quickly ran past hundreds of them before both clashed again in the middle with their weapons. Or arms in Atalanta's case. "This has gone on for far too long! Just die already!"
But before Jeanne could retort, the howls of Grimm echoed the battlefield and sent dread to those who knew these monsters. "Oh no." With eyes widening with the growing apprehension, Jeanne spots hundreds of Grimm barrelling down on them like the tide of death and claws. Too many to count or fight.
There's no way to simultaneously protect the civilians against the Grimm and deal with Atalanta's rampage. The situation worsened when the survivors began to panic, thus earning the Grimm's attention. Gritting her teeth at the problem, Jeanne broke off from Atalanta and moved to engage the Grimm.
Only to be immediately intercepted.
"Where do you think you're going?!" Jeanne barely had enough time to bring her flagpole up to block Atalanta's bow swung for her face.
Gritting her teeth at the strain of this battle, Jeanne did the only thing she could do and begged for Atalanta to stop. "Berserker, please! Stop this fight! Innocents are about to be lost to the Grimm! Put aside this grudge for now, I beg of you!"
"And let you get away?! Never!"
The fight between them was about to resume if it wasn't for another voice joining the conversation. "Berserker." Recognising the voice made Jeanne's eyes widen before Danzou dropped in from the sky and gave Atalanta a dry look. "You are to return to the Winter Throne this instant for failure to report back to our master. Failure to heed her word will be met with force." Danzou explains before she was met with a snarl.
"She is within my grasp, and you dare to stop me?!"
"Should you continue to resist, you will be brought before her in one piece or pieces." Danzou simply answered while Jeanne quickly took this opportunity to break off and defend the survivors, much to Atalanta's irritation.
"Fine then! Have it your way!" She furiously grits and bares her teeth at her fellow servant, who closes her eyes.
"Primary objective, peaceful retrieval, failed. Initiating secondary objective. Retrieval by force." And with that, Danzou opened her eyes and brought her blades to bear to attack Atalanta, who retaliated back.
"I'll tear you into bits for stopping me!"And so, Assassin and Berserker charged at each other without rest while Ruler did her best to protect the survivors. Little did all three realise their actions here would spark something more significant in Remnant…
Back in Vale…
Back in the Beacon and within the Headmaster's office, Ozpin was in a discussion with Glynda, Tai, Qrow, Raven and Ironwood. Raven has recently been discharged from the medical room, and all five of them decided to meet in Ozpin's office because Ironwood had contacted them about another conversation he had 'successfully'. But this conversation would be different since Ironwood decided to personally join the talk.
Apparently, he found something so distressing that he needed to share it on the spot and of significant concern, from what Ozpin could read from his friend's tone. Thus, the conversion began with Ironwood as a hologram.
"I see that you are much better, Raven." Those were the first words Ironwood said upon seeing Raven back on her feet. Even he doesn't like that she's here and not behind bars for her crimes. "Normally, I would say seeing you in good health is good. But I'd be lying." Ironwood gave an expressionless look before the Branwen tribe leader rolled her eyes.
"Please. Let us focus on the issue. Ozpin mentioned something that you need us to hear?"
"Yes." Ironwood nods his head. "If nothing else, it is related to Ruler and Saber. They'd been in contact again recently."
"What did you learn from them, James?" Ozpin spoke with a raised eyebrow. "It must be severe if you insist on seeing us." With everyone in the room glancing at Ironwood, he sighs before playing the recording and its sudden end to everyone. The office was silent except for the recording being played, as everyone listened to it attentively.
And once it was done, Ironwood started the conversation again. "Ozpin's theory is correct: neither Saber nor Ruler is their true name but likely is a form of a classification." The General began rubbing his chin with curiosity in his eyes.
"And we have another of those 'Servants' in Vale working in a cafe of all places," Qrow grumbled before taking a sip of his canteen. "Wonderful. As if we need more of those guys wandering all over the goddamn place."
"What interests me is their apparent belief that Assassin and Berserker have the same master. As if they are meant to have someone controlling them." Glynda points out before Ozpin takes a sip of his hot chocolate with the same intrigued look he always had.
"You mean like the Schnees and their ability to summon?" Tai suggests. While it has been a while since he has seen his daughters, both have told him of their time with having a Schnee heiress as a teammate or partner in Ruby's case. "Then again, they call themselves Servants, so that's a hint?"
"Seeing how powerful Saber was… I… think it's appropriate that they have masters to control them." Raven softly added in before shuddering at the memory of Saber crushing her quickly appeared in her mind.
"So, what do we call them? Rogue Servants? Or Masterless Servants?" Qrow asked right as everyone looked at each other with uncertainty. As if their shadow war against Salem was complicated enough. Now, they have these magical things running around, with two of them underneath someone's control.
"Is anyone not concerned about the end of the audio recording?" Ozpin finally spoke, earning the attention of everyone. To cut out a call like that means that something has gone horribly wrong on Ruler's side of the ring. And as if it was a coincidence, Ozpin's eyes widened before snapping his head to the window when he sensed a magical explosion, and the clouds turned purple for a second.
"Ozpin. What happened?" Ironwood called out to his fellow headmaster, who continued to stare outside the window. Interestingly enough, Raven was doing the same, shivering at the sheer power she felt unleashed. It's almost similar to Saber's but more feral and unhinged.
"Raven?" Qrow was about to drink when he and the others noticed his sister visibly paling in the face, and the entire skies were turning purple for a moment. "What the hell is this?" Qrow exasperatedly pointed at the sky with both hands while silence overruled Ozpin's office.
"As ludicrous as it may be, someone or something had released a large amount of magic just a second ago. Again." Ozpin began rubbing his head. "I have feared this for a while now. The presence of these 'Servants' has already begun brewing an uncertain future for us all."
"Could it be a side effect of them fighting against one another?" Tai suggests. "From what you said, some of these 'Servants' don't seem to get along with one another." With his arms folded, Tai says before Ironwood can be seen frowning before glancing at something at his side before speaking.
"Taiyang has to be correct. The apparent relationship between Ruler and Berserker appears to be hostile against one another. And from my Ace Ops reports, they reported hearing Berserker accusing Ruler of being a murderer. Who or what she kills to earn such a reaction is unknown." Ironwood pressed a button on his side before the audio began playing out.
"My bug on Ruler's scroll has reported something of concern. You all need to hear this." Ironwood sounded nervous as he played the audio. They hear the sound of combat on the other side before they hear Ruler yelling.
"Get everyone behind me. Now!" That was quickly followed by someone else yelling out in a panicked tone.
"R-Right! You heard her! Hurry!" Everyone in Ozpin's room could hear a shimmering noise in the background for the next few seconds before Ruler began chanting.
"Oh, flag of mine, protect our comrades!" She yells out before another voice can be heard within the audio recording. But this one is filled with feral ferocity and filled to the brim with frenzied rage.
"The burning shadow, the bow of the far side of the moon...take all of my hatred!"
"Luminosité-"
"Tauropolos Skia-"
"ETERNELEE!"
"THERMOKRASIA!"
What quickly followed next was the sound of something slamming onto the ground and the sound of something massive impacting it. Hearing all of it made Ozpin and Raven quake when they remembered the recent magical discharge from earlier. As if the bug was glitching out, buzzing was heard before the same voice could be heard again.
"This will end in one way, murderer! WITH YOU DEAD!" The voice, which everyone assumes is Berserker, howled, and that was quickly followed by Ruler's voice countering.
"I will not! Your hate has already taken innocent lives, and I will not let you put more into harm!" Without even a second later, a massive explosion rattled the ears of everyone listening in, with Qrow covering his ears and the others wincing instead.
"Those sound like incantations of a spell…" Ozpin could only conclude grimly before the audio recording ended. "A special ability of theirs, perhaps? Or a Trump card?" The headmaster of Beacon could only wonder worriedly with his hand on his chin and cane.
"If they're all magical beings, does that mean there's a possibility others could pick up on that? Glynda could only frown with her arms folded. Oh, how things are now getting incredibly complicated. And how would they hide their existence from the rest of the world if they could do that? Or the fact that according to Ruler, Berserker has already taken innocent lives, and some survivors witnessed the whole catastrophe.
"Likely." Raven agrees with a mutter and a sigh after rubbing her eyes. "Gods. What now?"
Silence quickly permeated the office, with none knowing what they could do now. After all, what can they exactly do there? Perhaps try to talk to them or something? The world's power balance has been thrown out the window thanks to these Servants.
And what will their enemy Salem do with such wild cards on the chessboard now?
Unaware that she had been blown up not too long ago with her plans delayed severely.
Back with Mordred…
"What the fuck was that?! What is even happening anymore?!" She could only wonder after witnessing the skies turn purple for a second and sensing another magical surge for a moment. And the news… it is all going crazy about what happened. Even Remnant's equivalent of the internet is going absolutely bonkers because there are those in Mistral reporting earthquakes and even a bloody purple mushroom cloud!
Mordred could only scroll through the hundreds of comments reporting this incident all over Remnant that everyone in the four kingdoms had reported the same purple clouds that showed up briefly. But only those in Mistral reported signs of an earthquake, and some even spotted a purple mushroom cloud in the distance with photos as evidence. There was also evidence of some survivors caught in the explosion since pictures of what was clearly a distress signal flared in the skies were posted online.
Conspiracy theorists, being the way they are, have already begun making all sorts of speculations about what could have caused that and making everything even messier. Going from aliens to ancient relics to magic to all kinds of nonsense.
Though the one about ghostly spirits is quite close to the truth…
"Ruler… What in the bloody hell happened over there? Did Berserker find you while you were on that ship?" She groaned before finding herself on the floor and leaning against the wall while Fou was beside her, purring worriedly. "And did both of you seriously use your Noble Phantasms or something?"
Silence overwhelmed the Knight of Treachery as she tried to piece together a new plan or something. "So much for meeting up with Jeanne in Vale… And now everyone's talking about it. How long till everyone realises that something is not right? In fact, I'm pretty sure that that old wizard on his tower is also now aware of this shit. Wait, what about that Salem bitch lady? What will she do now?" She could only groan in frustration.
"Fou!" Fou chirped loudly, and he snapped Mordred out of her panicked state and was quickly rewarded with a head pat from her.
"Right. I can't afford to get distracted right now." Mordred sighed before downing a bottle of water. "This gonna cause a chain reaction if more of this shit keeps happening with us appearing all over the goddamn place. Who knows how the world will react to this incident?" Yet her response earned a quizzed look from Fou.
"Fou?"
Mordred only gave a sigh as she stood up. "Never thought I would go through with this, but I need to talk with the old wizard. I hate to do this because I don't know how he might react to me and my… violent action to get rid of Raven… Frankly, I still prefer seeing her dead. But all this shit happening, and I have no choice."
Fou simply blinked in response. "Fou…?"
"After dealing with Cinder, of course. I'm not going to see that old fart now." Mordred rolled her eyes. "And you know what? How about you come with me tonight? I think I need some action, and so do you, and beating the hell out of some criminals does sound fun. Doesn't it?" She simply smirked while Fou jumped onto her shoulder.
"Fou Fou!"
With a smile on her face, Mordred simply chuckled and gently scratched Fou behind the ears while he purred. "Now that's more like it." And with that, Mordred and Fou left to prepare to hunt down Torchwick.
Mordred can't wait anymore. She needs to act and find Torchwick now.
"There's just too many of them!"
"We're all going to die!"
Cries of terror broke out as Jeanne skewered her flagpole into a Beowolf before flinging it aside and rushing in to protect the survivors. Her body was covered in lacerations and claw marks, with blood covering much of her armour. Yet, Jeanne refused to stop. She can't, or the Grimm would overwhelm her and the survivors.
And speaking of survivors, some were security guards who were seen assisting her with their pistols. While it isn't much against hundreds of Grimm, it still allows Jeanne to focus on more immediate threats while Danzou keeps Atalanta away from her.
And speaking of Danzou,
During her fight against her fellow servant, she brought her fingers up and fired round after round at Atalanta, who howled and landed her claws on the automaton, leaving a gruesome claw slash mark with oil leaking. Yet Danzou just frowned in response before a volley of missiles came out of her back. The roaring sound of explosion rocked the battle before Atalanta went out of the smoke, all bloodied but still determined to kill.
"You are 30% closer to defeat. It is advisable to yield while you still can." Danzou utters with her blades drawn. Yet Atalanta refused to stand down and snarled in response.
"Never!"
But before either of them could even continue. The sounds of galloping hooves attracted the attention of everyone before a Nuckelavee emerged out of the trees with its body seemingly twitching, much to the survivor's horror when they recognised it.
"A Nuckelavee. By the Brothers, what is it doing outside of its hunting zone?" The captain uttered while still pale before the Nuckelavee let out a howling screech, making everyone cover their ears in pain. At the same time, many of the Grimm in the vicinity hesitated momentarily before choosing to exploit that opening to get in close, though Jeanne quickly put an end to them.
The Nuckelavee has found its prey of the day and will not let anyone, not even its fellow Grimm, stop it. Jeanne pants for breath with her eyes narrowed. Usually, she should be able to deal with whatever this is, but in her current state, she has used her Noble Phantasm and the attrition of battle is catching up to her.
Jeanne doubted she could take on that thing alone.
Yet, Atalanta was about to return to the hunt when the Nuckelavee lashed out at her with its elongated arms, and every servant jumped over its attack while the survivors ducked underneath it. The sound of shattered trees crunched echoed through the broken land while the Nuckelavee charged into battle, yet the situation proved precarious enough.
It also doesn't help that they had worn each other out earlier and are not at full strength now. "Higher threat identified. Recommend immediate ceasefire and focus on elimination of Grimm identified as Nuckelavee." Danzou utters before she lands next to Jeanne with her blades out.
"I couldn't agree more." Jeanne panted before knocking a Boarbatusk over and stabbing it in its underbelly. "Berserker?" She could only ask while Atalanta was snarling at her and was about to lash out violently at her. Thankfully, however, it appears her master had enough of her insubordination.
"Berserker. You will help Assassin and Ruler repel the Grimm threat. Then you are to return to me. Do not make me repeat myself, and I may forgive your transgressions for failing to heed my words."
Understandably frustrated with the circumstances, Atalanta growls before drawing her bow and aiming it at the Nuckelavee. "Fine! We'll work together for now." And with that, she lets her arrow fly as it pierces the major threat in the chest. "Leave this thing to me!" Atalanta howled while she leapt at the Nuckelavee's face. At the same time, both Jeanne and Danzou nodded heads before joining in or protecting the survivors as they watched on.
Elsewhere in the lands of the British Isles, Morgan sat on her throne along with her Knights, serving as her guard while she peered into a glass orb on her hand. And it showed the fight of this… Grimm abomination with Berserker, Assassin and Ruler. She had spent some time watching them fight against one another before the Grimm arrived, making everything even more complicated.
And Berserker… Morgan's no fool, Assassin had failed to prevent Berserker from causing a scene on time. That is true when she shot down an aerial machine out of the sky with Ruler on it, disregarding the consequences. But even so, there are survivors on board, and Ruler has proven more interested in preserving their lives than hiding herself from the rest of the world.
She should have eliminated them on the spot when she had the chance.
And because of this weakness, this new world will eventually be aware of the presence of Servants. And Berserker's use of her Noble Phantasm has already caused shockwaves worldwide, which surprised her by a large margin. It appears that in this world, information can be passed quickly through the kingdoms through some sort of transmitters located at each kingdom.
And through these handheld devices, called scrolls, anyone could receive information or news quickly. However, as fascinating as these devices were, she finds it foolish to call them scrolls since they look nothing like actual scrolls.
Shaking her head slowly, Morgan brushed the glass orb in her hand, and it changed its perspective to the eyes of one of Caster's homunculi. She has taken the time to create specialised bracelets for every one of her servants that would allow her to see through their eyes, and they proved both effective and intriguing at understanding the local Humans and Faunus up close.
Just as a child does when they watch a terrarium closely.
In fact, the current homunculi she's looking through their eyes was working at a shop that sells medicine that happens to be run by Caster. And despite never showing it on her face, Morgan finds it amusing that Caster chose to run a shop selling his alchemy; interestingly enough, it has gained some traction from the locals.
Caster's complaint about this world and its lack of proper interest in alchemy was even more amusing. Or, more accurately, the lack of it thanks to Dust making things simple for these people. That appears to aggravate Caster into starting his own shop in the interest of helping the lower levels of society.
Whatever that means.
It was then Morgan saw her. Or, more accurately, the child that so happens to bore her face curiously glancing into Caster's shop. What Assassin said is true. She does look similar to her.
As if…
"Fascinating…" Morgan uttered and earned the attention of her Knights.
"What is it, mother?" Fae Tristan curiously asked before peeking over, as did the other Knights.
"This is Saber or Mordred. If what Assassin said is true. She does look like me." Morgan muttered while her eyes narrowed down. Before Tristan hissed.
"This is the imposter that bares your face. She is nothing like you. Why do you still wish to watch her? Might as well have our Servants kill her and be done with it." She huffed before earning a glare from the other knights.
"Her majesty must have a plan for Saber." Lancelot added before folding her arms.
"I have my servants watching her, dear. But once the time is right, she will be brought before me. Just not now. I want to know why she is doing this in the Kingdom of Vale. And I know the looks of someone with a goal in mind."
"Then what about that traitorous rat Berserker? She went against your word and didn't report back! She must be punished and be made an example of for her transgressions!" Tristan points out. "And I'd like the opportunity to enact your punishment if you wished, mother…"
She began licking her lips with glee while Gawain rolled her eyes. But Morgan ignored her knights bantering in the background as she continued watching Mordred walk into the shop like a curious cat.
"What will you do now, I wonder…"
And cut! This chapter's a bit short, but I hope it does what I want it to do! So yeah, Atalanta is causing chaos and making everyone freak out. After all, it is not every day someone drops a magical nuke on someone else, huh? And poor Oz and his gang. They probably will have an even worse headache once the panic sets in or if photos or videos of Jeanne's fight with Atalanta get out…
And speaking of Ozpin and his group, now they know more of Servants thanks to Ironwood but are left in a dilemma of what to do with them. After all, not every day you have something this big happening.
So… yeah. If you want to track when I update this story, add it to your Follows and Favourites. And while you're at it, do leave a review! I love reading them all! It gives me the courage to make more!
With nothing else to say, I will see you all in the next chapter and have a good day!
RGQC out.
(P.S. It appears that is broken again. I can't see my story stats since the 16th of September! Is anyone else suffering the same issue as I am?)
