Something I got from 'A Helping Whitelighter' by btvscharmedgirl

Melinda here is a daughter of Piper and Leo and I know timeline wise it makes no sense but just go with it and she is played by Katie McGrath, thank you to Stand with Ward and Queen for the help with casting.

Disclaimer: I do not own Buffyverse or Charmed.

Melinda Halliwell was preparing her dress and readjusting her hair before a blonde man approached her.

"So, you got your first charge. Are you sure you can do this?" Leo asked.

"Don't worry, you and Chris and Aunt Paige taught me, Dad. I think I could get through her." Melinda said.

"Just be careful. Not every charge makes it easy for you, either on purpose or accident." Leo said before Melinda orbed away.

Melinda had orbed herself in an alley in Sunnydale as she approached the street and looked for her charge, who was a ginger-haired girl in a wool sweater and black pants. She seemed normal but Melinda could sense some kind of inner turmoil inside the girl. While she was still a rookie to this, she had seen Leo, Paige and Chris in action enough times to know how to do this.

Willow was at a newspaper dispenser, looking for anything that might be worth investigating for the Scoobies even though she was trying to refrain herself from using magic but then she sensed something she had not sensed ever before. She had no idea what that magic was and it was nothing like hers or Tara's, when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Are you—"

Willow yelped as she whirled around and next thing she knew, the girl was sent flying across the street while blue shimmer surrounded her body for a few moments before she crashed to a pile of bags of garbage, softening her fall.

"Oh, my God!" Willow gasped before taking a breath, trying to restrain her magic before she approached the girl and knelt down, checking her over. "I'm so sorry, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, don't worry." Melinda assured as Willow started to panic and hyperventilate before Melinda held her hands. "Easy. Deep breaths. Calm down. In and out, OK?"

That seemed to calm Willow down for a few moments until she noticed the blood on Melinda's face and had a flashback to when she got Dawn injured by accident and got slapped by her.

"I didn't mean to." Willow whispered, more to herself.

"I said I was—" Melinda was cut off, when Willow ran off. "Wait!"

Melinda sighed. She knew that some charges might not make it easy for her but in this case, she needed an advice from an experienced Whitelighter.

Back in the Halliwell Manor, the sisters and Leo entered the kitchen and were shocked to see Melinda bruised and holding an ice pack on her face.

"Oh, my God, Mel, what happened?" Paige asked and Melinda sighed before putting down the ice pack.

"She attacked me." Melinda explained as everyone's eyes widened to the size of table tennis balls.

"What?! Why?! Are you OK?" Piper asked, startled.

"I'm fine, don't worry, Mom." Melinda assured. "It wasn't on purpose, more like an accident. The Elders said I should be careful with her but I didn't expect it to be this serious. She was on edge and jumpy and I guess I picked a wrong time to approach her. I startled her and she blasted me across the street. I assured her that I was OK but then she saw the blood and freaked out again and then ran off before I could do anything to calm her down."

The Halliwell sisters and Leo nodded.

"She may not have full control of her powers, these things can happen that the charges hurt even their Whitelighters, on purpose or by accident in their first encounters, especially if they have no idea what we are." Leo explained.

"Any helpful advice?" Melinda asked, clutching her head. "I can sense her, it's like a ringing in my head but… I don't know, I don't want to scare her. I'm worried she might panic and hurt someone else by accident if she sees me again."

"You managed to reach her once, you can do it again, sweetie. Just follow your heart and go with your gut. The Whitelighters have pure heart and they know how to reach their charges." Paige assured as she held Melinda by her hand as she considered.

"Before I do anything, it might be best to find out more about her." Melinda said before she orbed away.

Willow was in the Summers house, with her hands shaking and looking nervous, when Buffy, Tara and Dawn entered.

"Hey, Will." Buffy said before they noticed how on edge Willow was.

"Are you OK?" Dawn asked as Willow took deep breaths.

"No." Willow said.

"What happened?" Tara asked as she sat across her. Despite that they had broken up because of Willow's overuse of magic, Tara did not stop caring about her and was genuinely worried.

"I…" Willow took deep breaths. "I attacked someone today."

"What?" Buffy and Dawn exclaimed at once.

"I didn't mean to, it was an accident. There was this girl, she wanted to talk to me but I panicked and threw her across the street. But I don't think she was human." Willow added as everyone raised their eyebrows. "She… turned into some blue shimmer for a few moments and… I don't know what she was, I panicked and ran off."

"Blue shimmer?" Tara asked, narrowing her eyes. "Like a swarm of blue shining orbs?"

"You know what it is? Is it a demon?" Buffy inquired as everyone turned to her.

"No. Actually, far from it. I'd never seen one of those in person but I heard some rumors and if she was what I think she was, she may actually be able to help Willow." Tara explained.

"So what was that girl exactly?" Dawn asked but before Tara could elaborate, they heard the doorbell ring.

"I'll get it." Buffy said as she opened the door to some dark-haired girl. "Can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Willow. Is she here?" Melinda asked and Willow turned to the door and in an instant almost jumped and gasped as she paled. "Hey, hey, hey. It's OK. It's OK." She assured, raising her hands. "You have nothing to fear."

"That's her?" Dawn asked and Willow's pale face was a clear confirmation.

"What do you want?" Buffy asked, on guard, ready for a fight.

"It's OK, Buffy." Tara assured as she approached. "You're a Whitelighter, aren't you?"

Melinda nodded. "Yes, I am."

"What is a Whitelighter?" Dawn asked, not understanding.

"She's something like a guardian angel for witches. Don't worry. Really." Tara assured everyone before turning to Melinda. "You were assigned to Willow, were you?"

"Can I talk with Willow?" Melinda asked as Tara let her in and Willow looked on edge, given that she had hurt that girl on accident earlier. "It's OK, just take it easy." She approached Willow slowly and held her hand as Willow took deep breaths. "Deep breaths."

Willow relaxed and could feel herself deflate, more assured than earlier. "I'm sorry about—"

"It was an accident, don't worry about it, I know you didn't mean to hurt me. Besides, I've had to endure worse." Melinda assured. "I understand wanting to use magic to make things easier for you but that's not how it works. It can get better of you over time and make you lose semblance of normalcy. But I'm here to help you get control."

"I think we should give them some space." Tara suggested as everyone left Melinda and Willow in private as Buffy, Dawn and Tara were at the front porch.

"Do you honestly believe she can help her?" Dawn asked.

"Honestly, I'm not sure but asides from Giles and me, she might. Whitelighters help witches with their struggles on daily basis." Tara said.

"Let's hope that's enough for Willow." Buffy said before Melinda exited the house.

"I think she'll be fine." Melinda said as they turned to see Willow more relaxed and assured but still a bit on edge.

"Thank you for getting through to her." Tara said appreciatively.

"That's why I'm here. Magic is a part of her and she can't just quit using it but if she lets it control the majority of her life, you will lose her. You all need to look out for her." Melinda said.

"She won't. We'll make sure of it." Buffy said.

"If there's anything you need help with, I'm one call away, all you need to do is shout my name." Melinda said before orbing away.

"Well, that's new." Buffy noted before they entered the house and Willow seemed more assured than before. At least asides from Tara and her friends there was someone else to look out for her if she would go too far with her magic.
