Chapter 36 Blood Feuds Destroy Pureblood Britain

This chapter occurs about 48 hours after the strange events in Hogsmeade with first Dumbledore in Polyjuice pants, and Luna Lovegood as 'bait'. The DMLE and the Ministry refuse to arrest anyone for kidnapping Luna or holding Dumbledore prisoner.

CHANGE SCENE: Attempt at Mediation

In an office in the Ministry for Magic, with Aurors on guard and suppressive wards in place to prevent anyone from firing off any spells, Andromeda and Theodore Tonks waited silently with Minister Amos Diggory and Grand Warlock Daniel Greengrass for the other interested parties to arrive. As the minutes passed without the appearance of the representatives of the three pureblood families, the two politicians grew restless.

"Do you suppose they'll not bother to show up?" Diggory asked Greengrass.

Greengrass grimaced for a millisecond but then restored his pureblood mask and replied, "They agreed to this meeting, and it is in their best interest to attend. Thus far, Potter's been restrained with his response to the latest attacks."

"You mean because no one's dead yet?"

Greengrass shook his head and said, "Director Bones thinks the boy is good-hearted and doesn't want to cause harm to anyone. But in the latest Hogsmeade attack, the purebloods kidnapped an innocent witch."

"Yes, Luna Lovegood…" Diggory mentioned the witch's name reluctantly. The ghost of his son kept appearing at their home and here in the ministry to denounce Amos.

"In the reports from Gringotts on the One Day War, the goblins noted that Potter carried his elf in his arms when he chose to stay out of the fighting."

"Did he run away?"

"He's fourteen, Diggory! The adults didn't want him involved. But when the Norwegians moved to attack the goblin wives and children, Potter blocked their attack and killed eight hit wizards and six goblins by himself in that engagement."

"Surely not; the boy is practically a muggle-born and doesn't know how to fight," replied Diggory, ignoring the results of the attack by Fenrir Greyback and the duel with Lord Ogden which were both won by Harry Potter.

Ted Tonks spoke up at that point, "Heir Potter defended the wives and children of the goblins fighting to defend the bank from invaders. King Ragnock has the heads of Potter's kill mounted on poles in his Royal Cavern."

"Why?" asked the minister again, aghast at the idea of heads mounted on stakes.

"To show everyone that Harry Potter fought to defend innocents in Gringotts that day. Each head is embedded by a silver knife that identifies them as Potter's kill."

Andromeda added, "And the king's daughter married a goblin who is associated with Heir Potter. I understand the wedding gift they received was a large bag of gold dripping with the blood of a Potter enemy. The king keeps it on display in his cavern for all visitors to see."

To continue overwhelming the men with information, Ted continued, "I heard that the centaurs gathered the silver knives Potter used to kill Fenrir Greyback and wear them on their belts. They fitted others on their lances and use them to hunt the giant spiders each week. The knives are enchanted, and the centaurs are successful with every hunt. And they sell the carcasses to the smugglers in Hogsmeade."

His wife smiled, "Heir Potter was delighted when he saw the nifflers in the Silver Forest carrying the silver knives into the forest. All the creatures of the Forbidden Forest are armed it seems."

"Silver Forest, my dear," Ted reminded his wife. "Headmaster Bennet changed the name of the forest to the name to Silver Forest to honour Mr Potter's victory over the werewolf."

"And that reminds me. Minister Diggory, when will Mr Potter receive the bounty that the ministry offered to the wizard who killed that dark creature?"

Diggory and Greengrass understood the couple shared these bits of information to sway the politicians to urge the missing families to stop the attacks.

The door finally opened to allow the heads of the Marchbanks, Flint, and Huddleston families to enter the room. The attorneys stood and bowed appropriately to the three Lords of the Wizengamot with their immediate heirs and other representatives with them. (Lord Marchbanks lost his seat in the lawsuit brought by Andromeda for the attempted line theft by Madam Marchbanks. Her plan to take Dennis Creevey for blood adoption by Amos Diggory left her family beggared, but the wizard still held the title of Lord Marchbanks).

"I object to the presence of the witch Andromeda Tonks," Lord Marchbanks announced before another word was spoken. "She must leave."

Greengrass waved away the man's objection by saying, "Then Minister Diggory and your mother must leave too."

Lord Flint growled and said, "Shut it, Marchbanks."

Now Greengrass addressed everyone. "This parlay was requested by Harry Potter, Heir Potter, Master of Runes, for his attorneys – Theodore Tonks and Andromeda Tonks – to address the families of Marchbanks, Flint, and Huddleston and demand that the hostilities against him cease."

There were sneers on the faces of the purebloods, so Greengrass continued, "Mr Tonks, you may speak first."

Ted rose and spoke in an even tone without any emotion. "Quite simply, my lords, Heir Potter has reached the end of his patience with your families. There have been unprovoked attacks on his person at your instigation. First the werewolf and then the honour duel with Lord Ogden. Now, you attempted to bait him with an innocent classmate and the fake Albus Dumbledore."

"The duel proved Heir Potter's power and abilities," Andromeda reminded her husband. "Vaults, businesses, another seat in the Wizengamot…he'll rebrand fire whiskey if I know the heir."

The purebloods hissed with displeasure – since Ogden's embarrassing performance against Heir Potter, more and more of their number stopped contributing to the cause.

"And now, this latest attack in Hogsmeade means Dumbledore is missing and an innocent student was traumatised."

Lord Marchbanks snorted, "Potter doesn't care about Dumbledore."

"And the girl is barmy already," one of the Huddleston wizards muttered. "Never showed a lick of good sense."

"The muddy wizard places a value on the hundreds of years of tradition in Magical Britain. But the rule by the pureblood houses will continue after Potter is dead and in the ground," said Lord Flint.

"Do you represent a formal alliance of pureblood families?" asked Andromeda. "Traditionally, Marchbanks is light, Flint is dark, and Huddleston is neutral in all matters."

"We do not represent an alliance by anyone other than pureblood!" insisted Lord Flint. "The others are too timid and willing to give away their rights!"

Greengrass frowned, understanding that statement was aimed directly at him. Minister Diggory found himself agreeing with the three families – pureblood rule had to be protected.

"Heir Potter's magical breakthrough has changed the power structure in Britain forever," Ted said. "Madam Marchbanks can confirm that the young wizard possesses incredible magic and can harness…"

"It's a trick of some kind," Madam Marchbanks announced. "That's the only explanation and I believe it is something muggle brought into our world to destroy us."

"And we must destroy the boy and his magic before the structures of Magical Britain are destroyed," declared her son.

Andromeda sighed lightly, recognizing that some of the anger in the wizard's voice had been caused by her zealous destruction of the man's estate and wealth. She said, "We recognize the strain your families are under. Huddleston is threatened by the idea that wards won't take hours to carve and can be easily constructed. House Flint…"

"Shut it!" interrupted Madam Marchbanks. "Let's get to the real purpose of our meeting today.

"And what is that?" asked Minister Diggory.

"Lord Marchbanks, Lord Flint, and I propose the Ministry seize Potter and force him to reveal the secrets of this magic," Lord Huddleston explained. "If the ministry passes a law that makes this magic common knowledge, the muddy wizard can't deny it to everyone. The purebloods will be back in power and financial control within days."

Diggory paused to give the matter serious thought, while Greengrass shook his head and said, "Even if the Wizengamot passed that law, the ICW and the goblins will never agree to such a thing – we can't just steal another wizard's magic."

Thinking about the Aurors available to jump to Hogwarts and take Potter into custody, Diggory stood up and asked, "How do you propose we go about this?"

Pointing at Andromeda and Ted, Lord Flint said, "Take them into custody and then order the boy…"

At that point, Andromeda and Ted vanished without any sounds, movements, or wands. Lord Greengrass pushed Minister Diggory back into his chair and said, "Stay silent."

Turning to the representatives of the three families, Lord Greengrass said, "This meeting for mediation is at an unsuccessful end. I have no idea what will happen next, but I fear no one will be pleased with the conclusion."

Lord Huddleston growled, "Daniel, you're a coward! We'll remember that when the pure families are in control again! There's nothing you can do. We won't stop until Harry Potter is dead and in the ground!"

CHANGE SCENE: Consult with Goblins

Minister Diggory now openly joined with the desperate purebloods in their plot to destroy Harry Potter. Director Bones had already refused to be part of the 'witch hunt' and been fired. Her successor, Rufus Scrimgeour sent Aurors to Hogwarts to arrest Harry Potter and Augusta Longbottom (his legal guardian).

Earlier the same day, Harry Potter withdrew from Hogwarts – with his guardian's approval – to study with private tutors. He disappeared from the school before breakfast. When the Aurors arrived at the gates during breakfast, only two were allowed entrance – Auror Proudfoot and Auror Shacklebolt again. When they entered the Great Hall and announced they would arrest Harry Potter, they were informed by Headmaster Bennet that the young wizard had withdrawn from Hogwarts and departed early that morning.

"Then, we're here to arrest Augusta Longbottom," stated Auror Proudfoot just before the castle threw him and Shacklebolt through her wards and into Black Lake. The wards around the castle (now that Hogwarts understood intent as defined by Harry Potter), denied all Aurors and ministry officials access to the castle.

Later that same morning, two notable persons who attempted to enter the castle to talk with Headmaster Bennet were Amelia Bones and Minister Diggory. Both were denied entry and waited impatiently at the gates of the castle for the headmaster to appear. Bennet walked down from the castle's door and explained to them that Hogwarts herself had denied them entry because the ministry was attacking Harry Potter.

"Where is Potter?" demanded Diggory just before an owl swooped down on him to paint him with chalk.

"Heir Potter withdrew from Hogwarts…" Bennet began to say.

"That's illegal!" declared Bones as a parliament of owls lined up to swoop down and deposit chalk on both individuals. Diggory raised his wand once before the phoenix flashed in and deposited especially stinking chalk on the minister for magic.

"…with the permission of his magical guardian to continue his studies under private tutors so as to not draw anyone's attention to Hogwarts."

"Bloody likely," muttered Diggory, trying to remove the chalk that was beginning to smoke ever so slightly.

Bennet grinned and said, "Amos Diggory, are you calling me a liar? Please say 'yes'. Then I can throw you around the duelling floor for an hour or more."

With his teeth clenched tightly, Amos replied, "Apologies, Headmaster Bennet. In a moment of duress, I misspoke."

"Yes, I understand the duress you're under. Have the ICW troops landed in Magical Britain yet?" asked Bennet.

"Troops?" asked Diggory growing pale. "The ICW? Are they coming?"

"What do you mean?" asked Amelia. In the days since she'd been fired as Director of the DMLE, she'd not been made aware of any government communications.

When Bennet made no comment, Amelia leapt ahead with her conclusions and said, "The ICW is coming to assume control…aren't they?"

"No! They're not!" insisted Amos who turned and practically ran down the path back toward Hogsmeade.

"Don't use the floo with phoenix chalk on your robes or hair!" shouted Headmaster Bennet as the minister fled. "It's highly flammable!"

Bones took a moment to think carefully before she asked, "Are the students – the children – safe and well-fed?"

"Yes, Madam Bones. Hogwarts is well prepared for the rest of the summer and the beginning of the new year in September."

"The Abbots vanished last week."

Bennet said nothing and Bones assumed that meant they were safe in the school with several other families that had allied with Potter against the purebloods.

"I am certain that Mr and Mrs Abbot have your niece in a safe location," Bennet finally said.

"Do you have any notion how a witch could find someone from the ICW to volunteer her services?"

"I imagine if you visit Gringotts and ask to speak to your vault manager, he could get you in touch with a representative of any advance force in the country," Bennet suggested. "Now, if you'll forgive me, I have a school to run. Oh, if you find our headmaster emeritus wandering around anywhere, please escort him to the ICW officials as well. They'll move him to a care facility."

SCENE CHANGE: Blood Feud

In the Wizengamot chamber of the Ministry for Magic, Amos Diggory was dealing with rumours about the ICW, Gringotts, and Harry Potter. For the last two days, the rump of the Wizengamot attempted to pass laws but none of the parchments would activate.

Amos was tired, his wife refused to speak with him because the ghost of their son appeared to haunt them, and his head still hurt where his hair had burned away. The healers promised that once the burns healed, potions would restore his hair in a few days.

One witch shouted, "I propose we pass a law that says Harry Potter is not a wizard anymore!"

"Yeah, he's a coward!" agreed a wizard.

"Wait!" shouted Greengrass from his seat as Grand Warlock. "Wait a minute! You must follow the rules of this chamber! If you don't magic can deny…"

"Shut it, Greengrass! We know you're a secret Potter spy!"

There was a flash of magic and Heir Harry Potter stood in the well of the Wizengamot, a shimmering shield covering him.

"As is my right as the heir of Ancient and Noble House, I come to this chamber to make an important declaration!"

"Take him! Aurors!" shouted Diggory for a moment but then glancing around and not seeing anyone running into the room, the minister fell silent. The ghost of Cedric floated through the walls and began to wail and moan, disturbing everyone. Two members of the Wizengamot fired spells at Harry Potter but a shield around him seemed to absorb the spells.

"Heir Potter, this is most irregular," said Greengrass, watching the living and the dead teenager.

Glancing around the room, Harry nodded his head. "Apologies Grand Warlock. However, since you do not have a quorum of members, nothing that is voted upon in this chamber today is legal or binding."

"Magic will make it binding, you muddy-blood bastard!" declared Lord Huddleston.

With every eye on him, Harry stated, "I just wanted to be left alone to study magic. I am trying to make it better and stronger. You don't like me because I'm changing things and you're not in control anymore. So, I have to show you that you can't attack me without consequence."

"Therefore, per the laws you want to protect so desperately, House Potter declares a blood feud with House Marchbanks, House Flint, and House Huddleston, and their allies in the attacks on me, my friends, and Hogwarts. And per your laws, the ministry and the DMLE cannot interfere in this blood feud. Any individual who attempts to interfere or act against me becomes part of the feud and draws their entire family into the fight."

"You'll be dead before sunset, Potter!" shouted Lord Marchbanks from the visitor's gallery.

And as suddenly as he had appeared, Heir Potter vanished, leaving many wizards shouting. A few sat quietly, trying to figure out how to survive the coming blood bath.

The Daily Prophet published a special edition that evening, Harry paid for three full-page advertisements repeating the declaration of blood feud and listed the detailed rules that permitted fights, duels, and massacres without interference by the government or neutral parties. Editorials and opinion pieces published in the paper speculated on a long, bloody fight with Potter being defeated and killed after a few weeks. There was great concern that duels and battles would erupt in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade. (The villagers declared they would welcome Heir Potter anytime he came to slaughter the wizards who tried to burn their town to the ground.) Gringotts Bank is curiously silent.

On the first night of the feud, the Marchbanks family vanished. The family and their retainers simply weren't there in the morning. Lord Flint called the DMLE about the disappearance of an entire family. Aurors were dispatched to the house where the family had been staying and once they were inside the wards, the Aurors quickly determined that the people had vanished while sitting around the dinner table. The last meal was still on the plates and none of their belongings was missing.

Later that same morning, the Marchbanks family reappeared inside the offices of the Daily Prophet. Their reappearance occurred just before noon on the second day of the feud. They are disoriented and without their wands. It is quickly apparent that the family and retainers – wizards, witches, young and old – had been stripped of their magic. Aurors were summoned to carry them to Saint Mungo's where the healers refused to admit them after determining that their magical cores are no longer charged.

"You had magic, but you don't anymore. You're all squibs," the admitting healer told the family. "Aurors, escort them out of here."

The DMLE consulted with Minister Diggory who didn't bother to check the laws and said, "Take them to a street in muggle land and leave them there."

"No! We don't know anything…" the man once known as Lord Marchbanks said before he vanished.

On the third morning of the feud, both the Flint and Huddleston families appeared at the Daily Prophet with their magic stripped from them. Over the next week, four other families of purebloods appeared at the Daily Prophet offices and in case, the entire family had been stripped of their magic – all men, women, and children. Among the squib'ed persons were the Anderson and Fidget families, and Lord and Lady Weasley, their eldest sons and their families totalling sixty-seven men, women, and children were stripped of their magic.

The DMLE Aurors immediately took the individuals to the same street in muggle land, where an army team (muggle-born) waited to escort the former magical persons to the hospital for processing. The previous day, the four eldest members of the Marchbanks family died before the end of the day as the shock of the loss of their magic set in. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren would survive and live as muggles.

There was another full-page advertisement in the Daily Prophet that detailed Harry Potter's defeat of the Marchbanks, Flint, Huddleston, Weasley, Anderson, and Fidget families in the blood feud. Photographs of the seven groups of squibs before they left magical Britain forever were included on the page.

In the text on the page, Harry was quoted saying, "I didn't kill them, but I took their magic away from them. Leave me alone or I'll put an end to magic in your family just as completely."

At the same time as the Daily Prophet was being delivered, an ICW army poured into Magical Britain with support from Muggle-born members of Her Majesties Armed Forces. There were a few skirmishes in the ministry building from British Aurors who refused to lay down their wands, but the greater numbers of invaders put the defenders on the floor, many permanently. Director Rufus Scrimgeour was taken into custody and taken to Zurich for questioning. He never returned to Magical Britain.

A few individuals lost their magic including Amos and Joy Diggory, Dolores Umbridge, and Molly Weasley. Arthur Weasley never recovered from his wife being 'taken' from him, and only lived long enough to see Ginny graduate from Hogwarts and launch her successful career in Quidditch. Ron flunked out of Hogwarts before his seventh year and went to work in the Leaky Cauldron where he found success and satisfaction as the cook in the kitchens.

Never returning to the Burrow, George and Fred adopted the name 'Evans' and opened a successful joke shop in Diagon Alley and through the ICW troops, the twins developed a following on the continent where they opened more shops. They never reconciled with their father. Fred and George heard from Percy (who took his wife's name when they married) and spoke occasionally with Bill (living in Australia) and Charlie (living in Rumania).

The ghost of Cedric Diggory took up residence in Hogwarts and spent the next few centuries with Myrtle Warren haunting the second floor of the school.

The fate of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was never known. The purebloods who had arranged for him to disappear never admitted what they did with the old wizard. When the ICW got around to questioning the 'new' muggles, the ring leaders had expired from the trauma of losing their magic. Perhaps, like Merlin, Dumbledore's legacy was better served by no one knowing exactly what happened to him.

CHANGE SCENE: Casualty of Change

Germaine Holland was proud to be the Administrative Head of Saint Mungos Hospital. The façade of the abandoned warehouse in London had stood for over a century as the centre of quality care for all the good wizards and witches in Magical Britain. Yes, they did treat half-bloods and the occasional muggle-born for publicity's sake, but their primary goal was to provide the best care possible to the pureblood families in Magical Britain.

However, there were problems with the hospital's budget that were growing exponentially in the last twenty-four months. The ministry's financial problems meant there was no funding from that entity (and padded salaries of the administrators at the hospital sucked out a big percentage of funds each year). The two largest sources of donations to the hospital were Lucius Malfoy (from his personal wealth) and his wife, Narcissa Malfoy (who administered the Black Family Hospital Trust). The couple were both dead and that source of their funding dried up immediately.

The approach to Regent Black, Andromeda Tonks, for renewed or expanded funding for Saint Mungos was met with a long list of questions from Heir Black, the boy named Colin Creevey. In his letter to Healer Holland, the young wizard mentioned that his brother was interested in healing and had come to the hospital asking questions.

'But the witch at the admitting station laughed at my brother for being a muddy-blood and told him to take his muddy-self back to the muggles for health care. Is it the policy of the hospital to not provide care for all magical people regardless of blood status?'

Healer Holland pretended that encounter never happened when she approached Regent Black a second time in her law offices. When questioned about the list of questions from Heir Black, Healer Holland prevaricated any direct answer but promised to send responses soon.

And Andromeda said, "Very well. And I understand that Heir Black's mother is expecting another child – another child for the Black family. What level of care can she expect from the healers at Saint Mungo's?"

"Heir Black's mother…but she's a muggle."

"A squib actually who has birthed four powerful young wizards and witches."

"But we don't let those people into our hospital. We can't. Purebloods won't come to Saint Mungo's if they learn that we contaminated the beds with…such a person."

Andromeda nodded and said, "I'll make certain Heir Black understands the importance of keeping Saint Mungo's pure for the purebloods."

"Good," Healer Holland agreed. "And rumour has it that Heir Potter's vaults are full of galleons from his basilisk. Saint Mungos could use a donation from him of galleons and potion ingredients."

"Again, I will pass along your request to Heir Potter."

Healer Holland left the office through the floo believing the witch would make the two boys – a half-blood and a muddy-born – recognize the importance of supporting the hospital.

There was a contentious meeting between Healer Holland and an assembly that included Heir Potter, Heir Black (and his parents), Marius Black, and Andromeda and Ted Tonks, in late July after the ICW assumed control of Magical Britain. The meeting occurred in a chamber in Gringotts under the careful scrutiny of the goblins. Healer Holland was desperate for funds to make payroll now that the ministry was completely bankrupt and under occupation by the ICW.

"What are we to do if you bloody muddy boys won't give us the galleons we need? People need medical care!"

"Indeed they do," said Marius Creevey (Black). "My wife died of cancer, but Saint Mungos wouldn't treat her. My son died of injuries in a car accident, but Saint Mungos wouldn't treat him."

"But they were mudbloods!" Holland protested. "We don't treat them! Only magical people receive treatment here and purebloods get preference."

"Even today, purebloods choose to remain blind to reality," Marius said. "And this meeting is a waste of time."

Healer Holland returned to Saint Mungo's and told the healers there were no funds for their salaries or supplies to keep the hospital open. Representatives from the ICW arrived two days later and relieved the few healers and workers who had remained at their stations. The patients were moved to a temporary facility established in the deserted Malfoy Manor where ICW healers provided high-quality services. This replacement was scheduled to last for three weeks and then close.

CHANGE SCENE: Derby

Within those three weeks, the powerhouse that was the Potter-Black alliance opened a new medical facility in Derby in northern England. This facility was located in an abandoned Black estate house under muggle notice-me-not wards. ICW healers from around the world staffed the hospital and treated every magical person equally. Some pureblood families refused to come to the hospital and depended on healers in private practice.

The Daily Prophet (under ICW control) printed information about the new hospital with floo addresses available to receive new patients. Licensed Healers in private practice were provided with information on how to obtain any needed potions (provided by the ICW).

At the manor house, the extensive outbuildings were remodelled and expanded with magic while goblins and elves constructed new wings to connect the buildings together to make a large hospital. Here, Harry Potter used the first of his twelve-brother runic arrays to establish power wards to protect the buildings and employees. Everyone was welcomed for treatment and was treated equally.

While everyone pretended not to be nervous about the werewolves who appeared for treatment, it still took some time before they were truly welcomed like every other patient.

CHANGE SCENE: Werewolves

Working through Gringotts without input from his lawyers or anyone else, Harry Potter quietly turned a deserted Potter property into a werewolf sanctuary. There the werewolves could receive food, clothing, job counselling and access to an island off the coast of England where they could run as a pack during the full moon. When Andromeda Tonks discovered this illegal facility, she screamed at Heir Potter for ten minutes.

Then she was informed of the resolution already in the works – under ICW supervision, the goblins leased both properties from Heir Potter for 100 years, paid the muggle-born wizards and witches who worked there and most importantly, employed the werewolves to work construction in their caverns. All of the werewolves were magical wizards with strength and a willingness to work extra hours to prove their reliability.

A village for the werewolves and their families was built on the estate. There was a school for werewolf children and Remus Lupin was approached about consulting there in the summer to help design the curriculum. Lady Augusta Longbottom retired from her role as Deputy Headmistress at Hogwarts and agreed to join Lupin in helping to design the curriculum. The Hogwarts Board of Governors (Reformed) began discussions about accepting the first werewolf students in three years' time.

The village and manor house sanctuary were protected from detection by disgruntled purebloods with some of the first twelve-brother protective wards that Harry Potter created that summer. The rumours were that these runic arrays did not give intruders a second chance if they arrived with ill-intent in their hearts. but no one ever returned from the few ventures against the village by rogue werewolves and the ever-decreasing number of purebloods.

Gringotts represented Potter Runic Arrays Ltd, with all potential clients.

The ICW and British muggle army occupied Magical Britain for eight years. The Ministry for Magic was completed gutted, moved to a location in the Welsh mountains, and rebuilt on a democratic basis like muggle Britain. In addition to regular wizards and witches, werewolves were granted the right to vote. The laws were changed to protect magical creatures and three dragon sanctuaries were opened on remote Scottish islands.

CHANGE SCENERY: Hogwarts 1 September 1995

Headmaster Bennet spent the entirety of the day in the entrance hall at Hogwarts. Throughout the morning, returning students arrived via the floo, apparition by their parents, or via the horseless carriages that continually moved from Hogsmeade to Hogwarts. While the muggle parents of muggle-born could not visit the castle (yet), the headmaster was determined that there would be a way for them to visit in a year or two.

Muggle-born firsties were each assigned an older student to welcome them and keep them company the whole of that first day. Harry Potter, as one of the fifth-year prefects, helped lead all the firsties from the castle down to the old train station in Hogsmeade (in the horseless carriages) where they climbed into the little boats and travelled across Black Lake as the sun was setting. The prefects were encouraged to ride in the boats and enjoy the sight of Hogwarts reflected in the setting sun once again.

Fawkes made herself at home talking to each firstie at least twice during the day to calm their nerves, ask about their families, and encourage them to write letters tomorrow morning about their adventures on this first day of their education. The sorting hat was placed on the head of each firstie by the new Deputy Headmaster (Filius Flitwick) using the levitation charm he promised they would all learn in their charms class.

The school year went without too many hiccups as the students moved through their expanded classes. The New Daily Prophet was delivered each morning during breakfast and the students all listened carefully to their history professor and muggle/magical life professors discussing the changes occurring in Magical Britain.

Before Halloween 1995, Neville Longbottom was betrothed to Luna Lovegood. She was resorted to Gryffindor to be with the wizard-who-rescued-her. And in a surprise to everyone, especially Harry Potter, Hannah Abbot returned to Hogwarts that year and caught his attention so completely that after Christmas they were officially dating.

Harry Potter worked with Hogwarts on her Sandstone Plate business that grew to include a Gringotts pickup portal on the seventh floor near the tapestry of the wizard teaching trolls to dance ballet. Intrepid students learned that this was the spot the elves appeared with the sandstone plates packaged for shipment.

The twelve-brother runic arrays used to protect the hospital in Derby and the werewolf sanctuary (hidden) created a firestorm of course that generated invitations for Freshgold to speak at goblin meetings in every Gringotts branch, as well as every meeting of the Runic Guild around the world. In every case, Harry Freshgold Potter listened to the advice of Great Evil and Less Evil Tonks, Bloodhook Potter-Vault Manager, and Dobby Potter-Elf if he should attend and argue with the magic users at the meetings or politely decline.

CHANGE SCENE: Epilogue

Over the next fifty Bloodhook often wondered how Freshgold pulled off the final destruction of the pureblood rule by removing magic from that bundle of families in Magical Britain. His suspicions varied from ninja goblins (which he rejected because HE wasn't involved), overpowered castle wards (but there were no rush jobs to repair runes at Hogwarts afterwards), secret Department of Mysteries interventions (but the DoM pestered Harry Potter terribly for several years until they suddenly stopped about the same time the ICW stopped because of some new runic array), and one crazy house-elf. Dobby never commented on the Armageddon Runes with Bloodhook and continued to deliver Harry's weekly contribution of fresh gold during those fifty years it took to cleanse European gold of the taint of Nicolas Flamel's gold.

Enamoured with the characters in Star Wars, Dobby wore his funny robes and socks for the rest of his life. The elf married and his children were all named for characters in the movies including Yoda, Chewie, Luke, Obi-wan, Anakin, Leia, and Padmé. The house-elf told wild tales about his Mr Harry Potter, Freshgold, Master of Runes, Father of James, Neville, Luna, Lily, Grace, Evan, and Gregory Potter.

Harry's home life was everything he'd hoped for. His wife, Hannah Potter, was a happy wife and loving mother. The Potter children all attended their local primary school before Hogwarts. And each Potter child arrived at Hogwarts with one of Dobby's children or students as their personal elves to protect them and remind them when they were being a 'stupid wizard'. In his private studies of runes, Harry Potter continued to change magic and make it stronger his entire life but he spent time with his wife and family every day.

And no one (except possibly Hannah) noticed that Harry always made time for any house-elf who appeared at his door in need of a new (better) family. This was part of his deal with the house-elves of Britain. In his blood feud with the purebloods, Harry and Dobby asked for the help of house-elves living in Britain. It only took a day for Harry and Dobby to organize the Gringotts elves, recruit the elves from the Ministry, and then provide directions to the elves at Hogwarts. At Harry's command, the elves would kidnap the families and individuals from their homes, and in a large, rented chamber underneath Gringotts London, Harry's Armageddon Runes removed magic from the men, women, and children. In less than a week, Harry Potter removed six pureblood families from Magical Britain and ended the government based upon the Wizengamot.

In all, eighty-seven elves, under the direction of Dobby Potter elf managed the disappearances. It took only ten minutes or less for Mr Harry Potter to remove a family's magic and then the elves put the stupid wizards and witches to sleep for the rest of the night. The next morning, another group of elves delivered the new 'muggles' to the offices of the Daily Prophet. The elves returned to their jobs at Hogwarts, Gringotts, or the Ministry the next day as if they'd never been gone.
