Disclaimer: I don't own either of these franchises, obviously (duh)

Authors Note: This is one of my first published attempts at a story, particularly a crossover. I am primarily writing this because I enjoy both series and I enjoy creative writing. I have a rough plot planned out but I am also a college student in an engineering program so updates will most likely be sporadic. This first chapter is just a bit of an introduction and will be quite short, I am in the process of writing a longer second chapter that will establish many of the characters and kickstart the plot. Leave reviews if you feel like it, any advice or creative criticism is welcome, but remember that I am primarily doing this to practice creative writing and that I am not a professional author. Hope you enjoy!

Update: I just fixed a few grammatical and word choice errors that were grating on me after I re-read this today.

Trek Through Magical Stars

Ch 1: A Most Miraculous Arrival

As Dumbledore turned to head to the room where the three champions were waiting, he spun around suddenly as the sound of a whooshing flame met his ears. Out of reflex he caught the still smoldering piece of parchment as it fluttered to the ground. His eyes absorbed the name on the page in disbelief, partially out of shock and the other half disbelief Dumbledore called out, "Harry Potter".

The hall that had been almost totally silent since the goblet choose a fourth contestant descended into a symphony of sounds conveying disbelief, astonishment, anger, and even some wonderment. As it was nothing short of a miracle or perhaps a curse that the goblet of fire, an ancient and only partially understood magical object, had just spit out the name of the boy-who-went-missing.

Dumbledore, who would usually have used his authoritative but grandfatherly voice to quiet down the hall could only stare at the words on the parchment in front of him. It was the name of perhaps his greatest failure other than Tom Riddle. Harry Potter, the boy he had given to his muggle relatives to care for, had vanished 7 years ago. He had only found out when the wards around the house fell as their fuel source had disappeared. The Dursley's couldn't have cared less that the boy disappeared, they had been excited really when they learned that Harry had just vanished one day. After a little bit of Legitimacy on their son he found that Harry had been chases into the woods by his whale of a cousin. Woods that he had never came out of, and that an extensive search of by the DMLE had produced nothing. And now a boy who the wizarding world had heard nothing from for the past 7 years was the fourth champion of the Tri-Wizard tournament.

Dumbledore, and the rest of the hall, were broken out of their trances and anarchy respectfully when a bright sphere of light began to build in the Great Hall. The sphere was painful to look at, just like trying to stare into the sun on a bright summer day. The Professors not quite as distracted as Dumbledore by the drawing of Potters name began to usher pupils away from the unknown orb. A minute later most of the room had retreated to near the walls, leaving Dumbledore standing where he had caught the parchment to examine the growing sphere incuriously.

Unfortunately for anyone brave enough to be looking in the general direction of the sphere it was nearing critical mass. As it passed the threshold the sphere imploded and a flash comparable to a muggle nuclear bomb going off showered the room accompanied by a thunderous boom shook the entire ancient castle to its stone foundations.

Most everyone was blinded, although only temporarily. Even those unfortunate enough to be looking at the explosion of light thankfully. When everyone's vision cleared up there was a strange man lying on the stone floor in front of the goblet. He was a rather tall middle-aged man, and perhaps the most distinguishing feature about him was what he was wearing. He was currently clad in a strange looking uniform, a combination of mostly black with his upper chest covered in grey. Near his neck there was a red collar. Only Dumbledore and the closest students to the man noticed the 4 golden pips fastened to the collar. Perhaps most fascinating however, if anyone had actually noticed, would have been the new star that appeared on the ceiling at the same moment the man appeared.

With the appearance of the man the entire hall went silent again as the professors and a few of the prefects and older students drew their wands and pointed them at the unknown man. As they were doing this the man began to come too as he let out a rather loud groan. He began to pick himself up off the cold stone floor and stood up, the goblet of fire casting a bluish light over him. After picking himself up he took a good look around him before he yelled, "Qu'vatlh!".

Immediately after his outburst he noticed the wands being pointed at him and even if he did not exactly know what they were tensed. They were held like weapons, which meant they were probably dangerous like weapons as well. The slight tensing of the muscles and shift of stance to a more combat ready pose was only noticed by the wizards and witches in the room who had fought in the last war against he-who-must-not-be-named. The man's eyes quickly met Dumbledore's own, partially due to the fact that he was the closest person to him and the fact that many in the room were looking at the elderly man for ques on what to do. Dumbledore instead of analyzing the man as the man was analyzing him just stared into the killing curse green eyes that the man possessed. While a few more experienced wizards in the room, particularly one Severus Snape, reasoned that the headmaster was performing a Legitimacy attack on the unknown figure, Dumbledore was actually focused on finding out why the man's eyes looked just a little bit wrong to him. Sure, they seemed human enough, but for a man who has spent years using people's eyes to figure them out there was just something slightly off about these ones.

Just as it seemed like the imposing silence in the room was never going to break the man spoke up in an authoritative voice, "Alright! Now someone is going to tell me what the hell just happened to me. They are going to explain exactly how I arrived here and the mechanisms that they used to accomplish it, what planet we are on, and if they know what the exact punishment for kidnapping a Starfleet service member is".

No one spoke up immediately, perhaps they were surprised by the questions asked or perhaps it had to do with the tone he yelled the question in as it had quite a bit of venom behind it. Seeing that nobody answered his question what the man deemed an acceptable time frame he tapped the metal badge on his chest. To the surprise of a few muggleborn students in the crowd it made an electronic chirp, in Hogwarts!

"Potter to Valkyrie, come in Valkyrie", said the man. His statement reminded those who had seen them of a few muggle movies where people talked on radios or walkie talkies.

A few seconds later the badge chirped again, but this time a static filled, and choppy voice came out of it. "Ca . . .tin . . . wh . . . st. . . happ . . . Th . . . nnect . . . is . . . ad . . . hav . . .g . . . ouble . . . lock . . . to . . . ou . . . ying t. . . ompensa . . .". After that the sound died leaving an eerily quiet great hall.

Dumbledore by this point had worked out what he wanted to say and began in his classic grandfatherly voice, "I am sorry sir, but we had nothing to do with your arrival, in fact I am very much puzzled by it. Would you be willing to tell us your name?".

"My name is Captain Potter of the USS Valkyrie, now I ask again where am I? What planet are we on? I would guess a Federation colony somewhere considering you are all humans", he paused for a second here, "or at least you look human".

"What do you mean? You're on Earth of course, where else would you possible be?", asks Dumbledore in a surprised voice. His shock at what the man asked making him blurt out a question before he could think it over, "And what do you mean by that we all look human? What else would we be?". After finishing his questions, Dumbledore realized the importance that the man's name could hold. A suspicion began to seep into his head about the man's identity, and how he could have been brought to Hogwarts.

"Earth? How is that possible we were trillions of . . .", the man's face stiffened as if he realized something drastically important, he then continued, "I'm sorry, but I can't say anything more right now is there a room where we can get some more privacy Mr . . ."

Seeing that Potter wanted his name Dumbledore responded, "Dumbledore, and yes there is but I need to know is your first name Harry by chance?"

The man looked shocked for a second before he snapped, "How did you know that?"

The rest of the room at this point catches onto what Dumbledore had all but just confirmed, that this man was somehow the boy-who-lived, or at least had an identical name. Quiet whispers started to break out all over the room as students and even some teachers began to gossip feverously.

"I'll tell you everything if you would follow me Mr. Potter. I am sure that a little more privacy would be appreciated by all parties", says Dumbledore now wanting to get into a room with Harry to find out what the hell had happened to him and where he had been for the past 7 or possibly more years.

Looking at Dumbledore suspiciously Harry began to move towards him when he was suddenly engulfed in a column of white shimmering light that was accompanied by a loud sound before he disappeared. At this turn of events pandemonium broke out in the Great Hall for a second time in one night as the boy-who-lived vanished minutes after he was found after having been missing for 7 long years.
