Sith Effect Timeline

~ 50,000 B.C.: As the Sith Empire's destruction by the Republic and the Jedi is upon them, the remaining Sith Lords converge on Korriban for a last attempt to escape annihilation by enacting a ritual to transport their home world to another galaxy. The ritual consumes 80% of all life on Korriban and all of the Force Ghosts bound to the planet, but they successfully move the world into a new galaxy with a handful of their starships in orbit.

Korriban becomes the fourth planet in their new star system and faces a massive climate change due to their new proximity to the system's star. As terraforming commences, the shattered empire is attacked by the Reapers during their purge and no longer have the military might to fight them off. Seeing no other option, they lock all their knowledge within the deep archives of the Sith Academy, relocate to the system's third planet, and use Sith Alchemy to devolve themselves into a primitive race genetically programed to quickly become sentient to succeed the Sith, take revenge on the Reapers, and rule this new galaxy.

After the cycle ends and many generations pass, the devolved Sith primitives have progressed into sentient humans and begin to develop civilizations.

2090: The first preliminary settlement efforts are made upon Mars. Upon surveying the surface of the planet, a survey team happens upon a metal structure buried within the sand and rock. By some almost instinctual draw, the team approach the ruins and find it is a massive complex filled with artifacts and technology of an ancient alien race.

2091: The governments of Earth send research teams and military aid to the site of the alien ruins for further study. Many artifacts are collected and brought back to Earth for further study. The teams present on the Martian site all report a sense of familiarity and belonging at the ruins, some claiming to have dreams of the civilization that once lived there. Some saw wars and violence, others saw beings in an endless quest for knowledge, and some saw an empire dominated by technology beyond humanity's wildest dreams. These claims are dismissed as a form of mass hysteria, but every one of these so-called visions share one thing, this ancient race was called the Sith.

2092: The visions spread across the ranks of the research teams, some propose the idea of unknown hallucinogenic substances present in the Sith Academy ruins, as the teams have begun calling it. However, after many months of these visions, some of the personnel are able to read the ancient writings and somewhat understand the purposes of the buried technology of the Sith. More teams are dispatched to Mars, or Korriban as the more fanatical of the researchers have taken to calling it, to advance the studies.

2093: Many personnel report strange occurrences in moments of intense emotional expressions, specifically claims of telekinetic abilities. While initially written off, one soldier is able to duplicate the events after intense frustration with naysaying superiors by crushing a table without touching it. Claims of supernatural visions and abilities are no longer scoffed at and are studied extensively both on Korriban and Earth.

2094: Researchers are able to restore power to some technology within the Academy ruins and the language acquisition of the visionaries are proven, as they all understand the samples of spoken Sith language without trouble. Reports of more supernatural abilities are made on Korriban and Earth where some of the artifacts are being studied. Sith artifacts become highly sought-after treasures.

2095: Humanity begins reverse engineering some of the simpler technology of the Sith. A proper translation program is created to understand the information kept within the Sith Academy. More efforts are made to unearth the Academy and the surrounding area.

2103: Lowell City becomes the first permanent settlement on Korriban. Through the limited information extracted from available Sith technology, the source of all the telekinetic and telepathic abilities is revealed: an energy known to the Sith as, The Dark Side of The Force. Korriban is discovered to be bathed in Dark Side energies that awakens dormant powers within humans. Soldiers from all nations are sent to Korriban or exposed for long periods of time to Sith artifacts to awaken potential force abilities.

2110: Children of known Force sensitives and those born upon Korriban are found to have a high Force sensitivity rate at very young ages. Some children born on Korriban also seem to have red tinted skin, these children have an almost certain Force sensitivity. Training in the Force has advanced enough that the first Force users can not only stop bullets with telekinesis but can dodge them reliably. Some of the more dedicated practitioners have been able to create Force Lightning.

2115: Researchers are able to restore power to certain facilities within the Academy that are better preserved, including the sealed archives. Through this, humanity learns the history of the Sith and their struggles against the Jedi and the Galactic Republic. They also learn of the ritual that brought them to the Milky-Way Galaxy, their extinction by the mysterious Reapers, and how humanity are the descendants of the Sith.

The public is made aware of the findings, with certain facts omitted or embellished, and a cultural shift begins to change human customs to be more in line with the Sith of old, valuing pragmatism and individual ability while devaluing utilitarianism and restriction. Sith Basic becomes a commonly taught language. To deal with the ever-increasing number of Force sensitives and the prospect of other alien races capable of wiping them out, the Sith Academy is reopened for its intended purpose and the Order of the Sith Lords is established. Force sensitives of all ages are brought in for training.

2116: Within the archives, blueprints and designs for the technology utilized by the Old Empire, as it is called, are found, though they incorporate many technological principles and designs that humanity simply does not possess the understanding to reproduce, none the less research is put into replicating their components. Lightsabers preserved in the Academy's deep vaults are studied and there are attempts to reverse engineer them. Some of the ancient weapons are kept by the dominant Sith Lords as a sign of their power.

2120: The Sith Academy is divided into specialized pyramids of teaching in order to fully utilize the different abilities granted by the force. These pyramids are the Sorcerers, Assassins, and Warriors. Sorcerers specialize in utilizing the force directly in lighting and healing. Assassins emphasize the use of shadows and mind manipulation. Warriors focus on the use of telekinetic abilities and physical prowess.

With the first generation of Sith Lords established, they take on apprentices from the promising acolytes within the Academy. Acolytes who are not picked up are free to stay and train until they are selected for apprenticeship, prove themselves worthy of Lordship after years of study and training, or leave to reintegrate back into the rest of society.

2121: Sub-light space drives of the Old Empire are reverse engineered and implemented for faster travel between Earth and Korriban. With this technology, colonization of other planets within the solar system is more feasible.

2122: Sith architecture and design make their way into most facets of human living, most new buildings are fashioned after their ancient ancestor's and ships become near copies of their Imperial equivalent.

2125: Blasters and turbolasers are successfully reverse engineered. All military and security personnel and equipment are refitted with the new technology. Research into hyperdrive, shielding, and droid technology begins.

The pyramids of the Sith Academy reorganize themselves with one Dark Lord at the head of each. These Dark Lords of the Sith, or Darths, make up the Dark Council and guide the Sith Lords, apprentices, and acolytes. The Valley of the Dark Lords is also mostly unearthed at this time, granting access to the tombs of the ancient Sith and the treasures buried beneath.

2126: K'lor'slugs are discovered hibernating in the buried tombs and the Academy discovers a new and effective way to train their acolytes in real combat. Extermination runs into the tombs become common exercises and helps prepare the future Lords for the horrors of the galaxy.

2127: Sith Alchemy is discovered within holocrons found in the deepest tombs of Korriban. The Academy works tirelessly to recover more ancient knowledge to further the development in the Dark Side.

2129: The first successes of proper shielding are reported. They only cover half a building and require immense power to function, but further research is funded to improve them.

Most of the next generation of Sith Apprentices ascend to Lordship and take on duties to train apprentices themselves. Most retain close ties to their masters and continue to seek guidance from them.

2130: The Pyramid of Arts is founded within the Sith Academy as an alternative to using the Force purely for combat and as a way for humanity to more fully reconnect with their Sith ancestry. This was done in response to a painting by the pyramid head, Darth Vafrem, depicting the Jedi genocide of the ancient Sith Species on Korriban long ago. The painting, There is Peace, evoked such intense feelings of rage and sorrow in its audience that it was deemed an interplanetary treasure.

The pyramid of arts focuses on the use of the Force in artistic expression, ideological debate, and strategy in warfare. They use the force to reach out into the past, present, and future to gain understanding and insight.

Red skin becomes more common among all people of Earth and Korriban. Many of these individuals take to calling themselves Sith and most of them are force sensitive. Red skin becomes a sought-after trait amongst the human population due to the high rate of Force sensitivity and stronger connection to their ancestors. Sith names become common as well.

2134: As Sith Lords grow in number, many governments worry that they will eventually grow too numerous to control. Quietly many militaries look into a way to fight against a potential Sith Lord uprising and find it in the archives of the Old Empire. They told of the Mandalorians, self-professed Jedi killers, and held enough information on their creeds and techniques for humanity replicate them to fit their needs.

2135: Droids, and the programs to run them, are successfully reverse engineered. Many restrictions are placed upon them, and they are required to undergo frequent memory wipes to avoid any chance of gaining sentience.

2136: Bacta is successfully synthesized and its use spreads throughout the medical field. Many other technologies such as Sun Razors and planetary shields become theoretically possible but lack the need or resources to use them.

2137: The first wave of cybernetic implants hit the market. Life expectancy of humanity increases drastically thanks to advances in medicine, cybernetics, and Force abilities.

2138: Shield technology has reached the point where a ship can carry a generator and be reliably shielded from turbolaser fire from roughly the same caliber of ship for extended periods of time.

2139: The third wave of new Sith Lords complete their apprenticeships and are ready to take on their own, essentially doubling the number of apprenticeships available. Requirements for elevation from acolyte to apprentice are tightened so that only the strongest are eligible to be taken by a master. This is done to ensure that the strongest Sith become Lords faster and can train more apprentices sooner.

2140: The use of droids becomes widespread throughout all aspects of society. This creates a small economic crash with an almost completely automatic unskilled labor force. Riots erupt across Earth and Korriban as job shortages become common. The Sith Lords are quick to act upon Korriban and put down the more violent demonstrators with brutal effectiveness, cowing most other groups into compliance in the process. After seeing the effectiveness on Korriban, the Sith Lords are let loose on Earth.

2141: Civil war breaks out as the Lords crack down on the dissenters. The rebels' efforts prove futile as the warriors crush their soldiers and the assassins root out their secret bases. The Sith Lords become the stuff of legend and are seen by many as bringers of justice and progress among humanity. To further alleviate any possible reemergence of the conflict, expanded opportunities for military service are opened up. Military service becomes the most popular occupation overnight.

2142: The first modern lightsaber is built, yet despite the knowledge and technology available to do so, Earth and Korriban lack the necessary Kyber Crystals to make more, with the only crystals available being the ones scavenged from tombs. They are more a sign of ability and stature rather than battle weapons.

2143: Project Mando is realized as a few hundred elite warriors trained in the ancient creeds of the Mandalorians are put into service with cutting edge weapons, the latest in armored equipment, and experimental technology. In a joint training exercise, a group of Mandalorians almost match their Sith counterparts blow for blow, their training and tactics giving them some advantage against foes with telekinetic abilities.

2144: Humanity begins strip-mining asteroids for metal and tapping into Jupiter, Saturn, and the other gas giants of Sol for fuel materials. Materials are stockpiled by nations and corporations for future use.

2145: Sith Basic becomes the dominant language of humanity and is the primary language taught in schools.

2146: New alloys are forged based upon Sith Alchemy and ancient metals found within the old tombs. Due to the difficulty in obtaining the proper materials and the effort to imbue them with the Dark Side, they become too costly to mass produce, instead being used in Sith and Mandolorian armors for extra protection.

2147: Hyperdrive technology on par with the Old Empire's is successfully developed. The nations of Earth sign the Alliance Charter and become the Sith Alliance. Humanity changes its name to Sith to honor their spacefaring ancestors and hoping that the name will one day reign triumphant across the galaxy. The Alliance is headed by the Parliament Consuls, the four Dark Council members, and the Ministers of Warfare, Exploration, and Logistics.

2148: The Sith Alliance sets out to conquer the stars in full force utilizing the hyperdrive to search out all star systems near Sol. Surveying teams are sent to habitable planets as soon as they are found. Their efforts quickly bare fruit as the come across several habitable planets, naming them New Dromund Kaas, New Yavin, New Malicor, and New Taris.

Sun Razors are built in uninhabitable star systems to harvest matter and energy from the local stars. New materials become available to produce stronger and more durable ships.

2149: The Mass Relay is discovered within Pluto's moon, Charon, when a starship is pulled out of hyperspace by its fluctuating gravity field. The Sith archives make mention of these relays as the means by which the Reapers reached the Sol System. After much deliberation, it is decided to utilize the method of travel rather than destroy it. Upon reaching the other side of the relay, the Alliance finds the Arcturus System and discovers more relays of the network. Seeing it as a point of strategic import, the Sith Alliance begins construction of a space station in the system.

The first Star Destroyer Harrower-Class battle cruisers begin construction based upon the designs created from the ancient Sith. These designs incorporate turbolasers, ion cannons, concussion missiles, proton torpedoes, and deflector shields. Military doctrine of the Alliance is built upon the foundation of the Old Empire utilizing coordinated efforts from capitol ships, destroyers, fighters, and bombers in their attacks. New droid foundries are built to construct the legions of construction droids needed for the Alliance's foreseeable endeavors in colonization and militarization. Asteroid mining explodes across Sol and Sun Razors are pushed to maximum capacity as metal stockpiles quickly begin to thin.

2150: Through a blind light speed jump, a system is found near Sol but with only one barely habitable planet. The Sith Lords on board the exploration vessel are drawn to the frozen world and make preparations for landing. Using the Force to navigate the surface, they find a system of caves filled with blue and green Kyber Crystals. The planet is named New Ilum, after a planet of the Old Galaxy.

Sith Alchemy becomes its own pyramid in the Order of the Sith Lords, adding a new Dark Lord to the Dark Council and High Command. Use of the art on fellow Sith is forbidden, however certain groups begin to experiment regardless. Miranda Lawson is born from such an experiment with prominent scarlet skin and incredible force sensitivity.

2151: The Terminus destroyers, Supremacy fighters, and Extinction bombers for the building Sith Armada are commissioned at this time. It is also discovered that the raw Kyber Crystals found at New Ilum continually reject the Dark Side, creating faulty and unreliable lightsabers for the newly ascended Sith Lords. Research into the deep archives reveals the process of crystal bleeding in order to create a proper crimson bladed Sith Lightsaber. After many successful trials of the art, crystal bleeding and lightsaber construction becomes a right of passage for acolytes to become an apprentice.

2152: Battledroids are created and fielded for security and military use. These range from vaguely human shaped bipeds to mobile turret quadrupeds.

Colonies outside of the Sol System are established on the newly named planets of Demeter, Eden Prime, Mindor, and Terra Nova as well as the previously surveyed New Dromund Kaas, New Malicor, New Yavin, and New Taris. While not instantaneous like the Mass Relays, hyperdrives do allow for more thorough explorations of regions outside of the relay network.

2153: Based upon a megalaser design found in the Academy archives, a new dreadnought class starship is commissioned. New construction droids are implemented in ship construction, accelerating the construction of the Sith Armada.

New Ilum is colonized successfully, though travel there is restricted due to its abundance of Kyber and the value of such crystals to the Sith.

2154: John Shepard is born to Lieutenant Hanna Shepard and Lord Jason Shepard, possessing a strong connection to the force. While not possessing the red skin of the Pureblooded Sith, his eyes are a molten gold and red, proof of his strength in the Dark Side.

Sith Intelligence is formed and the Minister of Intelligence joins Alliance High Command. Agents are posted within each colony to monitor for signs of insurgency and are given state of the art and experimental equipment to carry out their orders.

2155: The First Sith Armada is completed and split into two groups, expeditionary and defensive fleets. The expeditionary fleets patrol the fringes of Sith space and scout out new worlds to conquer while the defensive fleets are stationed at valuable locations such as Sol, Arcturus, and New Ilum. The first Harrower Star Destroyer to take flight is christened, The Judgment of Marr, after an ancient Dark Lord.

2156: The first Silencer-Class Star Dreadnought, The Vengeance of Nox, is constructed, taking the Harrower design but refitting the forward hangar bays between the ship's prongs with a massive megalaser and stretching out the length of the ship to just over 1km long to accommodate a dedicated reactor. The main weapon is calculated to be strong enough to destroy scores of fully shielded ships in a single shot and can be fired in relatively rapid succession, earning it the nickname, 'Fleet Killer.' The second and third Silencer Dreadnoughts: The Strength of Imperius and The Wisdom of Occulus, begin construction.

2157: First contact…
