Chapter 1: Vacation

Carlie

"Carlie wake up you're going to be late!"My mother's words echoed through my head causing me to jump awake almost instantly. My heart was racing faster than a horse on race day. I looked at the time on my phone shocked to see that it was already 6am.I jumped out of bed so fast that I lost my balance and fell. Ouch. This was not a very good way to start my day. Normally I wouldn't be up this early on a Saturday. But this wasn't just any ole Saturday. In approximately three hours half of my junior high class would be boarding an airplane to Orlando, in the there l had been a massive fund raiser organized around the country to see which school could raise the most amount of money for cancer research. The first and second place winners won a trip to Orlando, Florida. My school got second place. First place went to some school in Chicago, Illinois.I couldn't be more excited for this trip. I didn't leave Las Vegas, Nevada very often. My parents were more than happy to never leave here for some reason.

I loved my family, after all they had taken me when I was just a baby, but I longed to explore other states. I had a great childhood here. Nobody knows much about my parents though. Apparently a young teenage boy named Edward had dropped me off at orphanage somewhere in Seattle 17 years ago. He told the staff it was better if I were raised by a different family. When the orphanage had asked about my mother all he could do was produce a paper that had been signed by her giving up her parental rights over me. Then that was it. After that I was adopted out by the only mother and father that I have ever known and loved. I had a great life here. We weren't rich by any means but we were happy. I had an annoying younger brother Eric. I had a Saint Bernard that I named Cujo. Yes. Cujo. I was a big fan of the Stephen King horror classic novel. Though it scared me enough to make sure my Cujo was always up to date on his rabies whined whimpered when he saw me getting dressed. "Oh my. I'm going to miss you to," I said softly as I kissed his head. "Be a good boy for me. Okay?"

"Are you talking to the dog again?" Eric asked me sarcastically. "You do know that he can't answer you, right?"

I rolled my eyes. "Oh shut up. Like you're one to talk. You talk to him all the time and then you pretend that he's actually answering you!""Why you-" he started to chase me around.

"Will you two knock it off!" I heard dad shout from downstairs." Sorry dad," we both said at the same time. I finished getting ready. My mom was already waiting for me by the door when I got downstairs. The two suitcases I'd finished packing the night before were right by the door

."Come on sweetie you're going to miss your plane, "I shook my head.

"Mom we have plenty of time. Try not to worry so much,"

Mom shook her head in disagreement. "Plenty of time she says," mom mumbled to did that a lot. Just as I was about to leave Cujo ran up to me and started licking my face.

"Be a good boy okay Cujo? I'll be back before you know ,"

Mom pulled me. "Okay honey come on now. You act like you're going off to war here. You're only going to be gone two weeks, "I enjoyed the drive to the airport. I took in the sight of the city that I'd called home for practically all of my life. Soon after I'd been adopted my parents and I had moved to Las Vegas. My brother would be born here a few months after our arrival. I could tell that mom wanted to cry when she dropped me off at the airport. I reminded her of what she said earlier. I'd only be gone for two weeks. My parents had tried to convince me not to participate in the fundraiser so I couldn't go on this trip. My mom was always worried that something bad would happen to me if I was out of her sight for to long. And dad, well, he just didn't want to deal with my frantic mother for two weeks.

However my parents knew me well. They knew that no matter what I was going to do whatever I wanted to do. Once I had my mind set on something nothing could stop I asked my parents for a dog three years ago they laughed and said. "Sure honey. You can get a dog when you have enough money to buy one," they thought they had set out an impossible goal for me. But I was determined more than ever to get what I wanted. So I started holding bake sales every weekend. As it turned out people loved my baked goods. It didn't take me long to earn enough money to purchase a purebred saint bernard puppy from a breeder.

I waved my mom goodbye and made my way through security and over to my gate. Less than an hour later I was boarding the airplane.

Three hours later we were landing in Chicago. I had an hour and a half before my connecting flight to Florida left so I went to look for something to eat.

I stopped at a Panda Express, my favorite fast food place, to order some orange chicken and noodles. I had just sat down and started eating when I saw three girls staring at me in annoyance.

I wondered what the heck I had done to upset these girls. Then I just shrugged it off. Maybe it was just my imagination running wild.

"Renesmee where the hell have you been? We've been looking for you all over the place,"

I looked up from food to see who was talking to me. Those three girls had walked over to me. What in the hell?

"I'm sorry I think you're mistaken. My name is Carlie and I have no idea who you three are,"

"Oh very funny Nessie. We've been looking all over for you. Where have you been? Did you change your clothes?"

"Look," I said now I was the one getting irritated. "I don't know who you are or whoever this Renesmee-Nessie-whatever her name is! I just got her from Las Vegas on my way to Orlando,"

"Oh so you remember we're all going to Orlando but you don't remember-"

I stood up. "Look I don't know who you are but I'm asking you to leave me alone," I said and walked off back to the waiting area. I glanced back once and saw the three girls staring at me in either shockor anger. I couldn't tell.I didn't care.

I saw my best friend Clara sitting by herself in the waiting area. To my surprise she looked mad when she saw me. "What's wrong?"

"Oh now you know who I am?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You pretending like you don't even know who I am. Then you rambling on and on about how your name is Renesmee. I mean seriously, what was that all about?"

I scratched my head as I thought about those three girls who thought I was this Renesmee person. This was beyond weird.

"and how did you change your clothes so fast?"

"That wasn't me. I-well-I have to go to the restroom I will be right back," I said. I needed a moment to myself. I didn't pay much attention to where I was walking though. I bumped into someone. "Ouch. I'm sorry," we both said at exactly the same time.

Them we looked up and saw each other for the first time. I gasped and stared in absolute shock. For the girl standing right in front of me looked exactly like me. Identical down to the very core. What the fuck?
