oooOOOoooOOOooo Chapter 34
The years passed quickly for the adventurous group. Before they knew it, they were getting set up in their dorms at the University of Brazil.
"Come children, let's get you settled," called Narcissa as she walked into the coed floor that was assigned to them. There were twelve rooms, even though they only needed nine at this time. They paid for the entire floor so they could be sure to save rooms for Luna, Mo, and Christine, who would be joining them next year.
The exuberant teens ran up and down the hall, choosing rooms and setting up their stuff. Amanda and her new assistant, Shaniqua, helped unpack while Chenille and her mate directed the movers on where to put what. Lucian stood in the hallway, a cell phone plastered to his ear and a secure laptop sitting on a stand. He made sure to offer each of the children a word of encouragement but otherwise didn't engage in their shenanigans. He was content to know his son would attend one of the best Wizarding and Mundane universities in the world. The endowment he set up for the school ensured they got whatever dorm placement they wanted. He had achieved his goal. Lucian Mason was now the fourth richest person in the world. His partnership with the Harnock of Gringotts made them all wildly successful.
Drake held Mara's hand as he walked her to her chosen room, right across from his own. The boys chose the right side of the hallway, while the girls chose the left. It was basically a lover's lane, though some might call it a millionaires' row.
Harry held Hermione's hand as he led her to her room, right across from his own. Andromeda swept into the room, Ted following behind her, carrying their three year old fraternal twins, Athena and Ares. Seeing the adorable little babies had given Narcissa baby fever. She was in the process of finding the appropriate surrogate to carry her own precious baby. She didn't want to ruin her body by carrying another child herself.
Christine flounced into the room and started singing and dancing. She was filming her final episode of the New Mickey Mouse Club under her stage name Christina Augilera in three days. Mara helped her get the audition and it had just taken off from there.
Drake zipped down the hallway on his skateboard. He was going semi-pro this year under the tutelage of his idol, Tony Hawke. He'd caught the man's eye when he skated the half-pipe in LAAX last year. The thing that had impressed Tony the most was how the boy never lost the connection between his feet and the board.
Harry was glad to see his cuz succeed. Harry was starting his own professional career this year. Of course, he was playing quidditch instead of X-games. Harry had caught Viktor Krum's attention while the boy was visiting for the Triwizard Tournament during Harry's fourth year. Thankfully, Harry was just a spectator, not a participant. Fleur Delacour brought home the gold, securing a victory for Beauxbatons.
Sirius had taken up motocross racing and loved every second of it. Motorcycles were his passion. Remus, Hermione, and Clarissa were too busy vying to become true know-it-alls to spend much time on such trivial pursuits. Tonks took after Christina, dedicating her life to dance. She had been accepted into the Royal Ballet. If she was also one of the top Krav Maga competitors in the world, no one minded the juxtaposition.
Hogwarts was a changed place under the very competent guidance of Andromeda and Headmistress McGonagall. The women got on like a house on fire. They'd changed the entire curriculum, including lowering the age of matriculation to 8 years old. Hogwarts was now a day school for ages 8-13 and a boarding school for 14-17 year olds. A complete mundane education was provided, as was a greatly expanded magical syllabus. It was still in the makings but Hogwarts was truly becoming the elite magical school it purported to be.
Even Ted was excelling. Turns out he was a whiz at politics. He was glad to keep his place as Wizengamot seat holder on behalf of the marauders, who wanted nothing to do with British politics. Even Drake had turned the Malfoy seat over to the very competent man.
"Is that everything?" asked Narcissa, as she checked all of the teens' rooms a few hours later. Everything seemed to be in order.
"My babies," she said, with tears in her eyes, hugging as many children to her breast as she could reach. Andromeda caught the rest of them before they could escape. They honestly didn't mind. They couldn't imagine their lives without the two women. Harry never thought he'd say it but he loved Narcissa Malfoy.
The kids hugged the two women and switched, hugging the other as well. The ladies cried as their babies took one step closer to becoming adults.
"Let's go to dinner, then we'll leave you to it," said a misty-eyed Andromeda. The teens bounced out of their dorm and onto the vibrant Brazilian street below.
"What are we doing tonight, gents?" asked a grinning Drake. He never had a dull moment with these characters.
"Second verse, same as the first," grinned Harry with a mischievous spark in his eye. Drake laughed. He wasn't sure exactly what Harry meant by that but he was absolutely certain it would be an electrifying adventure.
