Meeting Sasuke has been the best thing that has happened to her but with Sakura's psychic abilities, she is able to pick up on Sasuke's energy. She can tell he is hurting. Is she willing to wait or will she give up on her one true love?
Chapter 1
"The dishes are all washed; I just need to figure out what we're going to have for dinner tonight." Sakura was a very active woman. She always outdid herself as a girlfriend as if she was a wife — with no questions asked. It almost looked as if she enjoyed it. Having a break from the outside world made her feel exuberant. She made everything look so easy.
Sasuke said not a single word. Not even the sound of his breathing could be heard throughout their tiny apartment. But her presence was loud. Her aura was lighting up the entire room. He was still in battle with his inner darkness to notice that his own light was desperately calling his name to shine along with hers. He was somewhat jealous and confused on how she was able to shine brighter than him.
Why couldn't he be like that?
He wanted to. But the last time he did that with a woman, it was used against him in the worst way. He did not trust Sakura fully. Not yet at least. He hardly trusted himself.
She got done drying her hands with a paper towel and was silently singing to herself.
She has such a beautiful voice. A fact he couldn't deny but kept to himself. Sasuke was not good at expressing himself. He felt that showing any feelings made him weak. Sakura was a force of nature. She made him want to open up but he couldn't let go of his past to even do so.
"Are you okay, Sasuke? You haven't said a word to me." The look of concern in her eyes made him question why she even cared at all.
"I'm always okay. There is nothing wrong with me." He sounded mundane and dismissive. In fact, he didn't like that she cared so much.
"I can tell that is a lie." She was looking at him with so much longing in her eyes — wanting answers to so many questions. He was not himself and she could feel it. "If we want this to work, we need to communicate." She took two steps forward and he took one step backward. She'd be lying to herself if she said that didn't hurt her. But she was willing to keep pushing if she needed to.
Sakura has always loved Sasuke. She could see and understand him more than any other person could. Sakura could see his inner turmoils. She could see his wounds. She could see his scars. She could see his pain. And she could see he was pushing her away and letting those past hurts, override her love for him.
"What is there to talk about Sakura?" He wasn't looking at her. He was too busy trying to find other distractions in the apartment. He settled on cleaning his sword and looking at himself in its' reflection.
"Us Sasuke." Sakura stated plainly. "You've been so distant lately. I can tell you have a lot on your mind. But,"
"There is nothing on my mind, Sakura." He lifted his sword and started to mildly swing it in the air.
"You do."
Sakura is a highly intuitive woman. She feels things and sees things others cannot. She is highly observant and always calm in chaotic situations. That's what he loved most about her. She was driven, but oh God, was she stubborn!
"What Sakura? You're just going to keep standing there staring at me?"
"Someone needs to." Her answer made him halt his playful swings and look at her. She had a look of desperation, love, and longing.
Why does she care this much?
"We've been dating for almost a year now and it's been a little toxic the way you've been shutting me out so much. I'm not sure if you really want a relationship as you've claimed."
"I don't do relationships Sakura."
"Then why did you want one with me?"
Why did he?
He sighed in annoyance. He should not have dragged her into a relationship when he was not over Ino. Sakura was reminding him too much of his relationship with Ino. He was hurt too bad. He couldn't let Ino go even if she was not right for him. He put a lot of time and effort into that relationship just for her to cheat on him and cause a lot of drama and problems. In the back of his head, he wanted revenge. A lot of it. He figured if he got with Sakura, that would solve all of his problems. It only made it worse because Sakura was a good person. Too good to be true. She loved him for him. But he did not feel the same way about her. Not yet. He couldn't. He didn't want to. He didn't want to go through the same thing he went through with Ino. He felt that Sakura would do him the same way.
But he didn't even give her the chance to. He kept the door closed to not get hurt again.
"You mean to tell me, all this time, you did not want a relationship with me?" She was full of so many emotions. She was angry, disappointed, heartbroken, confused, but she for not once thought of putting her hands on him. He was not Naruto — that man drove her nuts with his antics. She shuddered at that thought.
His only answer was complete silence. And Sakura knew when Sasuke got silent, he was lost in his thoughts.
She took a deep breath and audibly let it out. She couldn't believe what she was hearing and what was happening. Sakura did not want to give up on Sasuke when she planned out a future with him. She wanted to always be by his side. She wanted to replace all that hurt with healing. She was a healer after all…
"What are you afraid of, Sasuke?" She asked lowly.
"What?" He looked at her and this time, she was looking at the ground. He could feel her energy. This woman was able to read him like a book. She seemed to be thinking long and hard.
Why is she trying so hard?
"I'm not afraid. I think it's best you leave, Sakura."
"Now you want me to go?" She snapped.
Triggered, Sasuke swiftly grabbed Sakura by her arm and pulled her to him.
"Don't you ever yell at me."
"I did not yell. I only raised my voice." She was still standing in her power. She was not afraid of Sasuke. She loved him too much to ever be afraid. She just wanted him to open up his heart to her. She would not ever judge or hurt him the way he has been hurting her.
They've been dating for quite a few months and Sasuke was always holding back. She sensed it but her feelings for him brushed them off. She was convinced that in due time, Sasuke would open up to her. When it didn't happen, she still stayed because she believed in him. She wanted Sasuke to believe in her, too. She wanted Sasuke to give her a chance.
"Leave Sakura. I'm not the man for you."
"And why do you think that? Who are you to tell me what is or isn't right for me?"
"You're too much of a good woman to be with a broken man like me."
"Are you assuming I'm unbroken?"
"…"
