A Blooming Key Ch. 01
Within the bed chambers of the King and Queen of Disney Castle, Mickey and Minnie lay asleep.
The entire world was in peace. That is until a loud boom followed by a rumble running throughout the entire castle.
The King immediately sits up. "W-what was that!?" Mickey stands in his red pajamas, summoning his sword.
"Oh, dear," Minnie turns to her king. "I do hope nobody was hurt," the queen stands, wearing her pink nightgown, and wanders over to her husband.
"Wait here, Minnie, I'll go check it out!" he runs out of the room.
The queen just shakes her head. "Always the first to jump in," she says with a smile before following after him.
.oOo.
Mickey arrives on the scene to find his Captain of the Guard, Goofy and the Court Wizard, Donald doing their best to keep a blazing fire at bay along with the Broom Servants passing buckets of water to pour over the flames.
This used to be a beautiful garden, and now most of it is gone.
The king turns to his two best friends. "What's going on?"
"Gawrsh, your majesty," Goofy uses his shield to snuff out flames. "We're not sure!"
"Blizzard!" Donald shouts putting out several flames that were growing close to the Brooms. "Everything just went kablooey! We went to check to see what it was and found this."
Mickey nods understanding his friends. The King immediately starts helping the Brooms with the buckets of water.
"Mickey?" the queen shows up along with her lady in waiting, Daisy.
"Minnie? You need to get out of here!" her husband tells her.
Minnie shakes her head as she walks over to the edge of the flames and seemingly prays. A sphere of light appears in her hands and flies over the fire, snuffing some of it out. "I'm here to help," the queen tells her husband says as she summons more spheres of light. Daisy even helps out by assisting the King and the Brooms with the buckets of water.
Everything was going smoothly at this point as most of the flames were now being controlled. Then, a wail can be heard coming from within the fire.
"Is that a—" Goofy starts only to be cut off at the sight of the Queen rushing through the flames.
Mickey shouts, "Minnie!"
Everyone else yells, "Your majesty!"
The Queen barley hears them as there is only one thing is on her mind. Whenever she runs into a strong wall of flames, Minnie just douses the flames with her magic. She finally gets to the center of the flames, where she finds the source of the wailing.
Sitting there in the middle of fire is a baby with a head of red hair and bright blue eyes wrapped up in a light blue blanket. What catches the queen's eyes is the fact that the baby seems unharmed by the flames. In fact, the fire seems to have been avoiding her. The baby looks up at the queen, smiles, and reaches up.
Minnie closes her eyes and puts the fire out before picking the baby up. "It's alright, little one. You're safe now. I wonder how you got here?" the Queen then notices that the blanket is embroidered. "Bloom? Is that your name?" She then hears her husband's shouts.
"Minnie!" Mickey approaches her from behind. He stops as his wife turns around to reveal what she is holding. "A baby? What's a baby doing here?"
"I don't know, Mickey," the Queen shakes her head. "She was just here," Minnie then shows the blanket. "Her name appears to be Bloom."
Mickey examines it. "So, it does," he smiles at the baby. "Hello, Bloom. Nice to meet you." The baby laughs at the mouse. Soon, the others arrive and surrounds Minnie holding the child.
Minnie looks up at her husband, "What should we do, Mickey?"
The King closes his eyes to think. "You said that she was just here?" he looks at her to see Minnie nodding. Mickey then turns to the wizard. "Donald! Can you tell me whether or not magic was used?"
"I'm no Yen Sid, but I can give it a try," the Duck closes his eyes to concentrate. "I definitely sense something. Not sure what, though," he turns back to the King.
Mickey nods. "I'll have to go see Master Yen Sid to know for sure," he goes to take the baby from Minnie. "I'll have to take her with me so that he can see for himself."
As soon as Bloom left the arms of the Queen, she starts crying and reaching for Minnie. Minnie takes her back, and the baby calms down. The Queen lets out a chuckle. "Guess I'll have to go with you? Been a while since I've been off world," Minnie looks up at the stars.
.oOo.
"Look, Bloom," Minnie points out the widow of the Gummi ship as the pass a world, nearly completely submerged in water. "That there is Atlantica. A world of mermaids and magic. It's a wonderful place. And that there, is Wonderland. Never been there myself, I hear that many things are topsy-turvy there," the Queen looks down at the child still wrapped in the blanket but also wearing a pink onesie.
Mickey glances at his wife from the controls with a smile on his face. He hates to ruin the moment, but "Coming up on the Mysterious Tower!"
Their landing was smooth. The track up the tower, wasn't as smooth.
Mickey lets out a huff as they reached to top of the staircase, "Really wish Yen Sid would install an elevator," he opens the door and is startled by a voice.
"That would defeat the purpose of the stairs," Yen Sid glances up from the book on his desk. "If one truly does not desire to see me then they would not bother with the stairs and turn away," he smiles at the King. "Am I to assume correctly that this visit has something to do with the massive burst of magic I sensed from your kingdom?"
Mickey nods, "Yes, Yen Sid. There was a fire in the gardens and in the center, we found her," she points at Minnie, holding a now slumbering, Bloom.
The sorcerer stands to approach them, kneels, and hums. "I need to see where you found the little one."
"I'll go prepare the ship," the King goes to make his way back down the tower only to be stopped by the sorcerer.
"That won't be necessary," with a wave of his hands, Yen Sid teleports them away from the tower.
.oOo.
"Moved that over there!" Donald shouts at the brooms to move a burnt shrub with Goofy's assistance.
Donald then sees a small ember remaining from the fire. The Duck takes his wand and prepares a spell, only to stop by a blinding light appearing before him. "Waaaaa!"
Yen Sid steps away from the King, Queen, and the baby to examine the area. "Where did you find the child, exactly?"
Minnie points at the spot she found Bloom. "Over there, Master Yen Sid."
To everyone, it appears that the old sorcerer is just glaring at the spot. But in his mind, Yen Sid is able to use magic to visualize exactly what happened. He sees the end of the fires, Minnie finding the child, Mickey and the others starting to put the flames out, he sees when the fire first appears, and before that, the sorcerer sees that for a fraction of the moment the child appeared before the flames.
Yen Sid then looks up to the night sky to consult the stars. His mind traverses across the endless sky, passing many worlds, both familiar and new. When it stops, he finds himself standing on a world that is a frozen wasteland. The Master can tell that a great tragedy happened here, but he is unsure what exactly. The image fades and he is once again standing in what remains of the castle's gardens.
"It seems that the child was sent away from her world," Yen Sid turns to the King and Queen. "Moments before it was lost." That caused everyone to gasp. "I am unsure what caused it and that is what worries me. I know not if they meant to send her here or if it was merely chance, but the intention is clear. They wanted to get young Bloom to safety."
Minnie looks down at the child. "What should we do, Master Yen Sid?" the Queen looks up at him.
"I sense a great power from her," he tells them. "In time, that power will manifest itself. Only then I can get an idea of what it is. Until then, she'll need a place of sanctuary. A place where she can be safe until she is ready. Young Bloom shall remain here." That shocked his audience.
Mickey walks up to his wife and the baby. "Exactly what do you want us to do, Master Yen Sid, and what do we tell her when she gets older?"
"Raise her and guide her. Teach Bloom kindness and love. Tell her only what she needs to know. Now, I must be on my way. Mickey!" the sorcerer faces the King. "My offer still stands."
Mickey looks at Minnie, Bloom, and the rest of his friends. "Sorry. Not now. There's a lot for me to do around here. Maybe someday."
Yen Sid smiles and nods. "I understand. Just know that when I see potential, I never take this kind of offer back. I will wait for as long as I need." With a wave of his hands, the sorcerer vanishes from their sight.
The King sighs before turning back to his Queen. "Life is going to be a little more interesting, hasn't it?"
"Oh, Mickey," Minnie kisses him. "I'm sure everything will turnout alright."
