Ship and Technology (SG Data)
Atlantis
: The first city-ship built by the Ancients during their several million-year habitation of the Milky Way galaxy, Atlantis boasts some of the most advanced and impressive technology ever invented. Its hyperdrive can take it from galaxy to galaxy in a matter of hours, and its defenses are virtually impenetrable. After losing their several hundred-year war with the Wraith, the Lanteans submerged their great city beneath the ocean and fled to Earth. Ten thousand years later, the Atlantis Expedition arrived and established a small base within the city. Using the technology of the Ancients, they took the fight back to the Wraith who had been awakened prematurely. Taking advantage of their weakened state from infighting and thousands of years of gradual decline, the Taur'i managed to give the vampiric race pause in their quest to consume every human world they came across. Now, the remnants of the Taur'i, Free Jaffa, Tok'ra, and a number of other human societies call this Ancient city home.
Population (Current)
: Taur'i - 1346 military personnel, 4,603 civilians
: Free Jaffa - 2216 warriors/pilots, 3,021 civilians
: Tok'ra - 37 symbiotes/hosts
: Pegasus Tribes - 8,229 civilians
Dimensions
: Height -1 km (Main Tower)
: Diameter - 12 km
: Circumference - 37.7 km
Defenses
Shields
: Ancient Energy Shielding - The shields of city-ships are completely impenetrable to any outside force from nuclear detonations to coronal mass ejections. Unlike other energy shields, these will not deplete or allow energy to bleed through under continuous bombardment. Rather, as long as they are supplied with sufficient energy, they maintain maximum effectiveness. The draw back to this kind of shield matrix is that it requires ZPM levels of power to operate and will not activate with anything less. When fully powered by three ZPMs, Atlantis's shield is capable of encompassing an entire planet.
Weapons
: Drones - Ancient drones are among the most advanced projectile based weapons in existence. Using sophisticated and unknown methods, they are capable of bypassing the shields of most races. Their actual effectiveness lies not in their raw destructive power, but rather their ability to phase through the shields and hulls of their targets with ease and precision. A single drone can make multiple attack runs on a target before depleting and detonating allowing for multiple key areas to be attacked. When thousands of drones are used to swarm attacking fleets, they are capable of annihilating dozens of vessels in seconds. However, given the scarcity of drones and the inability of the humans inhabiting Atlantis to make more, their use must be restricted to only the most dire of situations.
: 4 Asgard Plasma Beam Emitters - Installed by the Taur'i after the fall of their Earth, these weapons are among the most sophisticated ship-board energy weapons ever designed. The result of hundreds of years' worth of tinkering and experimentation by the Asgard to battle the Replicators, these weapons are the only ones known capable of penetrating the powerful shields of an Ori mothership. Using highly condensed beams of plasma whose heat index reaches that of an O-class star, they are able to overwhelm the shields matrix of ships at specific points. Rather than battering the defenses down, they slice through them and cause highly localized damage. However, when those areas being targeted are reactor cores and hyperdrives the resulting explosions cascade throughout the ship usually resulting in its destruction. These weapons give Atlantis a bit more to work with besides its arsenal of drones, however, their range is limited and require opposing ships to be in geosynchronous orbit above the city.
Propulsion
: Stardrive - The hyperdrive aboard Atlantis, better known as the Stardrive, is the most advanced ever created. Its top speeds are nigh-incalculable; capable of transporting the entire city from the Milky Way to Pegasus in a matter of hours. Even when not being pushed to the limit, it far out paces even the most advanced hyperdrives in use today, with only the Asgard designed hyperdrives of the O'Neill-class warships coming even remotely close. Of course, that kind of speed has a relative cost in power and requires the use of at least one ZPM to operate effectively.
: 6 Sublights- The six massive sublight engines resting on the 'bottom' the city are extremely powerful as well. They have to be in order to land and take off from a planet's surface and break the gravitational hold. For the Citadel races, creating a vessel the size of Atlantis that can do such things is not possible given their current level of technology.
: Mckay Alternate Reality Drive - Developed by Dr. Rodney Mckay, with assistance from Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter, Dr. Radek Zelenka, and Dr. Jeanie Miller, was a device capable of moving vessels from one universe to another. Using information gathered and learned from the SGC and Atlantis's experiences over the years with alternate realities, they managed to create a device that would send the Ancient city to a new universe where the last remnants of their peoples could be safe from the forces of the Ori. Interestingly, when further questioned about how he came up with the idea for the device, Dr. McKay cannot seem to come up with a straight answer. He describes it as though the idea was 'given' to him from somewhere.
Power Generation
: 3 ZPM - Zero Point Modules, or ZPM's as they are often referred to, are the most efficient and powerful energy sources the Ancients ever invented. Roughly the size of a food blender, their small size belies how much power they hold within their crystalline forms. They contain an artificially created region of subspace/time that allows for massive power generation. When unused, these devices can last for thousands, even millions, of years without degradation. In fact, when still powered their crystal housing is nearly indestructible. They are among the only devices capable of dialing an eight-symbol address on a Stargate or powering the advanced technologies of Atlantis. Unfortunately, they are also the rarest pieces of Ancient technology in existence; the Taur'i have spent years searching for them and have only managed to acquire a handful over that time.
: Several Dozen Naquadah Generators/Reactors - In July of 1999, the SGC made contact with an advanced human world known as Orban. They were able to secure trade for the specs of a Naquadah generator that could provide enormous amounts of clean energy. Not long after, the SGC refined and perfected their own version and began mass production of these generators. Eventually, when Earth began to produce a fleet of their own, scaled up versions of these generators had to be created that were capable of powering the large and advanced vessels. Since fleeing Earth, these devices have been set up all over Atlantis providing power and freeing up the ZPM's to be focused on more important tasks like powering the shields and hyperdrive.
Air Defense
: F-302 Fighter Interceptors - The first space-worthy craft developed by the SGC, the F-302 is culmination of the most advanced human technology available and recovered Goa'uld tech. Despite being entirely human designed and built, the interceptor has proven itself many times over as one of the deadliest fighters deployed by space fairing races. It has an extremely favorable kill-death ratio against its Death Glider and Wraith Dart counterparts.
: Death Gliders - The mainstay fighter of the Jaffa, the Death Glider is a fast, agile, and powerful craft that in large waves is capable of inflicting major damage on ground targets and unshielded vessels. While the pilots who man these craft are skilled, the lack of adaptable weapons on the Glider has always been its greatest disadvantage. With the help of their Tok'ra and Taur'i allies, the Jaffa hope to make modifications to adjust for these inadequacies.
: Puddle Jumpers - The Ancient designed shuttle is one that is clearly meant for recon and not open warfare. Their advanced cloaking hides them from even the most advanced sensors, and their powerful sublights can propel them away from any conflict before they can be targeted and destroyed. That being said, their small arsenal of drones makes them a dangerous threat to any ship that doesn't have extremely advanced shields in place.
Fleet Assets
Taur'i Fleet
: 3 BC-304s - This battlecruiser is the fourth generation of space-faring technology that has been constructed by the Taur'i. It serves several functions: carrier, troop transport, long-range reconnaissance, and several others. Its main strength lays in its ability to adapt to any number of mission parameters. Much of its technology is of Asgard design, and such advancements were built into the ship from the ground up. Its shields, weapons, and hyperdrives are all gifts from the now extinct race and give ships of this line a distinct advantage over others in battle.
Dimensions
: Height - 135 meters
: Length - 650 meters
: Width - 367 meters
Defenses
Shields
: Asgard Energy Shielding - Second only to their Ancient counterparts, the shields on the 304-class ships are among the strongest in the known universe. While not the latest version such as those in use on the O'Neill-class warships, they are more than capable of repelling assaults from entire fleets of ships or Naquadah-enhanced nuclear detonations. The largest issue these shields face is a lack of proper power given that Earth's Naquadah reactors simply don't provide enough for the shields to be used to their full potential. When a stronger power source is tied in, such as a ZPM, these shields are capable of blocking a coronal mass ejection for several minutes of non-stop bombardment.
Weapons
: 4 Asgard Plasma Beams - These weapons are among the most sophisticated ship-board energy weapons ever designed. The result of hundreds of years' worth of tinkering and experimentation by the Asgard in an attempt to battle the Replicators, these weapons are the only ones known capable of penetrating the powerful shields of an Ori mothership.
: 16 VLS Mark VIII Nuclear Missile Tubes - Before the Asgard gifted Earth APB's, the primary weapon of choice on 304's were the Mark VIII nukes developed at Area 51. Roughly a thousand megatons a piece, they were relatively low-yield nuclear warheads that were enhanced with Naquadah giving them a much bigger punch. One nuke was capable of inflicting massive damage on a Wraith Hiveship, and several could blow down the shields of low-end Goa'uld motherships.
: 32 Railguns - Developed in the later years of the Stargate Program thanks to the discovery of more durable materials and superior power generation, railguns are the primary air-defense weapons onboard 304's. Using advanced targeting software, these placements provide nearly total coverage of the space around the ship and are capable of shooting down anything from fighters to Al'kesh. They are very effective against armored ships. Unfortunately, they are almost entirely useless against shielded capital ships.
Fighter Compliment
:16 F-302 Fighter Interceptors - The first space-worthy craft developed by the SGC, the F-302 is culmination of the most advanced human technology available and recovered Goa'uld tech. Despite being entirely human designed and built, the interceptor has proven itself many times over as one of the deadliest fighters deployed by space fairing races. It has an extremely favorable kill-death ratio against its Death Glider and Wraith Dart counterparts.
Propulsion
: Asgard Hyperdrive - The Asgard hyperdrive aboard the 304 is extremely advanced, and among the fastest ever created. It is capable traveling between the Milky Way and Pegasus in about three weeks' time. If powered by a ZPM or a comparable power source, it can make the trip in a third of the time.
: Sublights - Thanks to the advanced inertial dampeners protecting its crew, the ion drives on the 304-class vessels can accelerate to 150,000 meters per second.
Power Generation
: Primary Naquadah Reactor/Secondary Generators - In July of 1999, the SGC made contact with an advanced human world known as Orban. They were able to secure trade for the specs of a Naquadah generator that could provide enormous amounts of clean energy. Not long after, the SGC refined and perfected their design and began mass production of these generators. Eventually, when Earth began to produce a fleet of their own scaled up versions of these generators had to be created that were capable of powering the large and advanced vessels.
Jaffa Fleet
: 4 Ha'tak Motherships - The primary vessel in the Goa'uld fleet for thousands of years, the Ha'tak was a sight of fear and destruction to all who opposed the System Lords. While their individual effectiveness in combat was questionable, the System Lords deployed hundreds, sometimes thousands, in conflicts with rival civilizations or System Lords. Each mothership holds a massive crew capacity and is capable of laying siege to an entire world. It can fulfil every role from orbital bombardment to ground assault with its legions of Jaffa warriors.
Dimensions
: Height - 315 meters
: Length - 700 meters
: Width - 650 meters
Defenses
Shields
: Goa'uld Energy Shielding - Despite being inferior to their Asgard or Ancient counterparts, are still extremely effective at blocking attacks from ships at their level of technology. They can withstand Naquadah enhanced nuclear warheads as the SGC found out during Apophis's assault on Earth.
Weapons
: 60 Staff Cannons - Each mothership comes equipped with a mixture of heavy and light staff cannons that cover the entire hull. There are no blind spots. When dialed up to their maximum settings, the combined fire power of Ha'tak staff cannons can equal up to 200 hundred megatons. However, doing so requires nearly all available power to be directed from other key systems such as shields and sublights, leaving the ship dangerously vulnerable to attack.
Fighter Compliment
: Twelve Squadrons of Death Gliders -The mainstay fighter of the Jaffa, the Death Glider is a fast, agile, and powerful craft that in large waves is capable of inflicting major damage on ground targets and unshielded vessels. While the pilots who man these craft are skilled, the lack of adaptable weapons on the Glider has always been its greatest disadvantage.
: Al'kesh - Al'kesh are light bomber escorts that operate in groups of three along with a Ha'tak. They are lightly shielded, and posses a turret capable of attacking fighters as well as dropping massive plasma charges for precision strikes against ground targets.
Propulsion
: Sublights - Little is known about the advanced sublights that propel Ha'tak through space. There are no visible exhaust ports anywhere on the ship. This seemingly invisible means of propulsion, however, allows the Ha'tak to be extremely maneuverable and fast, being able to outpace ships in its weight class easily.
Power Generation
: Naquadah Reactor - The Goa'uld installed a massive reactor in their ships that allow for more power to be transferred to their relatively low-tech shields and hyperdrives. This allows their ships to better compete with more advanced ships of rival civilizations. Given more advanced technology, the power generating capabilities of Ha'tak would give them a distinct advantage as seen with Anubis's enhanced ships.
