Disclaimer: I do not own Smallville or anything else you may recognize

I got this idea due to a conversation I had with Brainstorm Sorcerer once, so thank you to him.

Enjoy.

Geoff grabbed Clark's arm and tried to paralyze him. Clark pushed Geoff's hand away.

"Why isn't it working?" Geoff asked in horror.

Clark slammed him against the car again. "Tell me where she is!"

Geoff sounded upset. "It was never supposed to be like this, Clark."

"Where is she?!" Clark asked more forcefully.

"I never even used my powers in high school, but when I came to college I had to win so bad. I started. I couldn't stop!"

"Geoff, listen to me", Clark snarled, getting angrier by the moment. "Not long ago, someone I cared about was framed for something she did not do. The entire town turned against her, just because she was different. And the guy who did it, he killed her. I couldn't save her."

As Geoff listened, Clark's voice turned into a growl. "I didn't do much to that guy, as much as I wanted to. But you…you are right here in front of me, and you framed someone else I care about for something she didn't do, and you're going to kill her. Imagine the things I could do to you, since you are here in his place."

Geoff now felt afraid of Clark, who slightly pressed his shoulder with a finger, and Geoff let out a scream of utter pain.

"WHERE IS SHE?!"

"She's down there!" Geoff pointed at the sewer grate.

Scoffing, Clark carelessly tossed Geoff away.

Lois was in the flooded room. The water was now covering her face. Her eyes were still open and bubbles came from her nose and mouth as she exhaled.

Clark jumped into the sewer from the hole in the ground and ran down the hallway.

"Lois!" He got to the end of the hall and saw the flooded room through the barred door. Then he saw Lois under the water.

He shot his Heat Vision at the iron door and it fell down. He ran into the room and grabbed Lois, pulling her head out of the water.

"Lois! Lois! Lois", he called out frantically as he remembered holding someone else's body just like this not too long ago. He held her close to him.

"Lois, can you hear me?"

No response.

'Please, not you too.'

"Lois?"

And then Lois called out faintly. "Clark."

"It's okay", Clark sighed in relief. "You're gonna be okay."

He felt a few tears rolling down his cheeks. Tears of grief and relief both.

Later

Clark sat in the loft looking out the window. Lois came in behind him. "Knock, knock."

Clark turned around.

"You should think about putting up a door or something. I don't know, maybe it's a city thing, but where I come from, we like to have a little privacy."

Clark was smiling. "Lois, who would've thought I'd be relieved to hear your voice?"

Lois told him genuinely. "Look, Clark, I don't know how you did it, but if it weren't for you, I'd be at the bottom of the Mississippi right about now. Thanks."

Clark sighed, wiping his face as he looked down.

"Something wrong, Smallville?" Lois inquired kindly.

"Sometime ago, Alicia was framed for something she didn't do", Clark told Lois. "And then, the guy who did it killed her. I wasn't gonna let the same thing happen to you."

Lois almost smiled, but stopped herself from doing so, because she knew what Clark felt for Alicia. The almost-smile was because of the realization at how much Clark cared about her.

Beneath all the bantering and sassing, the two of them very much cared about each other. The entire insulting game they played was nothing more than a form of friendship…and foreplay!

Bu neither one was ready to admit that yet.

Walking forwards, Lois gave a Clark a hug. "Thank you. I know how hard this must have been for you too."

Clark lost himself in her embrace, embracing her back, as they held each other for a moment. He was just glad Lois didn't end up sharing the same fate as Alicia, after ending up in a similar situation. She had come very close. But he wasn't gonna let the same thing happen to her, or anyone else he cared about.

They parted as he told her. "I'm just glad you're okay and going back to school."

After that sentence, both of them were back to behaving like usual with each other, and for now, they would have it no other way.

I was already disgusted at how this episode shrugged off Clark's grief over Alicia from the previous episode. It was like none of that even happened, like seriously?

But then this episode even had a parallel to the previous one, and that became its most unforgivable sin!

Alicia and Lois both got framed for something they didn't do, and the actual culprit tried to kill them too. Only difference is that Alicia got killed while Clark got to Lois in time.

And we don't see any reaction from him over any of this, so soon after Alicia? Not buying it.

Smallville is one of my favorite shows of all time, my favorite DC show (and live-action DC product) of all time, and my 3rd favorite comic book show of all time (only behind Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD), but how they handled Alicia has always been one of my gripes with it.

Plus its pretty obvious Clark loved Alicia, and I'm not buying anyone who says otherwise.

Guess the writers could only have Clark remember Alicia when they had to prop up Clana by making Clark claim he never loved Alicia. Eurrgh!

And making Clark go a bit darker is always fun.

Plus this way I also hint that Clark and Lois will end up being something more eventually, which they do in Seasons 9 and 10. The whole Clark/Lana thing was cute until Season 2 but got really tiresome after that. Clark/Lois forever! In 'Smallville' that is.

Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with some other update.
