Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, this is just my sandcastle on the beach that is the Harry Potter Universe.

"As a matter of fact, I did Confund him,' Ron whispered to Harry, 'I only forgot to look in the wing mirror, and let's face it, I can use a Supersensory charm for that.'

Two days later, Ron and Harry were summoned by Susan Bones, the new Auror Commander, in her office.

'Hello Harry, I see you failed to report a case of muggle baiting that was provided to you, on a silver platter, one might say,' said Susan as Ron and Harry entered the room.

'I'm sorry Susan, nothing like that comes to mind,' said Harry.

'I'm sure it's entirely acceptable to use a confundus charm on a muggle, isn't that right Auror Weasley?', said Susan with a dangerous tone to her voice.

'Oh, that was nothing Susan, he wouldn't even have remembered it,' said Ron, still not all that concerned.

'Well, I'm sure you could've been a bit creative than that,' said Susan, 'I doubt he'd have remembered it if you had Imperiused and then obliviated them.'

'Those are two entirely different situations, ma'am,' Harry addressed her, obviously realising that she was not likely to push into the rug, 'Comparing them is like comparing water and wine.'

'Well, Harry, I'm sure you remember the oath that we all took, about making the world a better place for all, not just witches and wizards, a society where no one, no matter how rich or powerful they may be, is above the law,' said Susan. 'Doesn't using potentially harmful magic on a muggle without their knowledge or permission be a violation of that, Auror Potter?'

'Yes, ma'am,' said Harry, looking resigned.

'Am I also right in assuming that you know the penalties for using magic on a muggle and knowingly hiding information pertaining to such crimes from the DMLE?' asked Susan rhetorically.

'Yes, ma'am,' said Harry.

'So, starting now, you're both suspended without pay, till the investigation pertaining to this, and should there be, any previous cases, is complete,' said Susan with a note of finality in her voice.

'Hey, Harry, she can't do this,' Ron practically shouted, 'You're the Boy-Who-Lived, do something.'

'What do you want me to do, Ron?' asked Harry tersely.

'I don't know, do something, make her cancel the suspension and take back the investigation,' said Ron.

'Ron, Godric's Hollow, ten minutes,' said Harry, 'And bring Hermione.'

'Harry, what is the meaning of this?' Hermione asked angrily as she streamed into the Potter Cottage in Godric's Hollow.

'What is the meaning of what, Hermione?' replied Harry.

'Ron says you're both suspended indefinitely without pay,' said Hermione.

'Yes, and did he tell you the reason why we're suspended in the first place,' asked Harry with appointed look towards Ron.

'He said that it's all your fault and said that I'd better ask you personally,' said Hermione, sitting down on the couch, next to Ron who had already sat and was demolishing a plate of biscuits.

'Oh, let me tell you, our dear Ron here used a Confundo on the driving examiner and someone found out about it and since he'd told me at the train station, I'm suspended too along with him,' explained Harry.

'And you're telling me you weren't able to overturn her decision,' said Hermione incredulously, 'You're the Boy-Who-Lived for Merlin's sake.'

'I'm the Boy-Who-Lived, Hermione, not a god who can do anything,' shouted Harry, finally losing his temper.

'Oh, don't do the I'm powerless act in the front of me,' responded Hermione, 'I know full well that you can do it, you just chose not to. In fact, I'm quite sure that you'll get your suspension overturned, but not Ron's; isn't that right Harry?'

'What possible benefit would I get from getting Ron suspended, Hermione,' said Harry, still angry at his two best friends.

'Oh, that's because you're jealous of me, Potter,' shouted Ron with a mouthful of biscuits.

'Harry, really, the one time that Ron is doing better than you at something, you step in to make sure that's not the case,' stated Hermione, 'Of course, the Boy-Who-Lived's sidekick can't steal his thunder, can he. Then nobody will give attention to the poor Harry Potter, and we can't have that.'

'Have you both gone mad?' It was Harry's turn to be incredulous. 'You can't seriously believe that, can you? You know I hate my fame, what possible reason would I have to be angry at him for stealing my thunder, as you so eloquently put it.'

'Harry, drop the act; you never could lie well, you know,' said Hermione, 'We all know that you secretly enjoy it all, you just pretend to be modest to generate even more goodwill.'

'What has gotten into you, Hermione?' asked Harry, 'This isn't the Hermione that I know.'

'Check tomorrow's Daily Prophet, Harry, I think you'll find Rita Skeeter's piece on you quite interesting,' said Hermione and started to leave.

'Remember, Potter, making an enemy of the two most influential people in Wizarding Britain is not wise,' said Ron and they both left, leaving a very confused, and angry Harry Potter.
