How Lucius Malfoy actually got out of imprisonment after the first war.
Lucius walks into a store off a side alley somewhere in Diagon Alley.
May I inquire as to why you have come here today, Lord Malfoy?
"Do not pretend you do not know why I am here".
"So I take it that you indeed seek to have your memory of the time that you served the dark lord temporarily removed".
Lucius gritted his teeth, as his patients quite noticeably grew weary of conversing with the particular Memory Charmer.
"Yes, I do. The regular 75 Galleons then"?
"Lucius, Lucius, do not think I do not know how desperate you are for this. I want triple of the regular. Two hundred twenty five Galleons."
"Very well. Here you are," Lucius handed the man a small, but hefty moneypouch. "But remember, should you remove any memory beyond of what I ask of you, I assure you that you will not be alive for more then two days."
"Yes, of course, my lord."
One week later at the interrogation of Lucius in the court.
Dumbledore sat at the very center of the cabinet member's sitting. His uncanny halfmoon spectacles rested at the very tip of his nose, as he cleared his throat and addressed the audience.
"Let it be noted and documented that Lucius Malfoy has been given, and is under the influence of vertaserum."
"Well then, I gather we should get straight to the point", a harsh feminine voice belonging to one Madam Bones voiced through the anxious air.
"Yes, I think we will".
"Would you state your full name for us, please"?
"Lucius Arigtious Malfoy".
"So, Mr. Malfoy, are you or were you formally a death-eater"?
"
No." (Gasps sound all around the courthouse.)
"Have you knowingly had any personal connection with any death-eaters?"
"No". (More gasps sound)
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
And so it came to be, without any sufficient evidence, that Lucius Malfoy was let free. Boohoooo.
