3/1. The War Begins.
Las Angeles, California
November 13th, (2010)
Will, Kyle and Tommy laid sound alsleep in their sleeping-bags in the tent in the basement of Will's suburban home. It was difficult for them to doze off after that horrific News broadcast last night regarding the alien invasion, but...somehow they'd all managed to fall asleep. Although it was unlikely they were getting any peaceful sleep, given what they had been through and what was currently happening not just outside Will's house, but all accross the globe.
The boys were soon instantly jolted awake by a loud BOOM from outside the house.
"Whoa, what was that?!" Kyle asked in bewilderment.
"I don't know. Sounded like a loud explosion." Will said.
"Are the aliens bombing Earth? They can't be." Tommy added, as if trying to convince himself. "They can't be. They came back to abduct more people. They're not back to wipe out the rest of us, right?"
"I don't know!" Will responded, with exasperation showing in his voice. "We've gotta find out what's happening. Kyle, turn on the mini-TV."
"Right." Kyle said before turning on the 2000s mini-TV in front of him and the others, but all they got was a rainbow screen that was making a long beeping sound. "It's not working."
"This message is being broadcasted by the department of the Pentagon. As you are all well aware, yesterday, multiple un-identified objects were confirmed to have entered Earth's atmosphere. It is speculated that these objects are of extraterrestrial origin." Said the voice of a man on the mini-TV.
"NO. Ya think?" Kyle said sarcastically.
"We are currently using the United States Air Force to fight back against this enemy. Their defense system will stop the aliens before they can abduct anymore people or cause anymore damage. The broadcast will quiet at this time for your safety. Please continue to stay in the doors of your homes and we will do our best to get to you as soon as we can. Thank you for listening." The screen then went to static, followed by Kyle turning off the mini-TV.
"See? Nothing to worry about. The government has this whole thing under control. They'll nuke the aliens and then things will go back to normal." Will said.
"Telling people to stay in their homes isn't going to keep them safe from what's going on outside. The aliens could still abduct them or an Air Force missile could hit one of their houses by mistake." Kyle said.
"I don't think that'll happen." Will said.
"Yeah. Tell that to whoever just caught that last explosion. Bet it hit a part of L.A." Kyle said. "Now we're gonna die too. We're gonna die. And what's the government doing about it? They aren't doing anything because they're too busy doing battle with the aliens."
"Do be so dramatic, Kyle. We need to stay inside until the Air Force wins." Will said.
"That's your plan? Stay locked down here in the basement until it's all over?" Kyle asked. "In case you forgot, we're already doing that. And it was suppose to keep us safe from all of this.
"I should be at home right now with my parents. Why were our families taken in the first wave of abductions and not us too? Why are we still here?" Will said.
"The fact that the aliens have returned probably means they've come back for us and many more people they left the first time around." Kyle said.
"We don't know if they came back for us or not. Maybe they've already captured enough people." Will said.
"Well, what's the point of them still sticking around and putting themselves through this?" Kyle asked.
"You guys...we're at war. We're lucky to be alive right now. But we need to act quickly. We have to find Bryce and Charlotte, they're right in the middle of this chaos." Tommy said.
"We're not going anywhere until we're sure that it's safe out there." Said Will. "You aren't seriously suggesting we go out there looking for them now, are you? You'll get us all killed. Or worse, abducted."
"What else are we suppose to do? Just stay down here until it's all over?" Tommy asked.
"What we need to do is stay down here and wait for the war to pass." Will suggested. "The government knows what's best. They said for us to stay inside until this is over. It would be suicide to go out there now. Someone will come and rescue us. Or they may decide that it's safe for us to come out after a while. We just have to keep our heads and not panic. What they're saying now is for people to stay in their homes and wait. And wait we will."
