Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Harry Potter.
However in their hunger for exploration they ran into a problem.
"Where do we go first?! There's so much to see!" Naruto dropped to his knees holding his hat clad head as he lamented having too many choices.
After celebrating getting there new hat sizes and promising to get a gift for the professor they had immediately decided to get on with their journey but–
"Hmm…maybe we can go see the…." Even his friend seemed to have stalled on an idea as she looked around with confusion dancing in her eyes.
"I should have thought this out better, this is all my fault. Stupid hats!" He banged his hand onto the floor in regret lamenting that he only spent time thinking about fancy hats! He was always like this!
"Don't worry Naruto! We'll figure it out, don't let the wrackspurts win! You're stronger than that." She placed a hand on his shoulder in support as he looked up happy she wasn't mad he had no clue what he was doing.
"...you're right I won't let these wrackspluts-"
"Wrackspurts!"
"Wrackspurts win, we will explore today and we will emerge victorious!"
"Yes!" As he was cheered on, Naruto got back to his feet, his resolve anew as he looked at his friend with determination.
"Sorry about that, no clue what got into me but we'll be okay!" Naruto said as he got back into character clenching his fist.
She nodded but said nothing, only sending him a smile.
'I have a great friend!' Not wanting to look bad in front of her he quickly thought of something to do as his eyes widened.
"How about we check where the Hufflepuffs sleep? We can look for my friends too!" It was like an explosion went off in his mind.
(Break)
"We're lost!" Naruto collapsed to his knees again as he looked at the entrance to some no doubt creepy dungeon place!
"We probably shouldn't have followed someone who was wearing slytherin robes…" Luna gave a piece of her mind as she leaned on the wall evidently a bit tired by all the walking unlike the Ninja. They did come from walking up and down in circles before finding someone and coming all the way to the final floor illuminated by torches.
Hearing the tiredness in her voice Naruto sighed, glancing around the corner seeing another slytherin student behind a bare stretch of stone walls. What he assumed was their version of the common room.
It was a blonde kid who looked to be around their age, with her hair catching the sunlight as she moved.
Her eyes darted around as though she was scanning the area for something or someone she couldn't quite locate. After a few moments of frustration, she threw her hands up in exasperation. With a huff of annoyance, she turned on her heel and stomped back inside, her footsteps echoing her displeasure.
Ignoring how much she looked like the shrimp Astoria he pulled Luna into an unused room pulling out his wand as he cleaned the table with a near silent scourgify.
"Let's rest for a second while I figure this out." He told her as she sat nodding while huffing a bit.
"Maybe we can ask one of them? They seem a bit mean but I don't think they'll get in the way of adventures." She sounded quite sure as she slouched on the table.
Naruto blinked before denying it almost immediately. While he liked his friend and her suggestions she was a bit too naive at times.
He very much doubted they would help them so easily from what he observed the past week.
"No…actually I have a way but ahhhh I really didn't want to do this…" He said seeing her perk up in interest as he paced around the room with a hand on his chin.
"Do what Naruto and why didn't you do it before?" He winced at the little bit of accusation in her voice, coughing a bit sheepishly as he looked away. It wasn't really malicious but she sounded a bit upset.
"Well it has to do a bit with a…crime." He whispered the last part quickly, sweating as she looked at him with wide eyes.
"Crime..what kind of crime? The tasty kind?" However his face turned strange hearing the deep interest in her voice. Why on earth did his friend sound so interested?!
That wasn't even the main issue here!
"Is there tasty crime Luna?" She nodded quickly causing her radish earrings and hair to flap quite a bit.
"I've swiped some pudding when daddy wasn't looking. I felt so bad but it tasted sooo good." She sounded like she was carrying a deep secret but the way her face looked told him that she didn't regret it a bit.
He looked at her for a second seeing her space out, clearly remembering the taste of that pudding.
His friend really liked her pudding.
"Well it isn't that kind of crime but well you'll see. I'll call them-" Naruto who made up his mind brought out his finger before whistling loudly in a rather specific manner.
He heard the tiny patter of feet walking near him as he finally finished the super special secret whistle blow.
"Give it a minute and don't be too surprised they're friendly okay?" He tried stalling any instinctive response forgetting who his friend was exactly.
Now she looked really befuddled looking around dizzly clearly not knowing what he meant.
"Them? What are you talking-"
"Yes-!" Naruto looked over to the door smiling when he heard the tiny buzz.
-them!" and he cackled when her face went astonished seeing the singular tiny blue pixie-like creature floating above them.
"It's a…pixie?!" She gaped as the singular magical beast floated down before them acting all grand like, as it twirled around with sparkles and stuff.
'Still ugly as hell though-' Naruto thought as he reached a hand out grabbing the pixie as it squeaked but obediently allowed him. He had little sympathy after reading up more on the creatures and turned to Luna.
"Yep! Look, more are coming!" He pointed as the wave of creatures poured in like a blue tidal squeaking up a storm and he blinked for a second observing them.
'Hmm did they find more or something?' He thought for a second before shrugging.
Probably not.
He watched as Luna reached out, also grabbing one as he glared at it making sure it knew not to act stupid.
"I didn't know you knew how to herd pixies Naruto. I've never heard of them being kept as pets willingly. I can tell daddy he can put this in an article!" She patted it gently looking at him with amazed eyes as he puffed his chest.
'Well you know, I'm just that cool.' He thought, nearly rubbing his hands together in glee, watching as his friend danced between the little blue creatures.
Naruto thought his operation to be a respected cool guy was going quite well even if it was restricted to one person so far!
However he paused when he remembered what she just said.
"Ehm Luna?"
"Hmmm?" The girl who was for some reason stuffing the pixies in her pajamas looked up at him confused.
Naruto made a "come over here" gesture with his hands as she waddled over without making a fuss.
Throwing a arm around her neck he began whispering exactly why putting this in the paper would be a bad idea, as he liberally made mentions of prison, his pranks of Lockhart, him having the pixies steal him some food and many other things that would probably get him in trouble.
His friend, the understanding girl she was, nodded, ahhhing and oooing like she understood him perfectly and wasn't just placating him so she could quickly play with the docile pixies.
Naruto having a good grasp on his friend sweated buckets seeing the vacant look in her eyes as she stared at the creatures intently.
He would have to have Archimedes keep an eye on her owl so she didn't get him sent to some kind of Wizarding jail by accident!
Not that he'd actually get caught.
"Don't worry Naruto, I'll be sure to tell daddy to use a different name for you!" The girl smiled before raising a thumbs up clearly copying him.
Looking at her for a second Naruto decided it was a lost cause as he sighed looking back at the pixies.
Seeing the look, the linked creatures quickly got in-line, as the blonde haired girl sighed in sadness when the ones she tried hiding flew out too.
Turning around, Naruto raised his hand.
"Five of you, lead us to the Hufflepuff Common room! I'll be sure to reward you plenty when we get back!" The blonde proposed as the creatures looked at each.
Soon they all squared up.
"What are they doing?" Luna bent down with her head tilted, watching with a disturbing amount of calmness as the cute creatures argued in tiny squeaks before they started pushing each other.
Naruto sent an eye towards her and answered with a smile.
"It's a fight to decide who will take the mission. These little guys are quite energetic!"
He had been training them to act like Ninjas from back home with little success but they at least knew you got paid when he asked them to do something.
If he couldn't be Hokage there he could at least be one here.
'Actually that's kind of sad?' The Uzumaki had a quick clear thought.
Luna blinked, watching as the drops of blue blood landed on the floor thinking it looked more like a battle to the death.
Not that it bothered her. This was just a normal amount of violence that she had seen considering the hunting for the elusive Crumpled-horn Snorkack she went on with her family!
Daddy always said only the strongest wild animal survived in the jungle…the wild! Who were they to disturb nature?
"Huh?!"
Luna blinked then turned to her friend who was looking at her with wide eyes.
"Ehehe did I say that out loud?"
The tiny girl was surprisingly rather bloodthirsty.
(Break)
"Wait!" Naruto shouted as he pulled Luna back quickly just as they reached the bottom of the long spiral staircase leading down under.
"Ah, is there an enemy?!" The girl pulled out her wand looking around the brightly lit corridor with serious eyes as she waved the stick.
Naruto, who was about to speak, stopped and turned to her, his mouth gaping. Why was she so random at times?
"Enemies? Do we even have enemies?" The blonde boy looked confused as the girl looked back at him equally so.
"We don't?"
Naruto shook his head. 'Maybe I do. Not you!'
"I don't think so."
"Huh." Watching as the girl put away her wand, Naruto wondered what spell she was going to try to use when she was just a first year.
"So why did you stop us?" She said referring to the beat up pixies that were flying high above as well.
"Ah!" Naruto smacked his palm into his hand before pointing.
"Don't you smell that scent?! I think it's coming from over there!" Naruto sniffed, his nose twinging as he looked suspiciously down the corridor.
Looking at each other in agreement, the children slowly went inside the path, ignoring the other one that no doubt led into the Hufflepuff Common room as they took a look at all the pictures.
"Okay this doesn't make sense! I can smell it right here!" Naruto said, rubbing his head as he opened a random barrel in the corner wondering if the scent originated from there.
Unfortunately it was just empty.
"Magic Naruto! It doesn't have to make sense! That's the best thing about it, mom told me!" His friend cheerfully replied as she observed the paintings not helping at all.
"Righ, right." Naruto grumbled with a sigh as he continued checking everything trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
'Oh! Maybe it's hidden like the forbidden scroll the old man had!' Naruto immediately thought, realizing that it was definitely true.
"Luna! I think it may be hidden behind one of the pictures! Try to take one off!" Naruto told her, closing the barrel and quickly running over.
"They're stuck!" Clearly ahead of him the girl struggled to pull the portrait off as she slipped backwards-
"Careful!" Catching her with one hand, he steadied her before looking at the portrait with narrowed eyes.
"Sit back…I got this!" Gripping it by the edges Naruto stuck his fingers using the tree walking exercise as he began pulling.
Hard!
Crack-
"Ehm-Naruto?" The amazed voice resounded but he was too busy straining as he pulled at the portrait on a mission.
"A bit busy here Luna-"
Creak-
"But-"
The girl who tried warning him, watching as the spider cracks expanded up to the roof was too late, far too late.
Booom!
The wall around the portrait crumbled, bricks falling down as the Uzumaki's legs carried him backwards from the lack of tension. He coughed at the dusty debris that fell as well as feeling it get in his nose and mouth.
"What?!" Naruto paled as he held the portrait still connected to the bricks on the wall as he wondered what kind of crazy glue these people used?!
"Wowww…" Placing down the portrait with a grunt, he turned to his friend who was sitting on her rump watching with wide eyes.
Blue eyes connected with gray eyes and Naruto shifted at the awe in those eyes. He knew she understood a little about him being different but it was still a bit much for him to just display it like that…
He tensed seeing her mouth open-
"You could probably lift a lot of pudding with those arms."
-before he sighed hearing her just playing around again.
"Not the time Luna, we should probably-" He paused. In fact Naruto, Luna and their pixie companions all turned towards the door, no, the fruit portrait that was opening in shock!
Well shocked in Naruto's case, the Lovegood girl seemed eager to revel in the chaos that was unfolding.
However that was put on hold when the girl was grabbed by her arm before being hoisted up into a potato carry.
That wasn't what shocked her however as she placed two hands over her mouth to cover the excited squeal that escaped as they nearly flew up vertically, without a sound as the Uzumaki first touched the roof somehow sticking as he hung with a hand, before his legs followed sticking to the wall.
"I didn't know ninjas could fly. Do you have tiny broomsticks in your shoes, Naruto?" Naruto heard the quiet rushed whisper and quickly shook his head as they both both observed the-
'...what the fuck-'
The Uzumaki's eyes bulged looking at the thing. For it could only be so with its wrinkled washed up skin, large curled ears, massive eyes and a enormous head.
Its body was small like a toddler's, it wore a dirt old…sack and everything on its body was completely disproportionate.
Naruto just stared at the ugly thing that was somehow more ugly than the pixies by far. In fact he would have to apologize for thinking them the ugliest things he had ever seen.
"A house elf? What is it doing here?"
Naruto who was watching as the thing paused looking at the wall with wide eyes heard her turning his head like an old gear.
"A whot?!" He hissed quickly keeping an eye on it as he picked up its panicked squeaks.
"Ahem? You should ask nicely!" The girl told him sternly as his eyes twitched. Was she really doing this now?!
"Please?"
She smiled as she was soon shifted onto his back holding his neck.
"Well since you asked so nicely~ For starters-"
And so Naruto was informed by his friend of exactly what this little creature was that tried repairing the wall in a panic, failing multiple times.
"-also they don't need wands like us to do magic-" The soft voice continued.
The little house elf soon ran back inside the portrait and before long came back with a literal army of the things as Naruto's eyes grew larger.
Was that like 30 of them?
"Oh and you should never offer them clothes they may get upset and that wouldn't be nice-"
At this point Naruto was more focused on the house elves scratching their heads as they tried repairing the wall floating up the broken pieces bit by bit as the others stuck them to the wall.
It was crooked. They failed.
"-also did you know they've invented a potion to turn you into a unicorn? I've tried to get daddy to buy me it but-
"Huh?" Coming back to he looked at her confused at what she was talking about however she simply smiled as if her goal was achieved as she patted his shoulder.
"Can we go now? I don't think we should stay here much longer." Naruto heard the voice of reason as he glanced back down at the now even larger group of house elves before eventually nodding.
He could think about why the hell this was even a thing later. For now the adventure continued!
(Break)
"Why are there so many barrels in this place?" Naruto deadpanned as he looked at the barrels stacked to the roof as they finally made their way to the Hufflepuff entrance.
Which still made him kinda tense because you know, the portrait he ripped out was like 30 feet away?! He could only give a random excuse if any of those little things came this way.
"Maybe they're smuggling dark artifacts to take over Hogwarts?"
Naruto, who was becoming more accustomed to his friend, didn't pause.
"Why would they do that?"
She hummed.
"Maybe they feel unappreciated?" He walked up beside her looking at the large oak door before glancing back at the other.
"Really? That must suck." Naruto yawned as he answered, not really caring much about it. He was sure they'd be just fine, just like him.
He touched the heavy door for a second pushing but frowned when he realized it wasn't budging. For a second forcing it open nearly crossed his mind before he shivered.
Glancing back he saw gray eyes staring at him then the door intensely clearly waiting for something.
Naruto looked away quickly.
"No!"
"Awwwww pleeeease!?"
Naruto quickly shook his head ignoring her pouting as best as he could as he looked at the actual solution to the problem laying on the ground.
"Well guys? How do we get in?" He asked the pixies who quickly flew up from their prone positions before approaching the barrels.
"Wait, what are they doing?!" The kids quickly pursued the creatures as they floated right in front of the barrels, lining up in one straight line.
"I don't know but it looks fun!" Luna replied as they watched the creatures smashing themselves into a specific barrel 5 times in some kind of order.
"That doesn't look very fun…" Naruto blinked in disappointment, watching as they fell like squashed flies on the ground after basically smashing their brains into the wall.
Did they go crazy? Or maybe he was overworking them and they decided death was a better embrace.
"Fun comes in all shapes! Even the head smashing ones!" Pulling out a jar she got from-
"Where did you get a jar, Luna?" Naruto asked, astonished as she picked up the crazy blue creatures placing them inside before hiding them behind the barrels.
"The real question is why the door opened." She deflected pointing to the now open wood door.
Spinning Naruto's eyes widened seeing the previously locked door now wide open.
"So that's what they did?!" And to think he thought they went crazy. So it was a secret passcode! Damn he should have paid attention.
"Well let's carry on their will! We can't let their sacrifice be in vain!" Afterall he wasn't sure if they'd live after this.
They did hit the door pretty hard after all.
"Of course. I've been waiting far too long already," she said, her voice tinged with impatience and excitement. Gripping his wrist tightly, she pulled him through gasping, her eyes widening in delight at the sight of the Hufflepuff common room.
He followed closely behind, his gaze absorbing the cozy splendor of the space as well.
"It's..its.."
"Amazing!"
"-it's better than ours!" Naruto let out treasonous words as his head whipped back and forth the snug room with its circular windows and burnished copper accents.
Plants hanging from the ceiling or sitting on the windowsills.
The overstuffed sofas and chairs upholstered in yellow and black, and dormitories that he could see nice round doors.
Not to mention the copper lamps just hanging around helping to illuminate the place.
"I wouldn't say that..ours has charm too but where is everyone?" They took tentative steps inside glancing around at the empty chairs.
"It's still morning so they're definitely having breakfast. Damn, I thought we could catch them!" Naruto sighed as he felt his own belly rumbling at the reminder of food.
"I am a bit hungry after all of that. Someone didn't let us get breakfast first after all." The girl said as she sank into one of the Hufflepuff's chairs.
"Ehm are you talking about me?" Naruto tentatively asked as he sat in one of his own.
Like always, she simply looked at him strangely before denying it as she continued gasping at the sights.
Shrinking in his chair knowing that was her "You know what you did look" he looked around the common for a solution before he found one right in front of him!
"Gimme a sec!" Flipping out the chair the Ninja immediately left the near vicinity.
'He's very fast.' Luna thought while watching as he began speeding up and down the common room.
'It must be something important.' Slipping off her shoes she wiggled her toes on the carpet enjoying the feel of it on her bare feet.
And in the tiny recesses of her mind she acknowledged that yes, she did like this common room far more than the Gryffindor one.
'Especially the smell. It's so earthy!' The girl's admiration came to an end as a bowl was slammed down onto the table.
Naruto placed his hands on hips posing as she looked down at it.
"Fruits?"
"Hehe, impressed?" He sat down taking a juicy plum to himself as the girl nodded.
"Are you sure we can eat these?" She said though an apple was already in her mouth.
Naruto, who hadn't actually thought about that, paused before shrugging.
"Would they have them out if we couldn't?"
"Ah, that makes sense."
"This was pretty fun though, I feel like we made good progress with this!" Naruto leaned back, swiping another pear enjoying the taste as he spoke.
He peeked at Luna.
"Want to do this again tomorrow." He smiled coaxing her to continue their adventures.
However, he got a rather unexpected response.
"No thank you." The girl politely said, wiping her mouth with her sleeve with a cute belch.
"Huh what do you mean?. I thought we were having fun!" He looked completely perplexed.
"Oh no that's not what I meant. This was the most fun I had since I got here!" She nodded while making the statement.
Naruto edged towards his seat.
"Sooo?"
"But I can't keep doing it! I have homework and so should you!" She looked at his face in suspicion as he quickly leaned back in the chair with a startled look.
As if he didn't have it.
"Unless you don't?" Her eyes narrowed as he coughed denying.
"No no no! I do have some homework, must've slipped my mind!" The boy sweated at the unbelieving eyes as he guilty felt the split chakra reserves he had from his clones.
It looked like the blonde girl wasn't going to let her male counterpart off but after a minute she smiled but the flicker in her eye told a different story.
"Hmm I'm glad there are no wrackspurts at play." Naruto sighed in relief as he picked up another fruit.
Disaster aborted.
And so ended their first exploration.
'Mmm this plum tastes kinda weird though.'
(Break)
Some time later-
"OUR PLUMS WHO ATE ALL OF OUR BLOODY PLUMS?! I WAS WAITING FOR THEM TO RIPEN! MERLIN YOU DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE ONE!"
