Standing Ovation

I'm not supposed to be here
Or hear what I'm hearing
This music that surrounds me
And brings tears to my eyes

But the man playing
Brings a smile to my face
My Angel of Music and teacher
Completely wrapped up in his song

He lives in music when he plays
The world melts away leaving only the organ and him
He never notices anything when he plays
He doesn't know I'm watching, listening

In this moment our worlds have switched
He has become the performer
And I have become the admirer
Looking on unnoticed

I now know how he feels
When he watches me
And the pride he must feel
Along with disappointment when the music ends

As he finishes the song he sighs
Almost as if he is reclaiming his heart and soul
From the song and he smiles
When he turns to see me applauding him
