SLEEPING ARRANGEMENT

"Are you afraid of anything?"

"I'm fearless. It's my middle name."

"Gil 'Fearless' Grissom? I'm serious here."

"What makes you think I'm not?"

"Grissom."

"Why do you wanna know?"

"Because if we're going to continue sleeping together then I'd like to know more about you."

"You know plenty about me."

"Plenty's not enough."

"You're hard to satisfy, aren't you?"

"I thought you would've known that by now."

"Ok, I'll tell you what I'm afraid of...after you tell me what your fears are."

"I'm afraid of losing Lindsey."

"That was quick."

"I'm not afraid to admit my fears."

"You should be. First rule of survival: never let your enemies know your fears."

"I wasn't aware I was sleeping with the enemy. Your turn."

"You do realize that no matter how different every human being is, that we all have a similar underlying fear?"

"And what's that?"

"You already said it."

"Loss of a loved one?"

"Yes."

"Is that your fear?"

"I'm human, aren't I?"

"Do you ever not answer a question with a question?"

"Have you ever seen me not do it?"

"So you're scared of losing your mom?"

"Of course. And if anyone else finds out, the next body the team will be processing is yours."

"Is that a threat?"

"Observant."

"You shouldn't be ashamed of being afraid of losing your mom."

"I'm not ashamed. I just like being safe."

"Right. Never let the enemy know your fears."

"Exactly."

"I'm glad you don't view me as an enemy."

"If you continue asking me such personal questions, I may have to."

"And if you do, our sleeping arrangement will just have to change. I don't like sleeping with the enemy much."

"Now that's a threat."

"Observant."

"If I tell you another one of my fears, will you keep our current sleeping arrangement?"

"So sex works just as well on you as it does on others, huh?"

"Like I said before, I'm only human."

"Alright, I'll bite. What else scares Gil 'Fearless' Grissom?"

"Losing."

"What?"

"You."

"You must really like our sleeping arrangement to tell me something you know I can hold against you for the rest of your life."

"Well since I've gotten so used to having you by my side everytime I fall asleep and wake up, I'd be more than happy to have you hold what I told you against me for the rest of my life."

"You're gonna regret saying that some day."

"Oh, I don't know, Catherine. I've come to really appreciate our sleeping arrangement."

*THE END*
