Frodo's Farewell

There's an elven ship lies waiting in the Havens
This ev-ening into the West she sails
Far a-way from this land of tortured memories
To the elven land we've heard about in tales
And I shall be on board that ship this ev-ening
Though my heart is full of tears at this farewell

For you were dutiful, and you have served me truly
But more than that, you're my best friend as well
For you were dutiful, and you have served me truly
But more than that, you're my best friend as well

I know that Sauron's wicked reign has ended
But his evil power I knew too very well
Even now I feel the wounds that can't be mended
They burned like fire as we walked into hell
I had no fear of death, it brought no sorrow
But how bitter will be this last farewell

For you were dutiful, and you have served me truly
But more than that, you're my best friend as well
For you were dutiful, and you have served me truly
But more than that, you're my best friend as well

I hope the time will come when you may join me
We may meet again across the Sundering Sea
We will tell again the stories of The Shire
'Cross the heaving waves that part me now from thee
Now as you return safe home again to Rosie
You'll remember all we did and tell our tale

For you were dutiful, and you have served me truly
But more than that, you're my best friend as well
For you were dutiful, and you have served me truly
But more than that, you're my best friend as well
