"Greetings, Brother Paul, what news from the Order of Byzantium?" the wizened Cardinal asked. They were meeting in one of the Vatican's gardens.

"Greetings, your Grace," Brother Thomas replied. "Our search for the Key has still proven fruitless. Our holy rites have been unable to pinpoint its location."

"That is unfortunate," the Cardinal said thoughtfully. "If only the team we sent to America had reported back. I fear the worst for them. What else can be done, Thomas?"

"Your Grace, I fear only divine intervention can help us now," Thomas confessed.

"I suppose I must be more fervent in my prayers."

"Excuse me," interrupted a feminine voice. "Could you help me?"

Both men turned to see a teenaged girl with long, dark hair standing by them. From her clothing and accent, she was obviously another American tourist.

"Yes, my child?" the Cardinal said with a grandfatherly air. "Who are you and how may we be of assistance?"

"Oh, I'm Dawn. Dawn Summers," the girl replied. "I'm supposed to be meeting my sister at the Sistine Chapel. Could you point me that way?"

"Down that corridor, sixth door on the left," the Cardinal told her. "You can't miss it."

"Okay, thanks!" Dawn said, flashing the two men a brilliant smile.

"Summers," the Cardinal mused as Dawn headed down the corridor. "I believe there was someone named Summers on the Pope's appointment list today." He shrugged, dismissing the thought. "Where were we, Brother Thomas?"

"Locating the Key, your Grace."

"Of course," the Cardinal said, nodding. "I must pray that God will deliver the Key to us one day."
