This is a songfic to Everytime by Britney Spears. I don't own the song, I don't own Harry Potter, heck, I don't even own this computer. So no one has any reason to sue me.

Draco passed Hermione in the corridor. She knocked his shoulder accidentally and he grabbed her upper arm, making her wince.

"Watch it, Mudblood. We're not going out anymore so don't get any ideas."

Hermione wrenched her arm away from his grasp and ran off down the corridor, silent tears running down her face.

~ Notice me

Take my hand

Why are we

Strangers when

Our love is strong

Why carry on without me? ~

She ran and didn't stop running until she got to her dormitory, where she collapsed on her bed and tried to sleep all the pain away. She had a rather queer dream. She was flying over a black sea of tar, and on an island in the centre was Draco. She called out his name, and started to fall, as her wings had mysteriously vanished.

~ Everytime I try to fly

I fall without my wings

I feel so small

I guess I need you baby ~

She delved into the tar, the inky blackness tainting her skin, she was drowning, drowning, drowning in her own sorrows. The last thing she saw before the blackness enveloped her was Draco's face, staring expressionlessly at her.

~ And everytime I see you in my dreams

I see your face; it's haunting me

I guess I need you baby ~

She opened her eyes and saw Draco standing next to her bed looking sheepish. She blinked and there was no one standing beside her bed, just the soft ruffles of her hangings.

~ I make believe

That you are here

It's the only way

I see clear ~

"What did I do?" Hermione asked him violently, as she saw him wandering by the lake. "Tell me what I did, so I can make it better!"

"You know what you did." Draco replied solemnly. "Everyone knows about you and Potter. I felt like an idiot. I was the last to find out." He walked back up to the castle, and Hermione formed on her lips a silent 'I'm sorry'.

~ What have I done

You seem to move on easy

And everytime I try to fly

I fall without my wings

I feel so small

I guess I need you baby

And everytime I see you in my dreams

I see your face; you're haunting me

I guess I need you baby ~ Just like the old movie clichè, rain started falling. Just a few droplets at first, but it became steadily heavier until Hermione fell onto her knees into the muck and put her face in her hands, running her fingers through her hair so that it was streaked with mud.

~ I may have made it rain

Please forgive me

My weakness caused you pain

And this song is my sorry ~

She stared into the mud and Draco's face swam up to taunt her. She cried out in anguish and pounded the place where the vision of his face lay. The imprint of her fist was soon swallowed up by the rain and mud.

~ At night I pray

That soon your face

Will fade away

And everytime I try to fly

I fall without my wings

I feel so small

I guess I need you baby

And everytime I see you in my dreams

I see your face; you're haunting me

I guess I need you baby ~

And she turned over and lay on her back in the mud, not caring that she already had a bad cold, not caring that it would take weeks to wash out the mud seeping through her hair. Staring at the rainclouds until the droplets of water left no part of her body dry, she closed her eyes.

"I'm sorry."
