I would not normally post a prolonged author's notes, and I may not ever again. But after the journey this fic has been, I feel the need to explain a few things.
First of all, thank you to everyone who threatened, begged and cajoled for more of this fic. If it hadn't been for the fact that I knew people were reading this, I may have lost this story permanently in the fall of 2004. At that time, I had just moved and taken a new job - one about seven hours from home. Within three months, I knew I was in the wrong place with the wrong people. As a sports editor, I had not just my abilities as a writer questioned, but who I was as a person.
It was the most miserable eight months of my life. In addition to the job troubles and living in a conservative area, I was going through some health issues ... and my mom was awaiting a kidney transplant.
In March, her kidney transplant happened, and I decided I needed to come home. By the end of the month, I was home with my parents. By the second week of April, I had a new job that has completely renewed my love for writing and for journalism. It has also renewed my faith in the human race.
Without those people who stuck with me, Edge of Night would have likely remained unfinished. This is the longest story I have ever completed by about 25,000 words.
A few quick thank yous, as these people deserve them, and I really wanted to do a few shout-outs:
MN Talbert/Kodiak Bear Country: Thank you for threatening to climb through my PC and tear Chapter 11 out of me. You will never know how much that meant...especially with you writing such great SGA fic. You made my day that day.
Jen, my beta reader: I can't say enough about you. I really can't. Thank you for everything, from being my friend to making sure I finally learned how to spell "maneuver." Love ya, sis.
Kerry: Thank you for your English major perfectionism...and being one of the best friends someone can ask for.
Cyndi, Lona and Crys: Thank you for sticking with me...and caring so much.
That's it. I'm done. Oh, and one final statement for everyone:
YES, THERE WILL BE A SEQUEL!
